Unable to join wifi at home
for some reason my iphone4s stopped joining my internet at home. I've restored the phone and network settings and still when i try to access it it continues to say unable to join network? yet my boyfriends phone (droid) is able to connect to it just fine.
help!
Barring the possibility that your boyfriend changed the WiFi password and is playing a joke on you try these steps:
If you are having WiFi problems it is necessary to isolate whether the problem is with your network or your iPhone. Note: Do NOT consider your network to be blameless if some other devices can connect to it.
First, test your iPhone on some other networks: a friends, Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, etc.
If it works well there then the problem is with your network. Try restarting your router by removing power for 30 seconds. If that does not help check for a firmware update for your router. If none exists which corrects the problem consider replacing the router.
If your iPhone does not function well on other networks it possibly has a hardware problem. Contact Apple or visit an Apple store for evaluation. They can provide a replacement if your iPhone is bad.
If you need more help please give the make, model, and version of your WiFi router and how you have it configured.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

I used to be able to connect my iPad to my house wifi network walking all over my house then one day it stopped. When i tried to connect to my network I would get an message saying "Unable to Join network". I found that if i was within 5 feet of my router it would connect and work just fine. Can anyone help? EDGE is working fine for me, but I want to go a bit faster when I an at Home and connect to my mac's airport. Do I have to have a airport base station to accomplish this? My IPhone is reconizing my mac, but I keep getting "unable to join the network 'myname's iMAC G5'". I am getting a strong signal (from the airport drop-down menu) and I have "use interference robustness" turned on, but still unable to connect. Any advice? Thanks
Allan is right, if your iMac G5 is sharing it's network connection, that is what the iphone is picking up.
If this is the case, on your iMac, try going into your system preferences > sharing and turn off internet sharing.
Then power off your iphone and power cycle your airport. Then turn your iphone back on and check to see if the iphone sees your airport network.
If it does not see your network, the airport might not be broadcasting the network name. This can be set up for security reasons.
Go into settings > wi-fi and choose other. This will allow you to put in the name and password of your network. -

I am unable to connect wifi at home to for my ipad mini
have wifi of home but not connect to i pad to wifi.some time connect but not for longer whats the reason of that
I had the same exact problem for months, and tried every SINGLE fix from changing the brightness on the iPad (yes, that was a proposed fix) to re-setting my router to different channels, updating firmware, security settings, and re-naming my network, to re-setting, and re-storing my iPad mini. It was very frustrating, and I was getting ready to return it. All of my other Apple devices, along with our PCs, Macs, and Blackberry products connect with no problem at all. The mini worked in my living room where the router was located, but no where else in the house. I am using a Time Capsule with the built in Airport for a router. I went and purchased an Airport Express for $99, and am using it to boost reception. I have it located in my bedroom which is where I used the mini most of the time. VOILA! Now I have perfect reception to the mini. Yes, it should work without the Express, but I didn't want to return it as it works everywhere else outside of the house. As an aside, the Airport Express has also improved reception to my children's devices in their bedrooms. As far as I am concerned, it is a wi-fi range problem with the mini.

Macbook air unable to join wifi network
I have a brand new MacBook Air and am new to Macs, but have a very good understanding of PCs. I constantly have to reenter our wireless security code for Wi-fi. Now I am receiving a message that says "the computer was unable to join the wi-fi network you selected". What am I doing wrong?
After a 30 minute phone call with Support, nothing worked still! In the end he suggested changing the channel of the wireless router/modem. I tried to do this (after research online on my imac) and then lost all internet connection. The router/moden no longer worked at all! Then had to call the support line for the router; spent another hour or so trying things, but to no avail. In the end have had to buy a new modern modem router (Belkin Dual band N+ PLAY N600 DB) and so far ......................it's working! But we only bought it this morning. Will report back another day with an update!

Unable to reinstall Mavericks (unable to join wifi)
Morning,
I was trying Yosemite for some weeks but I wanted to unable it in order to restore Mavericks. I restarted and used disk utility to erase the system then tried to install OSX again. However, the installer refuses to join any wifi network (ADSL gateway, wifi hotspot I created from another computer and iPhone connection shared). The problem is not related to the wifi gateway I used because all the wifi hotspot I could reach (WEP, WPA and even no encryption) give the same error:
"The wifi network "..." could not be jointed. Try moving closer to the wireless router.".
I attempted several reboots (shutdown, then restart) without success. I plan to connect my computer to a networked router tomorrow with my USB adapter but I would like to know if there is another way to bypass this issue with a wifi connection.
Thanks in advance
Thierry
(Macbook pro (late 2013))Fixed the wifi problem using terminal (networksetup -setairportnetwork en0 SSID Password). Currently, I can use Safari or terminal to get access to Internet. However, I confirm this is now the yosemite beta installer which causes my problems (now, the error is "An error occured while preparing the installation. Try running this application again.").
How can I revert back to Mavericks ? I have a external hard drive with OSX Mavericks (but the HDD is FAT). I tried cp -R to copy the installer back to /Applications but I receive a lot of "No such file or directory" messages.
I would like to create a USB stick to reinstall but I'm not sure its possible since my Mavericks installer is hosted on a FAT formatted HDD.
Anyone got the same issue ? Thanks -

Ipod Touch 4g unable to join wifi network
We have a new Ipod touch 4g. We have a wifi router in our home. We have to other ipod touches and two iphone that log on with no trouble. I have updated the firmware software on the router and updated and restored the ipod. What else can I try?
The problem could be caused by a firewall in the router. For reasons that I do not understand, that will affect IOS (iPod/iPad) communication but will not affect computers or other devices.
You will need administrative access to the router. If a firewall is present, turn it off and test the iPod again. If it works, turn the firewall back on but weaken it a notch and test the iPod again. Repeat as required.
Edit...
Two other IOS devices are functioning properly. This solution is not valid. Sorry. -
I am not able to join a wifi network in client mode from my airport express. This used to work when my main router was another airport, but not now when I use a d-link.
What is wrong? The D-Link router is using different settings than the former AirPort, so the Express cannot join the wireless network.
The Express will join the network providing that three conditions are met:
1) Express must have the same wireless network name as the D-Link network
2) Express must use the same wireless security settings as the D-Link network
3) Express must use the same wireless network password as the D-Link network
