Unable to jump inside contact list - iphone 3G firmware 3.0
Hey everyone. I've recently upgraded my firmware to version 3.0. After doing that, I'm unable to jump directly to the contacts starting with a specific letter. The whole A-Z letters on the right side shows in a gray sheded box whenever trying to tap. Is it only me having the problem or everyone? Also, I get no result at all when using the Contact search list. My Groups is set to showing All contacts
I just upgraded to 3.0. It froze during the update, after waiting for hours. I forced shut down the computer, and started over. It was able to update the software, and restore my data, but I am experiencing the same problems in contacts. Tried reinstalling the software, and a soft restart, no change. How do you change back to the older software?

I am unable to find my acontact list after downloading IOS6.1 and the ICloud. When I open contacts up on the Iphone is says that I don't have any????
I'm sorry for the delay in my response but I was away for the weekend. I went through and tried all of above and still not working. To answer the question about connecting to another router ie Starbucks was not tried as I haven't had a chance to get over there yet, BUT I do have hot spot on my iPhone and I don't see that either. Currently I connected to the internet through the hot spot using Bluetooth, so I am able to use it but only if my phone is around. It is the only way that I can get the iPad online currently.
As for the answer regarding SSID/router changes, I am not very technologically sauvy but I do know that it was working perfectly for several months and just suddenly stopped connecting, but as I mentioned above every other device connects to the router in my house and nothing has been changed or added. It does seem weird that it won't find my iPhone when the hot spot is on and every other device will.
Thank you all for your responses, and please keep them coming. Is there anyway that maybe I changed a setting on my iPad accidentally that I am not aware of? By that I mean other than the obvious wifi on/off switch. I keep hoping the answer will be something silly, obvious and a quick fix.

Unable to open personal contact list Outlook 2010
Error when opening a personal contact list. To my knowledge it has not been edited in a newer version of Outlook as we all use Outlook 2010. Even tried restoring from 6 month old backup when it was supposed to have worked. Any ideas how
to get past this?

this contact group has been edited with a newer version of outlook and contains too many members to display.Well. Does the DL have more than 5000 contacts in it? If so, that may cause a problem due to Exchange's 5000 recipient limit for sent emails.
Where is personal distrubution list stored in your scenario? Stored in OST and sync with mailbox, or backup in the local PST file?
If other contact groups and contacts can be opened just fine, it seems the issue may occur if the problematic contact groups is corrupted itself.
You can take a chance to open it via MFCMAPI tool. If it even cannot be open, I think it cannot be recovered unless we do a single mailbox recovery.

When I bring up my email to send a letter.
then seletct contact list several contacts are listed 2 times and one email address I do not want on there.
how do I deleted the unwanted email adresses. these extra email adresses are not listed in contacts list.
thanks JIn the Mail app, select the mail that contains the address that you want. Where it says "From:" tap on their name. You will then have the options to create a new contact or add to an existing contact.

That's because you both are using the same Apple ID for iCloud(yours). Your son deleted your contacts & added his, & as far as iCloud knows, its the same person & that's the way things are supposed to work...keeps everything in sync across all of your devices.
Your son needs his own Apple ID for iCloud, FaceTime & iMessage...this will prevent this from happening again.
As far as recovering your contacts, unless they are in a supported application somewhere else, they are most likely gone. -

Despite numerous attempts at different times, I have been unable to print my contact list from the cloud. Has anyone actually been able to do this?
I select all my contacts (with a check mark), then try to print. I always get the following error message, which is pretty useless:
"Something happened while we were trying to print your request. Please give it another try." I give it another try, and get the same message.Tried that, but most of what appears in the spreadsheet is gibberish.
I suspect that the print option has never worked and never will. But thank you for trying to help. -
Since installing Mountain Lion I am unable to access my contacts list in Safari to forward an e-mail or send a new one. The Insert contacts link above the address box is not active and will not access the Contacts List. How can I fix this?
Can you open Contacts and edit, insert, and delete cards, or does it fail to work, also?

Use the search feature at the top of the contacts list.

azWhat you can do is, go to Settings-> facebook-> Your name-> delete account-> delete-> remove facebook info.
This will remove all the fb contacts. but before you again sign your fb account into your iOS, have the option of contacts set to off. -

It sounds like you are unable to see your contacts in the phone, but have confirmed they are still at http://www.icloud.com. I would next try these troubleshooting steps from the article named:

If you're using iOS 7, quit and restart the Contacts app on your iOS device:
Press the Home button twice to see preview screens of the apps you have open.
Find the Contacts preview screen and swipe it up and out of preview to quit the application.

Wait a minute before reopening the Contacts app.
Turn iCloud Contacts off and back on:
Tap Settings > iCloud.
Turn Contacts off. Choose to delete data only if your data exists at icloud.com/contacts and on one or more of your devices. Otherwise, choose Keep Data.
Wait a few minutes before turning Contacts back on.
Restart your iOS device by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and then swiping the screen when prompted to power off. Then turn your device back on. This may sound simple, but it does reinitialize your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.

When I went into the Facebook app on my iPhone 4S, I tried finding friends through my contact list. I thought only contacts with cellphone numbers matching a Facebook profile would appear to add as a friend. What's being populated are friends of my friends. Why is this happening? A friend of a friend isn't my contact. Shouldn't a true contact have a phone number in my contact list when attempting to match contact to Facebook profile or did things change with iOS 7.0.3??
Many mail clients reject images, JavaScript and embedded CSS styles. For best results use plain text near the top to communicate your message and give a link to the actual web page on your server.
For mail clients that do have limited support for HTML, use uncomplicated tables and inline CSS rules (inside the body tag).
All that meta data description is a red flag to spam filters. You shouldn't be using meta description or keywords in e-mails.

Since updating my IPhone 4 to IOS 6, I am unable to pull up the list of Purchased apps under the Apps/Updates. I suspect I am too low on RAM to load the entire list of purchased apps. Any solution?

I searched a lot and maybe found a part of the reason for this high data traffic.
I'm synchronizing my contacts, calendar & reminder with iCloud & my mail with Hotmail.
When push is activated for Hotmail, that doesn't matter, but when push is activated for iCloud, the amount of data nearly explodes. So I turned iCloud to manual and let Hotmail on push.
Contacts, calendar & reminder are synchronizing when opened (I think this is enough).
Also I do a backup on iCloud and than I deactivate the function (I do not delete the last backup, I only deactivate the option for automatic backup).
It seems, that the backup functionality also generates traffic when not on WiFi - especially at night!!
The battery life has been getting better, when I deactivated the support for automatic time zone changes (location services were always on).
The battery finaly got MUCH BETTER since the update on iOS 5.0.1.
My traffic is actually higher than on iOS 4 but not so high as before I deactivated some services...

Unable to update my facebook contacts with my iphone 4S IOS 7 version. Have tried setting>facebook> update contacts it does nothing
Same problem here. Just added a friend on Facebook and I'm trying to find a way to make him show up in my contacts list. I tried the "Update Contacts" mentioned above, also logged out of Facebook in the settings and logged back in and tried to update again and he's still not turning up.
While looking into this I also noticed a bunch of contacts who don't have duplicates and whose info seems only to be coming from my Google account although I'm friends with them on Facebook and I'd like to have both sets of info available in one place.
So something with the syncing is not working right.
(Also working with 4S & iOS 7)
Edit - ended up in this thread through a search and only just now noticed it's probably in the wrong place in "iPhone Hardware". Anyway if anyone has any pointers that would be greatly appreciated, if not I'll take this to a more appropriate sub-forum.

I am unable to export my contacts from my iPhone 4 to the hands free unit on my Honda Civic VTI-LN. Has anybody had this problem and found a solution.
Strange that your dealer could not help.
When my car was in for its 6 month service in July/August I mentioned this problem to the dealer service dept (Northway Honda, Bundoora, Vic)
The person booking the car in told me an update to the software was needed and that they would do the update.
I don't know if it was free as there was no specific listing of a software update on the invoice - just a lot of item numbers.
