Unable to launch application on Linux machine

Hi,
We have a Java based product developed as desktop application. This product has a tree structure built-in. and while connecting to few of the nodes, we are getting the following error: "*Cannot write XdndAware property*".
Note:
1. We are running the application on a Linux machine.
2. We are using JNLP to launch the application.
3. Only few nodes are causing this issue.
4. Tried putting -DsuppressSwingDropSupport=true in JNLP file, but no progress.
5. This happens on JDK1.6.0_23 and above
Can someone help us to resolve this issue.
Thank you.
Regards,
KNP

Let me explain my current requirement.
1. All the client jars should be downloaded every time I click a link (as of now its a JNLP link, but this can change).
2. And this should be platform independent
3. I stated in the earlier description I should be able to pass arguments (suppressSwingDropSupport, etc) to VM to resolve the actual issue.
Can someone please suggest any other approach?
I have one more generic question: Can I write my own JNLP defining XSD & DTD, so that it can accept all the arguments whichever I can pass to the VM? If so, how to do this?
Please respond

  • Unable to launch application from my machine:Bad MIME Type

    Hi,
The following error message was printed when I tried to access the SwingSet2 demo from the Java Web Start site.
An error occurred while launching/running the application.
    Title: SwingSet2
    Vendor: Sun Microsystems, Inc.
    Category: Download Error
Bad MIME type returned from server when accessing resource: http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/apps/SwingSet2.jnlp - text/html
Can you please suggest what is to be done to rectufy this problem?
    Regards,
    Satish

Bad MIME type returned from server when accessing
    resource:
    http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/apps/SwingSet
    .jnlp - text/htmlit should return application/x-java-jnlp-file.
My guess is that you use proxy which messes up headers.
Otherwise try to reinstall Web Start, then enable the console and log output in Web Start's advanced preferences to get more clues what's going on.

  • Java - Unable to launch application

The problem: When I try to run ASDM on my Cisco 5550, I'm getting the dialog box "Unable to launch application". When I click on "Details", I see the error: "The application has requested a version of the JRE (1.5+) that is not installed".
The system I'm running this on is a Mac Pro with OS X Lion 10.7.5, and the latest Java version 7u13.
The initial lines of "show ver" on the firewall are:
    # show ver
Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Software Version 8.2(2)
    Device Manager Version 6.3(3)
This is a relatively new problem; as recently as two weeks ago I was able to run ASDM with no problem. I suspect that the latest security-related Java updates have caused something to break.
    Any ideas?

Solved this one on my own: The solution was to install the latest ASDM, 7.1.1_52. (This had occurred to me, but I didn't know if was compatible with the older ASA 8.2(2). It looks like it is!)

  • SDDM 4 EA3: Unable to launch the Java Virtual Machine (Win 7 64bit)

SQL Developer v4 EA3 is working fine, but I decided to download the stand-alone SQL Developer Data Modeler because I had seen people recommending using it in favor of the one bundled with SQLDEV.
    Windows 7 64-bit
    Java (64 bit) installed into C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_25

I think I stumbled on the solution just prior to posting,  so here is what worked for me in case anyone else runs into this....
I had created a desktop short-cut to "C:\Program Files\datamodeler\datamodeler.exe", which I am guessing is the 32bit version of the binary file.
I was able to launch successfully by pointing to "C:\Program Files\datamodeler\datamodeler64.exe"

That path is incorrect - strip everything after the jdk1.7.0_45\

I eventually fixed the rest of the samples build process by cleaning up my path.

  • Unable to launch application

I am just starting off with Java Web Start and trying some simple tests. Let me preface the problem statement by saying that everything is on the same machine (my Win XP Pro desktop). Also, I have confirmed that the environment is set up correctly by running the demo apps at http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/demos.html; these work flawlessly.
However, when I try to invoke my application it fails with a dialog that reads
Unable to launch Test JNLP ApplicationSelecting the "Details" button, displays the Download Error window. The gist of the contents of the General tab is
Unable to load resource: http://d10616:8080/aatview/test.jnlpEverything about the URL is correct. The Exception tab has a stack trace that begins with
JNLPException[category: Download Error : Exception: java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 503 for URL: http://d10616:8080/aatview/test.jnlp : LaunchDesc: null ]Perusing this forum I read a recommendation to remove the proxy setting the JAWS Application Manager. So I did that; but then I get a failure with the General tab reading
Unsigned application requesting unrestricted access to systemCan you help?

Unsigned application requesting unrestricted access to systemWell It means your application was downloaded, but if the jnlp file indicates an unrestricted access to the client, you need to sign your application.
Search for self-signed certificates in the forums to know how to generate a cert yourself and sign the jar file(s).

  • Unable to Launch Application error while starting IR

    Dear friends
I am not a BASIS trained person, but wearing different caps because I am the only SAP engineer in our company and so learning on the job.
I have installed a new server that has (SAP ECC 6.0, EP and PI). This is an IDES version. The operating system is Windows Server 2003 R2 (64 Bit).
The menu System -> Status says that  Software Component SAP_BASIS is  Release 700.
The ECC part is working ok, since I have been using many custom and standard tables, Bapis etc.,
However, when I give transaction code    "SXMB_IFR"   to start PI, it opens the browser with a message at the top saying "You need to install Javau2122 WebStart 1.4.2. "
However, I have installed j2sdk1.4.2_17-x64 and entered the environment variable path "C:\j2sdk1.4.2_17-x64".
When I try to click on 'Integration Repository', it tries to start 'Java Web Start window and after a while fails with a message 'Unable to launch the application'.
I searched SDN and other blogs and tried suggestions like,
selecting  Control Panel -> Java and removing temporary internet files. But this didn't help.
I have installed another server on a 32 bit system and that one doesn't have any issues. The main difference with this one is that it is a 64 bit server and has (ECC, EP and PI) installed on the same server.
I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions.
    Thanks
    Ram

    Dear Ram
    install JDK then
first set your environment variable like this... upto ur java bin folder.
    JAVE_HOME      C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin
then run your java webstart . goto preferences and there  make proxy as none
now start IR again.. it will start.. if it fails again then take 1-2 more trial to start . It will open.
IN SAP XI/PI, java webstart is used to cache fat clients like IR and ID on local machines. So you need to make JWS proxy as NONE and then run IR or ID. with in 1-2 attemt it will cache all the required files.
then after wards it will run smoothly.
    good luck

actually there are 2 problems here:
file:///Documents and Settings/... will work, but this means the path:
/Documents and Settings/... on the current path.
if you have to include the "c:" part first, then there needs to be only 2 leading slashes, because "/C:/Documents and Settings/..." is not a leagle pathname (even after replacing the file separators).
However the colon (":") char is not legal in a URL, so has to be escaped.
Best to just use: "file:///Documents and Settings/..."

  • Deploying application on Linux machine

    Hi there,
I'm desperately trying to deploy an application on a linux machine - getting
    this error:

The application was written using Weblogic Workshop on WinXP. I've taken the

But unfortunately this leads to an exception.
I just need general information on whether this is normal, that you can't
deploy a Weblogic Workshop application on a usual linux weblogic server.
    thanks kindly,
    Can

What you are trying to do is certainly possible...
I suspect that your domain on Linux is not a workshop domain. I would double-check that you are creating a workshop domain.
    Best regards...

    Hi,
    I have:
    jdk 1.6.0_30
    SQL developer 2.1.1
    both for windows x 64
My system is windows 7 enterprise and in control panel the path for java JRE is C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe
    In sqldeveloper.conf the SetJavaHome is C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_30
The sql developer doesn’t work, the error is: unable to launc the Java Virtual Machine located at path
    C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_30\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll
    Can Someone help me?
    Thanks in advance
    Diego

You could try upgrading to SQL Developer 3 which is more up to date.
Try running <sqldev>\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.exe from a cmd window and see
if there is any more information.
If you type java -version in the same command window what do you get?

  • Very Urgent Unable to Launch Application using Web Start using JDK 1.4.2

    Hi all
I am very serious issue i have ejb client swing application that uses
RMI to contact a session bean deployed in JBoss now i want the client app to be installed in the client machine using web start . Also i understand i require security permission to access network resources. so i have signed all the JAR files with same certificate created using self certificate avialiable in JDK by default also in the JNLP file in have included the following tag
    <security>
    <all-permissions/>
    </security>
Now when I launch my application using Web start it gives an error that " Unsigned application is trying to access local resources"
I unable to understand what could be the problem . Please help me with the steps to be followed where in client should be able to RMI call to the server
    Thanks in Advance
    Naveen

You may have tried this already, but you might have to sign the jars via command line, outside any export process from your IDE.
    $ jarsigner {filename}.jar {key from keystore}
I also had problems using webstart and RMI through an RCP

It happens the same under Windows 7 and Linux -using openJRE and icedtea as substitution of Java Web Start-.
I'm behind a proxy. In my browser -Chrome, IE and FF- putted the info of the proxy and I can browse. Aldo tried to put the info in the Java "Network Settings". It did not work -the launching of the console-.
I installed the last Java Web Start in Windows 7 -Java7 Update5-. I disabled my anti-virus and firewall. Always the same result.
Could you help me please. I don't have idea of what is going on.
    Greetings.
PD: I tested from other machines of the company and it works. So, I guess is my laptop. I exported the oracle certificates from those machine and imported them into mine.
