My application gets downloaded to the client machine but doesnot start up when click on desktop shortcut or start menu.
here is my jnlp file

Please help me with this
Thanks
Rajesh

The first jar will default to main, if it isn't explicitly listed.
What is the error you get when you try to launch the application offline using the shortcut created ? (note, the <shortcut online="false"/> will cause to create shortcut that will launch the application in offline mode)
I notice you name the jar "signedvideo.jar", but do not ask for all-permissions.
If you want to run trusted you must also add
<security><all-permissions/></security>

  • Very Urgent Unable to Launch Application using Web Start using JDK 1.4.2

    Hi all
    I am very serious issue i have ejb client swing application that uses
    RMI to contact a session bean deployed in JBoss now i want the client app to be installed in the client machine using web start . Also i understand i require security permission to access network resources. so i have signed all the JAR files with same certificate created using self certificate avialiable in JDK by default also in the JNLP file in have included the following tag
    <security>
    <all-permissions/>
    </security>
    Now when I launch my application using Web start it gives an error that " Unsigned application is trying to access local resources"
    I unable to understand what could be the problem . Please help me with the steps to be followed where in client should be able to RMI call to the server
    Thanks in Advance
    Naveen

    You may have tried this already, but you might have to sign the jars via command line, outside any export process from your IDE.
    $ jarsigner {filename}.jar {key from keystore}
    I also had problems using webstart and RMI through an RCP

  • Unable to Launch Application error while starting IR

    Dear friends
    I am not a BASIS trained person, but wearing different caps because I am the only SAP engineer in our company and so learning on the job.
    I have installed a new server that has (SAP ECC 6.0, EP and PI). This is an IDES version. The operating system is Windows Server 2003 R2 (64 Bit).
    The menu System -> Status says that  Software Component SAP_BASIS is  Release 700.
    The ECC part is working ok, since I have been using many custom and standard tables, Bapis etc.,
    However, when I give transaction code    "SXMB_IFR"   to start PI, it opens the browser with a message at the top saying "You need to install Javau2122 WebStart 1.4.2. "
    However, I have installed j2sdk1.4.2_17-x64 and entered the environment variable path "C:\j2sdk1.4.2_17-x64".
    When I try to click on 'Integration Repository', it tries to start 'Java Web Start window and after a while fails with a message 'Unable to launch the application'.
    I searched SDN and other blogs and tried suggestions like,
    selecting  Control Panel -> Java and removing temporary internet files. But this didn't help.
    I have installed another server on a 32 bit system and that one doesn't have any issues. The main difference with this one is that it is a 64 bit server and has (ECC, EP and PI) installed on the same server.
    I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions.
    Thanks
    Ram

    Dear Ram
    install JDK then
    first set your environment variable like this... upto ur java bin folder.
    JAVE_HOME      C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin
    then run your java webstart . goto preferences and there  make proxy as none
    now start IR again.. it will start.. if it fails again then take 1-2 more trial to start . It will open.
    IN SAP XI/PI, java webstart is used to cache fat clients like IR and ID on local machines. So you need to make JWS proxy as NONE and then run IR or ID. with in 1-2 attemt it will cache all the required files.
    then after wards it will run smoothly.
    good luck

  • Using web start to deploy a web-application WAR

    I am planning to develope a web-application, that will run in my clients as localhost. My client will have a Tomcat server, and he can run that application in his own computer without Internet.
    By times, and when he have access to Internet, i would like that he check the new version of that application(WAR file) in my Server, and if there is new version, then he will update the application (WAR file).
    Is there any possibilite that I can use Web Start to deploy WARs directly tomcat/webapps/ ??
    In all documentation of web start, they use for *.JAR. but there is no place where say that I can't use web start for WebApplication.

    Not that I'm aware of.
    You can upload your new WAR to his Tomcat server if you have access to /manager/html on his Tomcat.

  • Launched thru Java web Start...?

    Is there a way to find out whether my application is launched through Java Web Start or as a stand-alone application?
    I have think of 2 round about ways -
    - Getting the service names using javax.jnlp.ServiceManager.getServiceNames(), which returns null if launched as a standalone application.
    - Getting the classloader name.
    But, I am looking for one more concrete way of doing it, if any?

    Akhil,
    I was looking for a solution for this very problem and came across a FAQ in another thread that was helpful. See http://vamphq.com/jwsfaq.html and more specifically http://vamphq.com/jwsfaq.html#under

  • Can't load Stylesheet while runing application on Web Start

    I've got an error "WARNING: com.sun.javafx.css.StyleManager$2 run Resource "null" not found" while runing application on Web Start.
    It works fine while running on local execution. I've already signed jar files. So, It shoud not have any problem with java security.
    I kept css in the jar fie. The code below is used for loading css file.
    String stylesheetName = "/theme/default.css";
    scene.getStylesheets().add(stylesheetName);There was a guy who had the same problem with me but there was still no solution for this problem yet. Applet and css
    Does anyone know how to fix it?

    Hello User,
    Your path is wrong. It can't be good if your css file is inside your jar. (This is not a javaFx problem)
    If you pacaked your application like that:
    myapp.jar
    -----theme
    ---------default.css
    You should try something like this:
    scene.getStylesheets().add(getClass().getClassLoader().getResource("/theme/default.css").toString());Niculaiu

  • Has anyone ever used web start in large scale ?

    Dear friends,
    have you ever used some web start application in large scale ?
    i.e., have you distributed some real application with web-start?
    Im doing such experience here and Im a bit afraid about several problems in the final user machine - such as java version, browser incompatibility and mainly with the ugly WebStart cache problems.

    can you give a bit more detail on what exactly you're afraid of? is this a www application? internal business app? etc.
    for example you can force your java version in java web-start,etc...

  • Java - Unable to launch application

    The problem: When I try to run ASDM on my Cisco 5550, I'm getting the dialog box "Unable to launch application". When I click on "Details", I see the error: "The application has requested a version of the JRE (1.5+) that is not installed".
    The system I'm running this on is a Mac Pro with OS X Lion 10.7.5, and the latest Java version 7u13.
    The initial lines of "show ver" on the firewall are:
    # show ver
    Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Software Version 8.2(2)
    Device Manager Version 6.3(3)
    This is a relatively new problem; as recently as two weeks ago I was able to run ASDM with no problem. I suspect that the latest security-related Java updates have caused something to break.
    Any ideas?

    Solved this one on my own: The solution was to install the latest ASDM, 7.1.1_52. (This had occurred to me, but I didn't know if was compatible with the older ASA 8.2(2). It looks like it is!)

  • Override the launch of Java Web Start

    How can we stop the auto launch of Java web start and prompt the user to enter the desired location to download the jars.
    And then launch the jars from that location.
    Is there any solution for this.
    Please help me in this regard
    Nandita

    The whole idea of WebStart is to relieve the user of the burden of downloading binaries themselves. The whole point is, they just click a link on a web page, some magic happens, and their app starts up.
    Your idea is a complete waste of time.

    email:[email protected]

    You can very easily add a JScrollPane manually between the Applet and your content. Perhaps it would be beter if javaws did this automatically. In the browser, an applet can be any size. In Java Web Start an applet is directly contained within a JFrame, so it cannot be smaller than the minimum size of a JFrame, or Larger than the max.

  • Launching external applications from web start

    Hi!
    I am currently working on a management system and I need to launch other management systems from my Java Web Start application. The other systems are either based on web applications (URLs), telnet - needs to set up a telnet session, or running shell scripts or batch files.
    URLs are ok. I am using Desktop.browse in Java 1.6 or I can use BasicService.showDocument in javax.jnlp API.
    My application may run on both windows and linux (ie its launched from the browser). It interacts with a java app on a linux server over RMI.
    How can I lauch a telnet session from my client app?
    Do I have to include apache commons.net and create a telnet module in my app or can i lauch c:\windows\system32\telnet.exe in windows (if my app is lauched on win) and /usr/kerberos/bin/telnet (if my app is lauched in Linux)?
    How can I launch an external .exe application in window and how can I launch any shell script or program in Linux?
    (same as how do i lauch telnet)
    As long as the user is prompted I can see no risk of denying these kind of things so I hope and think that this should be possible!
    PS. I have managed to do it by using Runtime.exec() when running as a non JWS application, but I cannot do it when running as JWS:
    java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission <<ALL FILES>> execute)I dont want to sign the application either. The reason for choosing webstart was to not have to renew certificates at our customers.
    Please help.
    Thanks for taking interest and reading this.. and I hope that someone has some helpful answers for me :)
