  • Instant Messaging Service Questions

    I am a new Mac user and have Microsoft Office for Mac installed on my new MacBook, and I have some questions regarding MSN for Mac.
    As it turns out, the MSN for mac lacks many of the features present the PC version (my primary concern is with my lack of ability to make video calls through the application. I have downloaded a program called Skype, but what I would really like to know is:
    (a) is there a way that I can perform video calls on MSN for Mac, or
    (b) is there an instant messaging service that I could download that would be compatible with contacts made through other services (MSN, AOL, Google, Yahoo, Skype, etc.)?
    I also have some unanswered questions farther back in this forum. I would greatly appreciate any help you might be able to provide with any of these.

    You can do video chats on Yahoo messenger for mac. You can also add your hotmail list in the contact address too. For this visit http://www.yahoo.com and then click on messenger and it would automatically give you the option to download the messenger for mac. Later drag the Yahoo Icon to application menu and get going.
    Do let me know.
    Regards

  • Launching instant messaging component from web dynpro

    Hi
    We have a requirement to launch instant messaging component from a web dynpro java link. Could you tell me what APIs can be used here? Is it possible to launch the component in a new browser window through some API calls?
    From collaboration launch pad if we take the link of instant message from properties and try to open it a new browser instance, we find a message staing "Session not started" and there is some java script error in the page. Also the Send button is invisible and the other buttons Leave Session, Close Session are inactive. Is it possible to launch the messaging window from a url?
    The url we used to launch it is as below.
    http://host:port/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.netweaver.coll.appl.ui.rtc.RTCComponent?jspName=Chat.jsp&paramIndex=2&initiator=X
    Looking forward for your comments.
    Thanks
    Sudeep

    It's possible. On your alv you have to add botton with action to call bsp.
    You can use the following coding to determine the object type...
    CALL METHOD lr_mapping_srv->determine_ui_object_of_bor
        EXPORTING
          iv_bor_object_key  = lv_bor_object_key
          iv_bor_object_type = ls_orderadm_h-object_type
          iv_logical_system  = ls_orderadm_h-logical_system
        RECEIVING
          rv_result          = lv_ui_object_type.
    Then you have to build bsp...
    lv_orderadm_h_guid_c = ls_orderadm_h-guid.
      CONCATENATE
        lc_par0 sy-mandt
        lc_par1 lv_ui_object_type
        lc_par2 lc_display
        lc_par3 lv_orderadm_h_guid_c
        lc_par4 'nocookie'
      INTO lv_query.
      CALL METHOD cl_bsp_runtime=>if_bsp_runtime~construct_bsp_url
        EXPORTING
          in_application = lc_bsp_application
          in_page        = lc_bsp_page
        IMPORTING
          out_abs_url    = lv_open_url.
      CONCATENATE lv_open_url lv_query INTO lv_open_url.
    and finally you have to call browser...
    lo_api_component  = wd_comp_controller->wd_get_api( ).
      lo_window_manager = lo_api_component->get_window_manager( ).
      CALL METHOD lo_window_manager->create_external_window( EXPORTING url = lv_open_url
                                                             RECEIVING window = lo_window ).
      lo_window->open( ).

    unable to reload Itunes, gave me a message  Service apple mobil device fail to start. Verify that you have sufficient previliges to start system service, need help

    Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
    Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
    Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
    The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • Problem with instant message in clustered environment

    Hello, I have some problem with Instant Message service.
    We need to use it in our Production Environment (a clustered emvironment with a central instance, two dialog instances and two web dispatchers), some months ago we tested it in Development Environment (not clustered emvironment, just a single system) and it worked fine.
    So I did the same configurations on Production Environment but it did not work.
    But if I access on my portal (Production Env.) by the central instance (avoiding the dispatchers) the instant message service works.
    I think it can be a web dispatcher's configuration problem, in its logs I found the message :
    "<i>[Thr 3700] *** ERROR => htmlEncode: called with empty string [icpif.cpp 847]</i>"
    I' ve repeated the same configuration done in Dev.Env. (no dispatcher) on the Prod.Env. (with 2 dispatcher), is possible that I'm missing some configurations??
    Could someone helps me?
    Best Regard

    Hi Alessandro,
    unfortunately I got the same problem but I haven't found the solution yet.
    Hoping someone will help us.

  • Messages service keeps crashing after 2.2.2 update

    Ever since updating my Server.app to version 2.2.2, I have been unable to get my Messages service running again. The log files suggest that the jabber service is rebooting every few minutes, and I am unable to authenticate when I try signing in from iChat/Messages. I'm hoping someone here has seen this and may have a solution for this issue.
    Note that I host four domains (the fifth is the server's FQDN), and all are set in the serveradmin tool using:
    sudo serveradmin settings jabber:hostsCommaDelimitedString = "FQDN,domain1,domain2,domain3,domain4"
    This setup was working earlier today and broke immediately following the 2.2.2 update.
    Here's what the Messages Service log files look like for the first 30 seconds when I start the service (and then shut it down):

    I believe that I'm having similar issues -- I can't even get jabber to start after the v2.2.2 upgrade. Would you please post what your jabberd condifuration directory looks like? Here's what I see:
    cd /Library/Server/Messages/Config/jabberd ; ls -l *.xml
    -rw-------  1 _jabber  wheel  25293 Sep 19 22:10 c2s.xml

    -rw-------  1 _jabber  wheel  32648 Sep 19 22:10 sm.xml
    Any ideas how to clear out the jabberd plist/database configuration to start from scratch and get jabberd working again? I've tried
    sudo rm /private/var/run/jabberd/*.pid /Library/Server/Messages/Data/sqlite/jabberd2.db /Library/Preferences/com.apple.messageserver.plist
    But this doesn't help.

  • Instant Message Application with Video/Audio to connect MSN & Skype Users

    Hi,
    Sorry if this has already been a topic, but I wasn't able to find a clear answer. I'm trying to setup an instant messaging service that will allow me to use video/audio conferencing. My friends and family use MSN messenger and also Skype. I'd ideally like to use one service that enables video/audio conferencing in which I can contact my MSN and Skype contacts and be able to contact them (with IM and video) with this service. Please let me know if any such thing exists that fulfills these requirements.
    Thanks,
    Brian

    Check out iVisit. Both parties have to install it though, and it doesn't work together with MSN and Skype. It's simply a solution for Macs and PCs to communicate via audio/video.

  • Urgent BBM Instant Messaging Help!

    Good Day,
     I am inquiring about BBM Instant Messaging service. Are there any features that can allow a company to create a group without a limit on the amount of members that can be added, for the purpose of connecting with customers through a means apart from social networking websites? Or is there any other Blackberry service that will allow the company to do the required? An urgent response will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance

    Sounds like a Windows issue.  Google the error message.  There are several discussions on the Microsoft forums listed that may help.

    Lion no longer supports PowerPC apps. If this is Microsoft Office 2008 (Entourage 2008) then you should disable the syncing services.  (I don't have Office 2008 installed anymore so I don't know exactly what it's called anymore.)  If you have Microsoft Office 2004 or earlier, then it can't be run on Lion at all since Lion removed Rosetta, which is what allowed a PPC app to run on an Intel based Mac.
    Also, I believe Microsoft removed sync services from the current Outlook 2011 (which replaces Entourage) so even upgrading to a newer version of Microsoft Office will not get you back that calendar sync feature.  Supposedly Microsoft is working on a new syncing system, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

    By default the status is supressed so, even if you are logged into Portal it shows that you are offline in Instant Messenger Contact List.
    Do the needful settings as mentioned in first para and try again

    received error message  - the procedure entry point_objc_init_image could not be located in the dynamic link library objc.dll.  unable to launch iCloud.  Any suggections?

    I had roughly the same error. I fixed it by running the iCloud control panel update from apple software update. The problem cropped up after I ran the most recent iTunes update, I've personally been having issues with iTunes updates being finicky since upgrading to Windows 8.1, I've had to download installers rather than running the update directly through Software Update, so it's possible Apple is not fully addressing compatibility issues for newer versions of Windows. Ultimately it seems to be a missing file issue, so any update, installer, or install verification/repair that directly addresses the iCloud files should see and replace the missing file.
    Also it looks like Apple is either unaware of this problem or not addressing it at all, there are about a dozen support requests from within the last month all asking this same question regarding iCloud, just with different specific files unable to be found. None of them have answers.
    Hopefully this works for you

  • HP 7520 Photosmart scanning error message: Unable to connect to Web Services

    After many successful efforts in the past, suddenly I cannot scan to email on my HP Photosmart 7520. I have tried several of the solutions posted to no avail. I keep getting the error message "Unable to connect to Web Services. Confirm Iternet access and try again." I'm on Mac OS X. Very frustrating; I would appreciate help.

    Hello skagitsusan,
    Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
    I am not 100% as to the steps you have tried in attempt to resolve the Scan to Email issue on the 7520, but I would like to offer the steps I have given in another Thread.
    Re: Trouble scanning using Photosmart 6520 <---
    The steps will cover your printer, even though they are different Photosmarts.
