Unable to launch iTunes 10.4

I am able to install iTunes 10.4 but when I try to launch it, nothing happens. Task Manager shows iTunes.exe for a few seconds then it disappears.
I've tried reinstalling iTunes multiple times following this guide http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923.
iTunes is able to launch when I created a new user but following this guide http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717 didn't work.
Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

Okay everyone I found a solution that worked for me and I hope will work for each of you. For those who have not read my previous post I am running a PC with Windows Vista. I checked the other apple software that I have on my pc and noticed that Quicktime would open but was not working properly. With the link between Quicktime and iTunes, I decided to switch my efforts to Quicktime over iTunes. So, I went into my control panel and uninstalled Quicktime. I then went to apple.com/quicktime/download/ and installed Qicktime 7.7 for windows. I completed the install and was then able to open iTunes. It almost seemed to simple. I hope this helps.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Hi b noir...I thought I did "precise text" when I said I'm unable to launch iTunes. There is no error message there is nothing...it just does not launch. However, I figured it out...it's a Quicktime issue. Weird but it was.

Unable to launch itunes 9.02 64bit on Windows 7 64bit

I just got a new computer running windows 7 home premium.
Downloaded the latest version of itunes and installed it with no issues.
after install i left the box checked to "launch itunes" only nothing happened.
If i try to launch the app from desktop it shows up in my task manager then removes itself 15sec later.
Same thing happens with quicktime.
The apple software updater will work.
I've uninstalled, rebooted, and the issue remains.
I'm at a bit of a loss here. Any ideas on where to start troubleshooting this issue?

I've read that the best thing to do with pre-installed Windows 7 is to... install a retail version sans bloatware and trialware.
Newegg sells the System Builder, or try reinstall.
As for Norton, they have a removal tool on their Community forum and web site, uninstall doesn't always do a good job (if it was NIS/NAV 2010 or N360 v4, those may be Windows 7 compatibile, earlier version are not).

Unable to launch iTunes recently after my windows vista update

TS1717 Unable to launch Itunes

When I try to launch itunes, I get a blank window with "OK" in but no other message, I can click on the OK, but nothing happens and itunes doesn't launch! I have tried checking for updates, and I have also shut down and re-started. To no avail. Lastly I tried to open itunes in "safe mode" but nothing happened!
Can anyone help please??

The best method is to completely remove iTunes and related components and then reinstall iTunes again.

TS1470 I have Norton Security but unable to launch iTunes

I have not been able to launch iTunes from Windows 7. Not sure if this is due to some sort of security configuration that is on my Norton Security>

No error message is received. I would click on iTunes icon to launch and nothing happens.
Can you check something for me please?
Restart your PC. after the PC restarts, bring up your Task manager, and go to the "Processes" tab. Click "Image name" to sort the processes alphabetically.
Now try to launch iTunes.
Does an itunes.exe process appear? If so, does it vanish after a second or so, or does it persist in the Processes tab (even though iTunes itself never shows up)?

Unable to launch iTunes 10.2.1

I'm having problems when trying to open iTunes 10.2.1 in Windows 7 (64-bit).
When I try to launch the program it loads for about 2 seconds and then stops. The iTunes.exe *32 process does appear in task manager. I have tried ending the process but nothing happens - it does not disappear from the list.
I have tried a complete reinstall to no avail. I have also tried disabling the Bonjour service, which hasn't helped.
I have also tried opening the program in compatibility mode, but this doesn't work either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If stopping Bonjour did not work, then another thing it might be is a problem with the configuration file, see this Apple article:

There have been some reported of iTunes being very very slow to start. If you wait 15 mins or so, does iTunes eventually open?

It is important to establish iof the problem is system wide or confined to one account.

I don't know what suddenly caused this. I haven't installed anything weird or obscure, I've kept up with all of the normal updates for Windows, my anti-virus, and other normal software (Adobe, Apple products, Steam). So all I did today was double-clicked on the iTunes icon, and the prompt that I supplied kept popping up. I did what I could out of the information provided, however there was quite a bit of difference between the XP format and Windows 7. After trying what I could, I was still receiving the same error message. Besides trying to fix this issue, I'm also trying to figure out how this whole thing started to begin with.

Since the upgrade I can not load the STORE. Itunes automated! customer service advisers
do not seem to know either.
I have been told to REMOVE Itunes/Quicktime and reload - done - Store worked First time,
then the next time it failed! just a slow load bar and NO STORE.
They then advised REMOVE Itunes/Quicktime and reload Older version - done - Itunes would not load
as it said my itl was for a LATER version and to upgrade.
Upgraded the Store worked FIRST time. then again NEXT load it fails.
So now they directed me to the Forum. shocking that they dont KNOW whats going on.
So any one out there got any ideas?
I read back and seen this happened in previous updates, but cant find a solution!

Do you know whats starting to really annoy me, is APPLE Customer Support.
Each time I email its a different person replying and they are SO automated in replies,
and have NOT solved my issue. Nor does it seem ANYONE cares to really deal with it.
One even ended its email with " have a great time using our Store" HELLO I CANT!
sigh
so what do i do as it stands at present NOTHING. No Itunes Store nor an effective CS person
to assist.

I have already checked the compatibility with Safari, my operating system and checked my firewall is not blocking it - all is fine.

IMO Adobe left a Program out of the typically list namely Photoshop

To fix the update install problems I've had with CC I use the direct installer I downloaded from Download New Adobe CC Trials: Direct Links (no Assistant/Manager) | ProDesignTools Follow the download instruction to the letter otherwise you will be denied access. Once to have it. Install CC on top of itself. That will back level CC to CC version 14.0. Then use Photoshop menu Help>Updates. All updates should install and all the extensions and addition you made to cc will still be there.

That sounds extremely phishy to me... iTunes does not require authentication simply to launch it. I suspect you've got something nasty intercepting network traffic. That server may be set up to log the Apple ID that you enter so it can be used fraudulently. Try ComboFix from Bleeping Computer.
FWIW the domain mellor.co is registered to an accountants in Knutsford, Cheshire, UK, and produces the same authentication request if visited with a browser. There is no sign of a "real" publicly visible website at that domain which is a somewhat odd.
