Unable to launch Soundtrack Pro 2.0.1 (Fresh Install)

I've just installed Logic Studio on a clean installation of Leopard (10.5.1) on my dual 2ghz G5. For some reason Soundtrack Pro 2.0.1 immediately quits upon launch with the error *"The application Soundtrack Pro quit unexpectedly."*
I've attempted to reinstall only Soundtrack Pro 2 from the Logic Studio disc, but this does not resolve the issue.
Prior to installing Logic Studio, I had installed Final Cut Studio 1 (which included Soundtrack Pro version 1), so I don't know if this prior installation in some way conflicted with it.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions it would be much appreciated!

I've figured it out!
I'm posting the solution here in hopes that it will help out anyone else who may be running into this issue.
For some reason the Logic Studio installer was not installing the ProAppsMetaDataSupport framework needed by Soundtrack Pro 2. This may have to do with my previous existing installation of Final Cut Studio 1, which contained Soundtrack Pro 1 and Compressor 2.3.1.
Here's what I did to remedy my issue...
1) Delete all Soundtrack Pro 1.x system files
2) Delete all Compressor & QMaster files (for directions, see:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302845
3) Upon running Logic Studio, I noticed that though I could install Soundtrack Pro 2, the option to install Compressor was grayed out and indicated 'Skip'. I quite the installer and realized it was necessary to install Compressor directly using the package file.
4) On the Logic Studio disc, control-click the *Install Logic Studio* icon and select *Show Original*. This will take you to a hidden folder containing all of the individual installation packages.
4) To install Compressor first, open Compressor.mpkg
5) After I installed Compressor, I chose to run the main Logic Studio installer, and chose to install Soundtrack Pro.The installation for Soundtrack Pro should run normally, and it should install the ProMetaDataframework automatically.
I also did notice that the installation packages folder did contain an entry for ProAppsMetadataSupport.pkg, so you may be able to run this if it for some reason doesn't install.
After this, both applications finally launched perfectly! Ok, time for bed.

  • Unable to launch Premiere Pro CC

Hi, I've downloaded Creative Cloud, and Premiere Pro.
On launching Premiere Pro, it gets to "ImporterQuicktime.prm"
Then I get an error message: "Premiere Pro could not find any capable video play modules"
I've signed in and out of CC, updated the graphics drivers & tried running as administrator.
    It worked fine with CS6.
What next? I'm hoping to move to CC on 3 other edit desks - so I need to see one running right first!
    System spec:
    Windows 7 Professional
    Intel core i7-3930K CPU @ 3.20GHz
    32gb ram
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti GeForce driver 320.18

    Hi, same here.
    My System:
    Dell Preciion M4700
    Windos 7 64 Bit
    Intel i7-3740QM
    ATI FirePro M4000
    8GB RAM
With my old graphic card Premiere crashed with the Message "Premiere Pro could not find any capable video play modules" or just right after start. I´ve tested a lot, updated Drivers and finally bought a new graphic card because my old one (Nvidia K1000M) was not listed as compatible card. With this new card, Premiere crashed instandly.
Finally the Vista compatability mode does the job. Whats wrong?

  • Unable to launch Premier Pro 1.5

I have for the first time installed Premier Pro 1.5 on WIndows Vista version and cannot get it to work. What should be done? I use a Toshiba Satellite laptop computer. How do I also get the software plug-in to work?
    Thanks.
    K.O.

    Welcome to the forum.
As Jeremy points out, it might not be possible, but then again, it might.
Let's go to the beginning. When you installed PrPro 1.5, did the installation go well? Any error messages?
If the installation went well, are you running as Administrator?
When you launch PrPro, you will get a Splash Screen. There is a tiny line of text that indicates what is loading. Does your launch get past the Splash Screen? If not, what is the last line of text (you have to look closely, as it is small)? It is likely that that is the module, .dll, etc., that is halting the launch. Or, it could be the next, the one that we do not see. Still, knowing the last line could be useful. If necessary, set up a video camera to record the Splash Screen and then play back the tape, pausing on the last entry in that line of text. This ARTICLE might be helpful, especially if you have any VST's installed on your system, say from an audio-editor.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

  • MacBook Pro locking up after fresh install...

I was givin a MacBook Pro (A1276) at my old job because we had a customer that didn't want to pay for repairs and just was sick of looking at it. So I took it on as a project. Now I'm quite seasoned with PC's and Windows based software, but Mac and OSX I've never had to work on at this level. So I'm lost. This system has a Core2 Duo @ 2.40GHz, 4GB DDR3, 500GB Toshiba HDD, GeForce 320M... anything short of slow. Esspesialy for an operation system that makes better use of it's resources than say, Windows.
Now, originally, it was running so slow, a reinstall of OSX (Mavericks) over the internet via recovery, wasnt even possible. ANY thing you tried to do, would start the system beachballing non-stop. It would just sit like that for hours. After opening the laptop up, reseating ALL visable connections on the mainboard, everything started to work. I was finally able to complete a restore using Mavericks and got it up and running like a hot knife through butter. Now, after about a day or so of use, it starts acting up again. You open ANYTING, and it locks up and starts beachballing again. I've reinstalled OSX 5 times now, same thing each time. Works for a while, then is unuseable. But before I couldnt even do that much. Now I started to think it is the HDD, but it always passes every test I run. I dont know what to try next. The system isnt running hot, and nothing is eating at the CPU. It just, locks up... Someone help me!

  • 2012 i7 MacBook pro formatting a SSD Fresh install

Hi-I found a couple of ways on YouTube on how to install a fresh OSX on a new SSD but wanted to see how the support here say it should be done ! One said to do it straight from the Internet and another said to make a USB stick with the download from apple site (OSX assistant recovery ) and update it from there !   I had changed my HD when I first got the MacBook new and just switched out drives to an SSD but since then I found out space ran out on a 120 GB so now I got 256GB to install next week ! , I have the latest OSX installed now.

Both methods are near the same but with a difference: Internet Recovery is only compatible with Mid 2010 MacBook Pro or newer, so if you have an older one, you can't use it.
The best way is to download OS X Mountain Lion from the App Store and, when the download finishes, use Lion Diskmaker to make a USB drive with a bootable OS X Mountain Lion image > http://liondiskmaker.com Doing this, you won't have to download OS X each time you want to reinstall it.
To start from the USB drive, hold the Option (Alt) key while your MacBook Pro is starting, and select the USB drive. Then, install OS X as usual. If you don't see any destination disk to install OS X, use Disk Utility to format the hard drive in "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" as Format > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU1.html

  • FCPx Update - soundtrack pro

Hi all, stuck at work so cant update yet
With the new patch, will we now be able to round trip to soundtrack pro?

Actually, under the Compressor Update info on the App Store ... under the "more" part, it says
"Removes stability issues when launching Soundtrack Pro after Compressor 4 is installed."
    Hope this helps,

Any idea how I go about fixing this?

Soundtrack Pro is an old version and people often break older versions by installing brand new versions of ProKit, QuickTime, etc. Have you installed any updates recently?

  • Soundtrack Pro cannot launch. Missing PtoFX.framework

Just installed Logic Studio 9 and ran the updater to make sure I have the latest versions of everything.
Logic Pro, Main Stage ... work fine, but Soundtrack Pro would not open. Here is what I get
    Dyld Error Message:
    Library not loaded: /Library/Application Support/ProApps/SharedA/Frameworks/ProFX.framework/Versions/A/ProFX
    Referenced from: /Applications/Soundtrack Pro.app/Contents/MacOS/Soundtrack Pro

I searched left and right for the solution to no avail.
I put in the installation disc again, but I cannot select Soundtrack Pro (Or Compressor for that matter) to be installed. It is simply in the disabled state.
    Can anyone help?

A small caveat - I could not get the Compressor to work using this method so Compressor still crashes as soon as it opens up.
I did some more digging around and found the following.
    1) Soundtrack Pro and Compressor were not installed originally with Logic Studio. The installer said that I already had newer version installed. I never installed Soundtrack pro or Compressor before. /Library/Receipts does not contain any references to either one.
    2) I tried to remove both apps according to Apple instructions to no avail. Installer still thinks I have them.
    3) I tried (following Apple recommendations) changing the value of the Soundtrack Pro version to force the software update to update Soundtrack Pro. Changing version from 3.0.1 to 3.0.0 does nothing. Changing it to 2.0.1 prompts to install 2.0.2 which I did not want to do since I am not sure what kind of damage that will do to the rest of the system.
So basically - if anyone knows how to force the installer to install Soundtrack Pro from the actual Logic Pro DVD - that would be the real solution.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Export with effect / bus is buggy (Soundtrack Pro 2.02)

    Hi,
I get a very annoying problem which seems to be a bug.
I have a bus send on one track, and a Space Designer reverb inserted on that Bus track.
Some volume automation has been made on that Bus1 track, so that the reverb return
    is tailed as needed.
While exporting a master stereo track, the result does not match what is heard on playback.
The reverb return (Bus1) is too loud, the file is too long, etc ...
I've tried other reverb inserts and settings with no luck.
Is anyone having the same problem ??
    Thanks very much in advance

I don't know what you mean by " the elements are the same as the project? "
and yes, I've tried every kind of export file settings (same bit depth, same resolution, and different ones) and the problem still occured.
Now the "good" news is I've had one success last night doing one export after quitting and re-launching Soundtrack Pro ... I'm not exactly sure every parameter was respected but I obtained a file with a correct length with the reverb ( Bus1) automation included. So I'll try again and see ...
I don't know how it could work since I only quit and relaunched but apparently it did ...
Btw, I do think Exporting at normal speed should be an option, for best audio results. You can't export 5 or so * faster in a so called "pro" audio app ...
    thanks for your help

  • Cant install SOUNDTRACK PRO 3 on logic 9

hi i installed logic 9 a few weeks ago and ive just realised it didn't install SOUNDTRACK PRO 3 when i put the logic studio install dvd in it will only let me skip it and (compressor) any help would be appreciated
    many thanks
    ricky jones

I did find an earlier post on this…
[  I spoke with Apple Support. The problem appears to be that Compressor is required to install Soundtrack Pro and Compressor was not installing on my computer. We removed all of the "receipts" in the library and copied them to a backup folder on the desktop. Then, we inserted the Logic Studio install disk and now it allowed me to install both Compressor and SoundTrack Pro (previously the Compressor box was grayed out). Then, I updated the software using Software Update, copied the receipts back into the folder (importantly - you do not replace any duplicate receipts when you copy the files back) and restarted the computer. Now I can launch both Soundtrack Pro and Compressor.
Your mileage may vary and you may wish to have Apple help you along the way but I wanted to let everyone know the outcome.
    Thanks.

  • Soundtrack Pro Crashes at Startup

    Please Help!
I can not open Soundtrack Pro. I purchased and installed the Final Cut Studio Suite 5.1 and everything has been working fine. For some reason, though, I can't get Soundtrack Pro to open when it had been working fine up to this point. I have tried re-installing, trashing preferences, zapping PRAM, starting from install CD and running disk utility. Nothing is working. Does anyone have any ideas or do I need to contact Apple Support.
    Thanks!
MacBook Pro 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 GB SDRAM

I broke down and called Apple Support. Fortunately I was still under the 90 warranty for the Apple Pro Series Software and did not have to pay. I spoke with a nice gentleman who was very patient. We tried everything and were about to do an "archive and re-install" of the Mac OS when the tech had one final idea, which he thought would be a long shot. Well... IT WORKED!
The problem occurred when I did the recommended "Pro Application Support 4.0" software update. Something must of installed improperly or got corrupted. Here is how we fixed it...
First we trashed the following folder:
    Macintosh HD/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ProKit.framework
Then we downloaded and re-installed the Pro Application Support 4.0 update again:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/proapplicationsupport40.html
    That was it! Problem solved.
    Hopes this helps!

  • Have Logic/Peak 5 - Do I need Soundtrack Pro?

I recently did an erase & install of my system and have been slowly putting everything back together. A few years ago, before buying Logic Express (and ultimately Logic Pro), I had purchased Soundtrack because it seemed useful. Shortly after that, I took advantage of a great deal to update my copy of Peak LE to Peak 4 (and subsequently Peak 5). When Apple offered the upgrade path from Soundtrack to Soundtrack Pro, I took advantage of that (is it any wonder I'm in debt?!).
Well, I realized that between using Logic Pro and Peak, I never used Soundtrack Pro even though I had installed it. As I'm re-installing my computer software, I'm wondering if I should even bother installing Soundtrack Pro. Can anyone see any benefit? I'm doing some composing to picture, but so far Logic's been able to handle that fine. 'Mastering' and converting vinyl work smoothly in Peak. Should I bother with Soundtrack Pro?
If not, I'm thinking I should just sell it on ebay or something, but I'm not real sure of how that works for software. According to the Apple Software License Agreement, "You may, however, make a one-time permanent transfer of all of your license rights to the Apple Software to another party..." Does that mean I need to contact Apple when the sale happens (or before, or after)? Anyone have experience with this sort of thing?
Thanks a lot for any thoughts....

Thanks everyone! Mike, after marking the other responses as 'Helpful' I was going to do the same for yours, but the option wasn't there (only 'Solved' which I'm not quite at yet....). I can totally see the usefulness of Soundtrack, I just want to run a lean machine free from any stuff I won't truly be needing considering what I've already got.
Okay, so I think I'll take my chances with selling it on ebay. I'll actually include both the original Soundtrack box and the Soundtrack Pro box, just to make sure everything's all clear.
Now, what kinds of steps do I need to take to officially transfer my Soundtrack license(s) to a potential buyer? I don't want there to be any confusion for someone that might purchase it, or any screwiness going on with my Apple registration account.
    Thanks!
