  • Not able to get the tables in crystal report 2008

    Hi,
    I am using crystal report 2008 and trying to connect MS SQL using OLE DB (ADO) connection. After giving all DB credentials data base tables are not appearing in the connection. how to get the tables for selection in crystal report 2008.
    Regards,
    Sree

    In the CR Designer, select the connection and press the right mouse button. Select Options in the context menu and check if there is an entry in the Table name fiel. Maybe you have a placeholder there that does not match the names of the tables in the database. Just remove it, close the window by pressing OK and refresh the connection browser (press F5). Unfold the connection again and check if you can see the tables now.

  • Crystal Reports 2008; Can't select the certain table. Why?

    Please help me everyone!
    problem note:
    I'm using Crystal Report 2008 to access MS SQL Server 2005 Database.
    Everything was good until last month.
    But somehow when I select the table "FTABLE11C", Crystal Repors hanging-up and no more Crystal Reports works.
    If I copy the FTRAN11C to different name such as "aaa" using following statement and use Crystal Reports then I can select the "aaa" whthout problems.
    Select * into aaa from FTRAN11C.
    So, I drop the tbale FTRAN11C and copy FTRAN11C from aaa table using following statement,
    select * into FTRAN11C from aaa
    and select the FTRAN11C again on Crystal Reports 2008, Crystal Reports 2008 hanging-up again.
    I'd like to know how to solve this situation.
    Thanks.
    1. We didn't have any patch on SQL Server.
    2. I delete one field on table that named "FTRAN11C".
       That's all.
    3. I tried following steps;
       a. Copy the file to another name.
            Select * into aaa from FTRAN11C
       b. Droped the bad table.
            Drop table FTRAN11C
       c. Copy back from saved table.
            Select * into FTRAN11C from aaa
    4. Open Crystal Reports 2008
       a. Connect to database with OLD DB.
           Crystal Reports shows all the tables within database without any problems.
       b. Select the table aaa.
           No problems. It shows on right side box.
       c. Select the table FTRAN11C that is recently created from saved table.
           Now we have problems.
            It does not shows on right side box.
            Little circle displaying forever.
            If I click right side x, Crystal Reports 2008 is closed.
    5. If I use following command on SQL Server Management Studio Express, all of data shows without any problems.
           Select * from FTRAN11C

    Install all patches as you are on the original release:
    Be sure you have the keycode, used to install the product, I will not be able to get you a new one if you lose it or don't have it available.
    The easiest way to update is to uninstall CR 2008 and then install Service Pack 3 full build:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009989492010E/cr2008_sp3_fullbuild.zip
    Then install SP 4:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100008782452011E/cr2008sp4.exe
    Then test your reports again.
    As for using/upgrading to CR 2011 it's not required and likely won't make any difference but you can upgrade if you want of course.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 - Changing Table Locations

    Hello,
    we have several reports which we use by different customers. The customers use different name spaces (table locations) for the same data. To use the same reports with different table locations, we wrote a piece of software replacing the connection strings and table locations.
    Example:
    A report should be used in a test environment as well as in a production environment:
      The original SQL is (using a DB2 database on a AS400):
        SELECT alias.name FROM as400.production.users alias
      The modified SQL looks like:
        SELECT alias.name FROM as400.test.users alias
    Up to now we used Crystal XI and developed using RDC. We solved the above described problem by reading the report SQL string, replacing the table location in this string and assigned it back to the report object. Modifying the SQL string has the advantage that it works fine also for reports which contain a SQL command.
    Since Crystal Reports 2008 this is not possible anymore (no RDC, no direct way to modify the report SQL string).
    My first approach was to use the CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table object. First I just wanted to see what really was the content of the Location and Name property:
    for (int i = 0; i < rdReport.Database.Tables.Count; ++i)
      Table rt = rdReport.Database.Tables<i>;
      Console.WriteLine("Table Nr : {0}", i);
      Console.WriteLine("  Table Loc  : {0}", rt.Location);
      Console.WriteLine("  Table Name : {0}", rt.Name);
    My problem with this is that the output for the report with the SQL in the above example is:
    Table Nr: 0
      Table Loc : users
      Table Name: alias
    So obviously not the real table location and table name is returned, but instead the table name for the table location and the alias for the table name. Unsurprisingly setting the location had not the originally desired effect.
    Furthermore if the report was designed using a SQL command, the location and in the name property contain the string COMMAND. Therefore the table object doesn't seems to be the solution to my problem.
    Thanks to the help of a user in this forum here, I figured out how to read the SQL string of a report. Unfortunately I did not found a way to assign it back to the report.
    Has anybody here an idea how to solve my problem? I'm open for every kind of hint.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ron

    My solution looks like this:
    ReportDocument rdReport = new ReportDocument();
    rdReport.Load(sReportName, OpenReportMethod.OpenReportByTempCopy);
    CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ClientDoc.ISCDReportClientDocument rcDocument = rdReport.ReportClientDocument;
    for (int i = 0; i < rdReport.Database.Tables.Count; ++i)
        CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.ISCRTable rctTable = rcDocument.DataDefController.Database.Tables<i>;
        if (rctTable.ClassName == "CrystalReports.CommandTable")
            Console.WriteLine("Processing CommandTable {0}",rctTable.Name);
            Console.WriteLine("  Old Qualified Name: {0}", rctTable.QualifiedName);
            Console.WriteLine("  Old Alias:          {0}\n" , rctTable.Alias);
            CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.CommandTable tbOldCmd = (CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.CommandTable) rctTable;
            CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.CommandTable tbNewCmd = new CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.CommandTable();
            tbNewCmd.Name = tbOldCmd.Name;
            tbNewCmd.Alias = tbOldCmd.Alias;
            tbNewCmd.CommandText = sNewSql;

  • New Crystal Reports 2008 Server Installation - Unable to log on...

    Hi,
    For the first time, I installed Crystal Reports 2008 on a Windows 2008, 64bit server.
    When I load up the CMC, I end up getting a server not found error.  I proceeded to load up the CCM, and noticed that Apache and the related logon credentials are working fine.  I see a green arrow next  to the server name.
    I click on the "Manage Servers" icon and the servername, user name, and authentication is pre-filled.  I enter in the password and receive the following error:
    Unable to log on: Could not connect to server servername.  Please check that the server name is correct, and that the server is running.
    Can anyone offer suggestions on how to troubleshoot further?
    Thank You,
    Chris

    can you access apache root? try hitting http://servername:8080/
    If not is tomcat running in the CCM?

  • Unable to create reports in Crystal Reports 2008

    In Crystal Reports 2008 we are getting the error message while creating a new report or refreshing the old ones.
    Logon failed.
    Details:HY000:[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-06413: Connection not open.

    Please help
    Wini

    I have found another thread really interesting, might help you too.. here it is
    There are a number of reasons  this error can occur.   The most common  is that the TNS connect descriptor can't be parsed correctly.
    Read an article about this --  The main thrust was:
    "You are using reserved symbols to identify the client computer.  Sqlnet/Net8 has a character set for keyword value entries, which is  restricted to single-byte characters.  However certain single-byte characters are reserved symbols within Sqlnet/Net8. These reserve symbols are:
                      ( ) = \ " ' #
    Sqlnet/Net8 passes client information, such as host, username, and program executable to the database during connection establishment  as part of an 'exteneded' connected discriptor.  Using a reserved
    character can cause connection failures resulting in ORA-6413, Connection not open errors.  In particular the open and close parenthesis symbols ( ) being used to identify the client computer.
    This would be noticeable in the Sqlnet.log where the errors are shown."
    This refers back to a bug Bug No. 813483
    Problem: When a WinNT client machine is rebooted, the first connection attempt to the database fails with
    ora-6413.
    Diagnostic Analysis: connection fails on the first attempt after a machine reboot. Subsequent tries succeeds.
    Reproducibility: every time.
    The second issue:   Check your tnsnames.ora file  if you are missing the "_" or "underbar / underscore" of any   line, this error will be returned.  ( ie, like   ADDRESS_LIST  or CONNECT_DATA
    ie:
    xxxx.foo.bar.com =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS_LIST =
            (ADDRESS =
              (COMMUNITY = tcp.world)
              (PROTOCOL = TCP)

  • Unable To Print or Access Page Setup in Crystal Reports 2008

    I have Win 7 32 bit, and installed Crystal Reports 2008 last week (v12.0.0.683 from the Help window).
    Every time I open a report, and from the Preview tab clicking File -> Print, or File - > Page Setup, I immediately receive a Windows message that "Crystal Reports has stopped working".  After a few seconds, another Windows message displays "Crystal Reports has stopped working - a problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".  Then Crystal completely closes.
    I downloaded sample reports from the BO website, and still receive the error, so I don't think it's the report.
    When I view the Event Log, I see the following:
    Faulting application name: crw32.exe, version: 12.0.0.683, time stamp: 0x47c8be9a
    Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bdadb

    I have uninstalled and reinstalled CR 2008 multiple times and continue to receive the same error.  I tried updating to SP1 (Version 12.1.0.892 Incremental) but I receive the following error: "A BusinessObjects product at a lower patch level is detected.  The installation cannot continue.  Please update all installed products to the SP1 patch level, then restart this installation".
    Need to print my reports - any ideas?

    Sorry busy on Support cases and they take precedence over this community forum.
    Very interesting....
    In a test application I use I have this routine to get the local printers:
    private void frmMain_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
         if (System.Drawing.Printing.PrinterSettings.InstalledPrinters.Count > 0)
              foreach(String myPrinter in System.Drawing.Printing.PrinterSettings.InstalledPrinters )
                   cboCurrentPrinters.Items.Add(myPrinter);
              cboCurrentPrinters.SelectedIndex = 0;
         else
              rdoCurrent.Enabled = false;
              EnableDisableCurrentControls(false);
         //For printers exposed to System account as per MS Kbase
         //http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;184291
         //Look to HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Devices
         Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey mySystemPrinters =
              Microsoft.Win32.Registry.Users.OpenSubKey(@".DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Devices");
         foreach (String defaultPrinters in mySystemPrinters.GetValueNames())
              cboDefaultPrinters.Items.Add(defaultPrinters);
         if (cboDefaultPrinters.Items.Count > 0)
              cboDefaultPrinters.SelectedIndex = 0;
         else
              rdoDefault.Enabled = false;
    Note the MS Kabse on where the printer registry is. Now the odd part is on one of my test development PC's it won't populate the Default User Printer list, only the Local User Printers. I take this same app to another PC and it works just fine. The register keys are there but for some reason on my Windows 7 64 bit it won't show them, the other strange part is I have full access to both keys. I have not been able to figure out why this happens...
    I'm thinking this may be related to your issue.... But I don't have a solution, very strange... I've even gone into regedit32 and set full permissions on the various keys and it still doesn't work...
    I have other VM-ware images if I need to get past that part for testing so I never drilled into why, I believe it has to be some Windows/Firewall/Anti-virus configuration or something our IT department pushed into my local Profile.... What that is I don't know unfortunately.
    I'll do some looking and testing. You may want to post this on Microsoft forums as well.... Ask about printer permissions.
    Thanks

  • Unable to display Crystal Reports 2008 PDF output on smart phones

    Hi Folks,
    I'm not sure if this is the proper forum, but here goes. I am just finishing a large ASP.NET web app which makes extensive use of Crystal Reports 2008 and a CrystalReportViewer control.  My users routinely e-mail the reports in PDF format. This works great, except now they tell me that when the recipient of the e-mail tries to open the PDF on an iPhone or Blackberry, it will not open. The PDF's open fine on desktop computers.
    Here is the code which generates the PDF and attaches it to the e-mail msg.
    //  export to PDF, then mail that
    SmtpClient client = new SmtpClient();
    MailAddress from = new MailAddress(ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["ReportMailFrom"].ToString());
    MailMessage message = new MailMessage();
    message.From = from;
    message.SubjectEncoding = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8;
    message.Subject = "E-mail BackOffice report: " + strReportName;
    MemoryStream memStream = (MemoryStream)rptDoc.ExportToStream(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat);
    Attachment data = new Attachment(memStream, MediaTypeNames.Application.Pdf);
    ContentDisposition disposition = data.ContentDisposition;
    disposition.CreationDate = DateTime.Now;
    disposition.ModificationDate = DateTime.Now;
    disposition.FileName = strReportName + ".pdf";
    disposition.DispositionType = DispositionTypeNames.Attachment;
    message.Attachments.Add(data);
    client.Send(message);
    Any ideas on what is happening here and how to make these PDF's visible to smart phones?
    Thanks.
    Dan

    Hi Dan,
    What happens if you export from Crystal Reports designer?
    I just tried if and BlackBerry tells me I am about to download a file that cannot be viewed on the phone. It doesn't say why though.
    Going through the Platforms file it doesn't mention smart phones so it would indicate we don't support them in that format.
    HTML worked but not pretty. You'll have to see what Blackberry does support. I found this one kbase article from them:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB11245&sliceId=SAL_Public&dialogID=206744335&stateId=1%200%20206742756
    I'm testing more but I believe this is a blackberry limit and not CR.
    Seems they do support it but very limited.
    Thank you

  • Unable to Schedule Crystal reports 2008 based on MSAS 2000

    Hi,
       I created Crystal Report 2008 (XI R 3.1 SP3 FP 3.2) on Cube MSAS 2000 SP4. I do not see any option to configure database credentials. While creating report in the wizard I did not enter any User name and Password Info (I have admin credentials to Cube but when I give these credentials and try to create report, CR designer hangs, not sure why?). The idea is to pick cube level security for the user who is trying to view / refesh the report.
    Could you please help: 1. To configure Database info in CMC
                                           2. To implement cube level security to these crystal reports.
    Nanda Kishore.

    Hi Experts,
      Could you please help. My intention to capture Cube Level Security while refrshing Crystal Reports in Infoview.
      I am uanble to refresh report in Infoview.

  • Unable to install Crystal Reports 2008 SP07

    Hi, everyone
    Currently using
    Crystal Reports 2008 Product: 12.4.0.966
    I have the problem about installation of Crystal Reports 2008 Service Pack.
    I could upgrade it to SP4. However, I'm not able to install Crystal Reports 2008 Service Pack 07 update due to the error message product version is too old.
    Does someone have any similar experience?
    Regrards,
    Kano

    Hello Takumo,
    You can upgrade to SP7 only if you have SP5 or SP6 install. This is why you are getting error when upgrading from SP4 to SP7.
    So, you have to follow this path CR2008 SP4 -> SP5 or SP6 -> SP7
    Else you can also install full build as suggested by Abhilash.
