Unable to listen to iTunes

Recently computer changed drive letter assignments on external harddrive where iTunes and music is located. Now I am unable to listen to any music in iTunes. I changed the location in preferences and advanced settings under folder location. Still no help. So I tried to reinstall iTunes and it asks for folder destination. The last previous location was K:, now it is L:(don't know why it changed, no new hardware). It will not let me change folder destination to L: in setup . It states unable to find k: and then it goes to finish. Hopefully someone can help Thanks in advance!

If both your library datbase files and you music were on the external drive, you may be able to get round this by starting iTunes with the shift key held down. You should be invited to choose a library. Navigate to the iTunes folder on your extrenal drive and choose iTunes Library.itl.
Note this only works if iTunes Library.itl was on the extrenal drive.

  • Unable to listen to itunes on my computer after using AppleTV

Since using homesharing today and listening to itunes on the AppleTV I have not been able to listen to music on my computer. Every time is selct a song to play it says "connecting to AppleTV" and no sounds comes out my computer.
I turned off homesharing on the AppleTV.
I turned off homesharing on the computer.
I put the AppleTV into 'sleep mode'.
    I rebooted my computer.
NOTHING HAS WORKED. How has AppleTV taken over control of my system and not letting go?
My media, on my hard drive, my iTunes, my speakers and stil connot play anything. What's up?

Check the iTunes window pane lower right for the Airplay speaker button - you may have selected AppleTv as the output speaker rather than Computer - this works independently of Home Sharing.

  • Unable to listen to iTunes purchased music after swaping shell.

My Dell D600 computer broke down. No big surprise coming from that model. I had the shell swapped and kept the same hard drive, but can no longer listen to the songs I purchased from iTunes. This even includes new downloads since the swap. All of the music I uploaded from CDs works just fine.
I receive the following to error messages:
    1. This computer is not authorized to play "Song Name". Would you like to authorize it? (I enter my password and click "Authorize">)
    iTunes accesses Music Store
    2. Then I receive "We could not complete your Music Store request. An unknown error occurred (-208).
This has happened every time since I have swapped my shell. Each time I have been online (I even downloaded new music one time from iTunes) and have tried from multiple locations - office, wireless, home. I cannot listen to any iTunes purchased music. Any ideas other than going to Best Buy for CDs??? Thanks!

If you are running a version of iTunes older than iTunes 6.0.4, the first thing to do is update to 6.0.4. Choose About iTunes from the Help menu in iTunes. If you are already at 6.0.4, or if updating does not help, the next thing to try is to deauthorize your computer for the iTMS account using the Deauthorize Computer option in the Help menu. Then play of the iTMS songs and re-enter your authorization info.

  • ITunes has exclamation marks next to all my songs. Unable to listen to my songs. What do I do?

I have a had my iPhone 4s for almost two years and ive never really had any problmes with it til now. Just randomly the other day i was listening to my music and all of sudden after one song finished, it skipped like 50+ songs and went to the first song in my playlist. I llooked at it and the songs that were skipped all had a faded stop button next to them. What do I do? All the sings that I am unable to listen to was music i transferred from my HTC Evo onto iTunes when i first got my 4S. The songs i am still able to listen to on my phone were songs purchased from the itunes store. I had over 700 songs and now i am only limited to 70 songs. Please help.

You should sync it again and this time you'll get 0 song. Yes, that's what will happen. Its quite amazing a company that famous for making music device like IPOD could mess up this bad. Not sure if its cause by IOS 7 or ITunes 11. Probably both

  • I have several cd imports which have so much noise on them that I'm unable to listen to them. Any ideas? I've spoken with Apple care who stated optical drive was at fault; this has been replaced and I've re imported them but same outcome. Michael

Hi, I have several of my cd imports to itunes, unable to listen to for lots of background noise. Applecare  told me the optical drive was at fault; a new one replaced old one (less than  a year old) still same problem after re-imprting relevant cds. Also ticked error box in itunes preferences.
Would the cds in question have some sort of 'block' on import. All the releevnt cds play on my various cd gadgets.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
    Michael

Does the noise occur with all imports or just some.
Do the CDs play noise free in the optical drive or just as imported.
Have you tried unchecking error correction. I virtually never use that setting.
AAC 128 - Unless disk space is at an absolute minimum, I would import at 256 AAC and a sample rate of 44.100 kHz

iTunes is quite friendly, and very powerful....   You probably just need to set up automatic syncing in iTunes.
If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  The iPod appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  Select the iPod there.
To the right, the iPod's Summary screen is shown.  Toward the top, there is a bar of buttons, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This Music screen is where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music.  This setting enables automatic syncing for music.  If your iTunes music library is small enough to fit on the iPod's storage, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Select playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  From the lists below, select (checkmark) what you want to sync to the iPod.
Here's one convenient way to set this up.  In your iTunes library, create one or more playlists.  Add the ALL the songs you want on the iPod to those playlists.  OR, you can use existing playlists.  Back on the iPod's Music screen, select those playlists under Playlists.  (You can select other items on those lists, if desired.)
When you click Apply, the songs in your selection sync to the iPod.  Going forward, to update your iPod (add/remove songs), just update those playlists in your iTunes library.  The iPod does not need to be connected.  The next time you connect the iPod (or click Sync if already connected), iTunes automatically updates the iPod with the same changes.
NOTE:  On the bar of buttons that starts with Summary, click on the other buttons (such as Movies, Podcasts, Audiobooks, etc.) to set up syncing for those iTunes media categories.

  • Unable to listen to music while iPod is connected to computer

Whenever I connect the iPod(5th Gen) to my computer it shows Do Not Disconnect message and am unable to listen to music. Also, if music is playing previously, it stops automatically. Can anyone help? Just been two days since I bought my iPod

Try this for your Do Not Disconnect issue:
Connect your iPod and in iTunes go to Preferences>iPod. Under the Music tab see if you have your iPod set to automatically sync with iTunes and also have a tick in the box marked “enable disk use". Remove this tick and your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished updating.
If you have your iPod set to manual update, the box will be greyed out and ticked by default, in that case use Safely remove Hardware icon or check this link: "Disconnecting iPod from your computer
    " http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61135
Just another point to note, your iPod needs to be in manual mode to listen to it while connected to your PC. In automatic mode you will see the iPod library greyed out and inaccessible.

  • Unable to listen to one of my songs on iphone 5

I just downloaded a new song on my Mac from iTunes. It appears on my iPhone 5 but in a light grey color, much lighter than the other songs, and I'm unable to listen to it on my phone even though I can listen to it on my Mac and I was able to synch it with my iPod shuffle.

Could you please type out the exact steps you are taking, and what happens when you try. Any error messages? Using Mac or Windows? Updated iTunes?

  • I have formatted my IPOD shuffle, now im unable to listen to songs

    Hi,
i have mistakenly formatted IPOD and now im unable to listen songs even if i have re-installed ITUNES on my windows PC.
    please help me guys.

By formatted do you mean a low level filesystem reformat of the Shuffle's flash storage using the reformat option available in Windows (and NOT iTunes)?
Does the iPod still appear in iTunes when you connect it? If so, are you sure have content synced to it?

  • "You're Listening to iTunes Radio" error

After changing the password for my Apple ID on my iMac, I am unable to sign in to iTunes Radio from any of my devices (iPhone 5S, iPad 4th gen, or Apple TV 3rd gen).  While surprised the devices didn't just learn my new password, I assumed it's perhaps a security matter so have been attempting to sign in with my new or old password.  Most everything else appears to work.  But when I attempt to listen to iTunes Radio, all I get is a male voice repeating over and over continuously "You're listening to iTunes Radio."  On-screen the display just cycles through album covers.  I was able to listen to my own music streamed from iMatch on my iPhone, but not my iPad, and neither plays iTunes Radio--just that "You're listening to iTunes Radio" repeated over and over.  I have tried power cycling the iPhone, turning iTunes Match off then on, entering my iCloud ID in lieu of my normal non-Apple domain Apple ID, all to no avail.
I had no idea updating my Apple ID's password would be so problematic.  Can anyone help me or has iTunes Radio simply gone crazy?

Same issue since changing Apple ID password. Apple TV won't allow me to play my music of video purchases (says iTunes is currently unavailable). I'm able to play them on my mac and iPad, however. Radio on the other hand is completely crazy on all my devices - when choosing a station it immediately skips through several songs at a rapid pace then gets stuck on the "you're listening to iTunes radio" glitch as described above.
I've done a reset and factory restore of my Apple TV, signed in and out of my Apple ID, reset my router, NOTHING has worked. Apple support was no help.
I'm sorry I have nothing to contribute right now - I'll keep searching and share here if I find a solution.
Why is chaning my password causing such chaos?!

  • IPad App Store unable to connect to iTunes

I have tried several times to update my apps on my iPad but it keeps telling me it is unable to connect to iTunes store. I have tried signing into my account in the general settings iTunes & App Store settings and it says the same message, unable to connect to itunes. My iPhone connects just fine, and it is the same account. Anyone else having this problem??

Same problem, except it isn't working on my iPhone either. Started about 20 minutes ago.

  • Yesterday I  reset my settings on my  iphone 4 to correct another problem. Today I am unable to connect to itunes to sync my phone. The device does not show up on the screen. What can I do?

Yesterday I reset my settings on my iphone 4 to correct a problem. Today I am unable to connect to itunes to sync my phone. The device does not show up on the screen. What can I do?

Best practices says plug the USB cable into the computer, then plug the 30 pin connector into the iPhone.
If everything is working correctly, you should be able to plug the iPhone in at any time. Before or after opening iTunes.
Depending on what settings are selected in iTunes, the program may or may not automatically open when you connect the device.

  • Unable to Connect to iTunes Store for Apple TV Purchases

For the past 2 days I have been unable to make purchases from the iTunes store with Apple TV. I get the message "Unable to connect to iTunes Store. Temporarily unavailable. Try again later."  Despite this message, I have a valid internet connection and I can still connect to the iTunes store to preview movies and TV shows content with my Apple TV. I just cannot make any purchases. My Apple TV software is currently up to date and I have valid credit in my iTunes account.
Apple support have suggested that I contact their support community to see if anyone can help me resolve this problem.

Also having issue, it is ridiculous. Kinda defeats the purpose of having TV if you can't stream any content from iTunes since the change to no hard drive. Come on Apple, I think your better than this.
I have read on a couple forums that they suspect Family Share as the issue, does everyone have Family Share on? I for one do.

  • Can you listen to iTunes on two computers at the same time?

If I've got iTunes playing on one computer, is it possible to listen on another computer on the same network what's playing on the first computer? I've often got two computers on the go over two floors and it would be smart if they were playing the same music at the same time. Thanks for your help.

Hi Andy, if you want to listen through remote speakers connected to an AirPort Express you can choose the remote speakers (or computer) from the pop-up menu at the bottom of the iTunes window
However, to the best of my knowledge you can only listen to iTunes through one set of speakers at a time.
