Unable to listen to music (sometimes)

I have a laptop with a wlan connection and all my mp3 music on a network drive. i have imported some of my cd's from my network drive to my itunes. When I take my laptop on the go, I can't access those songs. And when I get back and resync my Ipod i get the message stating that it could not find those songs and I have to go back every single time and show it were it is. It's not on all the songs, just a couple. I have other songs on Itunes from the same drive and don't have that problem

Try this for your Do Not Disconnect issue:
Connect your iPod and in iTunes go to Preferences>iPod. Under the Music tab see if you have your iPod set to automatically sync with iTunes and also have a tick in the box marked “enable disk use". Remove this tick and your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished updating.
If you have your iPod set to manual update, the box will be greyed out and ticked by default, in that case use Safely remove Hardware icon or check this link: "Disconnecting iPod from your computer
" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61135
Just another point to note, your iPod needs to be in manual mode to listen to it while connected to your PC. In automatic mode you will see the iPod library greyed out and inaccessible.

  • Screen says "Unable to listen to music; low battery" & won't charge?

My niece just called me with a problem I could not find a solution to doing a search.
She said she was listening to a song when her Nano stopped playing. When she looked at the screen, it said "You Can't play music, your battery is dead". It appeared for about a minute, then disappeared.
She plugged it in via the A/C wall adaptor, but the charging icon is not showing on the screen.
I told her to attempt a restart, but nothing happened. I asked if she attempted to charge it using the computer. That had also been tried before contacting me, and no icons appeared then either. Initially, my thinking was that it would need to be connected to the charger for a while before it had enough energy to show anything, but she said that it's been connected to the wall charger for over 3 hours now and that's why she decided to call me. Unfortunatley, we live a few thousand miles apart, so I can't run over and see it. And yes - I did have her check the hold button & that's not on either (see; I read these boards & do searches when I have questions! LOL)
Any ideas are greatly appreciated, as I'm at a complete loss. I have never heard of an iPod, Nano or regular, displaying such an interested message (I asked over 3 different times, and each time she repeated the same thing - unable/can't listen to music, low battery - then died).
Hopefully, someone can answer so I can regain my iPod Goddess status in her eyes =) I was floored when I did a discussion search and couldn't find the answer!

    Hi Menhem,
It is unfortunate that the automatic calibration didn't complete.  I would recommend going ahead and trying the Manual Calibration steps at the end of the document Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 7), then go back to using the notebook as you normally would and see if the behaviour of the battery and charging system changes at all, you could also run the battery test again to see if you get a different result.  If it improves great, but if there are still problems, try the automatic calibration one more time to see if it will complete.
Another thing to do is to make sure you are up to date with your BIOS, the latest BIOS for your model is F.52, which you can find at the link below, but it is relatively old at this point, so I would thing that you probably already have it on your PC.  In general I would recommend running the HP Support Assistant application, and letting it check your PC and keep it up to date with all the necessary drivers.
How long have you had the notebook?  Batteries do degrade over time with normal usage, and if you have had the notebook for awhile, and have put the battery through many charging cycles, it may just be time for a new battery.  Check out Purchasing a Replacement Battery for instructions on finding a replacement battery.  Some other documents to review are Improving Battery Performance (Windows 8, 7, Vista) and Understanding Lithium-Ion and Smart Battery Technology, both of which may have some good information to help you with your issue.

Well ****. I guess it's my turn to experience this. Yep. 120GB iPod Classic. All of a sudden, "no music." But it's all there, according to the settings. Please, oh please, Apple. We need help. I can't deal with losing all this precious music. I have a lot of it backed up in various places, but it would be impossible to get it ALL back, and it would be an incredible long and challenging process to retrieve what is retrievable.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
Note the delete is only for later iOS versions.

While playing my music, IPOD, on my iphone 4, sound is not coming through speakers on phone. The volume control is not even shown, unless airport express is selected.
If I am in my car, and the blue tooth, hands free device is on, the music will play though the hands-free device.
I have upgraded to version 4.3, but a friend who also upgraded is not having the same issue.

  • My ringer does not work on my phone (not sure what happened, didn't smash it, nor did it fall to the ground), and I have been on silent/vibrate mode for a few months now. Unfortunately I am unable to listen to music without headphones, or get on speaker.

I can hear sounds when I plug in to headphones or on bluetooth (streaming audio from my car).
    Can anyone help?
    I have the iphone 4s.
    Thank you!

    Hey Chris,
Unfortunately the ringer does not work - which causes the speaker to not work when it's switched on to ring mode, unless I'm on bluetooth. It has recently stopped working and I've had this phone for 2 years.

  • I recently used Bluetooth speaker with my iPhone 4S  Now I  am unable to listen to music through headphones Iphone speakers, even when device is no longer recognised by phone.

    Please advise

    Hey Jennymagee,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with your iPhone 4s. The following resource may provide a solution:
iPhone: No sound or distorted sound from speaker
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5180
    1. Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
    2. Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
    3. If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
    4. Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
    5. If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
    6. If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
              - Try turning off Bluetooth.
              - If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    7. Restart the iPhone.
    8. If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
    9. If the issue is not resolved after restoring the iPhone software, please contact Apple Support.
If the issue persists, please follow the last step by contacting Apple Support for support and service options.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Iphone 5s overheats when listening to music

my iphon 5s overheats when listening to music sometimes after only 2 or 3 songs.
i took it into the apple store they gave me a new phone after seeing there was 5 overheating notifications.
now it happened again on my new phone. i heard something about disabeling syncing between icloud and safari. will this work?

    Welcome to the discussions,
did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes up again? If still no change, a restore "as new iphone" would be the next step. In that case don't use your backup to get your data back, it may contain damaged files causing your problem.

  • Listening to music with my earphone ...

    Hi,
If my wireless bluetooth earphone (Plantronics 510) is connected to my iPhone, when not speaking on the phone, why am I unable to listen to music from the iPod application with my earphone ?
    Regards.

    Hi Rudegard,
I should have thought of Wikepedia. The A2DP protocol seems to be required to streaming sound and video from the device to the headset. The AVRCP protocol seems to be used to manage the shuffling of the music and video (play, pause, stop, next play, etc ...).
I am looking for the bests wireless headset I can use with my iPhone, iPad and iPod. I has to allow me to listen to music or talk over the phone. Since some headset are not described as compatible with Apple products, I wanted to know what to look for.
    Regards.

Did you already reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
If this does not help, try to set it up as new device, explained here:
How to back up your data and set up as a new device

  • Sometimes when listening to music or a podcast, it will stop and start in rapid fire.  I have a 4th gen iPod Touch.

Sometimes when listening to music or a podcast, it will stop and start in rapid fire.  I have a 4th gen iPod Touch.  A Genius suggested something went wrong during the transfer from my MBP to my iPod, but I tried resyncing it, and it seems to happen haphazardly.  Even if a podcast plays oddly one time, it might play perfect the next - so it can't have been the sync that went bad.

    - First try a reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next restore from backup
    - The restore to factory defaults/new iPod
