Infact those members exist in the Outline.
Any help would be appreciated.

Check for the double quotes (the one John mentioned). Also I can see that you are taking the approach of Data Load dimension. Is Data load dimension and driver members defined correctly in Planning?

Unable to SAVE data through a data form in Hyperion Planning

Hi,
I recently migrated an application from development to QA using the LCM tool and refreshed the outline into Essbase using Planning Web. Once completed, i loaded the level0 data and aggregated it.
I opened a data form and tried to SAVE data and i get an error stating: "There was an error during the save process".
I tried saving the data using another form and i was successful at it. I re-migrated the data-form i was having an issue with and tried again. Thist time I get an error "Communication error with server. Callback failed for data entry page". This error shows up now on every form and every application.
Any suggestion on how to fix this?

I don't know if that patch will help you or not. It addresses a specific issue related to text data types. Your issue sounds similar, in that it appears to be triggered via the existence of specific data. The issue we were describing above presents itself when opening the form, and not when saving the form. I'm just guessing here, but it sounds as though there is some type of mismatch between the data types that Planning is expecting to display and save on the form, and the format of the existing data in Essbase.
You said that you can't save the form once the data is loaded into a particular version. Here's what I'd do to narrow the issue down:
1) Copy the data into your version so that the form will NOT save. (ensuring that the issue is present)
2) Start selectively deleting data from the version. Write a quick calc script that clears certain data, account, by account.
3) After each selective delete, make a note of the account you cleared. You'll only need to clear accounts that are present on the form.
4) After each selective delete, refresh the form, and then try to save.
At some point, I expect the save will be successful. You'll then know what data was causing the issue. I'm guessing that this data (probably a specific account) will have a data type that doesn't match up with the data in Essbase. It could be defined as a Smart List that wasn't migrated. Or a text value that doesn't exist in the app repository. Something like that.

Copying of Data through HFM Copy utility fails wit unspecified error

We are receiving some strange error . Please help if you have any input to this.
The error message shows :
Error : Failed to copy all available data from table XYZ_DCE_1_2008 to table ABC_DCE_1_2008. This may be a driver or DBMS error. Please review driver and DB logs!
Error : Processing aborted for table XYZ_DCE_1_2008. Reason: Unspecified error
I need help to understand , what should be the root cause of this error ? What should be the fix for the same?

What version of HFM are you on? If you are on 11.1.1.3 and using a 64 bit HFMCopyUtlity, then there is a known bug/issue with that. It fails and you would get the DB errors. We also faced a similar issue and Oracle support recommended to use a 32 bit HFM CopyUtility from a 32 bit server.

Loading Data Using Outline Load Utility - Error

Trying to load some data using Outline Load Utility. I followed the Oracle documentation on this and Under the Administration -> Manage Data Load area I defined Accounts as data load dimension, and period as driver dimension. I then added Jan - Feb as driver members. I wanted to load data for Jan. My data header looks like this:

The command i typed is this:

This is version 11.1.2. What am I doing wrong here? I also find it interesting that the command for data load and metadata load is the same as per oracle docs. I guess Planning knows if we're trying to load data or metadata based on the CSV file header?

I don't usually bother with loading data using the outline load utility but as a test on 11.1.2 using the planning sample application I gave it a quick go.
In planning, went to Administration > Data Load Settings > Picked Account as the data load dimension, Period as the driver dimension and selected Jan as a member
I created a file :-

TestMember,100,"Local,E05,Actual,NoSegment,Working,FY11",Consol
And used the following command line from the directory with the planning utilities

Need Help..!! Loading Data Using Outline Load Utility - No Data

I've tried to load data using Outline Load Utility but the data is not loaded into my Essbase.
Here are the step what I've done :
1. In planning, Administration > Data Load Settings
- Entity as the data load dimension,
- Account as the driver dimension and selected Rental, test_desc as the member
2. The .csv file
Entity, Rental, test_desc, Point-of-View,Data Load Cube Name
TLT, 100, 100, "FY11,Plan,Working,No Product,No Condition Type,No Vehicle Type,No Term Period,No Term,No Movement, Local, Apr", Retail
3. Run the Outline Load through cmd

From the OutlineLogs (Planning Outline load process finished (with no data load as specified (/N)). 1 data record was read, 1 data record was processed, 1 was accepted, 0 were rejected.), it doesn't mean the data successfully loaded, isn't it...??

Unable to load sample planning data through EAS

I am using planning 9.3.1 version. I installed Planning ,EAS, previously I loaded the sample data a lot of times , right now I installed Provider services now I am getting error in loading the data through EAS when I am loading the data I am unable to select the error file but I can select the load file . Even when I am hitting the online help it is not opening too.Previously before installing APS I am able to load. Does any one face this issue.....

Error in using Outline Load Utility

i am trying to export the members (metadata) of one of my dimension into csv file by using the outlineload utility of hyperion planning. The version of hyperion is 11.1.2.2
instead of creating a csv file the outline load utility throws me following exception:
"Unable to obtain dimension information and/or perform a data load: Registry: Planning product not found."
I also check the log and exception file created by the Outline Load utility which contains the following information;

this command was working fine till yesterday. for the sake of testing i try to export the metadata of another application deployed on the same sever and got the same error for that; so it shows that some thing went wrong with the whole server instead of individual application

Some additional information.
When you see this error message "Planning Product not found". Please check the logs in
C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\services, check in HyS9EPMServer-sysout.
You should be able to see the error message as " Received exception while creating connection for pool "EPMSystemRegistry": ORA-28001 the password has expired".
This is an easy way of identifying the case.

Create, Load, & Assign Attribute using Notepad + Outline Load Utility

Hi all, I have a requirement that I need to create a new attribute and then assign to many different members. Since there are so many members, I believe the best way to do this is to process this dynamically in notepad or wordpad through Outline Load Utility.
This is the normal way how I would do it manually in Planning:
1. Let's say this is my outline in Planning. "1000-X" is the base member where I will be assigning the new attribute to. And many more siblings to "1000-X" will be assigned with the same attribute:

2. So I changed the data type of "1000-X" to Stored. I highlighted "Entities". I created the new attribute named "Company".

3. I have selected base member "1000-X" -> Edit -> then assign the new attribute to "Company". So that's done for a single member. However, keep in mind, I still have many more members to assign the new attribute to. I want to do this much quicker through dynamic way so I'm not sure if I have to go through this process. Maybe this could be alternated by creating it in notepad/wordpad?

Now, my question is, if I want to just type up everything in notepad/wordpad for assigning the new attribute "Company" to a massive amount of members. How would that structure look?

I think Outline Load Utility needs .CSV files as the source files. See below format that loads fine.

Note: Attribute assignments must be of the same level in the base dimensions. It may let you assign but will get error during the refresh.

Importing outline using the load utility

Hi all,
I have extracted my outline using the EPMA file generator and the file is a csv file. I'm trying to load it using the load utility and I'm getting this error
"Unable to obtain dimension information and or perform a data load: Unrecognized column header values"
First row in the excell sheet: !Hierarchies=Account
Second Row: Parent, Child, Data storage......
Do I need to change this header...?

Which utility are you trying to load it with? If it is EPMA then you should look at using the EPMA batch client - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/epma_batch_user/launch.html

Unable to load data with impdp

Hi friends,
I've encountered with follwing errors while loading data through impdp utility.
ORA-31626: job does not exist
ORA-31633: unable to create master table "TRACE.SYS_IMPORT_FULL_05"
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_SYS_ERROR", line 95
ORA-06512: at "SYS.KUPV$FT", line 863
ORA-00955: insufficient privileges
I think problem is with last line ORA-00955: insufficient privileges what are you opinion kindly tell me what necessary priviliges user should have to import/export dump file.

Is this dumpfile consists of onlyTRACE schema objects or other schema objects?
no need to grant dba priviliges to trace, you can import using sys/system user.

Outline Load Utility error using Hyperion Planning 11.1.2

I am using Outline Load Utility to extract outline from Hyperion Planningin .csv format.
We have three planning cubes and I am trying to extract a dimension that is only a standard dimension in the third cube. However, I get this error message:
Error: Unable to obtain dimension information and/or perform a data load: com.hyperion.planning.sql.HspMember cannot be cast to com.hyperion.planning.sql.HspTimePeriod
When I check Shared Services, the dimension is not part of standard dimensions in Global Artifacts for the app. I can see it under the specific Plan Type as a standard dimension.
When I try to extract any of the dimensions under the Global Artifacts, the command is successful. Here is the syntax I type for outline load command:
OutlineLoad /A:HFPlan2 /U:admin /-M /E:c:/position_export.csv /D:Position /L:c:/outlineLoad.log /X:c:/outlineLoad.exc
Please advise if I need to add something else to the command or totally use any other tool.

Log an SR with Oracle, because that is a varchar field with I think 2000 char limit.
Is that happening for just that application (do you have other apps, or can you create a sample application)

Actually I am working on workforce planning and need to load data one of workforce planning dimension called employee and it has child called total employees and total employees has one child called existing employees and also total employees has another child called New employees.
Please help me I will be thankful to you since they gave me dead line by tomorrow to finish if not then I will be fired from my this project. I reading manuals and doing my tasks since it is really urgent so i need quick guideline and help needed..

This error is talking about Dimensions which I am not getting any sense like In my application there is Dimension called Employee and it has two child one is Total Employees and New Employees and under the Total Employees there is one child which is existing employees.

Unable to load data / NullReferenceException only on certain tables when deployed

I have a LightSwitch app that works fine when being debugged locally. But it has a strange issue when deployed as a Cloud Service to Azure. I have two Silverlight grid controls on the page which display a red x and give the error, "Unable to load data.
Please check your network connection and try loading again."
Several other queries are running on this page and correctly pull data from other tables in the database. The queries that run correctly are tied to label or text box controls.
The queries that fail, return an HTTP Status code 500 (Internal error). If I try and pass the query to a constructor as an IVisualCollection,
and I wrap the call in a Try block,
the Inner Exception is "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." So, a Null Reference Exception. Checking for null before the constructor call and popping up a message box if the query was null as a means of debugging yielded nothing. I
create these helpers all over. Only two are causing an issue and only when deployed. In addition, running the query in the Management Portal also completes fine.

The actual construction of the queries does not seem to matter. I've tried several variations along with requesting the entire table. Same result. However, this only occurs on two specific tables. Grid controls displaying other tables on other screens work
properly.
Here's the weird part. If I comment out the call to the constructor, I can gain access to the gird control and add data to it even through the red box remains. If I refresh the grid control, the data disappears as if it wasn't saved or isn't there. But inspecting
the table in SQL Azure Management Portal shows that the data was properly populated in the table.
The app and the database are clearly connected and able to communicate fine. So why when reading from these two tables (but not writing to) are my grid controls throwing exceptions? Why does this only happen when deployed? What other techniques can I use to
get more information?

I am not very familiar with Lightswtich. But 500 is a server side error. Do you manually code the server side, or does Lightswitch automatically generates the server side code? If you manually coded, then please try to catch exceptions in
your server side code. If the code is automatically generated, you may want to consult a Lightswitch forum on how to troubleshooting such issues. What's more, when you refresh the grid, what code are invoked? Try to check that piece of code and see if there're
any problems, such as you reload the grid with empty data.

ITunes was unable to load data class information from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later.

Ever since I upgraded to iTunes 10.4 I've been getting this dreaded message on many occasions when I try to sync my iPhone 4 or iPad 2 with my Win 7 64 bit machine. "iTunes was unable to load data class information from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later." What happens is that local content (music, videos etc) will sync properly to my iPhone, but other content (such as Outlook information, MobileMe stuff, etc) will not.
I have uninstalled and completely purged all Apple data from my PC (including hidden files and folders under Common Files and in the Registry) and reinstalled iTunes. Yet after one or two syncs, the same problem resurfaces. The other weird part is that the Sync Services crap-out message will happen after I do a successful sync, leave the iPhone connected to the PC, and don't even touch the computer for several hours.
I've actually developed a very tedious work around that seems to restore syncing if for a short time.
- Undock/unconnect all Apple devices from the PC.
- Close iTunes, MobileMe control panel, and Safari (if you have it).
- Start Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Del) and shut down iTunesHelper.exe and SyncServer.exe
- Open up a Windows Explorer window (like My Computer) and under Tools, Folder Options, View, toggle on Show Hidden Files and toggle off Hide Protected Operating System FIles
- In WIndows Explorer, navigate to "C:\Users\<your name>\App Data\Roaming\Apple Computer". Rename the folder Sync Services to something else, like Sync Services_Old.
- In WIndows Explorere, navigate to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support" and double-click on AppleSyncNotifier.exe.
- Go back to your Folder Options and turn off SHow Hidden Files and toggle on Hide Protected Operationg System Files
Now you can start up iTunes again and connect your device. It should sync properly again (at least, until it doesn't once more).
Does anyone at Apple have any idea about this error or a solution?

It's important that you go through the steps EXACTLY as described here and in the proper order. Also make sure MobileMe control panel is uninstalled (if you have it).
Interestingly, when I went through this procedure and then reinstalled iTunes 10.4 64-bit (didn't do MobileMe or Safari at this stage, but QT is automatically installed) everything worked perfectly. The aforementioned error messages disappeared and all is working flawlessly, as it should.

when I open itunes I get message " itunes was unable to load data class information from sync services. reconnect or try again later "
I am unable to sync my ipad 2 or iphone 4 through itunes. I have tried all suggested options, removing itunes and related components from control panel + verified completely uninstalled from C program files + then reinstalling latest version of itunes (version 11.3.1.2). Also tried running itunes as administrator. Also tried reset sync history in itunes Also tried system restore on windows 7 from earlier period.Still get the same above message.
I run 64bit windows 7. Have recently renewed my Norton Intenet Security. Everything was OK up till then. Could this have anything to do with it.

A quick cursory browse seems to point that the problem is on Apples end since the last update of iTunes, theres loads of forum posts about it but Apple themselves arent responding as yet other then the usual "unplug, delete sync data, reconnect or completely uninstall iTunes" spiel which doesnt work so hopefully they will fix it sooner or later
