Unable to load home movies

I have a Sony Digital Handycam. I have a new Pavilion g7-1150 Notebook, with Widows 7. What do I have to open in order to load home movies onto the computer. I tried hooking up with a firewire,with no recognition from the computer.

I think I've answered my own question! I'm using a Nano and I'm betting it won't run videos, right? Meanwhile my wife's iPod 5G has updated successfully.

A program installs QT 2.12 on Vista, but fails with the message
Quicktime of Windows has stopped working.
If I install QT7, the .MOV files can be played individually, but the program states:
Unable to load external movie driver for Intro1st.mov.
Possibly the driver is missing or there is no enough memory.
There is a Gb of free memory for Vista. The software is from 1999.
What can I do to enable this to work either with
(a) QT7; or
(b) QT2.12 with QT7 installed too; or
(c) QT2.12 without QT7 installed.
I am willing to give a USD $50 voucher to Amazon for the first respondent with a solution to option (a), $30 for option (b) and $10 for option (c). Only one gift in total is available. I will give people time to arrive at the best solution, namely option (a), before deciding on receives the gift.

You can't install QuickTime version 2 on your machine. I can't install the same >Mac version on my OS.
Are your files found on a CD?
QT2.12 is provided on the CD in the form of a setup executable file.
Is the software running from a CD?
I have copied all files to the notebook for ease-of-use, but usually it would run from the CD.
After posting my message, I checked with my desktop (running XP SP2), and observed that I got the main software runnning with QT5 installed. Tried this on Vista, but the same error message occurs as for QT7.
Does that CD try to do the QuickTime version 2 install?
It tries to do it itself with the setup program for the application.
Also, I have tried to do it myself.
You could probably navigate through the CD to find the QuickTime files on it and >open them directly or drag them to your desktop to duplicate them.
I will try copying them from another computer, but wouldn't it be necessary to set up the registry or something to let Vista know of its existence?

I had gotten a similar problem, except with "provider services", i believe, but i solved it by copying sqlite3.dll from E:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support to E:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support. doing that solved my first problem, but now i have been getting the error described in this topic (unable to load dataclass info... etc.). i tried reinstalling itunes (i already had 9.1.1, and thats what i reinstalled) by using the method described on apples site (using the "remove programs" tool in the control panel) and then downloading and installing itunes. when i opened it again, i still got the same error, and just now i got an error saying "the instruction at "0x00aadb6b" referenced memory at "0x00000008". the memory could not be read" it gave me the option to cancel and debug, or to press ok and terminate the program. I tried pressing cancel, and the popup went away but nothing else happened. a minute later the popup was back, so i pressed ok and itunes quit. Upon opening Itunes again, i got the very same error. sorry for the long post, but its really been bugging me. thanks for any help you might give, and if you need anymore info, feel free to contact me.

Unable to load movie playlist?

I'm really starting to regret Upgrading to Director 11. I
didn't have any of these issues going from MX to MX 2004. All I'm
trying to do is make a simple projector work on a Mac and it's one
issue after another. Not to mention all this after updating a whole
boat load of Xtras 11 requires.
The new one is this;
Unable to load movie playlist. Does the INI file exsist? It
must contain a section '(Movies)' with an entry
'Movies01=pathname.dir'.
I've already read a couple of other forum post with the same
error message going on with others but can't find certain files
required to make the fix like the 'Projec32.skl',
and I don't know how to read, let alone make an .INI file.
I'll mention I got this error after updating to Shockwave 11
EVEN though I was not publishing a Shockwave movie.
I know I just need to include a certain file on my CD when I
burn one because all works great on the desk top, but I'm throwing
darts trying to figure out what the CD burn is missing.
So to make a long story short does anyone know what I might
be missing?
I'm new to making director movies for the Mac, and even using
a Mac so I might need it spelled out a little more for being a
novice.

This is a very frustrating problem. I have run into it as well, but can't tell you exactly how I solved it, its been a while since I've seen it. It does have something to do with the length of the path to your projector when its published. I would suggest moving your movie as close as possible to the root of the drive, you may even want to restart to ensure all the internal variables have been reset and then republish the movie.
If you publish the movie from your authoring location and then copy the projector to a cd or the desktop the path length seems to be built into the projector at publishing. So that does not solve the problem. It is fairly easy to get a long path name - c:/mylocaldrive/documents and settings/yourusername/yourprojectsfolder/yourprojectname.dir has a path name length of 100 characters! I realize you are on a mac, but the same rules apply.
I also might be mistaken with the maximum path length. Perhaps its 128 characters?
Has anyone else run into this error?

My home movies take forever to load when using apple tv..help

Ive got a new iMac, apple tv and airport extreme. Regular movies stream just fine. I moved a home movie into the movies folder of itunes and when I try to play it on apple tv it takes extremely long to even load. I just switched the network the 5ghz but that doesn't help. Can anyone help?

Likely to be slow LAN connection - if possible try a direct ethernet connection to router to see if it makes a difference.
Have you tried with the old router?
As digital copies will usually be less than 5Mbps and standard def you don't need blistering LAN rates, but if slower than this they will need to prebuffer.
If not a connectivity issue (describe how all equipment is connected in the LAN and wi-fi type if any), then consider itunes library corruption (create a new library with a few things in to test) and also security software that may see repeated access from AppleTV as a threat and be slowing/blocking it (eg NetBarrier).

I just watched one movie, then I started another rental. It keeps saying unable to load content at this time and to try again later.

Unable to copy DVD with home movies

I am able to play a DVD that has home movies on it on my Imac and MacBook Pro. I am not able to import into IMovie to try some editing and I cannot copy or burn another disk to share. The copy company stated there was no copy protection on the disk. I made a folder on my Desktop and dragged the icon of the disk to the folder and files appeared in the folder but they appeared as black screen with the file name under them. I can use any assistance or advice.

Use MPEG Streamclip and Apple's MPEG-2 playback component to convert the VOB files on it to DV.
I cannot copy or burn another disk to share
Use the Disk Utility in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder to image it as a DVD/CD master and then burn the image.
Neither method will work on copy protected DVDs.

Open Directory: "Unable to load replica list"

I'm currently running Mavericks Server 3.1 on my Mac Mini at the home network. I had some issues with the client logins and went for local accounts on the clients instead. Today I finally wanted to fix the problem and go all Open Directory. But the Open Directory service was shut off when I opened the server software. I tried to turn it on but got a message saying "Unable to load replica list". I updated the software to the latest 3.1 but are still having the same issue. I never had any replica list, I only had a standard one from the start, but it seems I can't do anyhing there now.

"open project was cancelled or the application was unable to load database for..."

I'm doing a project for my Professional Writing course and I
have to use RoboHelp to create an online help document. The
professor provided templates for us to use but when I go to open
the project file I get the following error: "open project was
cancelled or the application was unable to load database
for....(then the directory)"
I know the project file isn't corrupted because the members
of my class are using the same one without issue. I tried
re-downloading the file, I also re-installed the program itself,
still with no luck. I'm using a Trial Version of RoboHelp 6.0 .
The only other suggestions I have seen are that I don't have
edit perms for the system, but it's my personal laptop and I have
full admin privs. I thought at first that the folder was read-only,
but when I opened it up all it displays is the little green box in
the checkbox (which doesn't mean the folder is read-only, it's just
some stupid windows default, it's only read-only if the box is
actually checked). I tried making the entire directory read-only
and then turn it off but still get the same error.
Any suggestions?

There's a topic on my site about Opening Projects that
includes the method of deleting the CPD and XPJ files but I didn't
cover that as the project is good for everyone else. Anything is
worth a try at the moment though.
Another thing to try is to rename the course folder, then
create a new folder with the same name plus all sub folders. Then
move the files across. That will ensure the folder properties are
good and not read only. Yes I know what you said but again anything
is worth a try.
Also, in the last post you are saying the directory is not
read-only. I assume the files are all good?
Ref my previous post, is it the case that now you are getting
an error before the original error would have popped up?

Itunes 12 can't import shared home movie to iTunes library

HI. I am trying to import, or add to my desktop iTunes library, a shared home movie. I have file sharing turned on with both my laptop and desktop. I can see, from my desktop, the shared home movies, and I can even play them, but I cannot find an option to import them into the desktop library. I use my desktop to sync my iPad and ultimately I want to add the movies to my iPad. How do I import a shared home movie from my laptop to desktop, not just see it and play it from sharing?

Join the crowd. If you search this and other forums on the web, you'll find that Home Sharing has limited functionality on PC and Mixed PC-Mac networks. It works fine, Mac to Mac, it appears, but PC's seem unable to talk to Macs or one another on many, many, many people's home shared networks. I hope that Apple finds a way to improve this aspect of iTunes or at least expands its troubleshooting recommendations in the support database.

[SOLVED] Unable to load Gnome Shell 3.0

Hi all,
Did a search and didnt find anything on this. I really like gnome3 while testing it on an ubuntu machine and I think with time it would be great. So I said to myself I wonder how great it would be with a nice clean arch install.
I created a fresh install and followed the directions here.....

I keep getting package not found errors in pacman though.

pacman -Syu testing/gnome gives me a package not found error.
I thought ok maybe my mirriorlist is too old so I updated my mirrors to the latest....no dice. testing/gnome not found
So I said ok maybe I can just upgrade. I went through the normal gnome 2 install procedure and have a working gnome wm environment. So as instructed above I tried to do the upgrade.
pacman -S gnome-shell.....no dice. gnome-shell not found.
pacman -Syu always shows testing repo update first so I know thats correct.
The same thing happened to me when kde 4.6 came out. I was unable to load it from the repository. 4.5 kept loading no matter what I did.
This is only my second question on these forums and I have been using arch for 2 years so be gentle ;-) I always try to rtfm first. Then forum search.
I would just try it out in suse but suse is just sooo fat. Folks in the forums there tend to slam a guy for asking an honest question quite a lot too. ( not me but while trying to load broadcom-wl I had to do several searches and wow....) Plus I hate thier package mangement.

Ah ok thanks for the response. I am using 64bit (sry for not mentioning that) Ill try to enable multilib-testing when I get home.
For repos I have all US repos uncommented as I use powerpill. I only comment out a few that always give connectivity errors.
Testing is uncommented above core and extra.

Importing Video From Home Movie DVD

I have home movies burnt onto a DVD from the original VHS Tapes, and want to edit the the using IMovieHD 6, but when attempting to import, I get an error message that says, "The File could not be imported". Quicktime was unable to parse it.
According to what I read, IMovie should be compatible with Mpeg-4 Files.
I've even tried to create Mpeg-4 files from the original video files off the DVD. Still no dice.
Dying to get all the 'slow' moments out of all the hideous Birthday Party footage.
I'm a newbie so forgive my lack of experience.

Don't suppose you have the original DV tape-do you? If so, that's your best bet for editing..
With that said, if you decide you need to use the DVD, then you will need to convert that DVD into something that imovie can use. (Thus, there is a possiblitlity of loss if quality..)
