First off, you don't have an iPod classic, it was never issued in a 30GB version. Check this link to see what iPod you have.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353
Secondly, it may help to provide further info such as whether you are using the iPod automatically or manually to transfer music and whether or not you see any error messages.
Does iTunes see the iPod? What happens when you try to transfer songs?

  • Unable to load songs onto Ipod from Intel Imac

I am unable to unload songs onto my 5th gen ipod from my Intel Imac. No amount of troubleshooting has helped so far; SMC, restore, swapping usb ports, swapping cables, PRAM, etc.
I can, however, load songs onto the ipod from my 6 yr old Tibook. This leads me to believe my Imac has a usb port problem, unless somehow my ipod is at the root of this issue?
The tibook's usb is 1.1, not 2.0, which makes for verrry loonngg load times and I woould much rather be able to load from my Imac.
Has anybody else encountered anything like this before?
Of course my Imac and my ipod are out of warranty - if my Imac (or my Ipod) are in need of repair, can anybody recommend or anti-recommend good repair services, preferably in the Seattle area?
    please and thanks,
    dt

Yes, Itunes starts up, no dialog boxes at first but I can anticipate soon getting a whirling beachball of death oftentimes just by plugging in the ipod, definitely if and when I try to load any songs onto it.
I often eventually get a dialog box to the tune of ipod could not be loaded to for unknown reasons 1435. Thats the only one I remember right now, though it seems I have gotten slight variations on this theme.
The ipod appears both in itunes and the desktop, although if itunes freezes I cannot see the whole desktop to confirm at all times. Yes, the ipod does appear in the system profiler under usb.
Eventually the entire computer will be taken over by the wbbod, forcing a hard re-boot.
    please and thanks,

  • Unable to load purchases to iPod

Unable to load purchases to iPod. I have 4 movies purchased. In iTunes, the movies are there. each movie has a small blue dot to the left of the check box, what is that?
I have iTunes to sync manually to the iPod, but still the movies will not load tot he iPod. Even when I apply setting, nothing transfers.
Since I had a hard time finding this, can someone (anyone) please e-mail me at: [email protected]
    PLEASE HELP

Do you get an error message when trying to add the movies to your ipod?
You might try de-authorizing and reauthorizing your computer.
    Then sync your ipod again.
Something else to try is to rebuild your itunes library.
    This article might help.

If the purchased videos still will not transfer to your ipod you can go into your itunes store account and view your purchase history. here you can report a problem with the videos purchased.

  • Load songs off ipod to computor or disk

Is there anyway to load songs off ipod to computor or disk?

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.

For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola and iDump.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • HELP: iTunes 6 unable to sync songs with ipod - hangs freezes crashes

    Hi,
This has been posted before, but a search of 500 messages have turned up no solutions. Anyone who has any idea of a solution please help.
    PROBLEM:
iTunes 6 and ipod 5th gen unable to sync songs or manually move more than 50 songs at a time to ipod. It hangs / freezes / crashes when updating the ipod. It will stop at 50 songs, 100 songs, sometimes even 2200 songs - out of 8000.
The "Beachball of death" comes on, and there is no way to force quit or stop the now frozen update. The only thing that gets a response is pulling the ipod from the dock or powering the computer down manually.
    TRIED:
    1. Repair permissions
    2. Update ipod with latest ipod update software
    3. Restore ipod " " " " '
    4. Used Activity Monitor to see where program hangs - no added info, it will stop randomly at different songs, and next time around it will pick another son to hang / freeze at
    5. uncheck "put hard disks to sleep when possible" in Energy Preferences pane
I am at my wits end with this..... will try anything.... even Voodoo at this point as long as you tell me it worked for you!
Anyone ever solved this long standing problem (which seems to be present with iTunes 7 as well) ?
    Thanks !

  • ITunes will not load songs on IPod

Recently, my Itunes has stopped adding songs to my Ipod. When I try to drag a playlist into my Ipod, Itunes will load one song and then stop. I've made sure that I have my Ipod set to manually manage my music. I've connected another Ipod and the same thing happens. Any assistance that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciate.

I am also having the same problem with IPod Mini(6G). I purchased it September 2005.
The only thing different was that I needed to change my credit card information. I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

  • Error mesage when trying to load songs onto ipod, computer is authorized

my husband and I have 2 different user IDs on vista and when I tried to load some songs from our public itunes directory onto his ipod, an error pops up saying this computer is not authorized to play these songs. When I try to authorize the computer in the itunes store it says, computer already authorized but I continue to get the error. I logged out of my account and back in but it still isn't working. Now when I tried to sync my iphone under my user id on the laptop I'm getting the error message that the computer is not authorized so it can't sync my iphone apps. It worked fine a week ago, this is not a new computer.

I have the exact same problem, meaning I have to reinstall a game I bought in iTtunes Store every time I plug in my iPod.
I just tried the signing out, restart, signing in proces, but it didn't work for me.. any other suggestions how to solve this?
I've been experiencing this problem ever since I updated itunes to 8.1, and even now after updated to 8.2 it's still the same..

  • Trouble with loading songs onto ipod

I was trying to load some of my existing cd's onto my ipod and after a while it wouldnt load anymore songs on. And after several times of trying to get a cd onto my ipod, it deleted all the songs I had already in it off my ipod. So I had to go back and load all the previously existing songs back onto my ipod.
I dont know why it isnt letting me load some of my cd's on. One cd it only loaded 1 song from the 12 that were on the cd.
I dont want to risk trying to load another cd on if its going to erase everything again.
    Anyone know whats going on?

I'm not sure about the whole problem, but for the CD problem, single click to hightlight the first song on the list that comes up when you use the CD. Then, while holding shift, click the last song on the list. If you'be done this correctly, you should see all the songs between the top and bottom hightlighted. Then, click and drag the songs into the library and they should all download. The first will download, then the next when that finishes, and you get the idea, P.S. you do not need to use shift when you drag the songs to the library.
It's happened to me sometimes, too.

  • Load songs from ipod to new computer

i recently got a new computer and i want to load the songs from my ipod to the new itunes library...i have done this before but i cant seem to find the link that sent me to the place with the directions to do this...if anyone knows the link can they please post it?! thankssss (:

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    iRepo Mac and Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
One last thing, if your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to a different computer with an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes 7.3 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that way you can continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed above your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Whichever of method you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Unable to put songs on Ipod

    Hello,
I have a Ipod Nano I think its the 5th generation. Anyways, I originally set it up with my laptop but since my laptop got stolen I got a new laptop and it wont let me put songs on my ipod. I clicked to "authorize computer" but that doesnt work. I get a black circle with a line across not allowing me to put songs on there. I have songs in my Itunes but it wont put them on my ipod...please help!!!

As to how to get rid of the exclamation marks, I would locate all of the music into one or tow easy to find files. In iTunes go to File...Inport. Then, browse for your folders and open them. iTunes should put them back into the iTunes Library folder. You should be able to relocate this folder on your ext. drive. It should be located in a folder called "My music" with a subfolder called "iTunes Music".
As to how to delete all of the duplicate music. I think (but not sure) that iTunes will only load one copy into the music folder.
    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to copy songs into iPod

hi, i'm new iPod user, i have an iPod mini.
i tried to sync my iPod with iTunes, but had this error message that said: some of the items in the iTunes music library were not copied into the iPod because the iPod software is too old. Go to www.apple.com/ipod/download to get the latest iPod Updater.
I went to the website and downloaded the newest version of iTunes. i did not see an "iPod Updater" anywhere.
This did not solve the problem. i am unable to download any songs into my iPod.
    Would someone please help?
much appreciated, i have gone through a lot of trouble to get this iPod working, and it is so frustrating that the last step is still a barrier at this moment. hoping someone will be able to offer some help here.
    thank you.

I went to the website and downloaded the newest version of iTunes. i did not see an "iPod Updater" anywhere.
in the new itunes 7.0.x versions there is no longer a separate "standalone" ipod updater application. you use itunes itself for the update. for instructions on how to do that, see:

  • HT1947 Unable to load songs in Remote Application

I have an ipod touch with the Remote application installed. Reinstalled today after I experienced problems loading the songs via a playlist view or artist view. it appears to time out and the remote application closes. I am using Home Sharing. I can see the library, the lists, but when I try to load the list, the app waits a few seconds, then closes. I have an iPhone 4 and cannot duplicate the problem on that device and it works just fine. Any insights?
    Thanks,
    Mark

This issue is related to weblogic transaction timeout.
Can you increase the weblogic domain transaction timeout?
By default it is 30 sec, increase to 600
Refer Domain --> Configuration --> JTA to increase timeout.
