Unable to Locate or Parse the XML source

I've just started playing around with Dreamweaver 8 and I'm
trying to pull in a RSS feed. I've followed the instructions in
Dreamweaver, but when I add my XML source (
http://rss.cnn.com/rss/cnn_law.rss)
I get an error message in the bindings area where the XML structure
should be displaying that says "Unable to locate or parse the XML
source". I'm somewhat familiar with XML and new to RSS feeds so I
have no idea what this means. Any help will be appreciated.

Kelli, I know this is months late for you.. but I get the
same error.. I found if I downloaded the xml locally I was able to
set up my xsl page. After I got the page to look the way I wanted I
switch the source to the external URL.
If you have found a fix for the error please let me know,
other then that this way will work.

  • CS3 - "Unable to locate or parse the XML source"

    Hello,
    When I try and attach a remote XML source to my XSL fragment,
    Dreamweaver
    CS3 tells me "Unable to locate or parse the XML source".
    This happens irrespective of where the remote XML file is
    located, and for
    all the remote XML files that I have found and tested from a
    myriad of
    different sources - I always get the same response.
    I can download any of these XML files and work with them
    locally, which
    Dreamweaver is quite happy to do, but that isn't appropriate
    for an
    application that needs to rely on an XML feed that is always
    up to date!
    From searching Google I can find numerous other queries of
    this nature, but
    no solutions! I am not sure if it is a Dreamweaver problem,
    or related to
    the type of web server I'm using or indeed to the corporate
    firewall here.
    For clarity, only Dreamweaver can't locate the remote XML
    sources - pasted
    into a browser they are all perfectly valid.
    (Apologies for sort of cross posting, I have already asked
    this question
    slightly differently on macromedia.dreamweaver)
    Cheers,
    D.

    Why do I get this error when I'm trying to get the XML source

    The

    your actions.xml must not be able to be read.
    open it in notepad yourself to see does it open, if so its not corrupt, if doesnt open download patch again.
    More then likely will be fine so try locate the patch in a shorter home path, like c:\patches\12375678 and see does it install from there.
    Only other thing I can think of is the main inventory.xml, usually c:\program files\oracle\inventory\inventory.xml
    try notepad with that too.

  • Unable to locate Spring NamespaceHandler for XML schema namespace

    I am not sure if this is the best practice approach but this is the problem I am ruining into. Below, I explain what I am doing:
    1) What I am doing:
    =============
    Based on the oracle incubator example (http://coherence.oracle.com/display/INCUBATOR/Processing+Pattern+Examples); I am running a server and submitting tasks through a proxy application that submits them to ProcessingPatternConfigurator; let's call my task processReport.
    a) my processReport is using spring and ibatis together, I created a utility static class to obtain a spring context and retrieves beans using the following lines ( see exhibit "A1 and A2" below).
    b) when my task calls the context and that spring loads, it is failing with the error show in exhibit "B".
    I suspect I am missing a lib? I googled the error and searched you site but could find a meaningful discussion on it. I guess my question is if this is not the best approach, how do I integrated with spring initializing beans and setting up ibatis framwork, providing beans and database access through Ibatis for each task ruining on the grid (processReport).
    thanks
    A1) processReport (submitted in the grid) uses this line
    AbstractXmlApplicationContext ctx = (AbstractXmlApplicationContext) AmrContextUtil.getInstance();
              System.out.println("Classpath loaded. Executing Report...");
              ReportProcessor repProcessor = (ReportProcessor) ctx.getBean("reportProcessor");
    A2) Here is the AmrContextUtil:
    import org.springframework.context.support.AbstractApplicationContext;
    import org.springframework.context.support.ClassPathXmlApplicationContext;
    public final class AmrContextUtil {
         private static AbstractApplicationContext ctx = null;
         public AmrContextUtil() {
              super();
         public final static synchronized AbstractApplicationContext getInstance(){
              if (ctx == null){
                   ctx = new ClassPathXmlApplicationContext("classpath:config/applicationContext.xml");
                   setCtx(ctx);
              return ctx;
         public final static synchronized AbstractApplicationContext getCtx() {
              return ctx;
         public final static synchronized void setCtx(AbstractApplicationContext ctx) {

    My guess is that something is broken in the configuration of the cacheServer and its not finding
    all of the dependencies that your process pattern application needs. Probably the best way
    to debug this stuff is to define a static main in your runnable task which will make the call
    to the run() method and invoke it as the main class using the identical settings (classpath,
    run directory) that you are using to launch the Coherence cache server.

  • 10g Admin/Desktop error :could not locate or parse the .dbc file error

    Hi there,
    can any one help me how to fix this error i get this while connecting to Discoverer Admin/Desktop edition 10g ver 10.1.2
    Unable to connect to: username@crp2
    Failed to connect to database - could not locate or parse the .dbc file
    c:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\discoverer\secure\us-oracle3.dbc corresponding to the given Oracle Applications instance
    i had created the system environment variable FND_SECURE and i've placed the .dbc files in the folder (C:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\discoverer\secure)
    but, i still get error
    Thanks,
    Max

    Hi Russ
    Here's some additional info from my own library:
    1. Set or check the following registry settings on your Admin PC:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Oracle\Discoverer 10\Database\EnableTriggers should be DWORD with a value of 1
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Oracle\Discoverer 10\Database\DefaultPreserveDisplayPropertyForRefresh should be a DWORD with a value of 1
    2. You need to create for yourself a folder called SECURE under your ORACLE folder:
    e.g. mkdir c:\oracle\secure
    3. Copy the DBC File from the E-Business Suite database and place it in the secure directory. It will be located in the TOP directory in the database.
    4. Create a Windows System Variable FND_SECURE with the value as in step 2 above: e.g. c:\oracle\secure
    5. Update your %ORACLE_HOME%/network/admin/tnsnames.ora to include an entry for the E-Business Suite database. The database name must match the two_task entry in the dbc file.
    6. You may have to rename the dbc file so that it matches the name by which you are referring to that database in your TNS Names file
    Does this help?
    Best wishes
    Michael

  • How to pull the root level XML tags in the XML source-SSIS?

    Hi All,
    Can anyone please help out with the following requirement?
    There is a XML file data which I need to pull it to database. Please see the attached XML file.
    Question: When I am trying to pull the root level data (i.e. CreationDateTime and FileNumber) from XML source in the dataflow, the respective tag is not seen in the input. Can anyone help me how can I get those values in my input to pull the data to Database?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sri

    Hi Sri,
    In SQL Server Integrated Services, we can generate XML Schema (XSD) file based on a XML file with XML Source Editor. For more details, please refer to the following steps:
    Double-click the XML Source in the Data Flow Task.
    Browse the XML file for the XML location.
    Click the Generate XSD button to generate an XSD file.
    If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.

  • Parsing the xml with out dom parser in Oracle10g

    Hi,
    I need to parse the xml and create new xml with out any parsers in oracle 10g.Please help me how to do this one.

    Parsing without a parser eh? Could be tricky. Maybe if you go to the XML DB forum and explain your problem over there someone can help you...
    XML DB forum FAQ:
    XML DB FAQ

  • Ignoring the DOCTYPE element while parsing the xml

    I am using JAXB parser to read from and write into my xml file using java code. My xml file contains a DOCTYPE element pointing to a .dtd file which does not exist, due to which I get a FileNotFoundException when JAXB tries to read the xml file. Hence, after unmarshalling the xml file using jaxb, I use a SAXParser to get an XMLReader which removes this DOCTYPE element as given below -
    SAXParserFactory parserFactory = SAXParserFactory.newInstance();
    parserFactory.setValidating(false);
    XMLReader reader = parserFactory.newSAXParser().getXMLReader();
    reader.setFeature("http://apache.org/xml/features/nonvalidating/load-external-dtd", false);
    After making the required changes to the xml file and marshalling it back, I then use an XMLWriter to add the DOCTYPE element back to the xml file as given in the code snippet below -
    SAXReader saxReader = new SAXReader();
    Document document = saxReader.read(_file);
    document.addDocType(rootElement, publicUri, systemUri);
    XMLWriter output = new XMLWriter(new FileWriter( _file ));
    output.write( document );
    output.close();
    Right now I am using both, the JAXB parser to read from and write into the xml file and SAXParser/SAXRader just to delete/add the DOCTYPE element. I want to avoid using two different parsers in my class and want to know if JAXB provides any mechanism to delete and then add this element while parsing the xml file.

    Standard answer for this FAQ: set an EntityResolver on your parser that sends an empty string instead of the DTD. The API docs have an example that you could modify to do that.

    <mailing_list name="test1">
    <mailing_list_users>
    <user email="[email protected]" address="abcd" />
    <user email="[email protected]" address="abcdef" />
    </mailing_list_users>
    </mailing_list>
    <mailing_list name="test2">
    <mailing_list_users>
    <user email="[email protected]" address="abcd1" />
    <user email="[email protected]" address="abcdef1" />
    </mailing_list_users>
    </mailing_list>
    </mail>
    In this example, i want to loop thru all the mailing lists to extract therir values and under each mailing lists i want to loop thru all the users and their details.
    I require this urgently. Any help will be appreciated.

    I am not sure if this is the correct way to do it but I found such class from my old codes:
    import java.util.*;
    * class for parsing strange value of time to "normal" view
    public class NumericToTime
         GregorianCalendar gc = null;
         StringTokenizer st = null;
         int days, hours, minutes, seconds, milliseconds;
         float fract;
         public NumericToTime(String str)
              try
                   gc = new GregorianCalendar(1900,0,0);
                   st = new StringTokenizer(str, ".");
                   days = Integer.parseInt(st.nextToken());
                   Float f = new Float("0." + st.nextToken());
                   fract = f.floatValue();
              catch(NoSuchElementException e)
                   fract = 0.0f;
         * method which calculate time
         public void calculateTime()
              float h, m, s;
              gc.add(GregorianCalendar.DATE, days-1);//days-1 MS'i fenomeenil baseeruv "patch"
              h = (float)(24.0*fract); hours = (int)h;
              gc.set(GregorianCalendar.HOUR, hours);
              m = (float)(60.0*(h - (float)hours)); minutes = (int)m;
              gc.set(GregorianCalendar.MINUTE, minutes);
              s = (float)(60.0*(m - (float)minutes)); seconds = (int)s;
              gc.set(GregorianCalendar.SECOND, seconds);
              milliseconds = (int)(1000.0*(s - (float)seconds));
              gc.set(GregorianCalendar.MILLISECOND, milliseconds);
         * method which return time value as Date object
         public Date getTime() {
              return gc.getTime();
    Hope this is some help for You!

    Hi Rodrigo,
    Do you use a specific "encoding" like UTF-8 or ISO-8859-1 in your Sender CC.
    Try changing the Transfer mode to Binary instead of Text.
    Also go through these links:-
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/e3/94007075cae04f930cc4c034e411e1/content.htm
    Invalid char in XML from inbound IDoc
    Hope this provides a solution.

  • Can we change the XML source of the form bulider ?

    Hi,
    I have one doubt in the XMLfrombuilder. in Renderlist form.when we give "Link to xml source " in the hyperlink property it will show the xml source code.
                      is there  any possibility to change  and save the source code so that the changes should reflect to the form.
    Thanks ,
    Rajeev.

    Hi,
    you can write styles direct to the element:
    <td height="10%" valign="top" style="padding:0px;margin:0px;border-left-color:#000000;border-left-width:1px;border-left-style:solid;font-size:1px" width="0%" rowspan="1" colspan="1"> </td>
    or format elements with style from css:
    <a tabindex="0" class="urLnkDragRelate urTxtStd">
    Did you mean that with style use?
    In our project we created forms with some of these properties. E.g. we use under System the property Modified By.
    Regards,
    René

  • How to get the XML Source again from the same RDF ???

    If the one new column is added in the .rdf file, then how u create your new XML source by submitting the same cp?
    When I ran the cp for 1st time, I was able to get xml source by view output, save it, make rtf and make data defn and template creation.
    But how to get the XML source If the one new column is added in the same .rdf file?
    Thanks
    Ud.

    The simple answer is: you don't.
    Not only is it simply not possible, but the entire concept of "the active browser" doesn't exist.
    You were on the right track with your code to retrieve the page directly from the server, but as you noticed that code will only work for regular http connections.
    For https and other protocols you will need to use appropriate libraries for each protocol. Something like Apache Commons can help you with that. There are networking libraries in there for a lot of commonly used protocols.

  • How to Parse the XML generated by Mapping LookUp - RFC API

    How to parse the XML created in the target node ?
    Regards
    Pravesh

    Hi,
    Check the second half of my code in this blog,
    /people/bhavesh.kantilal/blog/2006/11/20/webservice-calls-from-a-user-defined-function
    It deals with webservice call's but almost the same for RFC.
