Unable to log in to the portal - missing Directory Service?

Hi!
I'm unable to log in to the Management Portal, getting this error message:
"We are having trouble logging you into the portal. Your subscription does not have an associated directory and this is preventing us from logging you in. Please contact support."
I've tried to call Microsoft regarding this issue, each of the four times I was routed forward, given phone-numbers for Azure support and redirected, each call ended with basically the same reply "uuhhh... I don't support Azure, sir, and I don't know
how to help you..." - Microsoft needs to inform their frontline people better!
Anyways, at some point I was told that I have to "file a ticket" in the Azure support forums, and that a representative will call me up after. So here is the ticket, and I'm anxiously awaiting a reply.
In case I'm not clear - I have an urgent need to access the portal, as I need to put some more assets in there, aka *you're losing money, Microsoft!* (maybe that'll get your attention.. ;) )
Thanks in advance,
Thomas Qvidahl, supporter and fan of Azure, though faith is waning..
Best regards,
Thomas Qvidahl

  • Unable to log in to the user account [username] at this time

My Powerbook G4 is running Mac OS X 10.4.11
    Processor: 1.5 GHz PowerPC G4
    Memory: 768 MB DDR SDRAM
    Startup Disk Macintosh HD
    Serial # 4H511OAJRJ5
    Capacity 74.4 GB
    Available: 2.3 GB
My problems began when I had a warning message that read something like, “your startup disk is getting full. Delete some files”
Around the same time my battery was showing signs of being spent (wouldn’t take a full charge) and would shutdown my powerbook in the middle of operation. I replaced the battery within 12 hours, rebooted, and everything seemed normal; I could log in and access all programs, files, photos, music, etc. The error message reappeared to deletes some files. I ran TechTool Deluxes and it suggested repairing my Volume Directory. There were a few suggestions in green and one in red. I accepted the ones in green and made the changes. It reopened TechTool and ran again, this time everything showed up as a “red” (drastic) directory change. I did not accept. I shut down. I rebooted, and that is when my heart sank.
My account log in screen appeared (I have my master account and a “test” account available) and I entered my log in password. After several moments, the message “You are unable to log in to the user account [username] at this time.” I can log in to my “test” account but I have not been able to access any of my files from that account. Also, my Test account appears to be running Panther instead of Tiger; could that be? Anyway, I read some similar problem posts here and was hopeful that DiskWarrior could help restore me. I purchased and ran it successfully (at least DiskWarrior said it was a success) but I still have the same results.
I tried to access both my caches folder and my Desktop folder from my “test” account, but these are the error messages I received:
The folder “Caches” could not be opened because you do not have sufficient access privileges.
The folder “Desktop” could not be opened because you do not have sufficient access privileges.
I was shocked to see my Available space was only 2.5 GB. I don’t know how that can be right.
I’m open to anything to retrieve my files – Any suggestions?

You need to delete some file not try to repair the disk volume. but anyway...

You need to develop a full backup plan. Get an external hd and backup to it.

Would you be using filevault? Which would mean you need more space.

Doubtful. What does apple > about this mac say?

    Why?
I’m open to anything to retrieve my files – Any suggestions?
I buy an external disk with both fireware & usb and use carbon copy cloner to duplicate you hd.
run batcmd from an admin account to let you change permissions.
From an administrator account enable root & be careful. This will let you look at any file on the system & delete everything!!!
    Get a new admin id.
"BatChmod is a Cocoa utility for manipulating file and folder privileges in Mac OS X. It allows the manipulation of ownership as well as the privileges associated to the Owner, Group or others."
    http://www.macchampion.com/arbysoft/Welcome.html
As an aside, I just noticed that the button to "apply to all enclosed items' is greyed out. I started checking other folders and best I can tell, all folders on my startup volume will not allow me to apply any permission changes to all enclosed items. Think this might have something to do with the alias issue?
I noticed that my "apply to all enclosed items' button is greyed out too. I use BatChmod fps instead.
Get the Mac to set up an additional administrative account. You can then change the password on your old account.
Start with your computer power off. Hold down command-s. Power on your computer.
    Type in the following:
The first two commands will depend on your release of Mac OS X. Look at what is typed out in the console to determine the exact format.
    # Type the follow two instructions to access the startup disk in read/write. Press return after each command.
    /sbin/fsck -fy
    /sbin/mount -uw /
    cd /var/db
    pwd
#List all files. The l is a lower case L.
    ls -a
#The move command acts as a rename command in this format.
    mv -i .applesetupdone .applesetupdone.old
    reboot
Once you've done that the computer reboots and it's like the first time you used the machine. Your old accounts are all safe. From there you just change all other account passwords in the account preferences!!

  • Unable to log in to the user account (name) at this time

I get this error message when I try to log-in in my main admin account. And this is not a lost password issue I know im typing the write password because when I type a wrong one the box shakes when I type the right one it gives me that message.
I tried alot of stuff to gain access to it but I cannot, the only thing that I can do is go in as root user and extract the files that I had in there, but I have no physcial access to the login it self, I started making a different account name for it but I dont want to lose all my prefrenses although I think the only thing that is making it this way is File Vault (its swtiched on for the locked out account)
    Any thoughts?

I'm also getting the dreaded "You are unable to log in to the user account __ at this time" but believe this happened when I inadvertently tuned off an external hard drive without ejecting it first. At first, I thought it was a File Vault problem, but my user.sparseimage file is still there and accessible once I changed the permissions to those of another user account.
What I have come to believe, based on other postings I have read on this topic, at least in my case, is that I must have corrupted the logged in user on the netinfo file. The solutions I've seen so far for fixing the netinfo file seem pretty complicated, though I do have a backup of that file.
I have yet to decide whether the netinfo problem is easily fixable or if I would better employ my time moving my iTunes and iPhoto files off that sparse image and into another user account. I'm open to suggestions.

  • "Unable to log in to the user account"

I'm having a problem I'm hoping one of you may have come up against and
solved. We have two Mac OSX.4 servers - one a login server, the other
contains the student Homes folders. Now when a student who has an account
from last year logs in, a message says "You are unable to log in to the user
account "username" at this time. Logging in to the account failed because an
error occurred. The home folder for the user account is located on an AFP or
SMB server. Contact your system administrator for help."
It seems there is a problem with the hand off from the login server to the
data server. I can connect to the data server through Connect to Server
while logged on as admin, so the server is accessible on line. I double-checked the Sharing info of the shared points and they are set correctly. Also, when I run Server Monitor, the stats summary for both servers says "waiting for response."
    Any ideas? Thanks!

    Mike
Server Monitor is an application that monitors XServe hardware providing feedback for the administrator. It has nothing to do with the Server Operating System. If your trying to use it on anything other than an XServe all you'll see is "Waiting for Response" all day long.
If your hardware is an XServe then you need to use either localhost or the server's loopback address (127.0.0.1) in the name field followed by the default admin's account's password.
+"The home folder for the user account is located on an AFP or+
+SMB server. Contact your system administrator for help"+
This error is usually down to (but not always) a DNS/DHCP issue or some other obscure network related issue affecting DNS. What does the logs say server and client side when the log-in fails?
Its possible the affected user no longer exists as a principal? Does the same thing happen to this user regardless of which client computer is used? You could search the schema using dscl from a client to see if the affected user is listed in the LDAP database? Alternatively you could issue:
    sudo kadmin.local -q list_principals
On the server itself. If the affected user is not listed but exists in WGM then review the password type. It's possible its been set to Crypt? You could delete the user and re-create the account again and re-locating the home folder and trying again. It's also possible the student's home folder has developed a problem? Does the 'jiggle' and error occur immediately or after a slight delay? Do you have a strict Password Policy in place? Sometimes problems can develop with the Password Policy (it does get logged) that affects single accounts only.
You could try and create a completely new account and home for the affected user. Transfer the data from the old home propagate default permissions and go for a log-in again. Does it work now?
I'm assuming the two servers in question are in a Master/Replica relationship?

A security feature of OSX. It encrypts your entire home folder.

  • You are unable to log in to the user account at this time

I am facing this problem for some time now. Can anyone give some hints?
By the way. Excuse me for my English. I am not a native speaker.
I have a MacMini with Snow Leopard Server (10.6.7 since yesterday) wired to two iMacs (10.6.7), two PC's running Windows and a Time Capsule/Airport (7.5.2) which is wirelessly connected to a MacBook Air (10.6.7), iPad and iPhone.
The PC's use file sharing (SMB) which works fine.
The Server has some network accounts. Home dir is on the server.
At one iMac, I can log in to a network account. E-mail, iCal on Server, sync with iPad and iPhone. Works fine.
At the second iMac, I can NOT log in to any network account. Window shakes, saying "You are unable to log in to the user account at this time" and "Logging in to the account failed because an error occurred". In Terminal window, I can reach /Network/Servers/do.main.name/Users. Using the Finder, I can access all my files. If I shut down the first iMac, I can log in.
At my MacBook, I can not log in to my network account. In Terminal window, I can Not reach /Network/Servers/do.main.name/Users. I get "Users: Host is down". But using Finder, I have access to all my files. Shutting down both iMacs doesn't help. Airport settings see to be correct.
Where do I have to look. On the Server side? Using Server Admin and Workgroup Manager (from any client) I can not see anything strange. In WGM, multiple login for the network accounts is enabled. I even have Guest Access enabled for AFP (both in the sharepoint and in AFP settings).
    Anyone?

  • "Unable to log in to the user account . . . "  Any suggestions?

    Hi,
I have a 500 mhz PowerBook G4 that I've been using as a secondary computer since I got my MacBook Pro a few months ago. The PB has a 100gig drive with two partitions. There are 10.4.11 systems on both drives. This morning I renamed both drives in their info windows. I also opened the sharing pane in system preferences and renamed the computer from "John's-Computer" to "John's-PBG4-Computer" or something like that. (It was early and I was fooling around and thinking that I might want to share between the 3 computers we have around here and that the PB had the same name as the MacBook.)
Well, I went to open Safari out of the dock and a question mark appeared over the icon. I tried Mail too and the same thing happened. I went back to Sharing and changed the computer's name back to it's original name. At this point, if I remember correctly, I restarted the computer, and it started up ok, showed me the Mac OSX start up pane, but then the window stating, "You are unable to log in to the user account "myname" at this time" appeared. I hit ok and the log in window came up, but of course I wasn't able to log in.
I've searched the forums for a solution but haven't been able to solve my problem yet. A couple of things you should know: There is no other user account on this computer. And, I broke the computer's internal dvd drive two or three years ago,(tripped over the power cord an pulled it off a bedside table - ouch), so I can't boot up from the original install disc in the internal drive.
I have tried using an external dvd drive with the install disc to boot up from as well as a start up system clone on an external hard drive by holding down the c key on start up but the PB just goes straight to the "You are unable . . ." window followed by the log in screen. I have also tried (multiple) Safe Boots and resetting the pram.
At this point the only idea I have left is to pop out the hard drive, put it in a case and try to access the drive from my other computer. (I swapped out drives in this computer a couple of years ago so I'm not daunted by that task.)
Do any of you have any suggestions of anything else to try before I pop open the case?
    Thanks for your help.

Had the same issue. Restarted the server and it started working. Go figure!

  • You are unable to log in to the File Vault user account "myaccount "...

I know there are various posts already out there on remedies for recovering your data stored on a FileVault account when you receive the following message at the login screen; *"You are unable to log in to the File Vault user account "myaccount " at this time"*, but this genuinely worked for me despite AppleCare providing absolutely no assistance whatsoever. In fact, if I had followed their advise I'd be inconsolable right now having wiped my MacBook Pro and contemplating the prospect of rewriting my two essays due in 3 days time!
I, in a moment of shear stupidity, decided to move the sparsebundle file in my one and only account to trash. Thinking nothing of my foolish actions I shut down for the evening without a care in the world. The next day I started up my computer as usual, and as usual I was prompted at the login screen for my password. I entered the correct password, but was alarmed to see the message above flash before my eyes. Without boring you all with what I did over the weekend waiting for AppleCare to open again on Monday morning. Anyway, this post is specifically for people who have put the sparsebundle of their FileVault-enabled account in the trash (NOT anything else!) without emptying it, of course! The other prerequisite is that you must REMEMBER YOUR FILEVAULT ACCOUNT PASSWORD!
    1. Firstly, you must insert *Disc 1 of the Mac OS X Install* discs.
    2. Restart your computer holding down the letter S (make sure you are holding this down BEFORE the start up noise sounds)
    3. Select the appropriate language and continue to the next screen (DO NOT go past the next screen, the WELCOME screen)
    4. At the grey bar at the top, under Utilities, select *Reset Password*
    5. Select the Administrator/Root account and proceed to change the password of this account to test
    6. Confirm the password by reentering it and click Save
    7. Restart your computer and at the login screen you should now be able to select an account named Other
    8. The username for this account is root and the password is test (the password you entered earlier)
    9. Using Finder, locate the Terminal utility, which can be found in *Applications --> Utilities*
    10. Enter the following, ignoring the bold of course (pay attention to lower cases AND spaces!): *defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE*
    11. Hit Enter
    12. On the next line, enter: *killall Finder*
    13. Hit Enter again
    14. Type: exit on the next line and close Terminal
    15. This has enabled the hidden files on your computer to be visible
    16. You then need to locate the sparsebundle file in the trash of your usual account folder (it could be 501, so search for that too) whilst logged in to the administrator account
    17. Once you have found it, click *Go to Folder* under Go in the grey bar and type /Users/
    18. Create a *new folder* at this location with a new username
    19. Move the sparsebundle from its present location to the folder you have just created
    20. Click Get Info on the new folder, and at the very bottom click *Apply to enclosed items*
    21. In *System Preferences --> Accounts*, create a new user with EXACTLY the same name as the folder you created (eg. Folder name = burtreynolds, new user = burtreynolds)
    22. A window should appear if you have done the above correctly stating *A folder in Users folder already has same name, would you like to use it?*
    22. Click OK
    23. Click *Show All* at the top of the Accounts window
    24. Restart your system and log in to the new account you have created
    25. The sparsebundle should now be visible
    26. Double-click on the sparsebundle, it will prompt you to enter a password
    27. Enter the password of your former account (if you have genuinely forgotten this password, I honestly can't help any further at this point)
    28. If the password is correct, the sparsebundle will automatically mount and you will have access to all the files
    29. NEVER EVER USE FILEVAULT AGAIN AND BACK UP ALL DATA YOU DON'T WANT TO LOSE!!!
The above worked for me, and to say I'm mildly annoyed with AppleCare is, well, putting it mildly really!

  • Unable to see the portal content directory in content adminstration

    Hi,
I am unable to see the portal content directory in the content administration. I am not the super administrator.I have been assigned content admin role. But, I am unable to see the PCD.I see from previous blogs that permission has to be set for my role.
Can any one help me in telling the procedure to set the permission. If permission is not the issue then do tell me the solution for it.
    Suganya

    Hi Suganya,
The content admin role normally is sufficient to see / read the portal content catalogue (as far as the standard settings are concerned). But maybe they have been restricted on your implementation by some administrator.
Some with sufficient permissions on the portal content catalogue has to right-click on the root (portal_content) object, "open", "permissions", and has to provide at least administrative "read" permission to you, some role (content admin for example) which is assigned to you or some group you belong to.
    Hope it helps

  • Unable to see the portal content directory in content administration role

    Hi,
I am unable to see the portal content directory in the content administration. I am not the super administrator, i have been assigned other roles. But, I am unable to see the PCD. Please help me how this can be sorted out.
    Thanks much in advance,
    Sunitha.S

    Hi Sunita,
Contact your systen admin people , he/she will assign the Read/Write or Full controls to content_admin_role in the system administration -> Permissions -> select portal content folder and right click the select open Permissions , There he/she has to add content_admin_role in Assigned Permissions category and under Administrator category select Full Control and select End user check box and save the changes.
Then you can see the Portal Content and you can create /change the portal contents.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Hari

  • Control the number of users logging in to the portal

    Hello,
Is there any way to control the number of users logging in to the portal?
Issue: We need to limit the users logging in Per Company (Access key).
I read about the Activity Reporting in NW, and that would show us the stats, but does not let us control the logins.  I read all the forum posts on SDN about this topic, they were helpful, but none addressed our needs.
Has anyone implemented such functionality?  If we need a write a custom service or component to accomplish this, then which APIs should I be looking at?
Our Portal Version: We are currently on EP6 SP2 PL 35, and in process of moving to NW.
Any help on this would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Harman

Thanks for the replies, here's a little more info...
We're working on project which allows a company to buy user licenses to access our portal.  So if a company has bought 5 licenses, the 6th user for that company will not be able to login.
*Note: We treat each Access Key in the portal as a company.
The way we determine if the user belongs to a company is by the AccessKey that is assigned to that user. We're not depending on IP addresses at all.
Hope this clears the issue !
I think we'll have to write some custom code to accomplish this.
    Thanks,
    harman

  • Need a way to find out users who have not all logged in into the portal

    Hi all,
Please can some body tell me the way to find out all the users who have not at all logged in into the SAP enterprise portal after their user ID's are created.
Are there any methods(UME APIs) or attributes that set the status of user whether he/she has logged in into the portal first time.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Hajira Rehman

There used to be a way, but here's what Detlev posted earlier this year:
    <b>Hi everyone,
UPDATE on this: From SP16 on, the last successful login date does not get logged into the database anymore, see <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/43/bc6b9202454dece10000000a422035/frameset.htm">here</a> - for performance reasons, as it is stated...
Hope it helps not to fall into this new trap
    Detlev</b>
So, there are no simple APIs - you'll need to build your own mechanism.

  • The object in Directory Services has a class missing

    Hello,
In Pending Events we have a few events for users (who are not yet managed by NSM for AD) with the following actions (and action states):
Evaluating Add Member (Evaluating user policy)
Create User (Getting policy for the user)
The last error message is: 92 : The object in Directory Services has a class or attribute mismatch and is not valid. Viewing the nsmengine-ad-(date).log file, I can see the following entries:
    01 2014-04-02 08:55:20 3600 3 8003 1436 2908 cc::ds_ad::GetObjectListAsyncEx() - Called piDirSearch->GetNextRow(...), HRESULT = 80072030, Result = 15.
    01 2014-04-02 08:55:20 3600 5 0008 1436 2908 PolicyTools::GetEffectivePolicies - Failed to get indirect group memberships for CN=<UserDetails>,DC=local. Result = 15.
A quick search for the error number indicates that the error (80072030) is that there is no such object on the server. All our DCs are Global Catalogs and I can confirm the users exist and are valid. Some of our groups do have a large number of members (up to 30,000).
Any idea what could be causing the issue and how to resolve it?
    Thanks,
    Jonathan

    Jonathan,
Which version of NSM are you using? Specifically, what Engine build are
you on? The easiest way to check this is in the Engine Status panel of
    the NSM Admin client.
