Unable to log on Planning application using Spreadsheet Add-In

Hi.
We are experiencing some problem with Spreadsheet Add-In and Planning application.
We provisioned Planning users and created regularly security filters in Essbase: in fact, we are able to see users in Administration Console with Planning as Application Access Type.
However, users are able to connect to Essbase server using Spreadsheet Add-In but they cannot connect to any application: I mean that they do not see the Planning application and its related databases by Spreadsheet Add-In.
Any idea?
Thanks a lot in advance

Just one more issue.
I tried to create a filter in Essbase, naming it as filter 1. Actually, the filter work correctly, even if the its name has a blank space.
However, if I verify the filter in Administration console, it returns an error ( Invalid object name specified. filter 1 ): I think that it is a bug on 9.3.0.1.
With regards to Planning, I noticed that users are not assigned to their filter in Essbase. In fact, as I take a look under Security node in Administration Console, no user has Access Database set to Filter, even if I would expect for it. Am I wrong?
Anyway, that it is why users ticked to Analytic Services and Planning in Shared Services are able to use Spreadsheet Add-In... Unfortunately, they are able to retrieve all data... :_|
Thanks a lot in advance

Note: I have already created two planning applications.
Kindly guide me how to overcome it.

  • Unable to see the planning applications

    Hi All,
I'm using hyperion 11.1.2. I've created a planning application in workspace. Now if i'm using the URL http://localhost:8300/HyperionPlanning, i'm unable to see any planning applications in the drop down ? where as i'm able to access applications in workspace. Do i need to make any settings to see the applications using this URL ? Pls. advice
    Thanks,

As it looks like you only need the default cluster I would start up the configurator, select planning, manage planning clusters.
Choose "Re-Associate Cluster and Application", select default and choose an application, apply, repeat this for all the planning applications.
    Choose Activate Cluster, select default.
Then you can delete the cluster that is not needed.
    Cheers

    Hi all,
I'm working on exalytics migration for planning application(Windows->Linux,EPM 11.1.2.2).
I have successfully completed classic application migration. But for the EPMA planning application, when importing metadata,it failed with the following message:
    Error in migrating artifact, "/Application Metadata/Planning Applications/pln1/Local Dimensions/Account".
Couldn't determine the column delimiter for the ads file being imported. When import EPMA planning application using LCM, it failed with: Couldn't determine the column delimiter for the ads file being imported
    ===========================================================================
    Reproduced Step:
@ From the source environment, creat EPMA planning application ,and login to
    Shared Services console
1- Export the Application Metadata to the file system - AppMetadata (EPM
Architect -> Application Metadata -> Planning Applications)
2- Shared Services -> Native Directory -> Assigned roles -> Application
3- Application Groups -> Application Name
    From the Destination Environment
4- Setup a datasource ready for the new application.
5- Copy the filesystem file to the following folder in destination

Could you please help to take a look, and tell me if I missed any step or there is any known issue for this kind of migration?
    Thanks,

    Thankd for your response.
About the ads file, from log, it should be under /home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/epmsystem1/tmp/xxx/completexx.ads, but seems it was deleted, I can't find it.
    I checked file "/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/epmsystem1/import_export/admin0/EPMA-EPM Architect/resource/Application Metadata/Planning Applications/pln1/Local Dimensions/Account", delimiter is "|".

  • How to redeploy planning application using EPM System Configurator

    Hello All
Can you please let me know how to redeploy planning application using EPM system Configurator.
I am applying a patch to ver 11.1.2.0 and i need to redeploy the planning app as one of the steps.
    Thanks

Run the EPM configurator, expand planning and select "Deploy to Application Server", if it is a distributed environment and planning is not on the same server as the WebLogic admin server you will need to start the Admin Server

  • URGENT : Unable to re deploy Planning application in 11.1.1.3

    Hi All,
We are working on Oracle Fusion 11.1.1.3 version and have created a planning application using the EPM way.
Since yesterday we are facing a peculiar problem which we have not encountered till date.
When we try to deploy the application in Application Library, the deploy option appears to be greyed out.
Can anyone help us in resolving this issue? Its critical for us.
    Thanks.
    Madhavi

If you have a look at the AwbConfig.properties file which for tomcat is located at \Hyperion\deployments\Tomcat5\EPMAWebServer\webapps\awb\WEB-INF\conf
If it has not been updated there will be a line
    DEPLOY_PENDING_TIMEOUT_MINUTES=480
This means it will not timeout until after 8 hours, if you change the timeout to a lower value like 15 and restart the EPMA services hopefully it will notice that the timeout has passed and reset the properties of the app.
Have a look at: Re: EPMA Planning App - Deploy is "Stuck"

  • Accessing Essbase cubes within a HP application using Essbase add-in

    Hi All,
I've been told in the past by Oracle Support personnel that accessing the Essbase cubes within a Planning application using the MS Excel Essbase add-in is "a very bad idea" and that such an approach "is not supported\recommended by Oracle due to potential issues" (which the support person could not tell me about).
Unfortunately, I have not found any information in the Planning documentation which supports or not this recommendation.
    As such:
    1. Could anyone point me in the right direction in terms of finding out whether it is recommended\supported (or not) for users to access Essbase cubes within a Planning application using the Essbase add-in?
    2. Has anyone ever experienced issues accessing Essbase cubes within a Planning application using the MS Excel Essbase add-in? If yes, what were these issues??
PS: We are on v9.3.1.x of Essbase\Planning and will be moving over to v11.1.2.x in the next 6-8 months.
    Thanks in advance,
    JBM

    Hi Rob,
Thank you for your prompt & informative response.
On the topic of metadata, I am aware of what happens when changes are made directly to an Essbase outline which falls under a Planning application without going following the proper method ... and I agree that it ain't pretty! :-)
On the topic of locking\sending data to the Essbase cubes within a Planning application, I also understand that it works quite well in as much as the data is saved in the appropriate intersections within the Essbase cube, as permitted by the security assigned to the user.
I was more interested in whether such a practice of locking\sending data directly to Essbase cubes within a Planning application was actually encouraged or discouraged by Oracle.
And please correct me if I am wrong but from what you are saying, it seems to me that it is neither as:
    - on one hand, the "Essbase Write" HSS feature allows administrators to create security groups and assign this type of provisioning to security groups in question;
    - on the other hand, Oracle Support seems to be verbally discouraging such a practice for no real reasons related to technological limitations;
The problem that I have is that because some users at our site know that they can lock\send data to Essbase cubes within a Planning application and as a result, not only want to get us to grant similar lock\send access to other users but are now more reticent than ever to move away from the Essbase add-in as a means to load\submit data to a Planning application. And that's why I was after some formal recommendation from Oracle as to whether it is a recommended practice or not.
Anyway, any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    JBM

  • Unable to Access New Planning Application via Workspace

    Hi all
i have installed a new Planning server into the existing platform (there is no hardware load balancing so is seen as a single instance of planning) however i am using the existing workspace and HSS.
I have successfully installed and configured the new Essbase and Planning Products and registered against shared services. The issue i have is that i cannot get the new Planning application to be viewable via workspace. I get Application is invalid.!!.
The original (Existing) Planning on server 1 is set to 'Active Instance' in the product registration and these apps can be viewed by workspace etc.
I have created Planning on Server 2 and have created a new instance, but not set the 'Active instance' in the product registration!!!, i have also registered this as the web host tier on the Server 2 not the Server1.
If i use the direct planning URL's for either Planning Server 1 or Planning Server 2 i see the planning applications that are on each server!!
Can anyone tell me what configuration i have missed out! If it helps the Planning Server 1 has its own Shared Services Project and Planning Server 2 has its own Shared Services project.
I have restarted services on Server2 BUT not Server 1 as i am not allowed an outage until the end of the month!!.

    Hi,
Did you create a new Planning app in your new environment? Can you access this new app as a test?
You will need to asociated your app with an active instance and datasource.
In the workspace, when you go to Navigate - Applications - Planning, do you see your Planning app or is it not there at all?
Did you check the logs for any errors? Are you sure the user you are logging on to the Workspace as has been provisioned for that planning app?
When you configured BI+ did you make sure you ticked Planning?

    Hi,
These roles are under the Shared Services section in the user management console, not Planning.
If they re not there then I would say you havent configured BPMA or planning correctly.
