Unable to login , help please !!!

iam new to solaris, i installed solaris 11/06. after it got installed and restarted, at the login screen or login at command prompt. when i type login name as root , password field comes up, but iam unable to type anything expect to press enter in password filed. how should i log in, can any one help me. may i know what is the problem. please help me, thank you

You won't get any visual feedback when you type the password - just type the root password that you specified during the install process and hit return.

Firefox unable to update - Help please

Hello, I am trying to install the latest update of Firefox from 3.6.3 to the new update 3.6.6 and I get the following message:
"A recommended security and stability update is available but you do not have the system permissions to install it. ....."
I am logged on a mac with administrator access and cannot understand why the error occurs. I do not want to complete a fresh install and lose all of my system settings and favourites. Can someone please help ???

Firmware Update Error/Unable to Format/ HELP PLEASE!

I have happily been using three 3G ipods with Windows XP via firewire for 9 months or so until recently....
1. Installed 250GB external USB HD to house music and lost previous library files in the process.
2. On connecting my 40GB ipod, got request to update and then "Firmware update failure-Disk write error" and the dreaded Exclamation mark folder.
3. Returned ipod to Apple Service and bought new 60GB Colour ipod the day before going abroard for a month. This works OK although seems slow to be recognised by itunes and update.
4. Got home today and plugged in my Son's 20GB 3G and got the same problems as above. Tried formatting as suggested in these pages but get "Unable to complete format" message.
5. Apple due to deliver my repaired/replaced 40GB tomorrow - am I likely to get the same problems, and again if I plug in my Daughter's 20GB. It seems unlikely to get 2 faulty ipods within a month with the same symptoms.
Any ideas anyone? I've reset, attempted updates and formats umpteen times and have itunes 4.9 and the latest updater. New 60GB seems OK. Many thanks, Nick.

After running a permissions repair, I ran a disk verification and found that my disk does indeed need repairing. However, I am not currently near my Install disc to perform a disk repair... I will post the results of my disk verification here and ask if it is possible to repair using the 'fsck' alternative. If not, I will attempt to track down my install disc and attempt to repair from there. Thank you both for your help!

WRT110 works for every website except ONE after login, help please

I have a WRT110 version 1.0
It works for every website, except one. And it works for that one website just fine, until I login. When I enter my username/password it accepts it then redirects me to the companies landing page. I can see that because the URL loading changes and it shows the Title in the page which indicates it connected, but then it just sits there 'loading', in the status bar I see the message: "Waiting for tools.domain.com... to load" or something like that. and it takes like 5 to 10 minutes, no joke, then it loads.
If I connect my computer directly to the modem and bypass the router, then it loads just fine, very fast like everything else.
But then when I re-connect my router and refresh the page, it does it again, takes forever, but I can instanly see the title of the page in the title bar.
It works on every computer that I connect trough the mobile hotspot on my 4G verizon phone. but if it is through the router, every computer takes 5 to 10 minutes. Literrally.
Anyone have this happen to them? If so, how did you fix it?

Try the following settings:
# Open up the browser on the desktop and on the address bar type 192.168.1.1 that will open up the Router setup page…
# Lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) from 1500 to 1400 or less (usually found on your router's main/ basic setup page)
# Then click on Security tab disable SPI Firewall Protection, uncheck Filter Anonymous Internet Requests...
Now check the connectivity status.

Unable to Save -- HELP PLEASE!!

Hello all you (hopefully) helpful Mac users,
I am using a PowerBook G4 and recently a very distressing error has begun to repeat itself insidiously. I cannot save files anymore. If I begin a file in Microsoft Word, for example, hitting apple-S or selecting "Save" or "Save As..." will cause Word to "unexpectedly close." I have since learned that the only way I can save a Word document is to leave it open long enough for Word to AutoSave, then find, rename and move that copy to where I want it. As you can imagine, this is incredibly unreliable and has screwed me over repeatedly already. The same goes for all of my programs when they attempt to save a file. For example, Firefox closes whenever I attempt to download an attachment from an e-mail or saving a file from the internet, which is incredibly frustrating. I've had it up to here, and hope you can help me because I am terribly annoyed and no longer have the patience I usually reserve for my beloved Mac to bear this problem.

Hi, I have a similar problem. When I try to log in all I get is a light greyish screen. absolutely nothing else, I wish now that I had not loaded Yosimite. I have tried to Safe Start - to no avail. it is very frustrating and I think apple should not use this technology until it is properly set up. However that does not solve my problem. There is nothing wrong with your Dell, it will work fine with any MacbookPro. I have been using Dell displays for over 12 years with many different Mac models. I have two 21" Ultra Sharp displays working side by side to design a Keynote presentation right now.
The issue your having is with the way Keynote takes control of the video output to both displays, it sends the presentation signal to one and the presenter display to the other, this is set up in;
Keynote preferences > Presenter display.
If you want to show a wesite or another app on either display, use application switcher:
press the the command key on the keyboard, then the tab key; a row of applications will show what applications are running, choose which one you want to show. Use command > tab to return to Keynote.

It would be nice if you told others the steps you've tried and/or how you used to have your setup.
Anyway have you tried tapping MORE this will then bring you to
the selection-list of Audiobooks, Genres, Compilations & Composers.
Selecting Genres gives you a list of all your music split into genres which was set within the Music downloaded via iTunes or uploaded from CD or which you may have set yourself.
Then you just select the Genre you want:
If certent songs are not correctly gategorised you may need to go into iTunes and reselect via Get-info
>Info>Genre and change it there. That way you should end up with all songs of Jazz or other in 1 place.

When I try to update I get an U44M1I210 error message, "Unable to extract the downloaded files" - help please, applies to latest Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop CC

When I try to do a CC update I get an U44M1I210 error message, "Update failed - Unable to extract the downloaded files. Press retry to download again. (U44M1I210)" - help please - re-downloading makes no difference, applies to latest Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop CC, others seemed to update without problems. I can see the disk image files in AAMUpdater folder but they will not open and come up with "couldn't be opened - resource busy" message.

Yes Jeff, I did all those several times to no avail.
I've included a small error snippet from two installs here. In Creative Cloud when updating the Apps, all 3 get to 50%, then the failure occurs. Retrying starts at 50% and fails the same way each time.
This first one is a segment from the Indesign updater - I have always had the all hard drive folders with read and write privileges allowed and I checked again, this is still the case so I do not know why this particular error message is arising. The second snippet if from the Illustrator update.

- The iPod uses the location of a nerby or connected router to determine it location based on a database of routers and their location. It appears that the routers near y are not in Appl'es database. As of yet, nobody here seems to know how to get routers added to the database.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

ID on the Mac can produce reports that may (or may not) prove helpful in diagnosing the problem. I suspect this is something not directly related to InDesign, and maybe not to any of the Adobe apps directly since you seem to be having a problem in more than one. That often inidcates a problem at the system level.
Nevertheless, it won't hurt to try to gather the reports. You'll find driections for how to generate them, and to post them on Pastebin.com (then put a link to them here) so we can see what's going on at Adobe Forums: InDesign CS5.5 Not Responding

How are you trying to sync? With Photo Stream or thru iTunes?
