Unable to login to Team Server from JDeveloper

Greetings!
I have installed the Team Productivity Center. Both the JDeveloper and TPC are on same box. But I have trouble loging in.
What Server name and Port# I should provide while connectiong from JDeveloper? Because while installing TPC it didn't ask/show port#.
The install guild (link pasted below), is not very clear on installation/verification procedure -

ha HA! Figured it out finally after countless hours. This page helped: http://multikoop.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
The parts that aren't covered:
1) The new Oracle Express 11g comes with an application express program I hadn't seen before. Figure out how to create a workspace and it should create an accompanying user/database schema.
2) You've got to setup a weblogic server separate from the integrated one that automatically runs your web programs you deploy from JDev. This should be in your (Windows) start menu with JDeveloper->Weblogic Server->Tools->Configuration Manager. That's how you get that deployment folder posts keep talking about which you're going to point the Oracle Team Productivity Server to.
3) You start the weblogic server in THIS domain (default is base_domain). There should be a file called startWebLogic that starts your server.
4) When you connect to the Team Server in JDev, my team server was localhost. My port was 7001.
And that's how you burn an entire day when you're a noob and have no one to turn to.
Enjoy.

• Unable to start the weblogic server from windows environment

Hi All,
In our training system we have installed the SOA 11g and it worked fine till today afternoon. We have logged off the admin user in windows account and logged with our login credentials into windows after that we are unable to start the weblogic server.
- Earlier in the DOS command prompt we used to navigate to the path where the startWeblogic.cmd file located and then we execute the command, after that we will able to see the status message as RUNNING MODE in the bottom of the screen, and when ever we deploy an project using Jdeveloper in the weblogic server window some messages will appended based on the action.
- Only when we issue the command to shut down the weblogic server at that time only the command will be back to the path from where we started the server.
- After login to windows with our account, when we tried to start the weblogic server, it didn't throw any error instead of that after running few lines in the command window the prompt was back in to the (D:\Middleware\.....\Domains\bin)path from where we ran the command to start the server.
Please help us to resolve the issue asap.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Sathyaseelan

Hi,
Make sure that the user which you are using to start weblogic server should be part of Administrator group or the group to which your admin user belongs to.

• Impossible to connect to BPEL server from Jdeveloper

We have installed the soa suite in the following way
- oracle home 1 on server 1: http server
- oracle home 2 on server 1: apps server with two oc4j, one for the jsso and em and another one for bpel.
I want to deploy the bpel process from jdeveloper.
I first do a server connection to the server 1. When I try to test the connection I get an error
Error getting OC4J Process for: opmn-home+oc4j-oraclesoa.smartwavesa.com-6004-default:
Error connecting to OPMN (is it running?): Connection refused: connect
So I tried to modify the opmn.xml of oracle home 2 by adding the following line
<ipaddr remote=”0.0.0.0” request=”0.0.0.0”/>
After this modification I am able to connect to oracle home 2 from jdeveloper BUT the http URL of enterprise manager and bpel console are no more available.
So my question is how can I enable the deployment of bpel process from Jdeveloper to the server 1?
Thanks for your help

Yes admin instance is running on home 2 and more precisely on oc4j_home.
BPEL and ESB is also running on home 2 but on another oc4j oc4j_soa
If I use the standard configuration (the one that has been created during the installation) I am able to reach all the consoles BPEL, ESB or Enterprise Manager.
Here the output of opmnctl status of http server oracle home

Ok. I found out why it is happening.
If I follow the section 3.1.2 and setup the site studio connection then everything is fine
3.1.2 Creating a Content Server Connection
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/doc.1111/e13650/ssxa_creatingsites.htm#CIHJGHFC
If I try to create a content server connection from file->new->content server connection then I get a null pointer exception.
I am sure someone from Oracle will fix it soon. For now all is well with Site Studio.

• New install issue-unable to connect to DB server from a remote client.

Hi experts,
I am new to setting up oracle server so pls bear with me...
I setup a db server (11g on top of 64bit Oracle Linux) at home (static 192.168.1.90). I verified that db, listener are up and running. However, I tried to connect to the server from a different client machine (192.168.1.108) within my home network but the server cannot be reached. I was able to ping both client and server using the IP addresses and hostnames. I followed the following steps to perform troubleshooting but was unable to move on beyond step 3, telnet-ing the server on port 1521. Can someone help me out what I should do make the port # (1521) is reachable by the client?
1. Check with "ping" using the IP address ("ping 198.11.34.43"
2. Check with "ping" using DNS name (e.g. "tnsping uranus")
3. Try telnet to the IP on port 1521 (telnet 1.2.3.4 1521)
4. Check with "tnsping" using TNS service name
5. Invoke SQL*Plus from the OS command line "sqlplus fred@flintstone". If this fails, check to ensure that your listener is the flintstone service defined.
6. Sign-on to SQL*Plus and connect with the TNS name ("connect fred/flintstome@service_name"
7. Within SQL*Plus, try a select from table@remote_db_link
thanks a lot in advance.

Is COPY & PASTE broken for you?
It is really, Really, REALLY difficult to fix a problem that can not be seen.
use COPY & PASTE so we can see what you do & how Oracle responds.

• Unable to login to Directory Server: SaveChangeException

I saw an earlier posting that reported a similar problem but there was no answer to the question so I will post the question again.
I have just installed Oracle Directory Server but I am unable to login with the default username/password. I can connect if I leave the User and Password fields empty but when I specify orcladmin/welcome I get the error below. Does anyone know what the problem could be and how I can fix it?
Bind of request to LDAP Server failed.
oracle.ldap.admin.common.SaveChangeException: Bind of request to LDAP Server failed.
at oracle.ldap.admin.Root.saveChanges(Root.java:815)
at oracle.ldap.admin.common.AdminPropView.saveChanges(AdminPropView.java:710)
at oracle.ldap.admin.client.propEditors.TabView.commit(TabView.java:538)
at oracle.ldap.admin.client.AdminUtil$logonCmds.run(AdminUtil.java:727)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java)

I figured it out. For anyone else searching for this problem: the issue was that OID was not started. All I needed to do was start it (oidctl .... start) and it seems to be ok now. In any case, I feel a little silly for not starting things up properly but in my defense the error message did not help at all.

• Unable to Start/Stop Directory server from console

We have two Directory Server 5.2 installations with both running as masters with replication between them. One of them was installed with the admin server and the other without. On the one that was installed without the admin server we added it afterwards.
We now find that on the one that had the admin server installed after the directory server that we cannot start/stop the directory server from the server console nor can we view or access backups or logs from the console. The system does however create the log and backup files and we can start/stop it from the command line.
I read in a post somewhere that the admin server can be created with a different user from the directory server or with the same username but a different domain and wondered if that was the problem but have looked through the configuration files on both machines and haven't managed to spot a discrepancy.
Does anyone have any ideas where and what to check?
Thanks in advance.
Peter

Ah, I wouldn't have recognized this scenario if you didn't report the scrozzled user name. The "access denied" error happens for the simple reason that 'IAyjcJlYKL' is not a valid user in your domain. Fancy that. If you look in your config.xml for the "node-manager-username" element, you may find the value is encrypted, and probably is 'IAyjcJlYKL'.
It might be best if you filed a support case for this. I can make some guesses about what you should do, but it's just a guess. In any case, if you try fixing something, make a backup of the file first.
The two things you can try doing are (backup the files and shut down everything first):
* Edit the nm_password.properties file, replacing the one "hashed" line with two lines, setting the "username" property and the "password" property, both in cleartext. When the nodemanager starts up, it will replace those two lines with the "hashed" value.
* Edit the config.xml file, replacing the values in the "node-manager-username" and "node-manager-password-encrypted" elements with their cleartext versions.
Then start up the nodemanager and server.
I'm familiar with this because I saw this happen, and I'm trying to remember the strange thing we had to do. I worked this out with BEA support a while ago. If it helps, my case number was #796710.

• Unable to connect to WSUS server from the console

I am not able to connect to WSUS server from WSUS console any more suddenly! "please verify that IIS on the server is correctly configured and is running'. I find out that Windows Process Activation Service is stuck in starting.
I killed it with taskkill command but I am not able to restart it. It gives 'Error 1053: the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion'.
There are some suggestion online but I am not comfortable with those solutions, I prefer to be guided by Microsoft TechNet, thanks.

• Unable to connect to Admin Server from second machine using WLST

Hello,
PROBLEM
Can't get WLST to connect to admin server from 2nd host to register the domain.
SETUP
I have 2 Centos VMs running on Oracle Virtual box in a single laptop. Both the VMs use "Bridged Networking".
VM-1 CONFIG
cat /etc/hosts
192.168.1.17
dom1 dom1.my mac1
192.168.1.51
centos2 mac2
VM-1 hosts admin server & one managed server
VM-2 CONFIG
192.168.1.51
mac2
192.168.1.17
centos1 mac1
VM-2 hosts just one managed server
I can start up admin on VM-1 fine. The node manager is reachable too. Both the VMs are can be pinged from each other. I can also telnet to the admin server's port ( telnet 192.168.1.17 7001) from the second server.
My HOST OS is Windows 7. I can ping from windows to both the VM IPs too. The reverse is working fine as well.
I've tried both mechanisms of copying the whole domain from machine 1 over to machine2 & also using the pack.sh/unpack.sh combinations to transfer the domains.
When I invoke WLST, this is what happens

Kind Regards

Hi Raj,
Issue is with NM registry with domain home. Please follow the below steps and let us know the status.
1 . Check whether the node manager port ( default 5556 ) is opened for communication on both Admin and Managed server.
2 . After opening the port - We would need to enroll the node manager home with domain home to establish the communication between Admin and Managed server.
a . Start the Administration Server.
b . Using the Administration Console update the Node Manager credentials from the Advanced options under domain_nameArrow symbolSecurityArrow symbolGeneral.
c . Invoke WLST and connect to an Administration Server using the connect command. See Using the WebLogic Scripting Tool in WebLogic Scripting Tool.
d . Run nmEnroll using the following syntax:
nmEnroll([domainDir], [nmHome])
Running nmEnroll() ensures that the correct Node Manager user and password token are supplied to each Managed Server. Once these are available for each Managed Server, you can use nmConnect() in a production environment.
Note: You must run nmEnroll() on each machine that is running a Managed Server. Additionally, you should run nmEnroll() for each domain directory on each machine.

• Problem connecting to SQL Server from JDeveloper 10g using jdbc third party

I am using Oracle 10g Jdeveloper and I tried to setup a database
connection to SQL Server using various Drivers for JDBC as Merlin, jtds, inet.tds, etc.
(I had no problem to set up a connection to an Oracle Database using the
Oracle JDBC driver).
When I am testing the connection throughout the wizard, I do receive
this error message: "Unable to find driver:
com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver".
I m not understanding from last 3 days where to place the corresponding JAR files so thaI may not get the Error.
When I hit n trialed at various directories of the JDeveloper as </rootDir/jdbc/lib>
</rootDir/lib>
</root/jdev/my Work/Application1/Project1/public_html>
</root/jdev/my Work/Application1/Project1/public_html/web-inf/>
when I tested the connection I do received:
"Unable to find driver:
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxxxxx Unable to find driver:
Obviously it can't locate the Micrososft JDBC driver but I can't
figure out why.
I tried all kind of things without any success. Is somebody can help
me and took me beyond this.
I m trying to build DataSource connection from JavaBeans.
Please make me out of this cave. I m not finding any of the way to do this.
The last code I tried is
try {
Class.forName("com.inet.pool.PoolDriver");
com.inet.tds.TdsDataSource tds = new com.inet.tds.TdsDataSource();
tds.setServerName( "local" );
tds.setDatabaseName( "bluff" );
tds.setUser( dbUserName );
tds.setPassword( dbPassword );
DataSource ds = tds;
Connection con = ds.getConnection(dbUserName,dbPassword);
Statement stmt;
ResultSet rs = null;
Thanks,

you are confusing me at least as your error is discussing the microsoft driver yet you are configuring the inet datasource.
I do not use JDeveloper, but you need to make sure that whatever is servicing your web app/JavaBean has access to the driver. Not sure why you are not doing a JNDI look up of the resoure, but because you are not you can stick the driver jar in the lib directory within the WAR bundle. I would suggest that you add the driver to the lib/ext or the lib directory which is loaded at boot time for your web container and then use JNDI to look up your DataSource to reduce your coding maintenance headaches.

• Unable to login into Essbase server

Hi all,
I have installed Shared services and Essbase, I did "Externalize Users" in Essbase. It happened successfully. My understanding on this Externalize user is
"Essbase runs in Shared Services mode and in this mode Essbase create, Edit User permission becomes obsolete. You must be an Essbase administrator to manage users, and you must additionally be a Shared Services administrator to manage users from Shared Services"
Is this correct please validate. If this is correct, then if you change the password in shared services and sync the native directory in shared services, Essbase should work with new password but this is not happening when i try to connect the Essbase server it is throwing the below error.
"Error: 1051293: Login fails due to invalid login credentials"
Is there any other activity that has to be done in this process. I dont have clear idea on this Externalize users can any one explain.
Can any one help me in this urgent issue.
Regards,
Ramachandran J

Hi All,
Thanks for the reply. I have few more doubts.
At the time of configuring the Shared services the default login will be admin and password. But when i configure the Essbase with Shared services in Configuration Utility i had given the different user name as "essadmin".
So i have followed the following steps to do Externalize users in Essbase:-
1. Just created the same "essadmin" user in shared services
2. Done externalize users in Administration services first inside Essbase console, while doing that i have given my own password.
3. Then went into the specific Essbase server and right clicked security and externalized users there, here also while doing that i have given my own password.
By doing this step externalize users worked successfully and i can sink the user with shared services.
Can you let me know whether the above steps are correct or any other procedure is available??
And i have one more doubt....
Once externalize users has been done, all the essbase sample database and Analytic services got migrated to Shared services. Then i have created new planning application which reflected in both essbase and shared services.
Then i loged into shared services and created a new user, then granted only one specific sample application and planning application to that user and sinc with database and also i loged into planning application and refreshed database.
Then i logged into essbase with the newely created username and password... but i noticed that there is no Essbase server available with the new user login. So i added the same essbase server with "external authentation" ticked.
Once this is done all the availble application appeared in his login, Here it has Not restricted only to the applicaiton which i have given access to that user, it is showing all the application and also allowing to edit the application.
I just want to restrict a particular application to one particular user to edit the outline in essbase and this has to be acheived by giving access restriction in shared services.... now i am unable to acheive the same. Can any one help me in doing so???

• Map linux shared folders to Z drive in Windows Client. Unable to login through Samba Server

Hi,
I am trying to map my linux machine to a network drive Z in Windows 7 . I added user guid in smbusers and created a password for this user through smbpasswd . Started Samba server on linuc, but when trying to create a network drive, it is asking for the login. I used credentials as GUID/<CREATEDPWD> . Not able to login with these credentials. Am I missing something. My Domain is ORADEV. I attached related files smb.conf,lmhosts,smbusers files. Please let me know if i am not configuring samba server correctly.

Hi,
To clarify a couple of things:
1- "reverse-route" does not have anything to do with this issue, the problem relies on the Windows 7 machine.
2- Do you connect with an Admin account (Windows admin)?
3- Do you run the VPN client as an administrator?
4- Have you tried to disable any AV or software protection on the machine (just for testing).?
Let me know.

• Error connecting to the BPEL server from JDeveloper

My student asks about an error she gets while trying to test a connection defined in JDeveloper to a mid-tier BPEL PM. She gets one error the first time the connection is tested, another at second and subsequent tests.
The following error I get only the first time I test connection:
org.apache.soap.SOAPException:Unsupported response content type "text/html", must be: "text/xml". Response was:

org.apache.soap.SOAPException:java.lang.NullPointerException at oracle.tip.pc.services.__TestConnectionStatelessWrapper.invokeMethod(__TestConnectionStatelessWrapper.java:146)

Hi,
Did you check whether Test Connection is giving success message from your JDeveloper ? if not then it will show you where exactly the problem is.
As at the end you are getting the error :- #### Invalid Oracle Home directory
so please check once again for your directory path (it could be case sensitive) where you are trying to deploy.
Thanks
