Unable to make new layers. . . Help needed

First of all, I know how to use Photoshop. I know how to lose layers and how to make new ones. Somehow my layers panel is not allowing me to create any new layers and I can't figure out why. The entire layers panel seems to be deactivated and I don't know how to fix it. If anyone can be of assistance, I'd very much appreciate it. I can provide screen shots if needed.

I am unable to make any layers on any of my pictures that I open in edit or create.... It says that I cannot make the layer because the layer is locked.. How do I unlock this so I can make layers?

I do it as a matter of routine for at least 3 reasons:
1. Some functions of the program don't work on a locked layer, requiring one to rename it or duplicate it in order to overcome this hurdle.
2. Should one want to start over again, one has at hand the original layer. Just delete the newly generated layer(s). Of course, one can arrive at the same point via the undo history palette.
3. One may want to interpose a new, blank layer, for one reason or another, in one's workflow between the background layer and the background copy layer, so here it is all set up to go.
If you think that this is pedagogically unsound, I shall respect that and refrain from inserting this step in subsequent advice.

I would trot back into the Apple store and have them fix the problem (or call Applecare with a warranty issue). There is no sense in you wasting your time trying to troubleshoot things on a new computer.

HT4009 unable to make in-app purchases need help

Trying to make a purchase in Clash of Clans. Had been able to now it has been a week and I am unable to.

New Phone, Help needed.. Unable to update... Please Help!!!

I just picked up a new Curve 9300 3g. I figured since OS6 is out for this model, i might as well update it to the new platform before I start using it. But I am stuck as the update does not seem to go through.
Here is what I did.
1) I installed BB desktop SW (ver 6.1.1.18). It detscts my phone, and is running fine.
2) I downloaded the Device SW(Starhub version) from the Site.
Software For BlackBerry® Curve™ 3G smartphone (model: 9300)
BlackBerry Handheld Software v6.0.0.1478 (Multilangauge)
Package Version: 6.0.0.1478
Consisting of:
Applications: 6.0.0.380

3) Installed the device on my PC.
4) Deleted the 'vendor.xml' file from program files/common files/RIM/apploader
5) Ran the 'loader.exe' in the same folder
After clicking next a couple of times I get an error "The BB desktop SW does not have BB device SW for the device that yo have connected to the computer... contact your.."
I am attaching a screenshot with the error. You can also see the apploader folder behind.
I have tried this in two machines one with XP and the other one with Win 7 on it.
Same result!!!
Please advice where am i going wrong.

Sadly, i dont have an answer for you, but thank you for posting this incredibly detailed post, because i have had the exact same problem.
i have gone through all the steps that you went through and came to the exact same result.
i was told from pretty well every source that what i did should of worked, so im just as lost as you are.
thankfully telus said on their offical twitter account that the 9300 will be getting an offical update by the first week of february at the latest

Dragging Channels To Layers Help Needed

Hi Folks,
I've been working with the tutorial link below to get rid of some stains, While I have no problem working directly on the channels, I'm lost as to what it means to drag the channels onto layers. I can't seem to find a reference as to how to do this. Most likely I don't have to correct term when I'm searching.
Any help or point to a reference would be a big help.

I think what he useallydoes is to drag the channel to the new channel icon in the bottom of the Channels palette. This creates a duplicate of the channel draged was a new alpha channel with the name Channel xxx copy. Then they would select that channel and work on it. When done they may replace the original channel with the worked on contents of the copy or blend it in some way.

Trouble with new G570 - help needed

Dear All,
I am a new, rather unhappy, customer of Lenovo UK as of this week, via a dealer called www.saveonlaptops.co.uk .
I'm terribly disappointed to have had such a bad experience...
I purchased a Lenovo G570 (product code M5143UK) from the above vendor on their website using my credit card on 17th July 2011...
I eagerly awaited delivery on 19th July 2011.
Unfortunately, upon setting up the laptop and switching it on, it became quite clear that there are hardware issues with the laptop.
It took me 3 hours to get the laptop working, after it repeatedly attempted to install/configure software and OS updates and repeatedly failed midway through often shutting down of its own accord too early to allow update to complete.
3 hours after, I had got it working, but immediately noticed how SLOW the laptop is...The 3 year old Dell laptop I sold last week ran much much faster than this Lenovo ever has.
The boot time averages over 2 minutes just to get to login screen, and applications are unacceptably slow loading/running.
I had spoken with Lenovo UK support whom suggested that it should run no slower with a retail version of Windows 7 64-bit OS on it, which at the consent of them, I duly installed. Unfortunately, a further 4 hours of waiting for repeatedly failing OS updates to install took place, before this version of Windows 7 (clean install) ran even worse than the original OS image.
Lenovo UK support have said that I need to return the laptop to the vendor to be assessed, but the vendor is currently refusing to accept any come back as such, and saying that due to the clean install carried out (at the consent of your support guys remember) that they will not return and swap for a brand new like-for-like laptop.
I have been assured previously by Lenovo that clearing a partition off of the HDD and applying a fresh install will not invalidate warranty...!!!!!!!!!
I have never received such poor service from a hardware vendor or a how manufacturer, especially seeing as I had fully researched the brand/model I was to purchase for weeks prior to final purchase.
I am writing to your goodself in the hope that you can arrange for a brand new laptop of the same spec to be sent to me, and arrange for the courier to collect the faulty one at the same time to stop me being without a laptop.
The vendor has been rude, unhelpful, dishonoring towards me and Lenovo and I wish I had not approached them to purchase this laptop. The price though was £80 odd cheaper than with Lenovo direct.
All I want is a non faulty laptop to last me 5 years before i change for a new Lenovo (if the service is good!) model.
You will find a copy odf my order attached.

It's regrettable to read about your experiences to date, obviously not an invigourating experience, reads very much like a pillar to post scenario
Firstly; a clean windows install does not invalidate the warranty regardless of what the reseller says. The warranty covers the hardware, unless explicity stated and purchased there is no warranty on software whatsoever.
IMHO your first point of contact should have been the retailer to ask if they were in a position to offer a possible solution. Should they then have at some point instructed you to contact Lenovo support you would be in a stronger position to argue that they should resolve the issue. Whatever, you did the right thing by contacting support. Did support issue you with a call number which you noted down and could share? Against the call number there will be notes logged by the service rep. and you could ask the retailer to call and validate the instructions you were given by support.
As this is a peer to peer forum, provided by Lenovo in order that members may seek assistance from others and share their experiences, there is a Lenovo presence which deals with some of the broader issues, it's not always possible for them to assist on all individual issues. Members will certainly be glad to and be able to assist you diagnose any possible hardware fault with the system which would then hopefully provide you with the facts you need to hopefully reach a speedy resolution.
You're probably pretty miffed at the moment and don't want to read the following, but it's meant well.
As a first step I'd like to suggest downloading the mediacreator from this site and use the media you create to test the system's hard drive, please let us know the results.

Problems with my new E5, help needed

I just got me a new E5 about a week ago. Despite reading a lot on this forum, I still have two major issues setting up this device; so I need some help. Problem number one is that I cannot set up my email. I have "aol" email that falls under "other" in the email set up section. Some of the screens listed in Pool of Knowledge subsection (like choosing POP3 or IMAP) does not even come up in my e5 during email setup screens. What to do to set up aol email account.
Problem number 2 is that I cannot transfer my contacts and other data from old device (Nokia X2-01) to the new e5. I paired them easily using Bluetooth but when it get to the point of transferring the data, I hear a "click" sound in the e5 and "Bluetooth disconnected.... " error message comes on. I have tried upteenth times but I get the same result. When I tried to transfer contacts one by one, using Bluetooth business card option it works; but I have over 800 contacts and I would like to use the switch route. What to do to solve this problem?. I hope I do not have a faulty device.

I can't help you with the contacts problem, but have you made any progress with email? Just because you pick the Other category, doesn't mean you need to enter every server detail. I use Earthlink email, but simply typing my email address causes the wizard to fill in every other detail besides my password. (Curiously, it always uses the wrong SMTP server.) But once setup finishes, I can change any of the settings. I hope that helps. (And BTW, the above may not apply if you opt for using Nokia's push service.)

Moving files into new folders (help needed)

in/with my program i need to move a file (mp3) from one folder into a new folder???

Sybase unable to make new mbo

Hello there,
I've been trying for a couple of days now to create a new mbo based on the bapi 'API_RE_RS_RESERVATION_CREATE', I always get the same error: 'Error occurred during exectuion, please check the default values of the selected input parameters and refresh again.' The reason is a java.lang.NullPointerException.
I even tried to fill in every default value I could and deleting them too...
This error always happens whenever one of the internal tables is selected as parameter..
why is it impossible to create this mbo ? And how can I create it without these errors ?

Hi,
I guess the issue is with the tables parameter you need to fill as default value. I never managed to fill tables parameter as default - I am only able to fill single value fields. Do you need tables param t do this? Are you able to build a wrapper to fill these fields?
If you create a Z - class and in there send the table parameters as usual values, it should work fine.

New computer, help needed!!!

Ive purchased a new computer and im running Windows 7 as i did on my old one. Ive installed iTunes but iTunes wont let me access my library. Ive tried syncing my iTouch but to no avail. Please can anyone help?

Why go to all that effort when you can simply copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer. Much simpler than downloading all the content again or extracting it from an iOS device.

Project Layering Help Needed

Hey everyone,
I'm in the process of updating my portfolio site using Flash Catlyst and am having some layering issues.
Under the 'Graphic' tab, I have the first two buttons set up how I want, but as you will see, the layering causes the buttons to appear in front of the image in the Toggle Button when selected. Not what I'm looking for. The first image is how I want it to appear when the image is enlarged, the secnd is the issue with the button showing in front of the image due to layering.
I've tried to combine the buttons as a custom/generic component, but the same problem still occurs.
Anyone have any suggestions or fixes for this?

Thanks for forwarding me the file. I found the issue. In the original design, you combined the thumbnail and the large version of the image into a single toggle button. This means that all of its elements existed in one layer. The result is the large image that you want to appear as an overlay can never be higher in the visual layering than the component. Hence the issue you were seeing.
You need to separate the thumbnail elements from the overlays in order for the layering to function properly. To work around the 20 page limit in Catalyst, I turned all the overlays into a custom component. The first page is blank, so it can be on the screen and have no affect on the thumbnail buttons.
I uploaded a demo of a solution for you.
