Unable to merge to panorama

Merge to Panorama no longer works in CS4.
I have reinstalled CS4 to no avail and am using the latest LR 3.6. OS is Win 7.
All works up until I get to the Merge window in CS4 where I can select any options and then select the "OK" button and nothing happens.
Anyone have any ideas please?

Problem solved.
CS4 doesn't recognise the RAW images from a Nikon D7000.
Expensive solution would be to upgrade to CS5
Cheap solution is to convert RAW files to DNG within Lightroom and then can merge to panorama. Thank you Adobe Support for your help.

  • Why is elements better at photomerge than CC- CC does not appear to automatically fill image based on content but elements does when merging a panorama. Also the stitching is visable in CC but almost perfect in elements- why?

I took 6 panorama shots of a scene and used CC to Photomerge them as one. Couldn't see where to automatic blend the edges and there was 'stitch' lines when the images were merged. So i did the same in Elements 11 and it was perfect. Am i doing something wrong in CC or perhaps not doing something at all?
    Any help, please?

Hi - Thanks for taking the time to reply and i appreciate the remarks- if a little harsh- we all have to start somewhere and i am fully aware of the limitations of Elements which is why i decided to add CC to my software. I can only say that if an inferior quality software from Adobe does the job well then CC must also be suited to doing the same which is why i can only think, from your comments, that i have not done something simple- however- following tutorials to get to the end result should have sufficed- it didn't so perhaps i will consider posting the difference between the two applications- and, perhaps suffer a few more 'harsh' comments. The learning curve is quite steep and i am a visual learner, but i'm also not totally incompetent:)
    Kind Regards

First a clarification: you are not addressing Adobe here in these user forums.  You are requesting help from volunteers users just like you who give their time free of charge. No one has any obligation to answer your questions.
I'll give it my best shot anyway.
Few folks in this forum are really familiar with Elements, for which there's a dedicated, totally separate forum.
    Different engineering teams, also.
From this perspective, it will be difficult to give you a direct answer to your "why?" question.
Personally, I blend very large panorama shots in Photoshop proper since I can't even remember when without any issues whatsoever, up to and including in Photoshop CS6 13.0.6.
Without being at your computer and without looking at your images, I couldn't even begin to speculate what you are doing wrong in Photoshop, which I suspect you are.  The least you could show is post examples from your panoramas that have gone wrong.
I can tell you that panorama stitching requires significant overlap between the individual shots, besides common-sdense techniques like a very solid tripod and precision heads.
The only version of Elements I have ever used for any significant time was Elements 6 for Windows, which I bought in 2008 to use on a PC (I've been an avid Mac user for 30 years).  I found Elements so limited and so bad that I successfully demanded a refund from Adobe.  IU mention this only to emphasize that I can truly only address your question from a Photoshop (proper) and Mac user point of view.  I couldn't care less about Elements, but if you have comparison examples of panoramas processed in both applications, by all means post those two.
Generally speaking Photoshop is a professional level application that makes no apologies for its very long and steep learning curve, while Photoshop has many hand-holding features for amateurs and beginners.
Perhaps the bottom line is that you should stick with Elements if you personally manage to get better results there.

  • I am unable to merge events running iPhoto '11 - 9.4.2 (710.42) and Mountain Lion, 10.8.2. All options on the events down menu are greyed out and I am therefore unable to merge any events. Is there a solution?

I am unable to merge events as all drop downs in the events selection in the tool bar are greyed out. Is there a solution?

    Thank you.
I tried to drag one event into another event but was unable to do so. The event that I tried to move into a second one would only move to another position in the event columnn, but it would not merge into another one.

  • Merge to Panorama in Photoshop not using edited RAW files

When I had LR4, I could Edit in > Merge to Panorama in PS and it would take the edited RAW files and merge them. Now in LR5 it seems to be taking the unedited RAW files and making the panorama. Is there a setting or something I'm missing in LR5?

Yes it is that simple. Just do a google search for Lightroom and Photoshop preference file locations and you should find them. The next time you start the programs, they will rebuild them. Of course, you'll have to re-enter any custom preference settings you've used. Good luck. Of course, when you think you've located them. Just rename them and move them into another folder first. That way, if you've picked the wrong file, you can easily move it back. Once things are working, you can just delete them.
BTW, this is a good troubleshooting tool for any mac applications that are acting wonky. Just delete that preference file, and more often than not, the problem will be fixed.

To be expected if you are working in a contemporary OS and contemporary MS Office suite.
The Acrobat 9.x product family passed into End of Support mid-year of 2013.
The product isn't compatible with contemporary OSs or Office suite.
You may have to step up into the Acrobat XI product family.

  • LR 2 Merge to Panorama in Photoshop fails at last moment

On both a Mac Pro and my (aging) Macbook Pro, I select several images in LR 2.5, right-click, choose Edit in>Merge to Panorama in Photoshop. Photoshop CS4 (11.0.1) launches, presents options (I choose Auto, sometimes with vignette mitigation, most without), and hit Enter.
Photoshop creates layers, successfully aligns layers, which I notice if I don't blink. Then the doc evaporates. Literally disappears. Same if I push the images (all DNGs) from Bridge. Same if I first export from LR as downsampled TIFFs at 8-bit/channel and push those from LR. same whether LR is launched in 32 or 64 bit mode. Killed prefs, repaired permissions, restarted box. Saved or unsaved metadata on files in LR.
Even with only LR and Photoshop running, 3GB ram on the MBP, tons on the Pro, OS 10.5.8. same result. Success if I Edit in>Open as Layers in Photoshop then use the more manual Edit>Auto Align then Auto Blend. It's something about the handoff.
read lots of variations of this issue in many forums but no solutions. Would be nice to have a real solution rather than the workaround above as I'm demonstrating this feature to many folks tomorrow.
    thanks,
    SL

sir plz help me..i want to make colag..i hv edited multiple images individually..but unable to merge these photos into one common window in order to make colage..rply please..

If you want to make the same type of collage using templates and scripts work very well Documentation and Examples

  • Unable to merge events in iPhoto

I am unable to merge two events in iPhoto 9.4.2.  When I select two events to merge and then go to the Event menu there is no "merge" option, not even a greyed out one.  When I try to drag one event on top of the other I can't.  Help menu says either of those approaches would work.  I see similar questions to this on the Discussion Forum, but none seem to resolved.

Give this basic troubleshooting fix a try:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Merge to panorama from Lightroom to PS CS6 "could not be started"

I'm sure someone else has had this issue - but I've been searching for two days without finding it! I use LR 5.6 (5.7 as of 1 hour ago). I have PS CS5.1. I've routinely merged to panorama from Lightroom with no issues using CS5. I can upgrade to CS6 for $200 and I was led to believe the camera raw was contemporary (rather than giving me the "export anyway" dialog), the merge algorithm was better and the content-aware fill had been improved. As this really the only thing I us PS for (mostly), I thought I'd try the trial version and see if I could evaluate side-by-side.
When I "merge to panorama" now in LR, CS6 opens, makes me click the obligatory trail dialog, then just sits there... Eventually, LR comes up with the error that CS6 could not be launched (even though it does launch). I tried opening the DNG files in bridge and I could merge them... Did not notice an improvement in the content-aware fill - but I'd like to merge the same series on my laptop (with CS5) and desktop (with CS6) and give it a fair comparison. What could I be doing wrong??? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry. Are you saying that resetting Preferences did not work, or that you don't want to try it?
Are you asking the same question in the Lightroom forum?
This link refers to Bridge, but it covers CC scripting problems.  I was going to ask if using CC 2013 helped, although I suspect that wherever you initiate the script from will default to the most recent version of Photoshop.  So you are probably going to need to uninstall and reinstall.

  • .cr2 Raws can't use "Merge to Panorama..."

Actually right clicking a .cr2 file and choosing "Edit in..." or "Merge to Panorama..."... or anything else that calls CS5 does nothing at all.  This function worked fine in v3 beta and in 2.7 (and still works in Bridge in various CS versions).  There must be some link between LR v3 and Photoshop CS5 that's broken.  Anyone know what to look for or where in order to fix this?  I'm on a Mac running 10.6.4.  Both Photoshop and LR are running as 64bit apps.  I also have the full CS3 and CS4 suites installed as well if that might be a problem (wasn't for the beta)
    Thanks,
    Bob Smith

I thought about that but was hoping not to do that... and go through considerable time to reconfigure lots of special prefs (all of which worked just fine with v3 beta).
I think I've found a simpler solution (and now don't think a re-install of Photoshop would have done it).
In poking around the contents of the LR3 package I see that virtually all of the scripts are set to be opened with Lightroom 2.  I still have Lightroom 2.7 on the computer.  I do a lot of work in a teaching environment where students are still working on 2.7.  I kind of hoped to keep both installed (again... that worked fine with the beta).  I could probably log in as root and reassign the default program for all of those scripts to Lightroom 3.  Instead I just trashed Lightroom 2.7.  So far all is well with the world again.  "Merge to Panorama..." works as it should with raw files again.
    Thanks!

  • Why does Merge to Panorama not allow rendering in Lightroom?

If I choose to Edit in Photoshop on one or more images, I get prompted that Camera Raw 7 may be needed for Photoshop to render the images correctly - which I understand as the versions of Camera Raw are different - and then get three options to choose from: Open Anyway, Render in Lightroom and Cancel.
However, if I choose Merge to Panorama the only options are Open Anyway and Cancel - I assume this is the same for Merge to HDR although I haven't tried it. So why can't Lightroom offer the same Render in Lightroom option when merging to panoramas? It's possible to work around it as I am currently doing, but it's a bit convoluted: Edit in Photoshop, Render in Lightroom, manually initiate Photomerge, save the resultant TIFF in the correct place, sync the folder to import it, then delete the original TIFFs Lightroom created that I didn't really want in the first place.
I'm assuming this is an oversight that will be corrected in the final version - would be nice to get that confirmed though!

I would guess that Render-in-Lightroom choice doesn’t apply when the number of input files (the RAWs in LR4) doesn’t match the number of output files from Photoshop (a single panorama or HDR file).
In the normal Edit In Photoshop situation the file you are rendering in LR on the way to Photoshop is what Photoshop is going to save to, so LR doesn’t need to delete any temporary files.  When you make a panorama or HDR there are intermediate files that would need to be cleaned up, and instead of being an oversight, maybe it is just LR trying to be simple about things.  Simple means that LR is not going to create and delete intermediate files for you along with not asking you how the temporary files should be named or where they should be created.  The lack of camera-raw would be a rare and usually transient condition so would be a low priority in the overall scheme of things to implement a solution for.

  • Merge to Panorama ... grayed out

After a reinstall of Windows 7-64 (to fix an unrelated issue) "Merge to Panorama" no longer works; its grayed out. It was working fine prior to the reinstall. I can Edit with "Photoshop Elements 6" from "Lightroom 2" (the same sw that worked earlier) but all the other selection under "Photo->Edit In" are grayed out.
I tried solutions that helped others in the forum but they didn't fix my problem. A registery path change didn't work, for that matter Lightroom can find Elements. I also changed the Bit Depth to 8 bits. I reinstalled Lightroom.
I tried photos that worked earlier with no sucess. I'm trying raw photos, same as when it worked.
When I re-installed Lightroom it was version 2.0. After an upgrade, it moved up to 2.7; neither worked. I don't know what verions it was at when it was working.

Do you have Photoshop installed? Merge to Panorama is an option only available with PS, not with PSE (and has always been).
To compose a Pano in PSE, you can do the following:
    Select several photos in LR
    Edit in Adobe Photoshop Elements
    In PSE, File/New/Photomerge Panorama
    Save Pano
    Close PSE
    Import saved Pano into LR
