Unable to migrate, import, sync bookmarks to 2nd Firefox on partition

Started with Mac OSX10.8. Added 10.6 partition.
When I opened the same Firefox in 10.6 partition, my bookmarks didn't show up but browser.
I downloaded a new firefox just for the 10.6 partition. I was not prompted to import my bookmarks, and I cannot figure out how to import them. I looked at the sync options on this firefox and it mirrors the first one...meaning it has my sync account already on it, and the 'sync now' option under tools, not 'set-up sync' and it does not provide the 12 digit key code.
If I could just import the bookmarks etc that I already have that would be something, but I can't find a menu option for that. I wasn't given the option upon start up.
If I have to start clean and reinstall 10.6 first, I will. I just need to know what I can expect to work wit a partition. I haven't been able to find mac specific info in any forum.
Probably even more problematic, each time I open firefox, it prompts me to download yet another firefox download disk image???

Also, I would love to know where the firefox bookmark folder is in 10.8. It doesn't come up in search. I can't find the path.
I do know that in 10.6 the bookmarks are here:
Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/<randomname>.default
(found them...they are hidden lol)

Media Player 11/empty PC Library/unable to transfer, import, sync - Micro Photo proble

I've just received a new computer and had to download my Micro software all over again - Media Source 5, burner, playsforsure. Running WMP . Windows XP Professional with SP 2. ?My problem -- my PC Library is empty. I can't seem to get the music from my mp3 to PC Library - by importing, transferring or syncing!? I have changed my settings in Sync Mgr to PC Library but cannot change the arrow to go right to left (ie - from my player to PC Library). What do I do? I've tried dragging music and playlists over from player to PC Library when in Organizer, but it won't let me (but it did before). Do I need to roll back to WMP 0? I didn't have any problems when using that on my old computer. If so, how do I do it's? My player is recognised, no problems with the firmware. No problems with the software either, as far as I can tell, other than having an empty PC Library and not being able to transfer music over from my player. Any suggestions?

i see a lot of threads about charging the battery.
i sell high end digital cameras, have for 6 years now. i'm not talking the stuff you find at fry's but the really high end stuff.
this stuff also uses proprietary lithium ion batteries (actually the only thing proprietary is the connectors, all cells come from the same manufacturers)
the key to lithium ion batteries is:
) let it charge overnight the first time you charge it
2) it takes about 3 full charges and full drains to get the proper life out of it
3) they dont have memory, ever. i have several abused lithium ion camera batteries that can attest to this
4) replace after 8 months without fail
my point is, don't stress over it. my micro only got about 7 hours of continous playback with eq on and it just sitting there, and not much more with eq off. the player's life on a single charge and constant crashing when switching off are the only reasons why i returned it on sunday for an ipod mini.

Migrate/import (?) bookmarks from iBook to new iMac?

Is there some way to move my bookmarks from my old iBook to my new iMac? I ran the Migratiion Assistant, but that doesn't seem to have done the trick.

If you're using Safari, go to File/Export Bookmarks... and save the file. Then, copy the file over to your new Mac, and use the File/Import Bookmarks... option.
You can clean up the mix of old/new Bookmarks by clicking on the Bookmark icon at the left end of your Bookmarks bar.
You should be able to use Target FireWire Mode (hold down T while booting your old Mac, connect to new Mac with FIreWire cable) to mount the old Mac on you new Mac's Desktop, then copy the file to your new Mac. Or,
Using a USB 2.0 Flash Drive to copy the file to the stick, plug it into your new Mac, copy the file from the flash drive, and again import it into Safari.

How do I import the bookmarks from the Firefox browser on my old computer to Firefox on my new computer?

I had to wipe my old Windows operating system from my hard drive, and I've installed Linux instead. I did not physically back up my bookmarks before wiping, but I am hoping that they will be preserved somewhere with Mozilla's cloud storage. I would like at the very least to be able to import them to the Firefox browser on my Linux system, or, better yet, to import them to Google Chrome. Are either of these possible? Essentially, I'm wondering if these bookmarks have been saved by Mozilla externally, and if so, how do I retrieve them? Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

You might have saved your bookmarks to the cloud if you set up Firefox Sync. In order to access your Firefox Sync account, you usually either need another device already set up to access your Sync account or a "recovery key" that is displayed on screen during account setup. Does any of that sound familiar?
If not, did you back up any of your hard drive before wiping? In particular, your Firefox data is stored in your user profile folder. Depending on your version of Windows:
C:\Documents and Settings\''username''\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox...<br>
C:\Users\''username''\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox...

How do you import Maxthon bookmark folders into Firefox (without doing each .url individually)?

Hi, I am trying to import all my bookmarks from Maxthon into Firefox,. Problem is all my bookmarks are in folders, but Firefox Import will only let me do one bookmark at a time. Is there any way to import all folders at one time or at least folder by folder? Thank you very much if you can help.

The Maxthon support site mentions using "Favorites > More Actions > Export Favorites" to export the favorites. If that does not export all of the favorites then I can not help. You could ask on the Maxthon support site about how to export all of the favorites to an HTML file.

I can't import my bookmarks on Chrome to Firefox even after I followed the Firefox guide on how to do this.

Just figured out by accident how to change the .html file back to a .json file. Wherever the file is on your computer, open a CMD or DOS window up. If the file name is something like "bookmarks-2011-07-15.json.html" you can rename it using CMD, but it wont work in windows. Use these commands without the quotation marks.
"rename *.json.html *.json"
Their is one space between the l and *, "rename *.json.html(space)*.json"
That should effectively get rid of the .html at the end of the file. You should also see the file has the same icon it once had before having .html put on the end of it and it taking the icon of whatever web browser you are using. In Windows, not CMD, you might have to right click on the file and rename it again to get rid of the .json if it is showing, doing so wont affect the file anyway negatively. After it's renamed you can close the CMD window.
Now you should be able to import your bookmarks using the Firefox's "Imports and Backup > Restore > Choose File" menu and would you look at that, theirs your bookmarks.
Hope this helps even though it's now two plus months since first post.

I can't import bookmarks (from Firefox) or Sync bookmarks using sync

I'm on a mac desktop and running Firefox 21. I want to import the bookmarks from my laptop and so I have tried the following without any success.:
1. Saving Firefox Bookmarks as a HTML file and using Import Bookmarks feature in 'show all bookmarks'
2. Use sync to sync both machines.
On each occasion, using both methods, I can see the bookmark structure but only the folders seem to be imported and when I hover over the folder the message 'empty' is displayed.
I'm not sure what else I can do but it seems that Firefox will not actually import its own exported files from and identical version of Firefox: 21.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

My laptop crashed and now I want to import all my synced bookmarks on my tablet to my new laptop.

My android tablet have all my old desktop bookmarks and I want to synd them (export them) to my new computer. I understand I need the recovery key, but I dont have it saved and onviously cant get it out of my old computer. about:synckey isn't working on my tablet, it says it won't install since the addon is not working on my version 18 firefox. There was a modified about:synckey supposedly working for firefox 17, but with the file ending ipx I'm not sure how to get it to work.
I've also tried exporting the bookmarks to an html file. However, one app took the bookmarks from the standard web browser, another one exported only the history.
Is there someway to get the desktop bookmarks to synd with my new computer? Either to get the recovery key or managing to export the bookmarks?

Try to create a new profile folder on the desktop computer and setup sync on that computer to retrieve the bookmarks.

Unable to import IE9 Bookmarks to Firefox

OS: Windows 7
From: IE9 Browser
To: Firefox (ver. 14.0.1)
When I attempt to Import Favorites from IE9, only a few folders and URLs are imported (maybe 200 out of 1000) to Firefox bookmarks. Is there a limit on this procedure? Also, I have about 4 levels deep of folders in my Favorites. Could this be a problem?
I appreciate any suggestions.

If you have problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.

Unable to locate imported bookmarks

I recently downloaded Foxire and made it my default browser.
I also have Internet Explorer. I imported my favorite bookmarks as instructed. Now I cannot find them. I went to the Foxire Bookmarks and under all bookmarks.. There is nothing there. Yet it does not allow me to import from another browser again. help....
Also I tried to run Internet Explorer in sandbox and Mozilla won't allow --- need help with that too...........

You can usually find the imported IE Favorites in a folder ("From Internet Explorer") at the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu folder (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks).
If you can't find them in the folder ("From Internet Explorer") or otherwise have problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.<br />
That way you also preserve any sorting that you may have done in IE with the Favorites.

Syncing Bookmarks Problem

I have an iPad Air 7.1.2 and a Macbook Air 10.9.3 running iTunes 11.2.2. I am unable to sync my bookmarks between them. When i open iTunes > Info, there is no option to manually sync bookmarks. We have to sync via iTunes since iCloud is blocked at work.

Currently there is not a way to sync bookmarks through iTunes on OS X Mavericks. What you can do is export the bookmarks and then email the html to yourself. Open the email on your iPad and then click each link and then go through the steps to adding a bookmark on your iPad.

How to migrate old Sync (Weave) account/login to the new Sync service?

I tried to enter the u/n + pwd that's always worked, but it says I must use an email address.
No idea what email address is associated with my account...
But when I was logged into the old sync site above, I noticed it said: "Welcome, email address (Sign out)".
So I tried that email address + my password on the new site, but still it didn't work.
Where to from here?
N.B. as far as I can tell Sync is still working fine within FF 30 itself (OS X).

yes, there's no migration path, the new account system also doesn't come with a local recovery key but only uses email & your chosen password to grant access - you could delete the old account and start with a new one.
since the purpose of sync already is merging all the changes from other devices into your local firefox profile it really won't make much difference if you obliterate the old account. all the important synced data is already stored locally in your profile and will be transferred to the new account this way...

I am unable to copy or Sync songs from my iTunes library to my iPhone

Connect your phone to itunes as you have been doing.
In the sidebar, select you phone and then on the main part of the iTunes window, select Music.
Check the Sync Music box and then you can either sync all music, or select the tracks/albums/artists/genres as you wish.
Once selected, at the bottom right on the maon iTunes window, select Sync.
Music will now be copied to you phone.

Unable to drag imported CD tracks to a playlist.

You can only sync/manually manage with one computer at a time.
You need to sync the iphone to the new computer ( erasing the current content from the iphone) and replacing content with the new computer.
Make sure you copy everything from the backup copy of your old computer to the new one.
