Unable to minimize windows or view more than one window

I had a MacBook Pro prior to the MacBook 2015. I never had a problem minimizing windows. I really need to have more than one window open at same time, but I can't seem to do this with MacBook. There usually is a white dot in middle where it was yellow in MacBook Pro to minimize the window. There is an icon with double page symbol I can click in the right corner, but when it shows a thumbnail image of each website on one page instead of minimizing the window when I click on it. Is there something I can click on to minimize the window so more than one window appears at the same time? I do not even see line/arrow appear in corners of window to drag the window to a smaller size.

I do not even see line/arrow appear in corners of window to drag the window to a smaller size.
Just put your cursor on any edge or corner of a window until you see the double arrows then click and hold while you drag to resize. This is no different than it's been for the last 4 years since the introduction of Lion.

The yellow dot will minimize the window to the Dock.

In Yosemite, a click on the the Green dot goes to full screen, an Option click is like the prior green dot's performance.

  • Using numbers 2.3 how do i split windows to view more than 1 spreadsheet at a time?

using numbers 2.3 how do i split windows to view more than 1 spreadsheet at a time?

    Hi seth,
    Numbers vocabulary:
    Spreadsheets (aka: Document)
    contain one or more Sheets
on each of which may be placed one or more Tables
each of which contains one or more cells
each of which may contain either data or a formula.
Spreadsheets open in separate windows. Depending on the contents of each spreadsheet, and the scale at which you want to see it (and the size of your display), you can view more than one spreadsheet in the same manner as you can view more than one of any kind of document—open two documents in separate windows. Resize the windows to allow both to be viewed at the same time. Place and scale the individual documents to permit viewing the desired part of each
Sheets within the same document cannot be displayed simultaneously. You can make and open a copy of the document, then open and view both copies as described above, but this introduces new opportunities to edit the wrong copy. You could Copy a Table from one part of the document, open Preview and go File > New from Clipboard to create a PDF copy of that table (readable, but not editable), and view the spreadsheet and pdf documents as described above.
Tables can be rearranged, or have rows or columns (or both) hidden to permit simultaneous viewing of selected parts of both.
A Table can have Table > Freeze Header Rows and Table > Freeze Header Columns set to keep these rows/columns visible as the rest of the table is scrolled. Or can have a range of rows (or columns) hidden to allow viewing of rows (columns) adjacent to that range visible on the same screen.
Numbers does not support freezing of rows or columns other than Header rows and Header Columns.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • When in safari how can i have more than one window open?? New ios doesnt allow it.

Problem is when i updated to the newest ios 7. The dang thing doesnt allow me to have more than one window open at any time. This only makes things repetitive, complicated and slow. Moreover, the icons and overall view are probably designed to be in a kindergarden game, cos they look really stupid on iPad, whos gonna take apple seriously with this so called "improvements". If anyone knows how to open more than one window at at atime i,ll be really grateful to be told. Or if anyone can tell me how to uninstall the friking update i,ll be even more grateful. Thanx guys.

  • Firefox won't let me open more than one window at a time. how do i fix the problem

Firefox won't let me open more than one window at a time. It use to allow me to open multiple windows before but for no apparent reason it stopped. I uninstalled it and re-installed but I'm having the same problem. How do I fix the problem

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")

  • Cannot open more than one window with Firefox

I've been having this problem for a couple of weeks, now, and I've run out of ways to try and fix this.
One day, after starting my computer up, I opened Firefox. No big deal, everything looks fine, tabs are working, etc. Then, when I went to open a second window, nothing. The first window still works fine, I can open tab upon tab, but it just won't open any more windows.
As much as I'm a fan of the browser tabs, I still prefer to have them spread out over more than one window.
I've read through a ton of different troubleshooting walkthroughs and whatnot, reinstalled three or four times, restored settings, but nothing works.
Well, not entirely, I guess. Here's the part that I can't quite figure out. When I disable every single addon, Firefox works just fine. I've done the checking down the list, trying to single one out, but it's *any* addon. Even something as simple as a dictionary search ([https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/68/]) causes this to happen.
I've checked with an older computer with an older version of Firefox, and it still seems to work fine with addons enabled, so I'm wondering if this is an update issue?
Would reverting back to a previous version of Firefox solve this, and if so, where would I be able to find downloads for a previous version?
So, like I said, I'm at a bit of a loss here. Sort of at a crossroads for trying to figure out what to try next, so I'm hoping someone a bit more knowledgeable can help steer me in a direction.
Edit: I just noticed that the posting includes system information with my question. I should clarify that I'm posting this from an older computer with an older version of Firefox. On the computer that I'm having this issue with, I'm using the newest version of Firefox (3.6.8).

Some old posts indicate the following add-ons have caused the problem of not being able to open a new window in Firefox in the past. If you have any of them you might want to disable or uninstall them to see if that is causing your problem.<br />

You need to update your plug-ins. It is important to keep them updated due to continuing security fixes and improvements in those plug-ins:
    * Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 11.5 (you '''<u>may</u>''' need to update)
    * Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32

You are using an out-of-date version of Firefox. Unless you have a reason for using that old version, you might want to consider upgrading.
*The Firefox version series 3.0.x is no longer being supported or updated, even for security issues.
*The last version in the 3.0.x series was 3.0.19 which was released 03/15/2010.
*You are using version 3.0.13 which was released 07/31/2009.
Consider upgrading to the current version, Firefox 3.6.8. Firefox 3.6.9 is scheduled to be released in a few days and the new Firefox 4 will be released later this year or early next year.

  • How do I create more than one "window"?

    Hi.
I just started with JavaFX and know about the basics (at least I thought so).
But: How do I create an application with more than one "window"?
One stage has one scene with several components like buttons - ok... I already have a stage with a scene with buttons and actions - Now I want to click one of these buttons and then get to another stage (or scene or whatever) where I see some other textfield and buttons.
How do I realize this with JavaFX? I did not find anyone example in the web? What am I missing? Do you not create this flow with JavaFX?
Please can someone explain this to me (and if possible post a link where I can some code where this is implemented)?
    Thanks a lot...

Recent thread: [Multiple stages app dev|http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5405420]
Other threads... well, hard to find back, I reckon.
    Simple example:
        // Some control/shape
          Circle
            centerX: 15
            centerY: 15
            radius: 10
            fill: Color.LAVENDER
            stroke: Color.PURPLE
            onMouseClicked: ShowDialog
          }and elsewhere:function ShowDialog(evt: MouseEvent): Void
      println("Circle pressed");
      var dialog: Stage = Stage
        title: "A Dialog"
        visible: true
        scene: Scene
          width: 300
          height: 50
          content:
            Text
              x: 5, y: 5
              font: Font { size: 24 }
content: "I am a secondary window"
              textOrigin: TextOrigin.TOP
}Apparently, you just have to create an instance of Stage to have it to appear.

  • Firefox will not open more than one window and upon restarting will not open the previous tab and refuses to open bookmarks

Firefox does not open more than one window. I can open plenty of tabs, but not more than one window. Upon closing firefox and trying to restart the browser will not open and needs to be closed through windows task manager. Upon trying to re-open Firefox I receive the 'oops this is embarassing , firefox cannot re-open your tabs" message. When I click on "new session" the bookmarks do not load. It is becoming very frustrating as I am a student and often do lots of research on the web while using lots of open windows.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Please help cannot open more than one window at a time.

Everything was working well but this morning I could not have more than one window (application or folder) open at a time.
As soon as I open one, the previously oppened one closes.
I tried restoring from Time Machine and also Lion altogether but this behaviour did not change.
I posted in the Imac forum as well but maybe this forum is more appropiate.
    Thank you.

Another possiblity is that "Single Application Mode" has been set.  This would be unusual as it normally takes a terminal command to set it.  You can check by downloading the program TinkerTool from this site:
    http://www.bresink.com/osx/0TinkerTool/download.php5
It's free and doesn't modify your system, just turns on or off the hidden options that are already there.  Run it and look in the Dock tab and see if this option is checked.  If so, uncheck it and click the relaunch dock button.

With mozilla 4 I have more than one window open and my memory which has 2 gigs in it starts to drain and then everything freezes.

Which Windows platform shouldn't make much difference. The screenshot may look as coming from an older Windows version, but the basics should be the same.

I cannot open Firefox in more than one window. I deleted and reinstalled the latest version but this did not help. I was able to open Firefox in multiple windows prior to installing an update of Avast. Don't think it should have an effect on Firefox.

  • Multiple addons will not work, firefox will not open more than one window

Here's the problem: when certain addons (such as Morning Coffee, Fire.fm, Thumbstrips, Colourzilla, and others) are enabled on my firefox, it won't open more than one window. Additionally, some of these won't work at all (the first three listed). I know similar questions have been asked before, and the answer given was to disable the add-ons in question. However, I would love to actually be able to *use* them.
Anyone know how I might be able to fix things so that the addons work, and firefox isn't disabled in any way?

  • View more than one table in SD3 simultaneously

Is there a way to 'view' more than one table at a time in SQL Developer 3? Currently, if I have a tab open that shows contents of a table, and I double-click on another table I want to look at, the previous table view closes, and a new one reopens. I'm looking for a way to keep two such views open at the same time.

  • View more than one audio instrument midi window at same time Logic 7

    Hello,
Is it possible to open up more than one audio inst midi window at the same time?
It would save me so much time if I could view what is going on ie on the guitar & piano tracks on 2 separate tracks at the same time.
I know it is possible to double click on the grid of an audio inst midi window to view all midi in one song at the same time but because I have a lot of audio insts in my songs it gets really confusing. It would be ideal if I could pick and choose specifically which audio inst tracks are displayed within the same window when doing the double click thing or be able to view 2 tracks at once.
    Thanks in advance.

Are you refering on how to be able to view the Matrix Editor/Piano roll of 2 Audio instrument tracks in one window?

  • How to view more than one file at a time in CS4?

With OS 10.5, and a brand new CS4 Photoshop, I can open many Photoshop files at a time, but can only view one at a time. Must choose one at a time from the "tab". I need to have more than one picture open and showing at a time to work on them. How can I do that? What have I missed? Who can help? Thanks!

"Here's the smart way for all of you on macs. Set up Exposé and a keystroke for 'Application windows'. Then with the press of a single key you can visualize, and swap between documents very easily. By I single keystroke I mean something like Right Control.
Tabbed documents have hardly any genuine advantages for mac users, yet another example of interface decisions in the stupid direction."
This is what I've been saying since I first saw the tabbed view in the new CS4.  On the Mac, tabbed view is a big step backwards as it actually breaks the superior Expose' method of viewing multiple windows and also switching among them.  I would also add that Control/Tab for non-tabbed windows is actually slightly faster than when they are tabbed.  So for the mac, I only needed a minute to decide that the tabbed view was merely change for the sake of change.  There are also operations that I do where I have to recreate a piece of art to match an existing piece.  In those situations I always have the original right next to the the new image.  Tabbed view destroys this as well.  So I don't use it.
For the PC, tabbed views is possibly a tiny step forward, but it's such a small step that I'm not sure if I prefer to use tabs, or have that small amount of screen space that the tabs use.  There was no previously existing "good" method of viewing and moving among multiple windows of a single application on the PC and therefore, tabs might be a small improvement.  Unfortunately though it does seem that in order to bring us tabbed views in CS4, Adobe had to slightly 'break' the regular floating windows view.  On the PC the documents will actually float above the toolbars, palettes, etc making it very difficult to use if not impossible.  So, if you don't like using tabs, then you are really gonna suffer with non-tabbed view or suffer with the tabbed view.  On the Mac, it's the opposite problem.  Documents actually float up and underneath the top toolbar, covering the "close, maximize, minimize" buttons.  Generally I would say that Adobe has created a mess when the best solution was obvious.  Adobe should have copied the expose' method for it's CS4 suite.  Hopefully they will have enough feedback with CS4 to see the light and change it for CS5.  I see that Microsoft has mouse software that has already done just that on the PC, and there are a handful of independent efforts attempting to come up with something like expose' but generally with far less elegant and less "perfect" results.
