Unable to modify any documents from sharepoint

We are using Office 2007 and WSS3.0 whenever I try to open a document from sharepoint I get the following error as shown in the image.
Link to access the image:
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/148/officesharepointerror.jpg/
I can upload documents to sharepoint but cannot edit them.
I have repaired and reinstalled Office 2007 to no avail. I am not a Sharepoint admin so I cannot perform any administrative changes to the Sharepoint site. I have a contributor role to the Sharepoint site.
Can anyone help?

Hi,
Not exactly the same error we had here, but users were able to upload docs, but not edit. Re-ran the webfldrs.msi and it fixed the issue. If your error is affecting everyone, then this may not be your fix.
Unable to edit Documents in SharePoint
Error
User get s the following error message
“a problem occurred while connecting to the server” if the problem continues, contact your administrator
Solution
Well it worked today for Jo Mallett, when all the windows updates, profile rebuilds and office installs didn’t, and this fix took no more than about 1 minute to implement.
It is not uncommon for the web folders / WebDAV support in Windows XP to just stop working for no apparent reason.
You can usually reinstall the original Web Folders support by finding and executing
webfldrs.msi with specific options.
webfldrs.msi is probably in one of your system directories. It is easiest to search for it (remember to set advanced search options to include system and hidden folders). When you find the program (it’s a normal Microsoft install package) launch it, then
do these steps:
Click “Select Reinstall Mode”
Uncheck “Repair all detected reinstall problems”.
Check “Force all files to be reinstalled, regardless of checksum or version”.
Check “Verify that required user registry entries are present”.
Check “Verify that required machine registry entries are present”.
Check “Validate shortcuts”.
Press OK
Click REINSTALL
Normally no reboot is required.
Now the web folder client should have been restored as it was shipped.
If you previously installed Software Update for Web Folders (KB907306) from the Microsoft site, you may have to install it again.

  • Unable to modify any document through Cisco Edge WAE

    Hi @ll
I'm having problems modifying documents (MS Office files) through my Cisco Edge WAE and I don't know if it's a problem in the cache or where the problem may be so I hope any of you have had this problem before to help me out finding a solution.
    This is the scenario:
My Cisco Edge WAE is running the version 4.0.19.b14. For the moment I'm not using WCCP (to be implemented in the near future). The device is registered with the CM with Edge and print services enabled.I have the file server exported and pointing to my NAS server (apparently, all these steps have been well configured).
Lets say the NAS server is called NAS01 and I have the connectivity created call ESM exported to my NAS01 file server with the alias NASFS01 and the edge device assigned to this connection. All seems to be correct, in fact, if I type the Alias NASFS01, I can reach the server with no problem and create an excel document for example but when I try to open the same file and get it modified and I got the message that I don't have enough rights to do it, strange because if I have a look at the permissions of the folder (NAS01) I can see myself with full permissions.
I tried to get access and do the same in other WAAS out of my region, and it worked perfectly with the same access.
The only thing I saw was when I type #sh disk details:
The part in bold sounds starge to me...

  • Unable to edit document from SharePoint 2007 using Office 2013 and IE 11

I am getting the following error when I try to edit a document from SharePoint 2007: "Edit document
requires a Windows Sharepoint services-compatible application and Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater". I am using Windows 7 with Office 2013 and Internet Explorer 11. Troubleshooting steps that I've tried so far (that haven't worked) are as follows:
    1) repaired Office; 2) switched from 64 bit version of IE to 32 bit version; 3) moved the owssupp.dll from C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\ to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15; 4) tried removing old versions of Office (but
I still need to use Office Communicator 2007 r2 and couldn't figure out how to get rid of the Office14 files from Program Files); and 5) running SharePoint in IE compatibility mode. Please advise...thanks!

    Hi,
It seems you installed mixed version Office2007/2010/2013 on your client machine?
I would suggest you remove all Office 2007 and 2010 version, and reinstall Office 2013(include Office Tools->Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Support component) on your machine, and make sure "Open SharePointDocuments class" add-on is enabled
from IE11, then check if it could fix the issue.
If above works, please test again after installing the Office Communicator 2007 r2 on your machine.

  • Not able to open office documents from SharePoint site using Forms auth on a Mac with Office 2011

I posted the same question on the Mac Office forum (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac/forum/macoffice2011-macstart/not-able-to-open-office-documents-from-sharepoint/7fba517b-ebd1-4e90-a54a-c70c5f035146?tm=1418836613595) but figured it's probably more
of a SharePoint question so I'm going to try here as well.
We just discovered an issue where a user logs into a SharePoint site using Forms based authentication.  When clicking on an Office file they get
'Sorry, this site hasn't been shared with you' message:
The user can download the file and can also open the file within the browser (Office Web apps).  This SharePoint site is on a Web app that uses mixed authentication (forms for external partners) and Windows/Kerberos for internal employees.
When logging into this same site as an internal user I am able to open the file just fine.
I checked the 'Microsoft Document Connection' settings and selected and deselected 'Enable Basic Authentication' and neither helped.
I also tried to add the site URL under 'Microsoft Document Connection' -> Add connection -> Connect to a SharePoint site.  When I put the site URL in and click 'Connect', I get an error saying that 'Only connection to SharePoint or OneDrive
servers are supported' message.  If I try the same thing as an internal user using Windows/Kerberos authentication I am able to connect to the site just fine.
    Any ideas??

    Hi Szamir,
As you are using Form Based authentication to open the documents from SharePoint site, I recommend to check the things below:
Make sure that the user has permission to view the documents in the site.
Please select "Sign me in automatically" when you sign in the login page.

  • Some RDS users cannot open documents from SharePoint

    Hi,
I'm running into a weird problem in our demo environment. All demo users log on to a Windows 2012R2 RDS server and access SharePoint using Internet Explorer 11.
Some (not all) users are able to open Word documents just fine. Those users that have the problem, are unable to open any document by clicking it. They have to right click the document, and open it by choosing any of the open-options in the context menu.
If I set the document mode to IE9 using the developer toolbar, Word documents open just fine. The browser is configured to open sites in the intranet zone using the compatibility view for all users.
Has anyone seen this behavior before?

  • Word 2013 slow to open documents from SharePoint 2013

    Hi all,
Word 2013 running on a Windows 8.1 client is take 2 or more minutes to open a document from SharePoint 2013. Excel takes less then 10 seconds from the same site in SharePoint.
I have remove all proxy configuration from IE, clear the Auto Detect Settings. Added the URL's to the intranet zone and disabled all IE addons. I have also performed a reset on IE, reinstall of Office and tried a number of workstations. All have the same
issue. The document just take forever to open.
Checking with Fiddler, I can see 3 requests hit the SharePoint server then nothing... after a few minutes the document opens.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers
    Craig

    Hi Craig,
For troubleshooting your issue, please take steps as below:
1.Open IE, go to "Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan Settings" and uncheck "Auto Detect Proxy".
2.From the File tab in Word application, select Options and then click on Advanced and then in the Display section of the dialog, check the box for
    Disable hardware graphics acceleration.
3.Edit the registry at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Word.Document.12\shell\Open and deleting the ddeexec key.

  • Word Viewer will not open documents from Sharepoint 2013 in IE11

I've run into an issue while trying to open documents from SharePoint 2013 after upgrading to IE11. My organization uses Word Viewer with the compatibility pack and all other Word documents (local files, intranet hosted) will open with no problems. When
trying to open a Word document from SharePoint the Word Viewer will open, but the file does not. We have verified that all Windows Updates are installed. We have tried opening SharePoint in Compatibility View and Enterprise Mode. We have re-downloaded the
latest version of Word Viewer and reinstalled it along with the compatibility pack. If we open the SharePoint site in Explorer view and then open a Word document it will open in Word Viewer with no problem. Excel and PowerPoint documents open from SharePoint
with no problem. This is only affecting Word documents with Word Viewer. When using the full version of Word the documents open fine. Within SharePoint we have tried activating the site collection feature "Open Document In Client Applications by Default"
but it made no difference. We're completely at a loss how to make this work as there doesn't seem to be much information specifically pertaining to issues with Word Viewer.

    Hi Victoria.
    1. The PCs do not have Microsoft Office installed, nor are we using the Office Web Apps. "Word Viewer" means the Microsoft Word Viewer application available here (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=4) that is available
free for read-only viewing of Word documents.
    2. There are no errors when I open Word docs in Word Viewer. The Word Viewer application launches after clicking a Word document link in Sharepoint, but there is no file open in it. When that happens the IE11 Sharepoint window on the taskbar is flashing
yellow, but when I click back to it there are no messages or alerts to click on.
    3. This issue does occur with all Word documents (.doc, .docx) in SharePoint. However, it does not occur when opening Word documents in the Word Viewer when they are local files or through IE11 from a non-SharePoint website like our local intranet.
Those files will open with no problem in Word Viewer.
    4. I will try to get a screenshot, but we are working on creating images for deployment and I don't currently have a machine configured the same way. I'll work on reconfiguring one and post a screenshot.
    Thank you for your help!

Click on it, choose Get Info from the File menu, and check the format.
If it's formatted as NTFS, reformat it as MS-DOS, exFAT, or Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as desired, or install software such as Paragon NTFS on the computer.
If it's formatted as FAT32 or exFAT, use the Disk Utility's Repair Disk command on it; this may also happen for a flash drive which is about to fail.
If it's formatted as Mac OS Extended, click Authenticate and provide your administrator password, or change the permissions on that specific folder in its Get Info window.

    Hi Rama,
"The communication object, System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel, cannot be used for communication because it is in the Faulted state.".”
This is quite unhelpful because it does not give a clue of what is going wrong. You get this error because a .NET exception happens on the server side (SharePoint), and nothing catches and handles it. The solution is to check your settings.
The problem could be with the password of the SharePoint Online Username that is set wrong in the BizTalk adapter.

hi, you can find the user details inside UserInfo Table in content database. But i would suggest not to directly query the content databse not even for select as it will affect the indexes.

I just received this message: "*** Collection <__NSArrayM: 0x610004449540> was mutated while being enumerated."  and it won't allow me to open or place any documents FROM photoshop but I can open files from finder into photoshop. HELP! I just recently got a new iMac and have faced this problem before, we thought it was a permissions error from where we rebooted the computer from. Because of this we just wiped the computer and recently re-installed everything. Now 2 days after re-installing all programs including photoshop I'm receiving these errors. Why is this happening and how can I fix it!?

ok, i've just run a specific test.
1 - Online, ensure that mail is sync'd
2 - Disable network connection, confirm that mail has moved to offline mode
    3 - Delete 20 messages in a folder
4 - Conifm they have been deleted (whilst still offline)
5 - Re-enable network connection, leave machine alone for 5 minutes
6 - Confirm that messages haven't been deleted and are still in the folder untouched
7 - Whilst still online, try to delete one or more of the messages, they vanish for a moment, then re-appear
    8 - ***
Can replicate this at will......surely this isn't just me?
Seems I'm back to Outlook again
