  • I was in Country Genre and after trying to update album names and artist iTunes changed A LOT of the albums and artist names in that genre to the same one! How Do I make everything go back to normal?

    Take My Nashille Album, Which had the right Album name and right artitsts is now "American Ride" By Tobey Keith!!! And there are many more like that!

    Backup with this User Tip, restore the library to the new computer using the same tool, keep the backup up-to-date in future. Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer need to access protected content on it.
    As to your issues with compilations albums select all the tracks, set the Album Artist to Various Artists and on the options tab set Part of a compilation to Yes. See Grouping tracks into albums for details.

  • Is there any possible way to set your itunes to just show the album name without the songs included in the album in artist view. and then be able to select the album to expand all the songs. this would be ideal as I have many albums under certain artists

    I use to use windows media player. The layout was great. It would have icons (one of the album artwork inside the folder) for the artists. you could click on the artist and it would have the icons for all of the albums (similar to itunes) however it would not have all the songs included in that album listed underneath or within it. you had to click on the icon for the album to go into that particular album to view the songs. In my personal opinion this was much easier to search for a particular album especially if you had many albums under one artist as I do. I collect live concert recordings for several particular bands. It would be really nice if itunes would allow you to contract the songs names within each album under artist view and have some way to exand them or open a seperate album folder when clicking on the album name through artist view. is this even possible. does anyone know a way to allow this is happen. you would make a serious music collector very happy. I know this is a crazy request but for people who are serious music collectors like myself with over a TB of music it is much easier to consolidate each individual album under each individual artist for faster searching/viewing needs

  • How to hide albums names in Grid View

    Some albums names are too long, like "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb". In small screens, like MacBook, is a mess to use Grid View because all long names comes with a cut and "…".
    Can I just hide the albums names and artists names? Would be great if I could have just the covers without the characters soap.

    Woohoo!
    I'm a little drunk right now, it being saturday night, but giving this a cursory and immediate look-over,
    it appears to me that this is exactly what I wanted!
    And also, it seems kind of basic and stupid of me that I have missed it. It seems kind of foolish of me, not fully exploring the "view" menu.
    Of course I explored it a bit, but I did not think that the column browser would contain what I needed / wanted.
    I kind of wrongly assumed that all views were on the GUI, but now that I think about it, that makes no sense. The GUI never shows everything in any app.....
    Thanks a million!
    Until further notice, I think that's just what I was after, as well as the other answers contained in your previous posts.
    Thanks again Steve!
    I appreciate your answers. Really accurate.

  • How do i make a compilation using separate albums from separate artists

    Hi,
    I just got a CD that my friend made me with 17 different songs, each from a separate artist. What i would like to do is put the album name and artist on each song, but group them together as a compilation/ album with the same artwork (my friends own custom art). Is that possible?
    I've tried putting the same album artist, but that still leaves me with 17 albums. Marking them as a compilation does nothing, and I've also deleted the individual albums and renamed them the same thing, so they are in one album with the same name, but id rather have each album name with the songs.
    A backup would be to make each song have the custom artwork and just put them in a playlist, but is there any way to put them together as an album instead?
    Thank you in advance!

    The only way that iTunes can recognize tracks as being part of one album is for the value of the Album element to be the same for all tracks, coupled with with a common Artist value, common Album Artist value, or the Album is a compilation ... flag being set for all tracks.  Your choices are then:
    leave the tracks as-is, i.e., each having its original Album value, and group them by putting them into a playlist, or
    copy the original Album values in to another field (Grouping might be suitable), then set the Album value to be the same for all tracks, and either set the Album Artist to a common value (e.g., "Various Artists") or set the Album is a compilation ... flag for all tracks.
    The second option would group the tracks as one album while retaining the information about the original source of each song.

  • Can Album Names/Titles Be Changed?

    trying to avoid the LONG list of albums beginning with "The"
    Vaio   Windows XP

    yes, of course: select all the tracks of each album you want to take the "the" off of (one album at a time) right click>get info. you may be asked if you want to edit multiple items. hit yes. then, where it says the album name, you can delete the "the". hit ok.
    however, there is no way to change all of them at the same time, only one album at a time.
    i believe in windows media player, it automatically ignores "the"'s in album names and alphabetically sorts by the second word instead. i am not suggesting you switch, but pointing this out as more of a feature request to apple.

  • Unable to Edit Title/Album Song Info on Untitled Tracks

    Hello, I'm having some difficulty with my iTunes. I have dozens of songs that I have imported from old CD's, but when I click Get Info, the Info section is grayed-out and will not let me edit the songs' names, CD, artist, etc.
    I have tried using the Get Track Names. When I do, I get a pop-up stating: "CDDB info not available for some of these items." I have also made sure that my iTunes folder and the folders within have the Read-Only option unchecked. This is really getting on my nerves and would appreciate any advice for why I can't edit my songs.
    Thanks

    Take full control and ownership over the top-level itunes folder, and all its subfolders.

    Then restart itunes so it will read the new permissions.

  • How do I print a list of only the album names I have in Itunes.

    I am new to I Tunes.
    I am using Windows 7 on a Dell laptop.
    I would like to print a list of only the album titles I have loaded onto my Ipod Nano.
    Thanks for any and all help.

    Thank you for your reply.
    In ITunes I have gone to Music.
    I then did File >  Print and selected Album Listing.
    When I did this it did display the albums but also all the songs on each album.
    I would like to have the album names only
    After you click "Album Listing," you will see a "Theme" pulldown menu that gives you the choice of "Songs by Album" or "List of Albums."  Choose the latter.

  • Sorting Library by Album Name

    Just upgraded to iTunes 7 - I am unable to sort my library by just Album name. When I select available columns it has one titled Album but when I choose it shows up as Album by Artist. The impact is that any album with multiple artists will not sort correctly. Can anyone shed some light on this topic. I just want album name back.

  • 7 good reasons, why artist=album name is not the solution for compilations

    Hi,
    in this forum everytime the compilations-problem is discussed, somebody comes up with the solution to fill the album-name into the artist name field and to set the song-title name to "Artist / Song-Title". This might help with the cover-flow issue but does have the following downsides:
    7 good reasons, why artist=album name is no alternative for compilations
    ========================================================================
    1) It messes up the artist search.
    2) Unability to turn the display of artists on compilations on or off on demand without changing all the tags
    3) The mp3 tags are not used in the standard way
    4) "Artist / Song-Title" as song-title name is often too long to display
    5) The album name appears twice in the song information display when the song is playing (as the artist name and as the album name)
    6) This is not consistent with how it works in iTunes
    7) People owning a lot of compilations are forced to do A LOT of manual changes only to "fix it" back when (hopefully soon) a new firmware fixing this issue arrives
    I already posted this as an answer in another thread but I thought it might be helpful to discuss this in an own thread. What do you think about the reasons? Can you add additional reasons?
    If Apple really left out the compilations-flag on purpose (see http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5401783#5401783) we might need some good arguments to bring it back in.
    Best regards, Jens

    Yes, I agree with your list. I also think it is inconceivable that Apple simply forgot to add the compilations feature. There obviously has to be a good reason for this. However, I haven't got a clue what that reason might be.

  • Folder and Album names onto CD

    Please bear with me.  I did this before and now I can't figure out how.  Such are the ravages of aging brains.
    I'm trying to copy the music from my old vinyls to CDs I can play in my car.  I have software and a USB connection that let me get the music onto my computer in MP3 form.  Plays back OK on the computer.  I created a playlist in iTunes with a bunch of songs and used iTunes to burn the music onto a CD.  Works fine.
    Here's the problem:  I have 116 songs on one CD that display a title when they play, but there is no other organization.  I did this once before with a bunch of other albums and when I playback the display shows a folder name and an album name.  That way I can skip an entire album or artist easily to get to what I want instead of advancing song by song through dozens and dozens.
    The new CD I created doesn't have that info, just Unknown Folder or Unknown Album.  Looking at the Properties of the mp3s I created, all the Details/Media are filled in, i.e., Artists, Album Artist, Album, even Year, #, Genre and Length.
    What am I missing?

    Lucky Eddie,
    You are remembering correctly.  Before you burn the MP3 CD, sort the playlist by Album.  That will cause iTunes to burn the MP3 CD with the songs in an Artist/Album structure.
    For more information, see this document:
    iTunes: How to set the play order of songs on an MP3 CD
    Look especially at the section "How to burn by album."

  • How do I modify the Title Column of a Task List using JSLink

    I would like to modify the title column of a Task List in SharePoint 2013. I would like to make the title column different colors based on a selection in another field. For some reason I can run the TitleRendering function
     on a different filed and it works perfectly, but when I try to run it on the Title field it is completely ignored. Is there some kind of work around for this?
    var taskSample = taskSample || {};
    taskSample.CustomizeFieldRendering = function () {
    RegisterSod('hierarchytaskslist.js', '/_layouts/15/hierarchytaskslist.js');
    LoadSodByKey('hierarchytaskslist.js', null);

    taskSample.TitleRendering = function (ctx) {
    var output = [];
    switch(ctx.CurrentItem.Unit) {
    case "Unit 1":
    output.push('<span style="color: blue;">');
    output.push(ctx.CurrentItem.Title);

    output.push('<span style="color: yellow;">');
    output.push(ctx.CurrentItem.Title);
    output.push('</span>');
    break;
    case "Unit 5":
    output.push('<span style="color: orange;">');
    output.push(ctx.CurrentItem.Title);
    output.push('</span>');
    break;
    case "Unit 6":
    output.push('<span style="color: pink;">');
    output.push(ctx.CurrentItem.Title);
    output.push('</span>');
    break;
    default:
    output.push(ctx.CurrentItem.Title);
    break;
    return output.join('');
    taskSample.CustomizeFieldRendering();

    Hi,
    Per my understanding, the TitleRendering function is not been applied to the Title column of the Task list.
    I suggest you replace the “Title” with “LinkTitle” in your .js file:
    var overrideCtx = {
    Templates: {
    Fields: {
    "LinkTitle": {
    'View' : taskSample.TitleRendering
    In IE Developer Tools, we can see that the “name” attribute of the Title column is “LinkTitle”:
