Unable to move iPhone icons in iTunes

Subject pretty much says it all. The Mac is a macBook with Yosemite. The iPhone is an iPhone6. When I plug the iPhone in, select the iPhone, select apps,
I see a list of apps located approximatly  in the middle of the screen, with the option to select remove or install. On the right the home screens are shown etc.
I'm unable to select an icon on any of these screens. When I click an icon and attempt to drag it, ITunes wants to move the entire home screen.

Double click on the screen so it enlarges, then you can drag and drop.  You have to do this with any of the folders as well.

  • My latest OS upgrade (to 6.1.3) resulted in loss of all music on the iPhone. It is still on my computer intact, but cannot get it back on the phone. If I click on music under the iPhone icon in iTunes, it shows me only voice memos.  Help!

after upgrades, suddenly no music is on or can be synched to the iPhone. It is all there on my computer but cannot get it to synch back. I tried copying over older itl fils t no avail.
If I click on music under the iPhone icon within iTunes, it shows on a dozen or so voice memos. (also shows them under "Voice memos").
    Itunes version is 11.0.3 (42)
    Any suggestions?

From the requirements point of view, you can happily move to iOS 6. From the user tranquility pov, it's a crapshoot. Remember that MILLIONS of iDevices have been sold, a couple of those just this past Xmas season and hence all with iOS 6 preinstalled. "Many complain in the forums" is a number that ranges in the 10's or 100's: i.e., a minuscule amount of the total devices out there. And. of course, nobody comes here to gush excitedly about how well his iGadget works; everybody here (save those of us regular users who attempt to help, we're not Apple employees) has a gripe, grumble or complaint.
I can tell you from personal experience that my i5 with iOS 6.1.4 works as desired. All my colleagues' iPhones with iOS 6 work as expected. And we have a particularly flaky Wi-Fi environment thanks to our less than stellar netadmins.
But in the end, it is entirely up to you. Will you bite the bullet, or wait some more? Check the new stuff that came with iOS 6 and decide whether or not to risk it.

    Hello Dowad,

  • TS1363 since installing itunes 11.1 i am unable to connect iphone/ipad to itunes?

since installing itunes 11.1 i am unable to connect iphone/ipad to itunes?

    Hey there Jantje1,
It sounds like you are unable to launch iTunes and get an error message instead. I would try the troubleshooting outlined in this article named:
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1717
If it comes down to uninstalling, then re installing iTunes altogether, use this link to download the 64 bit version of iTunes directly.

  • Why can't i drop/drag a playlist to my iphone icon in itunes?

Why can't I drop/drag a playlist to my iPhone icon in iTunes?  If I try to manually sync, it says my phone is synced to another library and will be erased/synced with the library on my computer, which I don't want to do.  There are some songs on my current computer that would be deleted.  Do I have to completely try to rebuild the playlist?  I thought when I removed it from my phone last year, but saved it to my computer, I would just be able to drop/drag it to add it back on this year.

You do it all the time with what from your MBP?
You have manually manage music and video selected under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes?

  • Mavericks 10.9.5 Unable to move desktop icon. Sort By = None.

    ON version 10.9.5 Mavericks.
This was working but the past few days is no longer.
I am unable to move a desktop icon (i.e. drag it and move it into another folder, etc).
    View/Sort BY = None.

Take these steps if the cursor changes from an arrow to a white "prohibited" symbol when you try to move an icon on the Desktop.
Sometimes the problem may be solved just by logging out or restarting the computer. Try that first, if you haven't already done it. Otherwise, continue.
Select the icon of your home folder (a house) in the sidebar of a Finder window and open it. The Desktop folder is one of the subfolders. Select it and open the Info window. In the General section of the window, the Kind will be either Folder  or something else, such as Anything.
If the Kind is Folder, uncheck the box marked Locked. Close the Info window and test.
If the Kind is not Folder, make sure the Locked box is not checked and that you have Read & Write privileges in the  Sharing & Permissions section. Then close the Info window and do as follows.
Back up all data before continuing.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    xattr -d com.apple.FinderInfo Desktop
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. You should get a new line ending in a dollar sign ($). Quit Terminal.
    Relaunch the Finder.
If the problem is now resolved, and if you use iPhoto, continue.
Quit iPhoto if it's running. Launch it while holding down the option key. It will prompt you to select a library. Choose the one you want to use (not the Desktop folder.)

  • HT4061 unable to activate iphone 3gs with itunes

I was recently given an I-Phone 3 GS by my daughter in law.  The phone had not been used for several months and was naturally dead.   I bought a charger and was able to charge the phone successfully but am unable to configure the phone and activate it via i-tunes.   The phone had an Orange network SIM card in it which, i was advised may have been deactivated during the months of non usage.   I was also advised to buy a new Orange PAYG sim to see if that worked but still unable to get the phone activated.
The phone displays no service message so does not appear to recognise the Orange SIM, also on first attempt to activate with new SIM i received message stating that the "pairing information was not found".  Since then just get "unable to activate iphone at this time" message from i-tunes.
Is anyone able to offer any advice or am i flogging a dead horse with this phone?
    regards
    popcol

Not sure if it has ever been modified before, i'll have to ask my daughter in law.
i'm not familiar with iphone(i have htc, for shame:-))  Cydia?   i can get no further than entering language, country and WiFi connection before it trys then fails to activate.
    Thanks  for the reply

  • When right clicking on the iPhone icon on iTunes to back up the iPhone I keep getting a failure message. I am unable to backup my phone

Can anyone out there help me!!

Since you do not indicate anything except rebooting, then take a look at this support document for some troubleshooting steps. If you see 'No SIM' alert on iPhone - Apple Support

  • I am unable to move app icons from one screen to the next, after 2.1

    Can any one verify this?
I have restarted the phone, just in case and the behavior continues.
While on the subject, it would be nice if Apple could supply a MAC interface for rearranging the iPhone screens as it is not much fun on the phone itself.

Figured it out last night. it does work but you now have to kind of over along the boder before it jusmps over. I am pretty sure that before it sufficed to push the icon to the border in order to move it over.
I guess this new way is better as you really need to want to move it in order to switch screens.

  • Unable to sync iPhone 3G to iTunes 10.5.0.56

Never had any problems syncing until recently. My computer crashed and had to get a new one. Computer guy transfered data from old to new computer. I think that he probably updated my version of iTunes to 10.5.0.56, but can't say for sure. Now I am unable to sync my 3G. My first thought is that my 3G isn't compatible with iTunes 10.5.0.56. Thank you in advance for any input.

    Thanks for the reply.
That's not the answer because it synced fine at work with the same version of Aperture. I restored my iPhone at home to sync with my home machine, but it won't see Aperture libraries at home.
Just to be clear, Aperture shows up as a sync source, but when I tell it to sync Aperture photos, no libraries show up. It's as if I didn't have any libraries in Aperture.

  • Can't move iphone applications in itunes

In itunes I should be able to rearrange and select which icons i want on my iphone but for some reason it wont let me do anything on the applications screen. Any idea whats going on?

    Hi,
I think I may have your solution (and mine). I seems you have Restrictions turned on in the device.
    1. Click on the Settings app in your devices home screen.
    2. Click on General.
    3. Click on Restrictions.
    4. If Restrictions is turned on, try turning it off and continue. If not this may not be your answer.
    5. Restart iTunes and your apps tab under Devices should now be active again.
This is such a shame that we can't manipulate apps when restrictions is turned on since I need it on through necessity to save money. But at least I can turn it off if I need to manipulate home pages/screens, then turn restrictions back on.
If you want to know what that necessity is please follow this link and read my entire post! http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2265779
    Hope this helped... Cheers,.

  • Unable to restore iPhone 5 through iTunes.

Hello, I am having a problem. My iPhone 5 seemed to download iOS 8 (Connect to iTunes logo is red.) None of the buttons (Home or Power) seem to function or respond at all. I am unable to shut down the device via Power button. It will only wake when I plug it into the lightning port. When I do, the Apple logo appears, and immediately goes into recovery mode. In iTunes, I have attempted to restore the device, but when it completes, the device just restarts, and puts me back exactly where I have started. I can't get into DFU mode, since the buttons do not function. I have verified that they are all firmly seated properly. If anyone has any ideas, please feel free to share them. I have tried multiple computers, multiple cables, ensured iTunes and my computer are up to date, restarted my computer, and attempted the "restore" process at least 15 times. I'm at my wit's end here, so any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Unable to Access Speakers icon in iTunes 10

I received an Airport Express for Christmas and am having a dickens of a time getting my external speakers recognized so I can use this system! In iTunes 10 I have enabled the check box to look for remote speakers but even after restart of iTunes or reboot of computer there is no icon to select speakers!
My Airport Express has been set up correctly and is recognized but is doing me no good since I can't access speakers from it!
My Airport Express is set up to join my existing network and the powered speakers are plugged into the speaker plug on the Express.
    Help anyone???
    Message was edited by: lvich

Suggest that you temporarily move the Express close to your wireless router to insure a good wireless signal and plug in a pair of headphones to simulate speakers. In iTunes, be sure to select your speakers at the lower right of the iTunes window. Look for a square box with an arrow inside the box. Click on that to select your speakers.
Restart the complete network and see if the "test" setup will work.
If yes, move the Express to the desired location but keep the headphones plugged in to test. If things are working, switch to your powered speakers. If you suddenly lose the sound, you have problem in the connecting audio cable or speakers themselves to troubleshoot.

  • HT1386 Unable to sync iphone 3g to itunes

For a month I have been unable to sync my iphone 3g to any of my computers..Is there anything that can be done

I'm having a similar problem. It can find my phone but when I try to sync my phone I can't get passed stage 3. It comes up with a message saying "waiting for changes to be applied", yet I've made no changes. I've uninstalled iTunes several times but I still get the same message. Any idea how I could fix this?
