Unable to Move Music

I am unable to transfer purchases from iTunes to my iTouch (manually or by completing a sync process). The iTouch is not new and I have recently just started having this issue. I have deauthorized my prior computers, but that doesn't seem to resolve the issue. I do not have the Manually Manage Music setting selected on my device (and I don't want it selected). Does anyone know what I should do to correct this issue?

Well, you marked this topic as solved which I guess it isn't really.
You need to transfer the library with which you originally synced the phone to the new computer. A phone will only sync to the original library or it will offer to erase the phone for syncing with a new library.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to choose a library, then select the copied iTunes folder.

Plugged my iPod mini into a new pc, can't move music

I have plugged in my ancient iPod mini into a new pc that already has iTunes and a library of music that I don't want to lose. I have set this relic to 'manually manage music' and I am unable to move music from my iPod to my iTuens library. Help please.

Was your iPod previously set up to Manually Manage (where you dragged/dropped the music) or was it set to auto sync (where it started sycning as soon as you plugged it in.)?
If it was set to Manual, you have no worries. Just continue on your way.
If it was set to Auto, you will have to transfer your purchases or redownload them from the iTunes store.
You're either going to have to get the other music back from the websites/CDs you got them from before or find an iPod ripping software program that will do it for you.

MOVE music from default iTunes library to another?

I'm new to itunes/ipod use. Cannot figure out how to MOVE SOME of the music I've already imported into the default iTunes library to a separate library I created to hold JUST Christmas music. I can create the "Christmas" library and can switch between it and the default library in iTunes but am unable to move music between them. I have the ipod set to manually manage music and to use as a hard drive (I think).
iTunes has to be the most frustrating system I've ever used!!!

Not sure what you've tried. Do you want to move the actual holiday music files? Or just temporarily add the holiday music to your main library?
I just have it all in my main library, and all properly tagged with genre=Holiday. Then I have a smart playlist where Genre=Holiday. Now that I don't want to hear any of that stuff anymore, I went into the smart playlist for HOliday, and control-checkmarked it.
Now, none of that stuff will play - it is unchecked, so will get skipped during playback and shuffle.

Unable to view music videos in iTunes on mac

I have iTunes on a G5 Mac Pro It is on the latest version of 10.5 with the most recent update to iTunes. I am unable to view music videos many of which I purchased from the iTMS or came with music CD's as extras some are m4v others are mp4.
If on import I set the option for format as being Music Video I cannot get the videa to launch double clicking on the video gives a picture in the album cover window but does not launch the video viewer nor does the video play. I dont often view music videos just Movies or TV Shows and last time I did I recall Music Videos playing they opened in a seperate window and there was once a setting in preferences where you could choose if a video launched in a new window or used on in iTunes.
I have used the info window to change the video type to standard movie and then going back to the file in iTunes double clicking launches the video in full screen mode. Once I then set back to Music Video it reverts to refusing to play.
In any format the file plays in Quicktime
Any suggestions pointing to where the problem may lie would be welcome. I cant see any relevant settings to set how a video displays in either menus or Preferences other than ensuring video window stays on top. It maybe in one of the many upgrades this Mac and iTunes has had the settings have been corrupted.

They will not show up in a separete category in iTunes. This is because the videos will show up as songs so that you can play the audio portion of a video without the video. Try it.

New MacBook Pro - Move Music?

Hello,
I just recently bought my first macbook pro (yay), however i'm having trouble moving files.
The main reason i even use a laptop is for music - which i keep stored on an external drive.
I like the reassurance that, should, my laptop break i have still have all my albums.
However, i am unable to move files from the itunes folder where they automatically save, to the external.
When i try to drag and drop, nothing happens. i just get a large " X ".
Is there a way for me to fix or work around this?
i really don't wanna have to save all my music files on the laptop memory! that would suck.
Would really appreciate any help you could give, otherwise i'll just call apple tomorrow after work.

Backing up offloaded files:
You can automatically backup your internal and external drives to a single Time Machine disk.
Simply plug in the Time Machine disk and then
 > System Preferences > Time Machine > Options… > Remove the offload HD name from the exclusions list.
Now both your system disk and your external offload disk will be backed up onto your Time Machine disk.
Do not offload live files onto a Time Machine disk. If this backup disk crashes you would lose the live data on it.

Unable to move Movies,Podcasts and App

1.I am unable to move the podcasts,Apps and Videos which I am able to see in the upper part of itunes(computer) to lower part(Iphone)?
But I am able to move the Music from Computer to Iphone.

Can't move music icon

When I updated to ios5 I'm unable to move my music icon, the only way that I can get it to move it at all is by moving other icons around it. I've backed up/restored and set up as a new phone. Anyone else having this problem?

Is the box on the iPod Touch's Summary tab that says "Manually manage music and videos" checked?

Yes! It is set up for manual management because I have way more music than will fit on my nano so I am only putting my favorites on it! It's just odd that the music on the 2 new CDs I downloaded into iTunes will not copy over! When I drag my songs to the playlist I made on my nano it acts like it is copying because I get the number of songs icon and the + sign indicating that it is copying but then the playlist is empty. The nano will say for a couple seconds that it is synchronizing but in the end nothing has transferred! If I take an older song and drag it into the playlist it does copy! Seem like it has to do with the new CDs being compatible with nano? I would really appreciate any advice! Thanks!

Check your "manually manage music and video" box. Probably your ipod is checked but not your iPhone.
Check it and click the Apply button on the lower right window.

I read your entire message, and my mom's iPhone 5 does this exact same thing. When the idiot at the AT&T store transferred her data (well, most of it) to her new phone, he DID NOT use her latest iCloud backup like he should have, but used some features in "Bump" to move things across. So, in my opinion, it's not worth the hassle of restoring it as a new device as Tim suggests. That's just the easy answer. Here's something odd about hers. It seems to do this, when she's using her bluetooth earpiece (a Jawbone Icon), but not when she's got bluetooth disabled on the iPhone 5 and holding down the "Home" button to activate Siri. If she uses her Jawbone bluetooth earpiece to activate Siri, the answer that Siri presents on the phone's screen will only stay on for about five seconds, then dim, then go blank -- and she has to "swipe to unlock" and, of course, the Siri information is gone. Not so if she uses the Home key to activate Siri.

Oops, I forgot a step between 7 and 8 ... before syncing the iPhone I need to explicitly send the document back to iTunes on the iPhone, or the changes won't come over at all ...
and then one more thing ... Numbers on iOS does NOT recognize a number of key features of the OSX app, such as conditional formatting ... so after editing my document on iOS and syncing it back to OSX on my Mac, all of those settings are lost (no more conditional formatting, have to do it all over again)

Sorry, but that is correct. You need Snow Leopard to sync your phone and the latest version of iTunes and you old G5 cannot run that.
