I would first start with closing all applications in multitasking and power cycling the device. Test opening a downloaded book in iBooks

It may seem strange indeed, but yes, you have to ALSO install the older version 6 for Apple's system; other applications will use your Java (which I believe is now even 9) and others will use that version 6.

IBooks wont open any books or complete the download

I upgraded to the latest version of iBooks about 2 weeks ago (iBooks 2) since then i have been unable to open any of my books, both downloaded from the bookstore and PDF book stored on the device.
I upgraded to the latest update of iBooks and still no luck. I've tried re-booting the device, un-installing and re-installing iBooks and still not had any luck.
I lost all my PDFs and my purchased books. I downloaded one of my purchased books from iCloud and the download never seems to complete.

Whalj99 , knave the same problem. I purchased Calico Joe before it was released and on April 4th I tried to download it and it says go to purchased. I push the purchased, and it says push the download. It will send me to the Calico Joe page and when I push download it again says go to purchased. It's one big circle and I still can not download the book. Any fixes or solutions.

Had taken out old ipod touch version 3.0, just to check. Now find that yahoo mail not working at all on it even though gmail works fine.
Seems I am facing some unique problems. .

Usually when you uninstall/reinstall you are given the option to retain all your settings including add-ons. If you can't get started, though, I really can't help any further.
As a long shot you could try opening Firefox from your Start Menu or Programs folder. If that works, you should create a new Firefox icon. Drag your Firefox from the Start Menu to the Desktop(it doesn't actually move) and it will offer you the option of creating a desktop icon.
As a very long shot you could check the Properties of the Desktop icon and see if anything is out of place.
When you say it doesn't show up on the screen do you mean it doesn't open at all or it opens to a blank screen? Try pressing F11 if you get a blank screen - you could be in full screen mode.

Can't open any books in iBook

I cannot open downloaded books in iBook library. I put 2 books on tonight and went to open it but the pages are blank.
I tried with current books already in iBook that I could open before but they are all blank now too! Can anyone help please?

I was having this problem as well. I tried force quitting the app, deleting and re-downloading ibooks and nothing was helping. Finally I just decided to restore my iPad and start fresh with ibooks and that worked and I can now read books again. If you have the books loaded on to iTunes or you don't mind having to re-download them try restoring your iPad and see if that works for you also!

Cannot open any books in IBOOKS since IOS 8 upgrade

Since "upgrading" to IOS 8 my IPAD now will not allow me to open up books I have purchased. I can see all of them in purchased but when I go to "bookshelf" it is EMPTY. To say I am mad is an understatement. I am about a nano second from chucking this thing and getting a kindle or something that works. This is ridiculous.

Picas, I think I figured it out. I have two different apple id's and must have purchased the books from a different apple id than the one I use on my imac. So when i switched the appleid on my imac and turned on the icloud it worked! Who knows? Now maybe you can help me get rid of searchbenny/bing on my imac. Just happened the last few days...ugh! Unable to open purchased books in ibook

I can only open ibooks on my ipad that are listed on my bookshelf . However, if I select the library's Purchased Catagory and try to open one of the many books that I have purchased, they will not open. I only get a description of the book. All of the books in my purchased section show to have been downloaded and many of them were recently updated. But, like I said, none of them will open when clicked on. If they have to be listed on my bookshelf, how do I move them there? I have had access to many of them before since my last IOS update, but am unable access them now.

P.S. I don't use and never have used iCloud (and don't plan to.)

The Purchased tab is part of the store, tapping on them there will only show your their description page from the store. If a book is not currently only on your bookshelf then it should have a cloud icon against it in the Purchased tab, tapping on that should download it to the bookshelf so that you can open and read them.
Not using iCloud won't stop them showing in the Purchased tab for redownloading and/or viewing their descriptions. Your purchases are automatically kept in the cloud for you to be able to redownload them (though you should also be taking your own backup copy of them), that can't be changed - they will stop showing for redownloading if you move countries, or if the rights-holder removes them from your country's store, or depending upon the type of item and your country (e.g. audiobooks and tones are one-time only downloads so won't show for redownloading ; films, music, TV programmes can't be redownloaded in all countries).

i can switch between responsibilites but one trying to open it doesnt show any change

Hi,
i came up with solution
am currently using IE8 explorer
i uninstalled both java 6 update 17 and j2se 5 update 10
installed fresh jre-7-windows-i586.exe and oaj2se.exe (j2se 5 update 10)
now its working fine with this but...
its taking too much time
when i start same form(system administrator -- concurrent request) with chrome its giving error
FRM-92120 REGISTRY FILE: \ORACLE\FORMS\REGISTRY\REGISTRY.DAT IS MISSING

I would recommend deleting the problematic book and downloading it again by accessing your previous purchases. Here are a couple articles that will help you with this process.

Before you delete, find out if you'll be able to download the book you deleted again (it depends on where you live). To delete a book:
Tap the iBooks app.
View your Purchased Books collection.
Tap Edit.
Tap any books you want to delete.
Tap Delete.
You'll have the option to delete your book on all your devices.

According to your User Agent you posted this question using Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8.1. Are you having a problem with Firefox? What Firefox version?
You said you are having a problem opening PDF files on your system. Can you explain that better? Mozilla Support can help you with opening PDF files in Firefox, which uses a built-in PDF reader. Maybe one of these articles will help?
