This kind of error has happened a few times recently; did you install Final Cut?
In your System Library a framework seems to be missing: /Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager
Open your System Library and look if the PluginManager.framework really is missing.
(to open your Library use the FInder "Go" menu:
Finder -> Go -> Go to Folder
and enter /Library
If the framework really is missing, the safest way to restore it is to reinstall the Operating System using an update combo, see:
Aperture 3.x: Aperture unexpectedly quits if Final Cut Express 4 is installed:

Unable to open Aperture. I get the spinning beach ball of death and then I must force quit.
A3, Macbook Pro 2.16Ghz Intel Core Duo with 2Gb RAM running OSX 10.6.8. Not sure about Managed or Ref. I have it on my iMac at home as well as my laptop. It has run fine before, I'm on my vacation and away from my serial number, etc.
Thanks for the quick response/

Unable to open Aperture library in Photos
Hi,
I am unable to open my Aperture library in Photos.
In the attempt to get this fixed, I carried out from within Aperture (by pressing alt-cmd during Aperture startup) in 'Photo library first aid' all three options that are offered: Repair permissions, repair database, rebuild database - nothing helped. I also had corrected before some dangling references to pictures that are not managed in the library; there are no offline or unreferenced pictures in the library.
In 'Photos' I am getting a pop-up windows with the message at stage "Preparing library ... 69% completed": "The library could not be opened. Photos has attempted to repair the library xxxx, but is unable to open it."
However, that same library opens fine in Aperture, and also in iPhoto.
What is the problem?
Thanks
WolfgangI talked to apple support. They recommended doing a basic level permissions repair using the following procedure:
The advice is a little outdated, and you just have to run the disk utility program to repair the permissions on your main drive and the drive upon which you store the databases. I have tried the following procedure and have re-run the importation procedure. Just at 1% now - so I hope that it will work this time. If it doesn't, I will report back after talking to a Level 2 person at Photos support.
JF
In the newest versions of OS X, there is an additional Repair Permissions application utility hidden away. This tool is located inside boot Repair Utilities. Here’s how to access it.
Restart OS X and hold down the Command and R keys.
You will boot into the Repair Utilities screen. On top, in the Menu Bar click the Utilities item then select Terminal.
In the Terminal window, type “resetpassword” (without the quotes) and hit Return.
The Password reset utility launches, but you’re not going to reset the password. Instead, click on the icon for your Mac’s hard drive at the top. From the drop-down below it, select the user account where you are having issues.
At the bottom of the window, you’ll see an area labeled ‘Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs’. Click the Reset button there.
The reset process takes a couple of minutes. When it’s done, quit the programs you’ve opened and restart your Mac. Notice that ‘Spotlight’ starts re-indexing immediately.
Great tip, thanks for sending this in Tony R!
Update: This works in OS X 10.7 Lion, and 10.8 Mountain Lion, OS X 10.9 Mavericks, OS X 10.10 Yosemite, and newer. -
I am unable to open my Aperture2.
The following warning message shows on top of the ususl opening window:
Quote
The libraryin "users/pedro/pictures/Aperture 3 Trial Library2.aplibrary" cannot be loaded because it is from newer version of Aperture.
Unquote
It looks like some kind of conflict with an old trial version 3, to which I never upgraded.
Any tips to help me solving the issue?Do you need to run Aperture 2, or do you need to open the "Aperture 3 Trial Library2.aplibrary"?
If you only want to run Aperture 2, then launch Aperture by double-clicking your regular Aperture 2 library; this should open Aperture on the correct library. In Aperture 3 you also simply could hold down the options-key while double-clicking the Aperture Applications icon in the Dock - probably this works in Aperture 2 as well,
But if you need to open your Aperture 3 trial library with Aperture 2, because you converted your Aperture 2 library to Aperture 3 format; there is no easy way to do it. The best would be to find a backup of your library from the time before you converted it. If you do not have such a backup, then the easiest way would be to upgrade to Aperture 3 at this point.
I do not know enough about the Aperture 2 library format to be able to tell you how to manually downgrade an Aperture 3 library to Aperture 2 format.

Unable to open Aperture Library
I am once again experiencing problems with my Aperture Library which is stored in an external hard disk.
Keep getting an error "1712" and message saying that application can not be opened.
Have tried to repair by holding down the command and option key while double clicking in the library but still no success! :-(Have tried to move my Aperture Library from the other ext drive by dragging it across, but unable to do so. Can you point me at the right direction for this?
What happens when you try? Do you you get an error message "Some items cannot be copied" or similar? Then you new drive is probably not formatted correctly as MacOS Extended (Journaled). Backup any items you moved to the drive and reformat it:
See Format external drives to Mac OS Extended before using with Aperture -
I am unable to open my Aperture library after my computer crash!!
I get the following error meassage after my computer crashed and now unable to open Aperture library. Do not have any of my photos backed up as yet!!!
"There was an error opening the database for the library “/Volumes/My Passport for Mac/Aperture Library.aplibrary”.The Crash may have prevented Aperture from closing the Library properly.
Make a backup copy of your Aperture library, before you proceed.
Then try to repair the library using the "Library First Aid Tools":
Aperture 3 User Manual: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library
Locate the Aperture library on your My Passport drive, then hold down the Command and Option keys while double-clicking the Aperture library.
Select Repair Database from the First Aid panel.
If that does not help, repeat, but select "Rebuild database".
If you still have prolems, post back and explain, what happened before Aperture crashed.

Unable to open all of a sudden aperture V3.0 on my i-mac OSX 10.6.8
Hi,
I am unable to open Aperture V3.0 on my imac OSX 10.6.8.
I have the DVD installation with serial number - what should I do please?
thanks
VanjaThanks -
The message is this one. I could no longer open the software, I didn't try to move the library, I have enough free disc and sorry I don't remember having updated the software, maybe but I think it is not free, I dindn't pay for an upgrade. It seems that I have to desinstall Aperture and reinstall it - but on the DVD installation there is nowhere the "desinstall" function.
Thanks to show me the way

I've just downloaded 'Aperture' and I'm still unable to open iPhoto?
Hi, I have just downloaded 'Aperture' at a cost of £55.00! as I was unable to open up 'iphoto'.
I now have Apeture latest version available, 3.5.1.
I have 'iphoto 9.5.1'
When I click on iphoto, I get this message:
To open this Aperture library in iPhoto, it first needs to be upgraded with Aperture 3.3 or later. Quit iPhoto and then open your library in Aperture to upgrade it.
When I click on Apeture, and try to use 'iphoto' I get the same message?
can anyone help please.
Cheers, Mike
My Old Macbook Pro
Software OS X 10.9.1 (13B42)
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT 256 MB
Memory 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duoo.k. Mike, the iPhoto application and the Aperture application are, fine, your external drive is fine.
When I click on iphoto, I get this message:
To open this Aperture library in iPhoto, it first needs to be upgraded with Aperture 3.3 or later. Quit iPhoto and then open your library in Aperture to upgrade it.
Your iPhoto library is not fine. Where is the library stored, that iPhoto is trying to open?
My photo's are both on my harddrive and my external harddrive. My external harddrive is has only iphoto pictures on it.
I thought this means, that your iPhoto library is on the external drive?
I do not have a problem with my external harddrive.
It is very rarely attached to my computer, and only used when I want to search for a particular place we have been to.
So, do you have a second iPhoto library on your internal drive? Do you get the above error message only when your external drive is not attached? -
I use aperature 3. For the past 2 days, I have been unable to open the aperature application. The icon does not even bounce in the dock. I keep my aperature library on a 2 tb external hard drive. I have never had this problem. Any thoughts? Thanks
For the past 2 days, I have been unable to open the aperature application.
What happened directly before this started? Have you updated software, installed something new, imported new images? Run any applications to clean the mac?
And what is your Aperture version and MacOS X version? Is your profile signature still current (MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2), i just upgraded to lion)?
Have you checked, if Aperture is still installed in your Applications folder? Does it start, if you click it directly in Applications and not from the Dock? Does Aperture start, if you click it while holding down the ⌥-key and select a different aperture library not on your 2 TB drive?

Unable to launch /open Aperture
I emptied my trash and now unable to launch/open Aperture.
Please help!!What do you think was in the trash when you emptied it? And how did you put it there?
What error do you get when you try to open Aperture?
Step 1) open a finder window, navigate to your Applications directory to check if Aperture is still there
If Aperture is missing, re-install it from your disc or the App store.

Can't open Aperture and can't access first aid dialog -- fixed by deleting .plist file
Friends,
I have the latest updated version of Aperture running on an imac i7 and mountain lion. When I try to open Aperture I receive an error message that says the library can't be opened/program quit unexpectedly. Eventually it asks me if I want to repair the data base -- I say yes. It runs the repair routine, but the problem remains. I am unable to access the first aid dialog by cmd./option clicking on the library -- I receive the same error messages.
However, I am able to open the library in iphoto, so something is working right.
Any ideas? I suppose I could uninstall/reinstall the program, but since I loaded it from a DVD, that would be cumbersome (unless everything's been transferred to the app store).
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
SteveAs I said above, you do not need your DVDs at all. You can download the Trial from here:
Aperture 3.1 Trial.
That will install Aperture 3.1, after you moved your current Aperture to the Trash - see my post above. To upgrade from 3.1. go to the Apple menu - software update (this will redirect to the AppStore and you should be able to use it this way)- or use the download at the support page:
Aperture 3.4
Regards
Léonie
Added: don't even try to open the Aperture 3.1 application after installing - it will not be able to open your current library - update immediately to aperture 3.4. -

Problems opening Aperture onto new iMac
I had to replace a malfunctioning iMac with Aperture installed on it with a new iMac. A data transfer moved everything from the old to new. When try to open Aperture it won't accept the original serial number or 3.0 serial number. I am unable to get into Aperture to access my photos. Thanks for your help.
No. Aperture, like every program I know of, separates program files from data files. Deleting and/or installing the Aperture program should have no effect whatsoever on your Aperture Libraries, wherever they are. Generally, your Aperture program file is in your Applications folder, and your Libraries are stored in your Documents folder. You might want to confirm that the move from old to new brought over your Aperture Libraries intact.

Unable to restore Aperture after minimizing.
Just upgraded to Aperture 3.4.5 on Mountain Lion for iMac. When I minimize the application I am unable to restore it by clicking on the Aperture icon in the dock. I was able to do this previously. Is the a new feature or something that can be adjusted? To retun to full screen, I have to right click on the icon in the dock and select the Application at the top of the list.
No, this issue only happens with Aperture.
And have you tried Frank Caggiano's advice to remove Aperture' preferences, since it is only Aperture, that connot restore its windows?
How to remove Preferences is described here: Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics
Delete the user preferences
You can resolve many issues by restoring Aperture back to its original settings. This will not impact your image files or your library. To reset your Aperture user preference settings to their original state, do the following:
Quit Aperture.
In the Finder choose Go to folder from the Go menu.
Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field. Press the Go button.
Remove the "com.apple.Aperture.plist" file from the Preferences folder.
Note: The locations of your Aperture libraries are stored in the preference file listed above. If you have stored your library outside the default location of ~/Pictures/Aperture Library, make a note of where the library is before deleting the Aperture preferences file. If you have more than one library, you can bring up a dialog to choose which one to load by pressing Option immediately after you open Aperture.
Log off and on again after removing the preferences - otherwise it may not have any effect in Mt. Lion.
