  • Unable to start Bridge in CS6

I have just installed CS6 from Disc, this runs fine but i am unable to open Bridge, either from within CS6 or by clicking on the Bridge icon in my taskbar.
I have read many forum discussions on this subject but have yet to find one with a good working answer to resolve the issue.
Is there a reason for the prolem Adobe? is there a fix or update? i have already checked that i have the latest updates running in CS6.
I have checked "task manager" on my windows 7 laptop, and it doesnt show any bridge applications running.
PLEASE HELP, i dont want to use $600 software which i saved up for only to find that a part of it doesnt work.
    Any suggestions
    Andy

    Hi all,
Well i tried everything that was suggested, including creating an empty folder in the c:\users\user name\app data\roaming\adobe\bridge cs6. Checking my TEMP folder, uninstalling and running adobe script cleaner, re installing, right clicking the bridge.exe and selecting run in compatability mode, pressing shift, control, alt. Launching bridge from within cs6 or on its own.
I even stood on my head and tried it , lol.
But eventually i cracked it................i created a new user account in control panel/user accounts, and it worked. I can now open bridge on its own or within CS6.
So now i have to move all my hundreds of pictures in LR4 to my new user profile. I intend to keep both profiles and just use the "new" one to run CS6 and work on my pictures.
So to cut a long story short dont waste time with all the other suggestions (as good as they are), just go straight in and create a new user profile and bingo.........
i am now so happy after a week of pulling my hair out.
thanks to all that tried to help me as i am sure you eventually let me down the correct path.........
Andy a happy cs6 and bridge user

  • Unable to open Bridge CS5

My iMac hard drive crashed.  I installed a new one and re-installed Photoshop CS5.  I am using OS X 10.8.2
Photoshop searched for and found updates and they were all successfully installed.  However, I am unable to open Bridge.  The mini-bridge function gets hung up on "waiting for bridge".  If I attempt to open Bridge from its own icon, it starts the process and then immediately closes.

Strange, can you report back the exact version numbers of PS and Bridge. (sorry, misread the update mentioned in first post)
If you change the finder window to column mode and select the icon it will show the info in a column next to the bridge icon.
Can you also provide details about your computer set up (type of iMac, amount of RAM, free space left on the Disk and Graphic card with amount of VRAM)?
You can check this all under the Apple icon top left 'About this Mac'
Does PS work normal on your system and do you have it activated as a full version and not in trial mode?
Did you try to uninstall PS and reinstall again to see if this would work?

Unable to open Bridge in Photoshop CC V 14.0 x64 get error message “Could not complete the Browse in Bridge command because Photoshop was unable to find the JavaScript plug-in.” need help please.
    Larry Hinz

Hello, did you download Bridge CC?
If yes, go to the start it from the start menu, if you are on a PC.
Also, is Photoshop up to date? you should have 14.2 Help>Updates.

I opened RAW files from D800 accidentally in CS3 (on old laptop) and are unable to open them now CS6. How to open them?

Sorry, yes this is Microsoft Excel.  The Microsoft XP has Excel files denoted as xl, the later versions of Microsoft Excel are denoted as xls files.  The later verions of Microsoft Excel open the xl files OK, does Excel for Mac not able to do this?

  • Unable to open Bridge CS6 after installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 8

I have been using Bridge CS6 successfully until I installed Photoshop Elements 8 to use with a scanner I bought.  After the installation, when clicking on Bridge CS6 it opens Bridge CS5.   I had a look at some of the forums and tried Ctrl-clicking on Bridge CS6, but it still opens  Bridge CS5.  I have also re-installed Photoshop CS6 in the hope that this will fix it.  Any suggestions as how to get Bridge CS6 going again will be appreciated!

Thanks for the replies.  I was able to sort this myself after I watched the the following video on how to reset the Adobe preferences:  http://tv.adobe.com/watch/the-complete-picture-with-julieanne-kost/how-to-reset-photoshop- cs6s-preferences-file/   I did the manual reset where I moved only the preference file to another location e.g. the Desktop.  I restarted my computer.  Closed Bridge CS5 that was running in the background and then clicked on Bridge CS6 and the program opened.  I decided to take a chance to see if this won't fix it and was elated when it worked.  Don't ask my why, but it did the job!

  • Keywords in Bridge CS5 & CS6 beta

After I installed Photoshop CS6 beta and opened Bridge CS6 I noted that it had imported a copy of my keywords from Bridge CS5.
However when a new keyword is added in Bridge CS5 it is not added to Bridge CS6….  and new keywords added in Bridge CS6 are not added into Bridge CS5.
Is there a way to sync my keywords in the two versions of Bridge?
Also need to know what will happen when I install the final release version of Photoshop CS6.  Will it import the keywords from my Bridge CS5 or the beta CS6?

Beleive CS5 and CS6 use different cache.  So you will probably have to trash the cache and let it rebuild to so new additons.
Can use Tools/cache/purge cache for xxx folder

  • Unable to reinstall Bridge CS6 or Photoshop CS6 on new iMac - Unable to find Uninstall anywhere in Library or Utilities

I just purchased a new iMac.  Our previous iMac finally "died" and we had to have the data recovered from hard drive and transferred to the new iMac.  I am now unable to open Bridge CS6 or Photorshop CS6.  Message says I need to reinstall.  But when going to Utilities, am unable to find Adobe Installer or Uninstall in any files or folders.  Anxious  to get back to using Bridge and Photoshop - HELP - and Thanks!!

No, you're never going to find it there.
In CS6, the Adobe uninstaller is inside the Adobe Photoshop CS6 folder, which in turn is inside the Root Applications folder.

Why will my Adobe Reader 9 not open the downloaded CS6 Beta file?

    Hi,
If your asking about the photoshopcs6_p1_installnotes.pdf, then it should open with Adobe Reader 9. It does for me with Adobe Reader 9 (9.5.0) on OSX 10.5.8.
The PDF is saved to version 1.4.

    Hi Noel,
    Thanks so much for replying.
Under Bridge>pref>file type assoc. are listed three items:    Internet Explorer 9.00
                                                                                                           Com surrogate 6.1
                                                                                                           Brouse
"Brouse" goes right to the "MY documents" folder, in which are listed many folders but not Photoshop.
I think I see light at the end of the tunnel. Can you help me find Photoshop?

  • Photoshop CS6 Beta install failing on Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit)

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit). I am unable to install the Photoshop CS6 beta version. When I launch the setup.exe file, the "Initializating Installer" dialogue box appears, however as soon as it finishes loading the dialogue box closes and nothing happens after that. If I try to relaunch the setup, it prompts me by saying that another setup is in progress. Could you please help me in this regards?

    Hi Pragya,
I have done so several times as well. In fact, I just tried it a couple of minutes back, still the installed initializes and disappears like nothing happened. In the mean while I have restarted my machine a number of times.
Can anyone help me with this issue, as i really wanna try the new CS6? Its really annoying.
    Thanks!

When opening Bridge (CS6) I get the following message: "Bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. Please try purging the central cache in Cache Preferences to correct the situation" I tried and after selecting purge cache it does not allow me to select OK. Also Bridge keeps saying "Building Criteria" with the spinning wheel and nothing happens. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. Please help:)

Maybe a Preferences reset can help:
Numerous program settings are stored in the Adobe Bridge preferences file, including display, Adobe Photo Downloader, performance, and file-handling options.
Restoring preferences returns settings to their defaults and can often correct unusual application behavior.
Press and hold the Ctrl key (Windows) or the Option key (Mac OS) while starting Adobe Bridge.
In the Reset Settings dialog box, select one or more of the following options:
      Reset Preferences
Returns preferences to their factory defaults. Some labels and ratings may be lost. Adobe Bridge creates a new preferences file when it starts.
    Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache
Purging the thumbnail cache can help if Adobe Bridge is not displaying thumbnails properly. Adobe Bridge re-creates the thumbnail cache when it starts.
    Reset Standard Workspaces
Returns Adobe predefined workspaces to their factory default configurations.
Click OK, or click Cancel to open Adobe Bridge without resetting preferences.

  • My friend is unable to open CR2 files in bridge but I can in CS6. How can I help him

My friend is unable to open CR2 files in bridge but I can in CS6. How can I help him

What version of Bridge and Camera Raw is your friend using?  And what camera is this from?
Each camera must be supported specifically and older versions of Adobe products don’t get updated for newer cameras.
Your CS6 is obviously new enough and has been updated to a new enough version of the Camera Raw plug-in but perhaps theirs is older or hasn’t been updated.
Here is a list of cameras that Adobe supports along with the version of the Camera Raw plug-in that is needed to read them:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
For versions older than CS6, the highest CR version is +1 of the CS version—CS5 can use CR6.x but not CR 7 or 8.
The exception is CS6 which is still be sold by Adobe so can be updated to CR8 even though it initially shipped with CR7.

  • Camera Raw images unable to open in bridge or CS6?!

I am unable to open my raw images from bridge to ps cs6. The error comes up as 'Camera Raw Cannot open this file'.  I have tried downloading the latest camera raw updates and patch installers, but nothing still works. Please help!

We're going to need a bit more information than that.
Are you using ACR 8.8? Press F in Camera Raw to check the version in the title bar.
Which camera make/model produced the raw files?
How did you get the files onto your computer (connection & software)?
Have you tried the camera manufacturer's own software to open the files?

  • Unable to Open Full and Mini Bridge in CS6

I recently purchased the Student & Mac edition of CS6 and installed it on my Mac OS X 10.7.5.  I'm entirely new to CS and was following some video tutorials online, when I discovered that both the full and mini bridge components will not open.  If I try to open mini bridge in Photoshop, I get a message "Waiting for Bridge CS6."  If I attempt to open Bridge through the file dropdown or from the application file itself, I get an error message that says the operation cannot be completed.
I followed all of Adobe's recommendations here with no success: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/error-waiting-for-bridge-cs5.html  I have searched this forum as well, but a similar post was solved by uninstalling a previous version of CS, which is not applicable to me.
Does anyone have any additional suggestions for me?  Please let me know if I can provide additional information that is helpful.  Thank you very much.

If you also tried a new user account for testing and it did not work there then it indicates you have a false install or install DVD, you might want to use the official uninstaller for Adobe, then use the cleaner tool:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
Read the instructions before acting and make sure you deactivate first and have the correct serial number at hand!
And then make sure you have a legal copy of your install DVD / download installer.
Also before reinstall it might be wise to first run a check and repair permissions using your Apple Disk Utilty (Applications/ Utilities /Apple Disk Utility)
    Then try again to install.
