• Adobe Acrobat Pro XI unability to open pdf mail attachments

Since upgrading to Adobe Acrobat Pro XI I am unable to open most pdf attachements on outlook. The message is that the file is corrupt or was encoded wrong. How do I correct this.

Hi Pat
I tried to save the attachment to the hard drive in Outlook 2013.
When opening the file in acrobat the error says that the file is either not a supported type or damaged (incorrectly encoded)
I have Acrobat Pro XI version 11.0.10 and windows 7 64 bit installed. It worked perfect on Acrobat pro X until about December 2014. In tried a repair, a clean install of XI. The files are bank statements. It works on Mac and Adobe reader, so the files must be correct.

Sandra

• I have adobe reader. In the last few days I have been unable to open e mail attachments

Mark I have an Adobe reader and in the last few days I have been unable to download e mail attachments

What is your operating system?
What is your email client?
What is your Adobe Reader version?
What means "unable" - how do you try downloading attachments, and what exactly happens when you try?

• Unable to open e.mail attachments

If i click on the attachment i get the Norton pop up saying it has been scanned, is OK and click on continue, to continue. This I do and nothing happens. If the attachment has downloaded I can't find it using the search facility. This problem has been occuring for several weeks now, with different types of attachments, video, text, photos, etc.
If I forward the e.mail to my Hotmail account I have no problems and the attachment, whatever it might be, can be opened or viewed straight away.
There is obviously something not quite right with th BT Yahoo mail as set up on my pc. Any suggestions please?

• Have a problem opening e-mail attachments

Hi,
i'm having a problem with opening e-mail attachments. I received an e-mail from a friend, and it had the little paper clip on it. (I believe she was sending an article. But she also sent me a photo in a separate e-mail, neither worked). But I could not figure out how to open it. I tried putting my cursor over it, but it seems that there was no way to open it. There was no way of opening it, it just had that icon, and nothing else. Why am I not able to access it? (I should point out that she has a PC. I dunno whether or not that makes a difference but I thought I'd throw that in there). Any assistance you can give me on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Have you tried saving the attachment to your hard disk and then opening it?
If there's an attachment, near the top right of the message window should be the option to save it. Click on 'save' and then try to open the file in the location you saved it to.

• Unable to open "compose mail/settings/contacts" in standard view in 2 out of 3 Gmail accounts

Unable to open "compose mail/settings/contacts" in standard view in 2 out of 3 Gmail accounts. When "compose new mail" is selected "loading...." appears at the top then the page is frozen. ie you can't select inbox etc. Changing from standard to basic h/ml then clears the Loading... and gmail can be used (without spellcheck etc).
This might not be Mozilla, but I can access these accounts in standard view on another computer.

Your Gmail account may well be an IMAP account, just like the iCloud mail account. In which case it will work in just the same way as iCloud mail, except that you will have to set it up manually on each device, where as iCloud mail adds the account itself when you log into iCloud.
Whilst it works the same as iCloud mail it isn't iCloud that syncs it for you.

• Open e-mail attachments in BB 8703e

I am getting my e-mails from Outlook 2003 (Exchange Server) using the BB Desktop Redirector : that way I get everything that reaches my Inbox at the office. Even though my 8703e has the application "BB Attachment Service 4.2", I can not open e-mail attachments. The selection "Open attachment" is not in the menu when I click the trackwheel. Is this a limitation of the BB-to-Outlook channel? If so, how do I solve it?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

you will uninstall or repair Desktop manager to be installed for BlackBerry Internet servcie (BIS) configuration and delete Desktop(cmime) and (cical) service books on devices present under options>advanced options> service book.
this is how you can set up pop/imap/owa integrations. i dont beleieve you need to enable POP as OWA (outlook web access ) should be present on your exch and you can integrate email accounts via OWA. BIS servers check for mail on your exch server every 15 minutes and then push messages to device, you dont have to make any changes on device or exchange.

You can setup Mail for iCloud on the eMac.
Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
• Server name: imap.mail.me.com
• SSL Required: Yes
• Port: 993
• Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
• Password: Your iCloud password
SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
• Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
• SSL Required: Yes
• Port: 587
• SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
• Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)

• Unable to open Settings Mail, Contacts, Calendars

I'm unable to open Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars. It just reverts back to the home page every time I click on it. I've tried resetting everything, but I still have the same problem.

Thanks, Plimosoll. I also finally got to the Apple shop where they were very helpful, but lost some of my backup because I don't fully understand the system yet.
I asked what the so-called Genius in the shop had done. He told me he had done a DFU restore. This is not explained in any of the documentation provided by Apple, but is easily found using Google.
It's slightly annoying, as I tried to get this information from the phone help. I was told that as I bought the Ipad more than 90 days ago it would cost me GBP25 to answer my question. In the time that the person explained this, albeit cleary and politely, she could have just told me to Google DFU restore. Still, I suppose that is how Apple has made so much money.
Anyway this fix has opened up a whole new area for using my Ipad.

unable to open yahoo mail on mozilla -cant see mail content though i can see the details on Internet explorer. what may be the problem kindly help

This issue can be caused by corrupted cookies.
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete cookies.sqlite-journal and cookies.txt, if they exist, in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

• Suddenly my imac will not open e-mail attachments. It scans for viruses. I hit continue and nothing happens.

Suddenly my imac will not open e-mail attachments. It scans for viruses. When I hit "continue", nothing happens.

The problem most likely is the antivirus application. My recommendation would be following the developers instructions, uninstall the application. Most antivirus applications tend to create more problems than they solve. The best thing you can do for your system is to run Software Update frequently and let Apple's security handle any issues. I'd also strongly recommend you carefully read Thomas Reed's Mac Malware Guide.

• Sending Mail attachments to windows users

When sending Mail attachments (Jpegs) to windows PCs they arrive embedded in the message body, not as an attachment that can be saved. Can I, or the recipient, do anything to rectify this?

From Mail Help:
If Windows users have trouble with your attachments
Windows users might not be able to read attachments you send, the messages they’re attached to, or both; or they might see two files when you’ve sent only one.
Try these solutions:
Choose Edit > Attachments > Always Send Windows Friendly Attachments.
Choose Edit > Attachments > “Always Insert Attachments at End of Message” to automatically have attachments inserted at the end of a message. Otherwise, some Windows recipients might not easily see all of your message because parts of it are put into attachments, which they have to open to read.
Use filename extensions, such as .doc for a Microsoft Word document, in the names of files you send to Windows recipients. This way, the files can be read by a Windows application.
If you send a file (for example, “MyFile”) to someone who uses a Windows computer, the recipient might see two files: “MyFile” and “._MyFile.” The recipient can ignore the file named “._MyFile.”
If you have a New Message window open, the Edit > Attachments commands don’t contain “Always” and they apply only to the message you’re currently composing.
If you haven’t set the default, click Attach in the toolbar of the New Message window and select the Send Windows Friendly Attachments checkbox.

• Mail attachments to Windows machines?

I am trying to send two images as attachments to a user on a Windows machine. The attachments are appearing in-line in the body of the email and do not show as attachments on Windows.
I am attaching the 2 images by clicking the paper clip on the new mail message and browsing to the image location to select them. I am selecting both images and they appear in-line in my outgoing message and as attachments. I have checked the 'Send Windows Friendly' box. The Windows recipient can only see the in-line images.
Am I doing something wrong?

Was having the same issue and found this on another forum and it worked like a charm!

Open Terminal in Applications>Utilities and paste the below code in. Then hit return.
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing 1
To reverse the setting, change the 1 to a 0.
