  • I am suddenly unable to open elements 9 in windows 7.

why is this happening and what do I do?

    Thanks -
That's how I've been doing it since installment.  After I wrote  earlier, I
discovered that patience is its own reward in that PE suddenly had  opened.
Probably 5 minutes.  If it persists, may take it out and  reload.

  • Unable to open raw file editor in PSE8

    Hi,
I have just purchased PSE8 and after installing on my laptop,  I cannot open a camera raw file in the raw file editor. Instead in opens directly in the PSE8 editor.
My software and camera details are as follows: Adobe Photoshop Elements Language Version: 8.0.0 (8.0 (20090905.r.605812))
Operating System: Windows Vista 32-bit  Version: 6.0 Service Pack 2le editor.
My camera is a Nikon D80 and raw files have the extension .NEF
PSE 8 camera raw plugin is version 5.5.0.97
I have tried removing PSE 8 and the plugin as defined in solution 2 at:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407110.html
I did have a trial version of PSE8 installed before purchase, but removed it from my laptop as defined above before installing PSE8.
    Any help appreciated.
    Best regards,
    TonyMV8

Thanks for your reply. I have followed the instructions as defined at: http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-faq.htm#_Problems_open ing_raw and the problem is still there.
I have alos completly removed PSE8 and the associated plugins form my laptop including empting the trash bin and then started reloaded PSE8, but hte end result does not change anything.
You asked how I was opening a raw file, well what I am doing is as follows:
    1. I open PSE8 from my desktop.
    2. Select 'Edit' and PSE8 Editor opens.
    3. Select 'File' then 'Open'
    4. Highlight a 'NEF' with 'Files of type: set to 'All Formats' and select 'Open' ( I have also tried changing the 'All formats' to raw files, but this does not change anything).
    5. The raw file opens within PSE8, and not the raw editor.
At stage 5 on my desktop PC running under XP in PSE8, the raw editor appears as per below.
    Any thoughts and ideas appreciated.
    Best regards,
    TonyMV8

If you are using Vista, try right clicking the shortcut and selecting Run As Administrator.
Otherwise, I would try a repair or a reinstall.

  • Unable to open Tiff in editor

    PSE 9
    Windows 7 64 bit
I sporadically receive the error " could not complete your request because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered" when trying to open layered .tif files in the pse editor. These are all files that never had problems on my older machine with XP pse 7. It is only affecting some of my files and does not seem to be based on size. All files (problematic and not) are stored on an external hd that is always turned on before booting the pc and never turned off before. Any ideas on what to do?

This is a windows setting not an internet setting. It relates to user account privileges. So I must disagree.
And you don't see permanently loosening permissions as relevant to security concerns??

In this thread you recommended “Run As Administrator” which circumvents the original user account settings; so you seem to be contradicting yourself.
You misunderstand the relation of "Run as administrator" and user account settings.  But thanks for your participation in the forums, anyway.  Just a word of caution to folks who've been monitoring this discussion:  run away from any reccommendation to permanently weaken your security.

  • Unable to open Elements due to date change

I'm running PE6 on Windows XP.
I recently tried to reuse it after a long while, but all I got was the editing space with a white blank box in the middle (which usually holds the info about registration etc) which won't close so I can't use the program.
How do I get to use the program again?
I suspect this might have something to do with a date change. My Pc battery run out and I had to reset the date manually everytime by going into the registry a number of times before I replaced the battery.
    Thanks in advance for help

Try browsing to the program file and look in the Adobe folder and then the PSE 6.0 folder
PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe is about 29mb in size
Right click and select open and see if that works.

  • Problems launching Elements 11 Editor

Hi, Is anyone else having a problem opening elements 11 editor? It only appears to have been happening since the advert for elements 12 has come up.
All I get is a Runtime Error! message, stating This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Andaleeb,
Many thanks for your reply... I lost patience with it yesterday and uninstalled and reinstalled it which seems to have cleared the problem for now.
I don't really know too much about computers, but I have an older version of Adobe Elements also installed on this computer and I was wondering if maybe that has been interfering with launching Elements 11 Editor?
Anyway, Thanks again for your advice.... I've made a note of it ..... so if it happens again I'll try your way of correcting it.

  • I downloaded and paid for Photoshop Elements 13.  I am unable to open the editor at all.

I downloaded, and paid for, Photoshop Elements 13.  At first I was able to open the editor only when I made an adaption to the Task Manager Processes(at the recommendation of one of the forums) but now I am unable to open the editor at all.

Can you try opening Editor directly from the exe available at:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 13\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe
If it still does not open, are you seeing an error message when you try to open Editor?
    Thanks,

  • I am unable to open Organizer or Photo Editor this morning of elements 12 and don't know why.

I am unable to open Organizer or Photo Editor in elements 12 this morning and don't know why.  Any ideas??

    OK,
Good to hear that you are running at the moment.
The causes for organizer and the editor to stop working are usually different. For both to be affected, I would tend to suspect disk space problems. Probably a good idea to check that you have plenty of free space.
Please let us know if you have problems again and we can try troubleshooting.

  • Unable to open scanned Kaiser Baas jpeg files in Photoshop Elements 6

I have scanned photos and negatives using Kaiser Baas Photo & Negative scanner.  I am unable to open the jpeg files produced using Photoshop Elements 6, any advice on how to?

I don't seem to have any trouble opening the file in pse 6 on windows xp.
I'd reset the pse 6 editor preferences and see if that makes a difference.
Press and hold Shift+Ctrl+Alt just after starting the launch of the pse 6 editor
Keeping holding down the keys until you get a dialog asking if you want to delete the photoshop elements settings file
    Press Yes in that dialog

  • Adobe Premier Elements Video Editor will not open

I just installed version 12 of Adobe Premier Elements on my Windows 7 (64) system and am unable to open Video Editor.  I receive a message that the display driver is not current and a newer version would make the program run more efficiently.  After some time, the video editor stops trying to load.  I have verified all windows updates are loaded and that I have the most current Quicktime version.  I have also unloaded and reloaded Adobe Premier Elements but this issue continues to persist.  Please assist.

    1.     What is your video card's/chip's make and model?
AMD Radeon HD 8730M, Intel Graphics HD 4000
There have been discussions here about problems with Premiere Elements and a dual video card set up.

What happens if you disable the Intel Graphics HD 4000 and just work with the AMD video card?
This is one of John T. Smith's and Hunt's favorite subjects. So we should be hearing from them soon. Meanwhile their presence can be felt in the link that I have referenced on this subject of dual video cards.

  • Unable to open CR2 files elements 10

I know this problem has been disscussed on multiple occassions but i am completely baffled.
Recently elements has been unable to open any new CR2 files saying they are the wrong file type. The reason i am baffled is when i bought the software (month or two ago) i could open and edit CR2 files successfully, now elements can't open any of the recent CR2 files taken and will only open certain CR2 files that i have had stored on my computer, all of which previously worked.
The Camera RAW plugin is up todate (6.6) and i have tested the SD card in another computer and worked fine. I have tried different cables in my computer and other computers in case the cable was the problem and they seem to check out fine. I have manually downloaded the plug in and checked if the plug in patch was in the correct folder, which it is, as well as re-installing the programme all to no success.
I just cant understand why the problem has started now after originally working fine. Can anyone provide some advice?

    Hi,
I connect to the PC by cable. I have checked the Canon codecs and it appears to be up to date.
The photos seem to transfer to the computer fine (they at least appear on the computer, with the icon showing a preview of the image)  the problem is opening them in the editor.
I shoot in RAW and JPEG and i am able to open and edit all the JPEGs.
As you say the 1000D has been supported for some time and a couple of months ago when i bought elements i was able to edit the RAW files, the problem has occurred in the last month which is the strange thing.
I cant see the cable being the problem seeing as all the JPEGs open fine, and i have used the cable to connect other cameras up to the computer with no problem.

  • Elements 10 Editor error on File / Open iPhoto Library folder

We have Installed PSE 10 and properly associated iPhoto to use PSE Editor.  When we open iPhoto, we can click a photo, click on Edit.. and the photo appears for editing within the PSE Editor.  This part is GOOD.
Our problem is that we don't use iPhoto, and would prefer to open the Editor directly, click on FILE / OPEN... go to our iPhoto library, double click.. and select photos from that pathway.  Instead, the iPhoto folder does NOT open.. and we get the error:
"Could not complete your request because of a program error."
We have reinstalled PSE twice, and the same problem occurs.
Are we doing something wrong, or does PSE Editor NOT work to open the iPhoto folder?
    Thank you for your help!

When you have imported you images into iPhoto, they are placed in your Library. The library is a special type of folder, similar to a ZIP or other compressed format. Photoshop Elements is unable to open this compressed directory, which is why you get the error. Basically, you need to get your images out of iPhoto and into a normal folder. You can do this by pulling your iPhoto library into the Organizer (File > Get Photos and Vidoes > From iPhoto).
