Unable to open folder - greyed out?

I seem unable to open a folder that I copied over from my Windows machine. The look of it is slightly greyed out, as if the folder were being copied still, but I know that it is not.
Does anyone have any idea of why this might be and what I can do to fix it?
I was able to open it just fine on my windows machine, but now am unable to open it in snow leopard.

no error message, no nothing. just nothing happens. its quite odd.
I found a work around though, albeit a bit of an odd one...for anyone reading this that has the same problem - I made an "alias" of the folder in question, then was able to load the folder by loading the alias (only once though, wouldn't load a 2nd time), then copy all the info from the folder into a new folder.
voila you have access to the folder now.
an odd way to do it, but I couldn't find any other way of getting access.
edit: seems it might have been due to copying a write-protected file over from Windows XP

Why can i not open downloads on my galaxy 10.1 (open is greyed out)

I have downloaded several program extensions, like seo quake on my galaxy tab 10.1 and while they appear under my firefox downloads i cannot open them. Firefox has the open tab greyed out only showing the uninstall and go to site option.
Any suggestions would ne appreciated.

If the Open button is greyed, then maybe its because after the download finished, you changed the file's location (moved the file to some other location) from where it was originally saved at the time you were downloading that file.

Home Folder greyed out/Can't access home folder

I'm completely unable to view my home folder after a fresh install of mountain lion. I copied my user folder over and created a new user based on that folder. As you can see it will only show me the large home icon instead of my column view. It is able to be accessed from other views however... it's not consistent. There seems to be a huge finder issue with this user. I've also made a test user and everything over there works fine so it's only on this side.
Here is what it looks like from the other user:
Still greyed out... I've tried everything from help from genii at the store to friends who know UNIX well, I've reset ACLs and repaired permissions ot no avail. If you have any ideas for me please lemme know and I'll try them.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Unable to backup iPod (greyed out option)

I have my iTunes library set up to run from an external HD. At the moment the backup option on File > Devices is greyed out. I've found various solutions that suggest that that backups have been disabled on preferences and it should just be a matter of changing a setting in the run box (http://www.techimperial.com/how-to/disable-itunes-backup-sync/). However, despite doing this, and checking that this is correct in the .xml file, I am still unable to backup my iPod. It doesn't offer the option when I sync it, or try through File > Devices (and there's no options on the iPod summary screen either).
I've also tried the following: updated the iPod software, made sure I'm running the latest version of iTunes (11.3).
Could it be because I'm running iTunes from a library on my external HD? Any suggestions to fix this? I really don't want to have to resort to using the cloud.

That backup feature only applies to iOS devices, iPhone, iPod touch, & iPad. All of the content that goes onto to your iPod nano should already be in your library.

VPC Loses my pcs TWICE! Why? Unable to "migrate" pc (greyed out) How to?

Using VPC 7.02. Installed WIN 2000 and crashed once for reasons unknown. Reinstalled WIN 2k and somehow the PC disappeared from the VPC list! (after running well for about 1 month.) Only thing I can think was that it may have happened when booting from the install disc while trying to verify a new internal hard drive.
So I reinstalled WIN 2K however I am unable to mirate th old pc using the migate data tool. I do see a "Windows 2000" in the user>documents>Virtual PC list>Windows 2000, but it is greyed out. How do I recover it?

I'm not able to open folder INBOX when connected to mail server. When trying, it throws MethodNotSupportedException: open. My code, which is just the same to others that run fine, is:

i discovered what happenned.
we use pop3 for retrieve messages and whit pop3 only one Folder object (inbox folder) may be openned, if you tried to open another folder MethodNotSupportedException is thrown

Unless you have a utility that will let you R/W NTFS they as noted - reformat to a +HFS file system - aka -
Mac OS Extended (Journaled) - using Disk Utility.
The Mac OS can read/write +HFS and FAT 32 but can only read NTFS.

Unable to open folder aliases

I discovered a strange thing with both Keynote 06 and 08. Launch one of them, open an existing file and try to open an alias of a folder. For me at least, aliases are not available in the open window.
Do you have the same behavior?

Unable to open folder view after loging in ID

Hi , I am using SAP PI 1.7, after loging in to Integration Directory I am trying to change my veiw to folder view , but receiving the below error, ay idea how to resolve this??

Cannot open folder files in browser window

Since the last 5 or so firefox update, i notice i am unable to open folder
files in the browser window on most of the websites i
have been on. Therefore if i need to upload a file on a website
when i click the open folder button on the website, i am
not seeing the folder window open with all my files on my
computer that i need to select. Instead i have to use another
browser to do all my uploads, and that breaks my momentum.

Cannot open folder foldername

hi,
a customer of mine has removed a folder in apple mail, in an imap account on a postfix server. something happened during the renaming and somehow some subfolders cannot be opened anymore from apple mail.
i've tried configuring that user accounts on 2 different computers, but when i open one of these folders, apple mail is showing an empty box. if i mouse over the folder there is a message saying 'unable to open folder foldername'.
i've checked on the email server and the mails are there. if i open webmail i can display the emails and work with them normally. i was also able to display them with thunderbird and outlook.
however i've had no luck with apple mail. nothing interesting showing in activity monitor, i don't see anything interesting either in the logs of the mail server.
any idea on how i can find what is wrong there?
there are also 100 hundreds of folders under the folder that has been renamed that are still working fine.
any idea is welcome.

Godaddy support came through. I had to enter the ftp address as ftp.domainname/foldername rather than putting the folder name in the "what folder on the server do you want to store your files in?"

Firefox 4.01 downloads files but the downloads windows greys out the "Open" and "Open containing folder" options and I can't trace the files

Three days ago I upgraded to Firefox 4.01. I downloaded several files that were ok. Yesterday and today I downloaded one powerpoint file and a an apple *.dmg file.
On the Download window these two files I can see with the total mb in size. However when I right click the file list in the Download window the "Open" and "Open containing folder" options are greyed out. What is more I cannot find these files anywhere on my computer when I use Windows Explorer to search.
It seems that this happened after I tried to download a Firefox add on from http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/addons/64761/amazonassist-0.7.2.6-fx.xpi and my antivirus picked up the JS/Kryptik.AK trojan and terminated the connection. Is there a link with the problem I am experiencing?
I use Windows 7 professional, Firefox 4.01

I am unable to open a new tab in Firefox 16.0.2 - clicking the + does noting and the "New Tab" option is greyed out.

Unable to open new tabs - "+" button does nothing, "New Tab" option is greyed out in "File" menu and keyboard shortcut doesn't work either.
