Unable to open new trial .mac account

Hi, I'm new to mac & not very computer savvy. I opened a trial .mac account 2 weeks ago. When I try to open the mail its very slow to download and just before its completed the computer freezes. I get glimpses of my mail but the page is incomplete.
Help I'm ready to throw myself in the lake.

Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list. Try also turning OFF all the network port configurations except the one needed to connect to Internet and see whether that makes a difference — if it doesn’t, turn ON again the ones you want enabled.
Finally, try launching Mail under the following conditions (you may need to force quit it first if it’s running) and post back with your observations:
1. Holding the Shift key down until the main window appears. This tells Mail to not select any mailboxes or load any messages upon start up.
2. With no Internet connection.

  • Photocasting with trial .mac account

    I am trying to photocast an album using a trial .mac account. Each time I get a message saying it doesn't recognize my user name or password and directs me to system preferences for .mac.
    that name and password are correct. is this a problem because I only have a trial account? I also can't sync to a .mac account.

    I too am having this very same problem. Have you found out how to fix this yet? I cannot sync with my Powerbook laptop or my .Mac account either. It also shows no registered computers when I know I've registered 3 of them. We pay alot of money to have the .Mac account and right now it is USELESS. VERY FRUSTRATED right now!

    I am unable to open new tabs when I click on File then Open New Tab or press the + button.

    Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
    There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
    * Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
    * Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons

  • Is the email password issue related to my canceled trial .mac account?

    Guys,
    I thought this might be something. My trial .mac account expired and I have been getting password issues ever since. I thought having a mac email account was indefinite, however after speaking with CS, they said an expired .mac account and password issues were correlated.
    So, for those with ongoing password issues, am I assuming these people who are having password issues have an *active* .mac account? Apologies for the newb/green question.
    P.S. I am able to retrieve gmail on my account.

    If you've got your .Mac account set up in Mail and the account has expired, that'd be why you're getting password prompts. .Mac email accounts expire with the account--they're not free. Remove the .Mac account from Mail (or pay for it) and the problem should go away.

    it twice
    that is why it's named "...sit.1" and not "...sit"

  • I am unable to open new tabs, in any way I attempt to do so. I have checked the settings and they are fine, so it's not those. The only way I can open a new tab is to right click on a link and instruct it to open in a new tab.

    Any way I attempt to open new tabs, be it clicking on the new tab button or using the short-cut Ctrl-t, I am unable to open any new tabs on my browser window.
    The only way I have found that I can open a new tab is to right-click on a link and instruct that link to open in a new window.

    Try disabling the Ask Toolbar extension.

  • I am unable to open my Red Box account. I get the message "unknown API error."

    I switched to Fire Fox because of slowness and other issues with Internet Explorer. Fire Fox is much better, with one exception. I can't open my Red Box account.   • GNOME in failsafe and unable to open new windows

    Since yesterday, I have many crash in GNOME Shell. The display goes in a kind of failsafe mode (very simple graphics and effects) after some time and I am quickly enable to open new windows after the start of gdm.
    I'd have posted a screenshot but I'm not able to do it.
    When I try to open a new window in a terminal it fails, seems like an error with the display
    $ epiphany

    I have the Xorg or opened windows process which take way too much CPU than the usual. For example Firefox easily blocks during a few minutes and I have errors related to a script in an extension which does not run.
    Here is my ~/.xsession-errors file
    I have not made any configuration change lately except the usual updates. I have to restart GDM each time it happens.
    Any idea what is causing that ?

    You mean the graphical card ? I have a nVidia GeForce 8400M GS.

    What the heck did I do??
    I use my .mac account on my iMac, and my wife use's her AIM account on the macBook, and we use iChat alot when I travel. Last week I set up "sync" using my .Mac account, and sync'd the 2 computers, now when we open iChat on either mac, they both open in my account, and my wife shows up on both computers as a "buddy",
    How do I redo it, so my wife aim account opens on hers, so we can chat?

    Ok , followed what you suggested
    "highlight your account and untick "use this account" I did that, but that account and one that says "Bonjour" are the only accounts there, my wife account does not show up to select, and my .Mac account has a blue ball "sync" ? next to it, how can I add her account to use.
    when I do the same on the iMac, the same thing shows

  • IChat is unable to connect using a .Mac account

    Hello,
    I have tried to connect using iChat and a .Mac account (no, I do not have an AIM membership and am only a .Mac member).
    When I tried to add a friend to the buddy list (there are only Bonjour and AIM lists available, but I'm a member of neither), the AIM list simply says "connecting..." but the connection never completes. I've sometimes waited for hours for the connection.
    At this moment, the settings in the iChat program are:
    server: slogin.oscar.aol.com
    port: 5190
    Use SSL is checked.
    I also tried login.oscar.aol.com, port 5190, and left the SSL option unchecked. Neither method works at all. Is there a reason it won't connect to the server? Also, why does it use an AOL server? Do they host .Mac accounts?

    Same problem here... I haven't been able to get iChat to work in days. I have tried changing to port 443 and my password is perfectly acceptable etc but it hangs on "connecting" and then just disconnects or gives me the message "connection could not be completed because it timed out"
    nothing on my end has been changed in years but Apple was working on system maintenance a few days ago and that is when I lost iChat. The .Mac system status message area says"Due to scheduled maintenance, 100% of members could not access .Mac services. Normal service has been restored." but that is obviously bunk. I am not the only one... a friend of mine locally has the same issue. I think someone at apple has screwed something up!
