Unable to open Password protected Document I created

Adobe Acrobat X Pro 10.0 is the program i am using.
I have forgotton or put in the password incorrectly when i created a large very important document. Is there a way that i can get into this document, as i am the creator? I am unable to opent the document without the appropriate password. Please help. I am on a time line and beginning to panic!
Thank you!

This would be the ordinary backups you make of your computer and files, to protect you against the computer being broken or stolen, or files being accidentally deleted, or passwords lost. Many people don't make backups, but that is not a good plan.

  • Unable to open password protected PDF in safari

Dear all, I'm new in using iPhone safari. I have problem in opening password protected PDF file from safari. Do you have any solution or workaround to resolve this problem
    Regards

You can put pretty much any character into the encryption password for a PDF file apart from control codes (carriage returns, backspaces, etc), but whether the vendor's website can is another matter!
As you seem to have a PDF with a user password that isn't what you expected, there's nothing you can do to remove it other than perhaps trying a version without the quote characters, or with a backslash in front of the quote (it's possible they escaped the string on the login form in preparation for storing it in a database, and forgot to unescape it again).

  • Safari unable to open password protected websites

I reported this bug using the bug report button on the Safari toolbar three beta version ago, and as the bug hasn't been fixed yet, I'm beginning to wonder if these bug reports actually go anywhere, especially as I once sent a "bug report" when I was not even connected to the internet and was told that the message had been sent successfully!
When I go to for example www.ofcomswindlecomplaint.net/dev/, it asks me for my username and password, and then when I submit the correct username and password, the dialog disaapears momentarily and then reappears with a message saying they were invalid - but they are not invalid, and I can log in to the site in any browser other than Safari.
Is there any way of ensuring this issue is seen by the developers? As I say, I have reported it three times via the bug report button but those bug reports seem to have gone into a black hole.

Safari has no problem with the site - if I remove the password protection Safari has no problems. It's IIS-based standard password protection that Safari isn't compatible with. And it's Safari Windows that is the problem, not the site - no other browser has any problem with it. It's a Safari bug and my question was how I can ensure that the developers are aware of it, given that the bug reports button on the Safari toolbar seems to go into a black hole.

PDF documents should read easily in the Preview application, or Adobe Acrobat Reader for the Mac:
    https://get.adobe.com/reader/
Word and Excel documents can be read by any of these Office clone software titles listed on my tip:

If they don't open, then they probably aren't proper files, or saved by a newer version of the software than you have.

  • Adobe Reader not recognizing the (correct) password on a password protected document

I have been opening password protected documents with Adobe Reader for months. My client just changed the password, and now, using the correct new password (I'm positive it's the correct password because I can open it on other computers, and no, my caps lock isn't on, and I've tried numerous times so it's not that I'm typing it incorrectly), Adobe is saying that the password is incorrect. Any ideas? I was thinking perhaps because I am on a Mac, or maybe because I have Adobe Reader and not the full version it isn't working... any help much appreciated!

Reader should be fine. you don't need to full version to open password protected documents and a Mac doesn't make any difference either.
Fist thing to be sure of is that it's actually Reader opening the docs and not Mac Preview (or something else).
If it is, maybe try having them assign a different password. A more simplistic one just to see if you can open it.

    Hi noswam123,
If a PDF file is password protected, the only way to open that document is with the password. You will have to get that password from the person who created the PDF.

  • Acrobat XI Pro for OSX can't open password-protected pdfs created using Acrobat 9 Pro for Windows

I am having problems opening password-protected files created on a PC using Acrobat 9 Pro.  I am running a MacBook Pro OSX 10.8.4 with Acrobat XI Pro.  When I attempt to enter the password when prompted, a dialogue box pops up saying that I've entered the incorrect password.  After many attempts, I am certain that the password entered is correct -- this is reinforced by the fact that i am able to open the same document using Mac's Preview software.
    Any assistance would be appreciated!
    Thanks.

I was suddenly having the same problem in Acrobat XI Pro for Windows (recently upgraded to CC from Acrobat X).  For the past while I've sometimes had to use the "insert from file" tool to get a page added from another file.  I couldn't figure out why dragging sometimes would no longer work, but was too busy to go looking for a solution until tonight.
The solution was given by JoshTatum24 above. Switch from a scrolling page display to single page display.  Now I can drag pages between documents again.  THANK YOU Josh!
Oh, and CORREAdmin,  it does not matter whether the hand or arrow selection tool is active, my mouse pointer is always an arrow when positioned in the page thumbnails panel.  Switching selection tools does not make a difference in dragging, but switching between scrolling and single page display definitely DOES make the difference.

  • To open a password protected ,Apple works created file in pages

When I tried to open a password protected .cwk file created using Apple works 6 in the Pages of iwork'08 I get a message that the ile cannot be imported as it is password protected and it doesnot give an open to enter the password. Unfortunately i donot have Appleworks 6 in my machine. However I am able to open all the other files of the same format which are not password protected.
Can any one help me out?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Try icWord from Panergy Software. It has been known to open password protected files. You could then copy & paste into your Pages document or save as an AppleWorks 6 document again using a different name. You can download a fully-functional demo from the web site.

  • HT3345 How do I open a password protected excel file created on a PC?  I get a message that the "file is encrypted and can't be opened"

How do I open a password protected excel file created on a PC in numbers 09, on a MacBook Air?  I get a message that the "file is encrypted and can't be opened"

This is actually not true; I support users who are doing this w/ Excel 2011 (v14.2.2+) for Mac and Windows users w/ Excel 2003 & 2007.  Win users are from finance dept, and who have pasword-protected various budget files.  The Mac users are (surprise) "creative" users, who enter pw to unlock and edit these budget files.
These files are shared from a Mac server (running 10.6.8 server), and I do have an erratic problem where all users have read-only access to these pw-protected Excel files.  The manual work-around has been to copy the troublesome file(s) and confirm users have full access again.  I also do a shuffling of filenames, so that the new, working file has original file name.
FYI: the Mac server POSIX and ACL permissions are correct, and don't appear to be source of the problem.
It's easy an SMB file-locking issue or concurrent users trying to edit these files.  I keep reminding them that Excel is not a database!

  • I cannot open password protected PDF document with attachments with Adobe Reader on OS X. Crashes.

I cannot open password protected PDF document having attachments on my OS X (v 10.8.4) with Adobe Reader X nor XI. The reader crashes. The same document using the same password opens fine on the laptop and Windows systems wheni it is fetched from a secure mail server. Why?

  • "Import Error" opening password-protected .pptx document

    Hi,
It seems Keynote '08 has some difficulty opening a PowerPoint 2007 document which has been password protected. Unhelpfully, it only suggests 'import error' rather than something more meaningful.
I've saved the same document without its password, and Keynote opens it just fine (albeit with the usual warnings about missing fonts).
Is this expected behaviour, or a bug to be fixed? Password-protected documents (however weak the protection) are the norm around here, so Keynote is going to be a bit of a handbrake...
    Cheers,
    Simon

No, unless there is a third party viewed which can handle the passwords. The in-built viewer is a simple viewer and doesn't support password protected documents at all.
Have a search through the Appshopper website to see if there is something better.

It was tricky sorting out the actual questions in your post. I think the other poster has one question in hand, here's the other:

  • Opening a password protected document by PDDocOpenEx()

    Hello,
I need to open password protected PDF files in my application (not an Acrobat or Reader plug-in). I have the Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard installed in my computer. I found on the web that it can be done by calling the PDDocOpenEx() function. What I want ask is:
Is PDDocOpenEx() implemented in Acrobat 9 SDK or do I have to purchase Adobe PDF Library SDK?
Is there an example (or at least a Visual Studio project template to see what libraries must be included in the project?)
    Thanks in advance.

If you want to open PDF files in your own application w/o the need for Acrobat or Reader present, then you need the Adobe PDFLibrary - that's what it does is add PDF functionality to your application.
