Unable to open PDF in Adobe XI
I am unable to open certain PDF files in Adobe XI. We're using Windows 8.1. Any ideas?
Do you get these "certain" pdf's from the same place or is there anything else they may have in common?
Are they on your computer or are you trying to open them from a browser? If a browser, which one? What exactly happens when you try and open them?
And since it's Windows 8 I have to ask whether you are sure that Reader is attempting to open these pdf files and not the built in default windows Reader app?

If it is a regular .pdf file, try asking on the Adobe Reader forum.
If it is an Adobe DRM .pdf file, try opening using a copy of Digital Editions authorized with the correct ID the book is licensed to. -

Firefox is unable to open pdf files even with adobe reader
i am unable to open pdf documents with firefox . i have installed latest version of adobe reader for firefox but still i am having problem. older versions of mozilla do not have this problem
Try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] If it functions correctly, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.

Adobe Reader 11 is unable to open PDF's from Internet Explorer 11
My boss is currently operating on the Adobe Reader 11 and often needs to use Internet Explorer 11 for certain programs.
Unfortunately the Adobe Reader is unable to open PDFs from Internet Explorer and often comes up with a message telling us that the file is either damaged, no longer exists or that there is a problem with the syntax. She does not have this problem with Google Chrome. We have tried several ideas regarding the security settings but nothing seems to correct the problem. Could someone shed some light on how to fix this error? -

Unable to open PDF files or Adobe Reader
I am unable to opern adobe reader or download a ner version of adobe reader.
Apparently the original software download was corrupt. I tried to
"change" it through the add and delete software area of Windows, and re-installed
the software. That seemed to work. Debating on whether to upgrade to one
of their other products. I could certainly use fillable forms, signature,
and modifiable documents.
Thank you for responding.

Unable to open documents in Adobe Reader 9.4 - showing as not 'currently installed'?
Hi,
This problem has been driving me crazy all day...
I installed the patch to opgrade Adobe Reader 9.3 into 9.4 this morning; as soon as I did I was unable to open PDFs, getting an error message along the lines of "you are not authorised to view this". To try and resolve this, I uninstalled reader and installed it again directly from the Adobe website.
I'm now getting the following error:
"This action (i.e. opening the file) is only valid for products that are currently installed".
I uninstalled and reinstalled twice more, same issue.
I have tried repairing the installation in Adobe. To clarify, I can't double click/right click open PDFs. However, if I drop them onto the Adobe Desktop icon they open normally. I am also unable to open PDFs which are attached to emails without dropping them on desktop, then dropping them on Adope icon.
I'm using 64 bit Windows 7, and it is my work desktop that is affected.
Does anyone have any advice?Hi Ankit,
Thank you for your advice, but Im still having problems.
Back to the OP. To avoid the threads getting confused, I suggest the other user starts a new one?
I have tried ensuring that PDFs are automatically opened by Adobe. I used the path you suggested. However, I'm still having the same problem.
When I went to do this, Adobe was listed in the "recommended" list of products with which to open PDF files. However, I ignored this and followed your guidance. Once I had done, nothing happened (i.e. Adobe icon was not added to the 'Other products' list below the 'Recommended').
To me, this speaks of either a bad installation or bad association in which something is causing Adobe not to recognise itself.
What else can you advise?
Is there, for instance, a way to have a clean removal of Adobe, and then reinstall? I don't even know if this will work. -
Unable to open PDF in Web Browser and delay for printing
In my LAN, on several PCs running with Windows 7 (32 and 64 bits), I observe two problems with "Acrobat Reader XI":
- Delays / unable to open pdf files in the web browser (Internet Explorer).
- Delays in printing: for example it takes over 8 minutes to print a pdf file: 400kB for two pages (on different printers / models).
Here's the list of actions that I've allready tried to issue those problems:
For the Web Browser problem :
- Repair the "Acrobat Reader XI" installation.
- Uninstalling and Installing Acrobat Reader.
- In the web browser, disabling and activating the add-on (Adobe PDF Reader).
- Uninstall "Acrobat Reader XI" and install "Acrobat Reader X"
Temporary issue: downgrade to "Acrobat Reader 9", which solves the problem with the web browser.
For the printing delay:
- Repair the "Acrobat Reader XI" installation
- Change the printers drivers (install Universal Drivers PCL)
- Check the box: "Print As Image" before printing
Any Idea ?You can get that error if there is still an old Adobe Reader plugin in the plugins folder in the Firefox program folder.
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\nppdf32.dll

UNABLE TO OPEN PDF ATTACHMENTS IN E-MAIL
Over the past week,I have been unable to open PDF attachments in my AOL webmail. I encounter no problems with my Outlook Express e-mail. Why is this suddenly happening and how can I correct the problem?
To make sure that Adobe Reader is default,
goto Edit->Preferences->Select default PDF Handler. Check the value in the dropdown list "Select Adobe product". If the first value which appears is 'Adobe ReaderX', then Reader X is the default PDF Handler.
Also please let me know the OS you are using.
Is the problem also faced in AOL webmail with any other Adobe Product(like Acrobat X, Reader 9 etc.) if you are using/used any of them?
Thanks,
