Unable to open personal folder default

Recently, Microsoft Outlook displays a message "Unable to open personal folder default", pressing buttons <OK> outlook closes. But if you move the Outlook.pst file when you start outlook can't find a personal folder file, and asks for help.
Shows him to move files and outlook works fine, but before the first shutdown. Then, after another run outlook again it can not open the personal folders used by default. Maybe try some pst file reader? Tried to reinstall the office - nothing.

Well. Does the DL have more than 5000 contacts in it? If so, that may cause a problem due to Exchange's 5000 recipient limit for sent emails.
Where is personal distrubution list stored in your scenario? Stored in OST and sync with mailbox, or backup in the local PST file?
If other contact groups and contacts can be opened just fine, it seems the issue may occur if the problematic contact groups is corrupted itself.
You can take a chance to open it via MFCMAPI tool. If it even cannot be open, I think it cannot be recovered unless we do a single mailbox recovery.

Hi,
Are you logged in with an admin account? If the answer is no, log into the admin account go into the system preferences under the 'Sharing' section you will need to change the File sharing options.
Alternatively if you are logged in as an admin try restarting your computer and see if the issue still persists.

Unable to open Applications folder

I am unable to open my Applications folder and my Pictures folder. When I click on either one of them, this box pops up: "There is no default application specified to open the document Applications (or Pictures, if that is the folder I'm clicking on)." In other words, it appears that the system thinks the Applications and Pictures folders are documents. I can access the contents of these two folders by clicking on "Show Package Contents." I have checked many other folders, and they all open normally. I've also run repair permissions in Disk Utility, but that has not helped. I would appreciate any suggestions to correct this issue.

When this has happened in the past what happened is the bundle bit got set on some folder it shouldn't have been. As to WHY that happened, I don't think anyone ever figured it out. If one has installed Xcode I know you can easily check on the bundle bit and reset it. Sometimes Apple has the necessary tools installed without Xcode: you need GetFileInfo and SetFile, which might be in /usr/bin if Apple is installing them by default in Snow Leopard (I used to put them online as a public service, that may not be necessary now).
To check to see if the bundle bit is set you use GetFileInfo in Terminal:
GetFileInfo ~/Pictures
Pressing return after typing the above will return the following:

In this case the bundle bit is NOT set (lower case "b") although the custom icon is. If the attributes shows
avBstclinmedz
as it sounds to me like it would, then the bundle bit is set and can be changed using the SetFile command:
SetFile -a b ~/Pictures
The situation is a bit trickier if the root level, main Application folder also has the bundle bit set, since that folder belongs to the system. One would have to run the command using sudo.

Hi, I'm new here and having a problem with my Thunderbird, so wondered if you could please help me?
Within Thunderbird I have many folders created in my left pane for the storage of business mail relevant to my work, which I need to keep for my customer records on a long term basis, so that i have all the info of what has been discussed. The total file of Thunderbird is - 819,717kb in size when backed up.
This has been fine until recently, when after trying to open one folder it is mostly frozen, on one occassion the folder opened but showed the lines of mail but no subjects, writing or dates to identify each line.
I have tried going into properties to repair the file, but that freezes too. I have also looked into users/'relevant folder'/AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/'relevant file' and removed the .msf files - but this has made no difference at all.
If someone has any ideas this would be appreciated.

If they are 72 character they are probably not corruption.

Create a new folder and select it.
Point the import export tools as the file through import of an MBOX file (that is it's file type) and see if it can import from the file. There is more than one type of MBOX file and the import tools appear to read through some issues Thunderbird can not.
The Import Export tools appear on the Tools menu (alt+T) once installed

Unable to open Downloads folder- Finder keeps crashing Lion OSx

Just upgraded to Lion OSx a few days ago and all of a sudden, I cannot open my Downloads folder without Finder crashing on me.
I've managed to drag the downloads folder out onto my dock to view in Fan mode so I can access some files but everytime I attempt to open the files in Finder, the whole thing just lags/crashes/rainbow wheels.
Should I try the sudo find / -name .DS_Store -delete command? Some forums I checked says Mac forgets the settings in a few days and reverts back. I'm regretting upgrading to Lion.

Unable to open personal contact list Outlook 2010

Error when opening a personal contact list. To my knowledge it has not been edited in a newer version of Outlook as we all use Outlook 2010. Even tried restoring from 6 month old backup when it was supposed to have worked. Any ideas how
to get past this?

Unable to open folder - greyed out?

I seem unable to open a folder that I copied over from my Windows machine. The look of it is slightly greyed out, as if the folder were being copied still, but I know that it is not.
Does anyone have any idea of why this might be and what I can do to fix it?
I was able to open it just fine on my windows machine, but now am unable to open it in snow leopard.

no error message, no nothing. just nothing happens. its quite odd.
I found a work around though, albeit a bit of an odd one...for anyone reading this that has the same problem - I made an "alias" of the folder in question, then was able to load the folder by loading the alias (only once though, wouldn't load a 2nd time), then copy all the info from the folder into a new folder.
voila you have access to the folder now.
an odd way to do it, but I couldn't find any other way of getting access.
edit: seems it might have been due to copying a write-protected file over from Windows XP

Can not open download folder in Finder after update to OS X Lion

Hi there. I have recently upgraded to OS X Lion. The upgrade was smooth. But since the upgrade I am unable to open Download folder in Finder. If I select Download in Finder's sidebar nothing happens. Finder won't display content of Download folder. If I go and select Home folder in sidebar, Finder displays content of my Home folder including Download. If I double click Download folder to access it nothing happens again. Cant access it. But if expand download folder using triangle next to it, Finder will expand me Download folder and show it's content...
I tried to verify and repair my permissions with Disk Utility, but did not solve my issuel. It is very frustrating scenario, since Download folder is something I access every day multiple times.
Any ides what can I do?

I found a solution that worked for me. Seems like my firewall did not accept the afp connection permissions anymore after installing lion... Since everything worked well turning off the firewall.
So if you don't want to keep your firewall disactivated here is what worked for me:
- Leave your firewall activated.
- Turn OFF afp file sharing in the sistem prefs
- Restart your Machine
- Turn ON afp file sharing
- You should now get a message if you want to accept afp connections...
- click YES
Seems like this resets somehow the afp permissions in the firewall settings
Everything fine on my network now.

Error while promote Personal Folder reports

Dear Experts,
I have tried to promote my personal folder reports to QA system from DEV, got error as "Must create object under it's defined root folder"
The details:
Its SAP account, BI4.1 SP02 Patch2, So why I'm unable to promote personal folder reports to another environment?
Please advice that any setting to be apply or need to select any dependents.

I think it is not possible to promote personal folders in BI 4.0 SP02. This feature is added in BI 4.0 SP05 onwards. Please refer below KBA.

Unable to delete default Personal Folder from Microsoft Outlook

I have configure my IMAP a/c in Microsoft Outlook, it's successfully done. However it's shows TWO a/c, First One is my earlier OLD POP account (Personal Folder) & Second is IMAP which newly created. I need set default my IMAP DATA File, but it's not
allowing me to default my IMAP DATA File. I need to remove existing (OLD) DATA File, which is currently default. Please advise how i can remove the OLD DATA Path/File & set IMAP Data Path as default.

Hi,
What is your Outlook version? You can't set IMAP folders as default data file in Outlook 2010, you'll need to keep the old POP3 .pst in your profile for calendar and contacts, because IMAP doesn't support calendars and contacts and Outlook needs them in
the default data file.
In Outlook 2013, you should be able to make the IMAP data file the default.

HT1637 Help! I need to change my default email "Mail" but I am unable to open "Mail" to do it

Hi, I need to change my default browser but not sure how because I am unable to get into my default browser being "Mail". The Mail icon is a piece of paper, pencil, and a ruler instead of that stamp. I believe I moved it out of Applications at one point and then back in.
Please help as I need to send emails through my Quickbooks which automatically uses my default email being "Mail".

Restart your Mac occasionally. Personally, I shutdown my macs every night.

The error messages here seems to be caused by the corrupted registries, which related with the folder association.

Once done, right-click the REG file and choose Merge. Alternately, you can open the Registry Editor and then using the
