  • When I try to open Firefox 4.0 I get an error message saying that it is not a valid Win32 Application. What do I do? I am using Windows XP Sp3

    I downloaded Firefox 4.o exe. When I tried to open it I got an error message stating that it was not a valid Win32 application. I am using windows XP SP3. How do I get it to open?

    [[Firefox is already running but is not responding]] has steps that you can try. It sounds like you may have something that is hanging your browser on exit (probably an extension or a locked profile) and the steps on that page should help clear it up.

  • When trying to open documents, getting error as File is not a valid Win32 application

    Hi,
    I am trying to open a MPP by clicking on the name of the file. But I am getting the error as "path\filename.mpp is not a valid Wind32 application".
    I am able to save the document and open it in MPP, but clicking on the document name is giving this error "File is not a valid Win32 application".
    I have tried to repair "Microsoft Project". But still the same issue. I am using Office 2010. SharePoint site is SP 2010.
    How to fix this?
    Thanks

    Hi Ed,
    I am sorry, but I could not understand that answer.
    I have put that answer in the below quotes:
    "You are never going to believe what I did. This is a nice ending to a very confusing situation. lol
    I uninstalled Project 2007 and rebooted my laptop and reinstalled Project 2007. No Difference at all. Same thing happened. I just couldn't stop thinking about how 2007 Microsoft Office Component kept showing up in default programs. This has bugged me for days.
    I went browsing in my program files. I typed in Microsoft Office Project. The only thing I found was WINPROJ. I decided to check it out. I checked it's properties, size, location, etc.. What did I have to lose at this point? I clicked on it and it went into
    my default programs as Microsoft Office Project 2007. This doesn't make any sense to me. But, don't try to fix anything else if it isn't broken, right? It's working and I am so relieved. I mean, YAAAAY!!! Another mystery solved...
    Thanks for hanging in there with me to help solve this mystery. You have been of great assistance to me. You made me think outside the box and it worked.
    Laura"
    Does it mean MPP Should be a 2007 version?
    Thanks

    when i down load a program on firefox i can never open it ...it says it not a valid win32 application
    i down loaded firefox 3.611 threw firefox and thats the erro it gave me and on anyother application i down load it alway tell me this when i go to run it... it not a valid win32 application

    It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
    You can try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

  • "not a valid Win32 application" error ...the post wont open for me

    It seems as if that post is getting some help...and its exactly what i need...but it wont open for me..PLEASE...ANYBODY....this is becoming extremely frustrating...

    I again –just now – uninstalled Adobe Reader 10.1.2 and got an "installation complete and no error codes.  However, as before, attempting to open Adobe Reader with the desktop shortcut results in an “Adobe Reader cannot open in Protected Mode due a problem with your system configuration.  Would you like to open Adobe Reader with Protected Mode disabled?” Regardless of my answer “Open with Protected Mode disabled” or “Do not open with Protected Mode disabled”  the program opens and displays the “C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader\Eula.exe is not a valid Win32 application.
    I am using Adobe Reader 10.1.2, Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 and the 64 bit operating system.
    I cannot find MSI log.

  • When I try to open a downloaded software, a window says exe. is not a valid win32 application

    i downloaded skype update and when I click open a window pops saying C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Downloads\SkypeSetup(1).exe is not a win32 application

    What's the name of the file you are attempting to open?  Is it "ScreenFlow_4.5.2.dmg"?  If it is the correct name then the message is correct and you are attempting to open a file with DMG files extension and not one with a PDF file extension.  Adobe Reader opens PDF files an not any other file type.

  • Unable to open itunes, "itunessetup(1).exe is not a valid Win32 application

    Forgive me if I'm an idiot. I bought my husband an Ipod Shuffle for Xmas. I spent hours downloading the latest itunes only to have an error message pop up at the end that itunessetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application.
    I read another post about people having better luck with older versions of itunes and downloaded 6.0 with no problem, saved a cd on it, and then when i plugged in the Shuffle it gave me an error message that said it would only work with the newest version of itunes. The apple website recognizes that I have already downloaded the new version, but nothing will happen other than the error message. Husband is already saying I should just sell his new shuffle, and I'm feeling stupid that I can't figure it out...can anyone help please? Thank you.
    Celeron 2.0 GHz, 256 mb ram   Windows XP

    THis is a common problem for people downloading itunes on dail up and/or with corrupt versions in there temp folders.
    If you are on dail up, you need to first download and install whats called a "Download manager". These programs will usually make sure the download goes correctly, will start the download where it stops should the connection be lost, and can usually be set to re dail to your internet provider if the connection is lost (Handy for late nights when you goto bed and leave a big download going). Theres quite afew different ones out there usually free, Id recommend looking around on the net and get the one you feel comfortable with using.
    THen you can try the download again.
    Also try emptying your temp folder in your browser

  • I keep getting this message when I try to open Firefox."C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe is not a valid Win32 application" What can I do? I have tried uninstalling and re-install. Ths

    I am running Windows 7 . It happened without any changes being made. I downloaded the install file several different times and even turned off my Kaspersky A/V when I installed.

    Perhaps try downloading and saving a copy of the installer to a different (64-bit) PC. Copy the iTunes64Setup.exe installer to an external hard-drive, or a large-enough thumb drive or burn it to a CD-R. Carry the installer back to your PC, copy the installer to your hard drive. (Don't run the install from the ExHD, thumb or CD-R.) Start the install by doubleclicking the iTunes64Setup.exe file.
    Does that go through any better for you?

  • Can't open FF. Says "firefox.exe is not a valid Win32 application."

    When I click the Mozilla desktop icon, I hear a "beep," and the pop-up with a red "X" says... "firefox.exe is not a valid Win32 application."
    That's as far as I get.

    This suggests that the installer has been damaged during downloading.
    One thing you can try is using a different browser to see if that helps.
    If you are in Australia this has been associated with using a USB Dongle connected to a wireless broadband provider.
    It seems that routers can also cause the problem.
    The simplest thing is to get a friend to download the installer for you and put it on a USB stick. Preferably a copy they know works.

  • Unable to open -- because a document with that type is not found

    Well, i have an italian mac os x based so the program names and the message are reported "as is" in italian language
    My friend Giovanni ask me to solve a puzzle, all the images on a usb key cannot open with Anteprima (the program name in italian). But the thumbnails are ok, and also photoshop open all with no trouble. Usual jpeg images, not cmyk or app masked as image.
    In italian the message is that
    Impossibile aprire il documento "001.JPG" perché non c'è un documento di quel tipo.
    So, the problem was out-of-there, in the Volume names: ETERNITÀ (means eternity in italian) who contains an accented letter À from pc. When i change it's volume name in ETERNITA (no accented letter), all gone ok. Anteprima open all images with no warning.
    BUT ALSO WHEN I RENAME THE USB KEYBOARD in mac writing À as Alt+9 A, Anteprima now open all images with no warning

    Another sample program that triggers this bug is:
    #include <map>
    #include <string>
    class CUserCopyAssign
        public:
            CUserCopyAssign(int a);
            CUserCopyAssign(const CUserCopyAssign &other);
            CUserCopyAssign &operator=(const CUserCopyAssign &other);
            int getA(void) const;
        private:
            int m_A;
    CUserCopyAssign::CUserCopyAssign(int a) : m_A(a)
    CUserCopyAssign::CUserCopyAssign(const CUserCopyAssign &other) : m_A(other.m_A)
    CUserCopyAssign &CUserCopyAssign::operator=(const CUserCopyAssign &other)
        m_A = other.m_A;
        return *this;
    int CUserCopyAssign::getA(void) const
        return m_A;
    int main(int, char **)
        typedef std::map<std::string, CUserCopyAssign> TStrObjMap;
        TStrObjMap aMap;
        CUserCopyAssign obj(7);
        aMap.insert(TStrObjMap::value_type("a", obj));
        return 0;
    When built with:
    CC -std=c++11 -m64 main.cpp
    you get the same error:
    "/opt/SolarisStudio12.4-beta_mar14-solaris-x86/lib/compilers/CC-gcc/include/c++/4.7.2/bits/stl_tree.h", line 139: Error: Using deleted function 'std::pair<const std::string, CUserCopyAssign>::pair(std::pair<const std::string, CUserCopyAssign>&&)'.
    Please can you make sure this case is covered in your regression tests as well as the make_pair example as it will be critical to people trying to compile a mix of old-style C++03 and new-style C++11 code in the same project.

  • Unable to open Sharepoint site with Designer "Folder name is not valid"

    Hi all,
    I'm using SharePoint 2013 with SharePoint Designer 2013, but currently I'm facing a weird behaviour.
    I can open my preproduction SharePoint portal with SharePoint Designer 2013, but when I'm trying to open my production environment, I'm receiving the error "The folder name is not valid". Even it doesn't ask for credentials.
    Anyone knows what is happening?

    There are few other options people used to solve this issue. refer to the following posts if you haven't so far. hope it helps.

  • Unable to Open File / File Error-Wrong Type / This is not a Movie File

    I used TechTools to volume optimize my Lacie external hard drive. After the hard drive had been successfully completed - I am no longer able to open any of the files on the external hard drive. I get these error codes when I try to open FCP files, Quicktime FIles and word documents. Some how Tech Tools   optimization has caused these files to be unreadable. Does anybody know how to fix this? There is NO backup for the Lacie hard drive.
    HELP!!

    You may be out of luck.  My understanding is that there is no need to optimize mac drives in osx.
    Digital Rebellion has a QT repair tool that's part of it's Pro Maintenance Tools

    There's a free trial and it's worth a shot.

  • I am unable to open my MacBook Air cause my password is not working

    I am attempting to log on to my MacBook Air.  My password, which I have been using since I purchased the computer, is not working.  How can I find out why this is happening?

    What are you setting it up as.. join wireless network .. the very worst setup, it will disappear.. reboot the whole network in order modem. router TC.. clients and it will likely reappear.
    Tell us what network setup you are using..
    If you setup with cable to a computer completely isolated from the network with TC also isolated.. finish the setup of everything you want. .before update.. then plug it into the network. .then restart everything in correct order.. it will work most of the time.

  • Unable to open this internet shortcut. the protocol "FirefoxURL" does not have a registered program.

    I recently ran into this problem after cleaning up my Windows 7 notification icons, which, required the deletion of 2 Registry Keys: IconStreams and PastIconsStream. This did a great job of clearing out the old icons, however, I ended up with this side effect!
    I found this article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/943001, which, gave me several remedies, including: create a new Boolean preference name: 'browser.shell.shortcutFavicons and set the value to false. None of the remedies worked.
    # My solution was a simple one, I backed up my Firefox Profile, uninstalled Firefox, then, reinstalled Firefox, transferred my original profile back back and the problem was solved!
    To make the re-installation easier, it's a good idea to download a new copy of the Firefox Installer, that, way you don't start another browser and searching for it, you can just simply run the installer. Also, don't forget to make a copy of your current Firefox Profile.
    I hope, that, this helps and I hope, that, I haven't put this in the wrong place!

    Thanks for your reply.
    As I stated, I re-installed v23.0 and I have NO problems since.
    ps I just reinstalled Windows Pro 64-bit, system is fine. I have Firefox v22.0 on two computers and now have v23.0 on the computer, that, I was having the problem with the pinned urls.
    Considering, that, I have been using the v23.0 Firefox all day with no problems, I can only conclude, that, there must be a problem with v24.0.
    If the problem returns, I will re-post.
    Again, thanks for your response.

  • I need to reinstall my Acrobat 9. Have a disc and serial number, but when I enter the number I am told it is not a valid serial number. Checked my registration for CS 5 and that is the number. Now what?

    In trying to reinstall the Adobe Pro 9, I keep getting the message that I ado not have a valid serial number. But I am using the number Adobe shows as the number with which I registered the product. Need this program to work. Any advice?

    If it's a CS5 number you need to install with your Creative Suite disks, NOT an Acrobat download.
