I can't open PNG's/ screen grabs in Photoshop. Can anyone help please?

Unable to open .png file in cs4

I recently upgraded to photoshop cs4 and am unable to open a .png file that I used to open frequently in cs2. It says photoshop cannot support this type of file. Does anyone know how to fix the problem? Thank you!

Make sure you have the PNG.plugin placed in the Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS4/Plug-ins/File Formats.
You clould also check it from inside PS by choosing Photoshop -> About Plug-In.
If you don't see the PNG... it's not installed or indicate if it's not loaded properly.

Unable to open PNG, save for web, and missing half of the format options under save as.

Using Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit with SP1.
When using Photoshop CC 64-Bit, i am unable to save for web, open PNG, or save as for about half the format options. I don't have any additional plugins installed, nor have I messed with the plugins folder.
When trying to open PNG files it says: Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document.
Photoshop CC 32-Bit works without any of these issues. I'll be switching to 32-Bit until this is resolved. Hoping I don't have to uninstall/reinstall (Install files are huge and take forever to download and I don't know how to save them to the hard drive with CC, thanks).

Sounds like you are missing some of the required plugins - possibly an updater failed, or someone moved/deleted the wrong directory.
Yes, you'll need to reinstall to restore the missing plugins.

"unable to open project file" after importing layered Photoshop file

After spending a day of work, I saved and closed my 720p project. Today, I can't open it. I get a message saying: "Unable to open project file." Same thing happens with the auto-saved copy.
I have narrowed down the problem to this: I made a new 720p project file. Without doing any work, I import a single layered Photoshop file (.psd), then save and close the project. When I try to open it, I get the message again: "Unable to open project file."
Works fine at home. What am I doing wrong?

I'm just now having the same problem, though I'm using FCE 3 . I can open older (NTSC) files. Just not new HD files that I have also blindly used alpha+Photoshop layers in. When I create a new HD file with a few HD clips in it and even use an audio track from the project I'm wanting to make, and use TIFF versions of the graphics and save it, it will open right up -- but something about these PS files.

Unable to open PNG files "not the right kind of document"

I just noticed this error today when I tried to open several PNG files, some of which I created with Photoshop: "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document".
I'm running Photoshop 9.0.2 on Windows XP Pro. Opening other file types (gif, jpg) works fine. I also noticed that in the save as dialog box that PNG is not a listed file type.

PNG certainly is listed as a file type. I have saved many of them using Save As, many quite recently, using PSCS3; and I just did a couple in PSCS2. Here's the Save As box in PSCS2 with an 8-bit flattened image being saved as PNG:

 Both PNG images opened properly. The second one opened as 16-bit, flattened (layers aren't preserved in PNG).
 
 And both of the above images were Saved As PNG from PSCS2, also.

Unable to open files such as jpegs in photoshop

Hi all,
I am currently having difficulty opening files such as jpegs/photographs in adobe photoshop cs3. I have newly switched my adobe suite from one computer to my new computer. I have a guess that it may be to do with this or file directorys. I believe this because I am having trouble accessing files for contact sheets and need to always put my files on my destop to use them and such problems as this.
The message I am recieveing is “Could not complete your request because its not the right kind of document.”

I am opening up my pictures with a USB port on PMB picture motion browser. The files are then saved to my pictures. I am then copy and pasting my pictures in a folder to my documents in my uni work folder. Then I am right clicking on the photo file and trying to open it in Photoshop.
The raw plug in is about the compatibility of my camera. I unable to use this because my camera is incompatible. The plug in is what sorts the problem out with other cameras. The link to that is http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/327/327437.html

Unable to open Bridge CS6 after installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 8

I have been using Bridge CS6 successfully until I installed Photoshop Elements 8 to use with a scanner I bought. After the installation, when clicking on Bridge CS6 it opens Bridge CS5. I had a look at some of the forums and tried Ctrl-clicking on Bridge CS6, but it still opens Bridge CS5. I have also re-installed Photoshop CS6 in the hope that this will fix it. Any suggestions as how to get Bridge CS6 going again will be appreciated!

I was able to sort this myself after I watched the the following video on how to reset the Adobe preferences: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/the-complete-picture-with-julieanne-kost/how-to-reset-photoshop- cs6s-preferences-file/ I did the manual reset where I moved only the preference file to another location e.g. the Desktop. I restarted my computer. Closed Bridge CS5 that was running in the background and then clicked on Bridge CS6 and the program opened. I decided to take a chance to see if this won't fix it and was elated when it worked. Don't ask my why, but it did the job!

I just got a Nikon D750 and I cannot open NEF files in Photoshop Elements 13 even when I download Camera Raw 9.0 and DNG Converter 9.0. What can I do?

I upgraded my iPhone 5 to iOS7 and I am unable to open iTunes on my phone - the screen just never loads.

I installed iOS7 on my iPhone5 and now I am unable to open iTunes - the screen just stays blank.
I have checked date and time and wifi settings.
Not sure what else to do.
I do have iMatch active on my device and its working fine on my other iPohne with iOS7 installed.

Have you tried logging out of your account on your phone by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then logging back in ? If it's still the same after that then try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

I am unable to open my own pdfs in Photoshop

I am unable to open my own pdfs in my Photoshop (ones that I have created in same Photoshop). Can anyone advise?
I get the message "This is not a valid Portable Document File (PDF) document. It cannot be opened."
I have to keep recreating the art...ugh!! Is there a way to pull up history to replicate my artwork until I get this resolved??

History (as indicated in the History Panel) is deleted when closing a file.
Photoshop > Preferences > General > History Log could be used to get a list of performed steps, but this is not directly executable.
ScriptingListener.plugin can be used to record operations, but not everything in Photoshop is recordable thusly.
As for the issue with the pdfs:
Which settings do you use exactly when saving pdfs?
Is there a chance the drive you save to is faulty?

Unable to open scanned Kaiser Baas jpeg files in Photoshop Elements 6

I have scanned photos and negatives using Kaiser Baas Photo & Negative scanner. I am unable to open the jpeg files produced using Photoshop Elements 6, any advice on how to?

I don't seem to have any trouble opening the file in pse 6 on windows xp.
I'd reset the pse 6 editor preferences and see if that makes a difference.
Press and hold Shift+Ctrl+Alt just after starting the launch of the pse 6 editor
Keeping holding down the keys until you get a dialog asking if you want to delete the photoshop elements settings file
Press Yes in that dialog

NO issues seen, Able to open attachment which has space in the file name.

I am unable to open my ipad. I have not used it for a while, it has 2 icloud backup windows on the screen and nothing happens whem I ok the update. Unable to open or shutdown as well.

Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
