Unable to open recently saved document

yesterday i saved a document in pages. when i wanted to continue this morning i couldnt open the pages file. it is giving a warning that the document cant be opened after that pages closes down and asks if it has to start over again.
can anybody help me???

If it is a flat file, try to rename it from xxx.pages to xxx.pages.zip then double click.
You will get it as a package.
ctrl + click to "show package contents".
Let us know if you see a file named "index.xml" or any variant starting with "index".
Maybe yo get the behavior described several times for Pages '08 when the index was named "index-new.xml".
If it's that,
(1) send me a copy of the document so I will be able to pass it to Cupertino
(2) rename "index-new.xml" as "index.xml"
After that we may hope that the doc will revive.

Unable to open older pages documents

hello
i've got a problem with the pages software.
i've got the older version of 'pages' (4.3) and i've installed just recently the new version. at least i think i have. when i go to apple store and see recent downloads, i can see the new version of pages has been installed/bought (although i don't recall paying for it or receiving an invoice??)
however, i'm now unable to open any pages documents that i created in 4.3. i keep getting the message 'a new version of pages is needed to open this document'.
when i click on 'more info' i get the apple pages site and i click on 'view in apple store' but from the apple store the new pages is 'installed'.
so i'm stuck and typically, like today, i reeeeeeeally need this file.
i've got a basic mac (bought in 2010) - i'm running os x 10.9.2. there's no updates currently available.
any ideas anyone??

You have Pages 5 in Applications folder and Pages 4.3 in Applications/iWork 09 folder.
Pages 5 is taking command and it seems you have opened the documents in PAges 5 without knowing it though they do not look quite the same when opened. See if you can open the document in Pages 5 and then go File > revert or File > export > Pages 09

Unable to open any PDF document in Windream using Adobe Reader (11.0.9)

Our company uses a document management system for storing and archiving important documents. Since updating to the latest version of Adobe Reader (11.0.9) last week, we are unable to open any PDF document using Adobe Reader. An AcroRd32.exe*32 process is launched, but the document will not open or display. Eventually we suffer a system crash. Opening any other PDF document (not stored in the archive management system) using Adobe Reader is fine. Documents can also be opened in the archive management system using Adobe Acrobat.

Try disabling Protected Mode (see Pat's response here: Anyone having problems with the Acrobat Reader 11.0.9 update on Win7 X64?) and see if that helps...

You may first want to look into Safari's "Installed Plugins" section within the browser. This is (usually) found under the Safari Help header in the top of a browser. I say usually, because I don't use Safari often and mine is an older version. They handle applications and plugins like most others, to a point.
I see in Safari Installed Plugins that mine would use

(in Safari 5.x, where I looked into this)
While I use FireFox, SeaMonkey (Mozilla) and others, where I can choose in preferences the helper applications to open from the browser, Safari has different methods; so if you can change this in the preferences or settings of Safari in a later version I am not certain.
You could see what the defaults are by using Safari help menu to open the Installed plugins, and maybe find out what happend to Adobe reader plugin. Could be it was 'sandboxed' in a later OS X and needs to be installed differently to be accepted as safe.
It is easier to set how a file type is handled once it is inside the computer and not held in the browser; by file type in general or specific to each single document. I do both, and seldom let an a browser do these things due to security considerations. I download and open them, only then if I feel they are safe.
Sorry to not have a specific answer for that anomaly.

In regarding of the issue, I need more information:
Which Office and operation system do you use?
Does the other Office suits encounter the issue?
Does the issue occur in some special documents or every documents (even a new blank Word document)?
Do you get some error message? Please upload some images about it if you can.
Let's try some methods, check if they are helpful:
a) Delete the Word Data registry subkey.
1.Exit all Office programs.
2.In Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.) Type regedit in the search box, tap
or click Apps, and then tap or click Run.
Or, in Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
3.Locate the following registry subkey, as appropriate for the version of Word that you are running:

I have verified in IIS , excel service related Application pool has started . and unable to recycling, throwing error message not possible

Please check your event log and see if there is relevant error message.
If you have observed event id 5021 like this "The identity of application pool 625dfcc8e4054c7d8da14feaca288250 is invalid. The user name or password that is specified
for the identity may be incorrect, or the user may not have batch logon rights".
Then the error indicates the issue is caused by either of these:
1. The account doesn’t have user rights to to “log on as a batch job” and “log on as a service” in group policy.
2. The account permission is out of sync between SharePoint database and AD.
If not, let me know the event id.

Hi i have been using pages but i recently opened maybe 7 individual pages and now no text appears. when i open a saved document in pages, it says the no of words it has but there is no visible text

i am unable to view text on my pages documents. even when i open saved documents it states how many words are there but no text is visible. this all happened after i pressed the pages icon 7 times in a row.
also now whaen i open pages several flip acreoss the screenalthough i previously closed them all

Unable to open a Page document on another computer

I used Page to create a document and then emailed it to my home to continue working. I have Page on this computer, but when I try to open I get the message -- Unable to open “Gardiner List.pages” because it isn't a valid Pages document.

I have just had the same problem. Another Mac user sent me a Pages 09 file that had been saved in Pages 08 format, but I could not open with my Pages 08. Then he sent me a Pages 08 file he created and I could not open that either. He also sent me a DOC version of the file, which I could open in Pages 08. Also, he had no problem opening a Pages 08 document that I sent him. Help.

Unable to "Open Recent"

Hello. Apologies if this is covered elsewhere on the site and I have just overlooked it.
Working on my laptop with files saved directly to another computer on the network, I am unable to use "Open Recent" to reopen files. Upon doing so, each time I am given the following message:
"Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
I am using PS CS6 (13.0.5 x64). In between saving, closign an attempting to reopen a file, nothing is moved or changed in regards to the file location, the network setup, or any other factor I can think of which might get in the way.
Has anyone seen this behavior before and/or does anyone have suggestions for fixing it?

I think it is fixed but I am not exactly sure what the problem was. The PDF attachments to emails would not open. I reinstalled Adobe Reader, I went through the Options in Yahoo email and changed a couple of things, I tried different browsers but that made no difference. I rebooted a number of times and cleaned out old files. I suspect it was a an email problem. Why it occurred all of a sudden, I have no idea. However, it is working now. Thank you for your response.

When I open a saved document in pages, then close it right away without making any changes, why does it ask if I would like to save the page or all new info will be lost?

I have a few saved documents and when I open them to view them quick, sometimes when I close it, I will get asked if I would like to save the document or all my new info will be lost. I didnt change anything so Im not sure why it asks me that. When I open the document again, all the info is there and nothing is different. Thanks

Unless they were Word documents, Pages has done nothing really, but it is updating date information in the file.
It is annoying but just ignore it and don't save.

Open Office saving documents to Pages

Open Office saving my documents (saved as Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP) in the program Pages. Meaning, documents with .doc are being saved to Pages instead of Open Office, so when I go to open the document, it opens in Pages instead of Open Office.

The problem isn't that they are being saved to Pages. The problem is that Pages is set as the default program to open them. You can change that by doing the following:
1. In Finder, find and select (highlight) a .doc file.
2. Click the "Action" button in the bar at the top of the Finder window and then click "Get Info"
3. The Info window has a section titled "Open with" -- change it to Open Office and then click Change all.

Unable to open a PDF document.

Have Adobe Reader XI. Am unable to open PDF documents and forms that are posted on-line. A small black square appears in the upper left corner of the screen. Have tried suggested fixes found on your website and nothing works. I am becoming extremely frustrated with this software. Is there a real live person I could talk with about this problem?

My newest version of Pages won't open previous saved documents. It keeps saying this version not supported please update, but it already is. Please help.

My previously saved documents in Pages will not open. When I click on one of the documents it is saying, "you need a newer version of Pages to open this document. You can download the latest version of Pages from the Apps Store, but when I click on the apps store, it states that is installed and running the current version. Help, I can't open any of my saved documents.

The problem is that you have both versions of pages on your computer - pages 09 is in the dock with the old ink pot icon - pages version 5 (orange pen and paper icon) is in your applications folder. Delete your pages 09 icon from your dock by dragging it upwards in a puff of smoke - and drag the pages 05 icon from the applications folder to your dock and use that in future. This fixed it for me.
I presume I can uninstall pages 09 now. You need to do the same with numbers and keynote.

Unable to open or save documents in a lync conversation

when i have a conversation between more than 2 people, users have a problem with opening or saving attachments (basically you click the button to open and nothing happens or click save as you are able to browse to were you want to save the document but nothing
ever appears) this only seems to be a problem for external users, however if an external user sends a document, internal users can open it but not other external users.

First note that the file transferred is in peer-to-peer conversation or in a conference.
It is different in different scenarios.
Please check if other external users have the same problem.
It looks like a network issue. Check the firewall, make sure the file transfer is no blocked.
