Unable to Open/Save files PS CS5.1 win xp
I have been running CS5.1 (Photoshop) for some time now and this morning when trying to save a file the program locks up cold, no dialogue box or anything. Just stops cold. Then I decided to try to open an existing file and the same thing happens.

Yeah wow, thats alot of stuff half of which I have no clue what it means .
Anyways I am aware that my machine is not the best to run Photoshop CS5.1 but it has allways worked well for me until this morning.
I have tried all the usual stuff .. restarting windows, restarting program, resetting prefs, etc...
I have not done an uninstall and reinstall as I hope to find a solution to this problem before resorting to the reinstall.

Strangly enough after the 3rd time deleting prefs it started working........
Just goes to show. To err is human, to realy foul things up it takes a computer....

What camera? ACR 6.7 will not open RAW files for cameras that came out after that version of ACR was released.

Unable to open raw files in cs5 after updating my camera to nikon d 600
I dont want to update to cs 6 but my raw files wont open with cs5 and also I dont want to use dng converter slowes everything down, what should i do pls help
A D600 requires ACR 7.3. So that means an upgrade or subscription to CC unless you want a DNG.
As I understand it if you upgrade to the CS6 licence all future ACR versions will be read (currently 8.2) BUT this will be ACR lite as it will not include enhancements. -
"Unable to open project file" message in final cut express 3.5.1
I have (well had now) a project with 3 video clips and multiple .psd files as stills. When the project contains just the 3 video clips and a couple of transitions I can save the project and quit Final Cut Express and relaunch FCE and when I try to re-open the same project, it opens just fine, without any problems and just the way I expected it to be. After editing the same project for a couple of hours and saving along the way (this has happened twice now and I don't think the length of time of editing matters) and adding multiple still images to the 3 video clips (this part is new in my working with FCE); I save and quit. When I return to open the same project I get the message "Unable to open project file" and click the OK button, which is my only option and I am given a new blank project. So where did my work go???

I read the link. I am working off my internal drive.
I re-named the Capture Scratch folder, and any Render folders and then launched FCE. I was presented with a window that reads "To preserve the integrity of the data used by Final Cut Express HD, it is necessary to ensure the existance of the following path(s)" The path in the box below is where my project file and support files are. My 3 options are Quit, Check again and Reset Scratch disk. I choose the Reset Scratch Disk button and it took me to the Scratch Disk window and I Set/Created a new folder and clicked Choose and then OK back at the Scratch Disk window and Continue at the initial window... the Reset Scratch disk button is now labeled Continue. I am given a new Untitled Project work space. I tried to open my project file and once again with the message "Unable to open project file".
Where did I go wrong??? -

Hi Guys ! I have been a long time reader of the forums and from just observing have always learned a great deal from the discussions. Up until now I have been able to read through post and always find an answer from some of the great advice. As a relatively new Final Cut Editor I have limited knowledge but can edit and have learned enough to structure my work flow and put a project together how I would like it and complete with good results.
I have read a few post on this subject “Unable to open project file” but haven’t seen any with the specifics as my own.
Up until yesterday my files were opening all fine and working perfectly until this last night I had saved and shut down my Mac in the normal fashion. When I tried to open two specific files I was greeted with the infamous “Unable to open Project Files”. These as I can gather are the only two files that will not open and both files have used the RIVER ROCK– Chromatic Glow, or Day for Night Free downloadable Filters in the last 2 weeks could this be the reason ?
I have all the recent updates and have tried going into the Auto Vault and Render files to access the last available versions of these project files. I am able to access those but am only left with a much earlier version of the same project like a version a week earlier without vital changes.
So I would pretty much have to start again.
Any Help would be greatly appreciated

FCHi Tom thanks very much for your reply! , I un mounted the external drive , and reset and created a temporary scratch disk on My Hardrive to get Fce to start.
The 3 projects I have been working on which all were rendered on the 2nd of April around 3 in the afternoon. Two of the Files using the River rock filters are Not accessible from the most recent and up to date versions. The one remaining Project is able to be opened and is the only one not using the filters.
The two files accessed from the auto save vaults before April 1st up to 3pm April 2nd are working and are able to be opened with no problem. Everything after that is not opening which is a real downer as its where the project became near completion but at least I have a time frame of when things started to go wrong.
What would you suggest? -
Unable to open project file. even though I just saved it.
Hi,
I just started back to work on a little FCE 2 video project after a couple of months. When I went to load the file, it said "Unable to open project file". I thought, "hmmm, I'm a beginner, maybe I'm not opening the right file." So, I made a new project with a clip and save it. Then I tried to reopen it. No go. Same message.
So, something is wrong but I can't figure it out.
My preferences are set to save the file on an external hd. The file icon shows up but says that the FCE project file has 0KB. How can that be?
I look using spotlight for the file, thinking maybe the file was saved elsewhere. It doesn't show up.
Sorry if this subject has been treated before. I searched the forum and didn't find a problem that matched my circumstances. One that was close.

Yep, I've tried the files in the AutoSave Vault and still Unable to Open Project File.
Also tried deleting the FCE preference and cache file, fixing permissions and doing a save as instead of a straight save, as outlined in the article below:

It only has worked on one project which is the only file that opens now.
It's driving me nuts! I'm going to start doing some major jobs soon and can't have this happen. Maybe I'll try to reinstall FCE then if no luck it's time for a refund.
Would upgrading from FCE 1 to HD have anything to do with it?

"unable to open project file" after importing layered Photoshop file
After spending a day of work, I saved and closed my 720p project. Today, I can't open it. I get a message saying: "Unable to open project file." Same thing happens with the auto-saved copy.
I have narrowed down the problem to this: I made a new 720p project file. Without doing any work, I import a single layered Photoshop file (.psd), then save and close the project. When I try to open it, I get the message again: "Unable to open project file."
Works fine at home. What am I doing wrong?

PPJI'm just now having the same problem, though I'm using FCE 3 . I can open older (NTSC) files. Just not new HD files that I have also blindly used alpha+Photoshop layers in. When I create a new HD file with a few HD clips in it and even use an audio track from the project I'm wanting to make, and use TIFF versions of the graphics and save it, it will open right up -- but something about these PS files.

My most recent save of a project keeps coming up as "unable to open project file". I looked in the autosave and its not there either. The icon for this project has what looks to be a transparent sheet over it or behind it. There are stills in the project, not sure if that has anything to do with it. If anyone knows whats going on I would great greatly appreciate the help.

I uploaded the ppt file in some folder in KM content. Then I tried to open it . but I am unable to open the file. However I am able to open the file after right clicking the folder and save as target to my PC.
It is there in MIME types. Is there any extra configuration needed to open the ppt file firectly.
Not only in Km content but also in KM iview also I am unable to open it directly.
I am able to open doc, pdf files directly. I am having problem only with ppt file.

What version of Bridge and Camera Raw is your friend using? And what camera is this from?
Each camera must be supported specifically and older versions of Adobe products don’t get updated for newer cameras.
Your CS6 is obviously new enough and has been updated to a new enough version of the Camera Raw plug-in but perhaps theirs is older or hasn’t been updated.
Here is a list of cameras that Adobe supports along with the version of the Camera Raw plug-in that is needed to read them:

For versions older than CS6, the highest CR version is +1 of the CS version—CS5 can use CR6.x but not CR 7 or 8.
The exception is CS6 which is still be sold by Adobe so can be updated to CR8 even though it initially shipped with CR7. -
Output Designer 5.7 Errors - Error 1804 Unable to open configuration file
Hi...Receiving error messages on accessing newly installed Output Designer 5.7. Installed on new Win7 laptop.
Error # 5903 - You must select a Printer before saving.

The last error, Error # 1804, closes out the application. File does not exist within the path. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling with the same result.

This is most likely caused by missing admin rights on Win 7. I have seen this problem within my company.
When installing Adobe Output Designer it will be placed in %ProgramFiles% which is your C:\Program Files folder.
In subfolder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Output Designer 5.7\Config there are many configuration files that controls your printer drivers (Presentment targets). Dependent on what user type you are in Win 7 you might not have write access to files in this folder. When you cannot write to this folder you cannot make changes to your printer drivers or install new ones and you are pretty much stuck.
Solution: Create folder C:\MyPrograms and install Adobe Output Designer here.

Since upgrading to Firefox 4.0.1 I am unable to open/save pdfs from citibanks site. I using a Apple Macbook Pro running MAC OX X 10.6.7.
I have no issues saving opening/saving pdf from other financial institutions.This is not the usual behavior of Acrobat. If it were people would be howling. Possible culprits: virii and other malware (Some of this subset are in the same work-group, people that work together spread the same files and virii). Incompatible graphics cards (however, new and old machines make this unlikely). If you are all using XP then perhaps the firewall or virus protection being used by the core group of people is the same and is causing interference. If it was only one or two out of many, I'd suspect hard drive corruption or faculty memory but with the numbers you are talking about very unlikely. Bad fonts cause problems and they can certainly be passed around a work group. The last possibility is that for the some number of people the uninstall of the earlier version was incomplete. But again, why just for those in the work group...

I am unable to open raw files taken on my Canon Rebel T1i in my version of Photoshop CS3. When I import raw files into Bridge they come up as patches with CR2 on them and when clicked on, a notice comes up stating that Photoshop does not recognize these files. I tried to update my Adobe Camera Raw by downloading version 4.6 from the Adobe Website, but when I clicked on the plus-in, I got another message that Photoshop does not recognize this file. I spoke with a representative from Canon who said that I could not update CS3 and that I should subscribe to the Cloud. I would prefer to use my CS3, if possible. Can anyone advise me what to do?
The T1i was first supported by Camera Raw 5.4 which is only compatible with CS4 and later

I installed and installed the following software successfully on Windows XP
Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.1) Microsoft Windows
PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools 8.50
PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Resources Management System 9.1 - Revision 2
Tuxedo 10gR3 for MS Windows Server 2003 w/MS VS 2005 (32-bit x86, AMD64/EM64T x64) 32-bit
i am at the point of installing the Application Server. Domain created sucessfully but i got boot errors as shown below.
I searched for the TUXCONFIG file but could not find it in the tuxedo installation folder.
I read that i have to create the TUXCONFIG,if missing, using tmloadcf.exe and the ubbconfig file, but the only UBBCONFIG file is located in "\samples\atmi\rpcsimp\" folder.
How do i create the TUXCONFIG file?
Did i miss something with the installation? What location should this file exist after your tuxedo installation?

The TUXCONFIG file normally is created automatically when you create your domain.
In this case I think you ran into trouble because the path of installation is too long!
Note the error in your log:

Your path is 69 chars long!
I would suggest that you re-try the configuration with a shorter tuxedo and PS_HOME: perhaps in the root directory (c:\PSHOME)
In the past I've also noticed that installations have problems with paths that have spaces - ex: 'Documents and settings' , so I would avoid that as well.

Having modified the structapps.fm in FM10, I am getting the following error within a dialog when attempting to use the same file in FM8:

Is FM not backward compatible ? OR do I need to reread the file in FM8
ThanksThe file should be saved in the FM version that you're using it in. You can't use any newer FM version file in any older version of FM, e.g. FM8 can't open any FM10 files (except for the MIF formats).
