Unable to open software

I have downloaded software on to my computer but I am unable to open software so that I can configure system.
I am using Windows Vista Home.
I no Airport Express works using Windows Vista Home as we got it working from a laptop .
The problem seems to be with my machine
Peter

the files go to the desktop where I try to open them. If the Mac OS can't open them I move them to the trash and empty the trash.
When I try to open the file I get a small window saying file was not readable and maybe it was damaged. In some cases I get a list of other applications to try to open the file but the only download app on these iMacs is the Mac software install utility which is the one that can't determine what it is supposed to work with.
I have the same problem with Firefox on 2 different Macs using different versions of Mac OS X.
There are no screen shots available of this.

  • Unable to open files made in iWork '08 without installing original software

After re-installing my original Mac OSX to try to cure another issue, I find I'm unable to open my Numbers '08 files unless I re-install the original software.
The following message appears: Files that iWork needs are missing. To restore the missing files, use the iWork Installer to re-install iWork.
I can't remember whether I actually bought the disks, or whether I downloaded the software on line, as I'm unable to find any trace of software in the house.
Is the iWork '08 software still available, and if so, where can I download it from?

As far as I know, the answer is No. I have also found it safer to re-build all my MS1 concerts in MS2 rather than importing them from MS1.
It doesn't cost too much to upgrade from MS1 to MS2.

  • N95 software update - "unable to open database"

    Hi all,
Ive just done the update to V 20.0.016 and it seemed to work ok. I can add contacts, add calendar but it wont sync with my PC.
it gives "unable to open database" on the phone.
have tried removing the battery for 5 mins, the hard reset (though holding four buttons down was hard), restore to factory settings and reinastalled the update to no avail.
    any clues would be appreciated.
    Adie

I had the same error message after updating my firmware. However, I had my config set to "delete all" data on phone before copying data from phone to PC. When I removed this setting and actually put something in the phone database all has worked fine.

  • Unable to open Apple application

Last week, I did the most current software updates. Ever since then, I have been unable to open certain Apple programs such as iChat, Skype, Preview, Pages, Photo Booth, etc. I have tried to download AIM, but the computer says it isn't supported. Also, now when I try to open Photo Booth, it says my graphics card doesn't support it, but I have never changed the card from the one the computer came with. The programs will open up, and then immediately quit, and I am left with "The application _____ quit unexpectedly" message. No matter how many times I relaunch and reset, ignore, or report, I can't get them to open. I'm in college and really have no way to get to a Genius Bar for a few more weeks, and I don't have the Leopard disk with me. Is there any way I can fix this on my own? Thanks!

I think it was the repair disk permission that actually worked for me. I tried it once and got no result, and then tried to download the updater. For whatever reason, I couldn't even download that. So I went back and did the disk permission repair again. It still didn't seem to work, so I just turned the computer off out of frustration. When I turned it back on, it was all fixed. So I'm not entirely sure what it was that fixed it...all I know is it works now!

  • ERROR: Unable to open TUXCONFIG file

    Hi,
I installed and installed the following software successfully on Windows XP
Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.1) Microsoft Windows
    PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools 8.50
PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Resources Management System 9.1 - Revision 2
    Tuxedo 10gR3 for MS Windows Server 2003 w/MS VS 2005 (32-bit x86, AMD64/EM64T x64) 32-bit
i am at the point of installing the Application Server. Domain created sucessfully but i got boot errors as shown below.
I searched for the TUXCONFIG file but could not find it in the tuxedo installation folder.
I read that i have to create the TUXCONFIG,if missing, using tmloadcf.exe and the ubbconfig file, but the only UBBCONFIG file is located in "\samples\atmi\rpcsimp\" folder.
How do i create the TUXCONFIG file?
Did i miss something with the installation? What location should this file exist after your tuxedo installation?
    thanks

    Hi
The TUXCONFIG file normally is created automatically when you create your domain.
In this case I think you ran into trouble because the path of installation is too long!
Note the error in your log:
115818.SU1491!PSWATCHSRV.5832.6140.-2: LIBTUX_CAT:1519: ERROR: TUXCONFIG value (C:\Documents and Settings\klondon\psft\pt\8.50\appserv\hrms\PSTUXCFG) is longer than the allowed length of 64
Your path is 69 chars long!
I would suggest that you re-try the configuration with a shorter tuxedo and PS_HOME: perhaps in the root directory (c:\PSHOME)
In the past I've also noticed that installations have problems with paths that have spaces - ex: 'Documents and settings' , so I would avoid that as well.

  • Unable to open .eps file "unknown format and cannot be opened" ?

A client sent me an .eps file (logo). I tried opening it in Illustrator AND photoshop (just to see if it was saved in one vs the other program) - however to no avail.
Illustrator gives me a message "unknown format and cannot be opened"
Photoshop gives me a message "photoshop was unable to parse the postscript".
I'm using Adobe CS4, and I've never seen this message before—would love to know what this means and how to resolve?
File attached if anyone is able to open / fix it?
    Thanks kindly,
    Chemol

Thanks for the advice Scott - does compression improve the .eps?  Is it
silly for me to ask them to compress it since the file is only 766 KB
(that's how big the attachment is in my email - though I am unable to open
    it)?
My friend is able to open it on his end - however the 3rd person (client) is
the one who sent it, and I have already requested a different version - no
response from them yet.  Unfortunately what the company "has" is what he
will likely give to me again (ie: same file / unable to open).  So ... I am
curious about how I can resolve this issue on my end - if possible?
Do you know what the AI and Photoshop error messages mean? Could the issue
be a mac vs PC concern? Or is it a corrupt file? Could it be a software
version issue (old vs new) ... or Quark incompatibility?
.... just guessing at this point....Any insight as to what different
scenarios may apply in this situation would be greatly appreciated ..thank
    you.

  • I restarted my Firefox this morning and it automatically updated to version 9.0.1. Since that update, I am unable to open Firefox - it is giving no response.

I restarted my Firefox this morning and it automatically updated to version 9.0.1. Since that update, I am unable to open Firefox. When I try to open it (and this is on a Mac), it does not respond and freezes with a white screen, the tab says "connecting...," and there are no bookmarks or anything showing on the browser. It does not respond at all - I cannot even click into the navigation to change any of the preferences. Please, someone help! Not having Firefox is killing me!

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • [SOLVED] Rad 7790+Catalyst = Error: unable to open display (null)

Radeon HD 7790 + Catalyst = Error: unable to open display (null)
    Greetings,
I've installed Arch 2 days ago(migrated from Fedora), but I'm still a newbie to linux, so please have patience.
I've bought AMD Radeon HD 7790 recently and decided that it's time to upgrade system, but since then I had only problems with it. No LiveCD I tried (Fedora 20, Mint)  worked properly in graphics mode, so I suspected problem in built-in drivers and moved to linux with text-only installation (Arch), so I could install drivers later.
I've followed wiki manual and installed catalyst, removed open source driver, added nomodeset parametr to GRUB etc. but I'm still stucked, because Xorg won't start(black screen and errors presented in Logs). Tried googling, but learned nothing except Radeon proprietary drivers are comparable to suicide.

I've managed to solve this error:
(EE) AIGLX error: failed to open /usr/X11R6/lib64/modules/dri/fglrx_dri.so, error[/usr/X11R6/lib64/modules/dri/fglrx_dri.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
There was missing library and few directories, which I found according to this http://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/comme … _correctly at /usr/lib/dri, so I had to just symlink it. However, "unable to open display" error is still annoying me and Xorg is not working.
EDIT: Found EE about missing commands in new Xorg.0.log and installed xterm to solve this. Now I don't have entirely black screen after startx. There is white rectangular terminal and fglrxinfo seems to be all right as it detected my Radeon and OpenGL. Now I have to install some DE, but that's another story. Marking as [SOLVED] and once again thanks to clfarron4 for reply.

  • Problem with Pages.  I have recently been unable to open Pages, or any documents from Pages on my iMac.  Pages seems to be in the Cloud and can open a list of the documents in Pages, but can't open any of those documents.

Recently unable to open Pages or any documents therein.  It seems to be stuck in the Cloud.  Although I can open a list of the documents I can not open any of the documents.

The answer is simple...  If you want to remedy this, then don't save them as PDFs.
Word opens Word and text documents.  Not PDFs.
Also note that this forum is for troubleshooting Apple Software Update for Windows, a software package for Windows designed to update Apple products that run on Windows, and not related to Microsoft Office or your question in any way. If you have issues or questions about Office, it's probably best you post Office related questions on Microsoft's own forums for their Mac products.

  • Unable to open Messaging Server 6.2 through admin console 5.2

    my system is
Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.2-3.05 (built Nov 23 2005)
    libimta.dll 6.2-3.05 (built 02:22:19, Nov 23 2005)
    Microsoft Windows 2000 version 5.2 (Build 3790)
i installed Sun Java Enterprise System (directory, admin, messaging) servers on my windows 2003 server, all is working fine except:
1- unable to open my messaging server through my admin console 5.2.
when checking the error log file i see
"[05/Jun/2006:10:51:49] failure ( 2624): for host t.est.hotmail.com trying to GET /msg-config/tasks/operation/cgi_root, cgi_scan_headers reports: the CGI program E:\Sun\Server-Root\bin\msg\admin\bin\cgi_root.exe did not produce a valid header (program terminated without a valid CGI header. Check for core dump or other abnormal termination)"
    Any clue?
2- When creating a new user through the admin console 5.2, and check the mail account checkbox, i don't get the "mail tab" to complete the needed information, and therefore the newly created user is not an active email account as mainly the mailhost attribute has not been created for the account
Is this related to the problem in point 1?
NOTE 1: i ran cmm_dssetup.pl before configuring the messaging server and selected schema 1
NOTE 2: i downloaded the software from sun.com, didn't register it yet as i'm in the testing phase
Appreciate your help, direction and tips

    Oh, my.....
    1. The Directory Console is not very useful, for anything in Messaging 6. The MTA is configured via editing files, and the mail store is better configured using the configutil utility.
    2. You SHOULD NOT attempt to create users with the Directory Console. They won't work. Use either the command-line tools provided (comm-admin), or use the Delegated Admin tool provided.

  • E70 PDF Reader : Unable to open. File type not sup...

This morning I have bought an E70, among others due to its highscreen resolution and the possibility to run a PDF reader on it.
    I have now tried ...
      - the pre-installed Adobe PDF Reader
      - the Adobe PDF Reader supplied with the PC Suite CD-ROM
      - the Adobe PDF Reader available on europe.nokia.com
I am fascinated by a software which presents itself in the About box as '1.5', prompts during installation for '1.0.5' and has filenames '1_5_0'.
Apart from minor variations in the SIS filenames they all share the same annoying feature: They refuse to display any of my PDF files but display a message 'Unable to open. File type not supported. 5. !' instead.
It doesn't seem to be a problem of the PDF files, since a collegue of mine was able to open them on his E61 or E70 (forgot to ask).
Any idea what this problem could be caused by?

I am speechless -- but happy.
The complaint about the file type only appears if you try to open a PDF stored in the phone memory but not if you try to open a PDF stored on the memory card.
    Problem solved.
