  • Unable to open websites from address bar

I can open links from firefox home page, so it can be sure that connection is OK, but when I enter a website at address bar it navigates to a page having text 'Unauthorized request'; at source code its a simple text and not a HTML page giving no clue from where this responce page is generated. At error console it reads unable to read 'C:/.../chrome.manifest'

This sounds like an add-on may have got broken somehow.
Try following the steps for [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and see if that helps, and then post again.

  • Unable to open website due to scope application error

Hi guys.   I am completely new to this forum so I hope I explain this well enough.  I have an eee pc running xandrox os.  I upgraded  to firefox 3.6 today.  Now I cannot open the website surgeons.org as I get this error "the scope application has not been enabled."  I have no idea what this means or how to fix it.  Have reviewed the forum but the dicussion is beyond me.  Can anyone offer advice please. Thank you

You are a bit unclear as to your relationship to the website in question... is it yours?  You make it sound like you're just a visitor.  If it's the latter, the only thing you can do is to contact whoever maintains the site and tell them to fix their code.
If it's your site, then there's a big clue as to what you need to do in the next part of the error message (after the bit you quote):
Before application variables can be used, the application state management system must be enabled using the CFAPPLICATION tag.
That does kinda explain what you need to do.
It would probably be useful to read up on what it's saying, starting with <cfapplication>:

    Or perhaps instead Application.cfc:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ColdFusion/9.0/Developing/WSc3ff6d0ea77859461172e0811cbec22c24 -7d39.html#WSc3ff6d0ea77859461172e0811cbec22c24-68e0
And probably about the CF application framework in general (indeed the latter is a subsection of this):

Also, you should not have robust exception handling switched on on a production server.  Switch it off.

  • Suddenly unable to open website PDFs

I can't open any website PDFs. I've tried Adobe Reader and Preview. All I can see when I click on any website PDF is a totally black window. The problem appeared suddenly about two weeks ago.  ( I can open PDFs that were already downloaded.)
    Thanks,
    Joan

    Hi Limnos,
This is the Tiger forum?  Then already I've learned something! (Thank you.)
I first discovered the problem when I tried to download the specs for a stairlift.  I can open and download this spec sheet on my husband's computer, but can't even see it on mine; I just see black.
    http://www.bruno.com/brochures/SRE-2750_ILS-00825_798.pdf
Also, on a page on that website, I used to be able to watch the video of someone riding up a stairs on a stairlift. Now I get a message that says, "Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player."  So I tried to uninstall my Flash Player and install the one they linked to. I guess I failed, because I still can't watch their video. I can watch YouTube videos, though.

Here's another example of something that I could always open and download in the past, on a government website, but now all I see is black:

  • Safari is not opening websites after Maverick update. Any suggestions?

  • I am unable to open raw files from my Canon T1i in Adobe Camera Raw of my version CS3 of Photoshop.  I have tried to update my ACR by downloading version 4.6 from the Adobe website but I am still unable to open raw files, just JPEG.  Is there a way to use

I am unable to open raw files taken on my Canon Rebel T1i in my version of Photoshop CS3.  When I import raw files into Bridge they come up as patches with CR2 on them and when clicked on, a notice comes up stating that Photoshop does not recognize these files.  I tried to update my Adobe Camera Raw by downloading version 4.6 from the Adobe Website, but when I clicked on the plus-in, I got another message that Photoshop does not recognize this file.  I spoke with a representative from Canon who said that I could not update CS3 and that I should subscribe to the Cloud.  I would prefer to use my CS3, if possible.  Can anyone advise me what to do?

The T1i was first supported by Camera Raw 5.4 which is only compatible with CS4 and later
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
    Some options:
    Upgrade to CS6
    Join the Cloud
Download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all T1i Raw files to DNGs then edit the DNGs in CS3
Camera raw, DNG | Adobe Photoshop CC

  • I am unable to open video files on this website.

When I click on video links of the following website--http://tubtub.com/--I receive an error message that reads as follows:
    "File not found
Firefox can't find the file at mms://TITLE.tubtub.com/.
Check the file name for capitalization or other typing errors.
Check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted.
    Try Again"
I had initially seen a window that was named "Launch Application," which, seemingly, allowed one to choose an application by which to open the video links. I chose my VLC player to do this and checked a box to associate this "Launch application" window with the VLC player, but received an error message that VLC was unable to open the file that began with an "mms" URL. Then I was never able to get back to that "Launch application" window to select another application, such as Windows Media Player, Real Player, etc. I even tried uninstalling my Firefox browser and the VLC player and reinstalling them both, all to no avail.
Please explain how I may get these video links to play and the "Launch Application" window to open again. I recall having used TubTub.com successfully before.
    Thank you.

    CosmoPod is not compatible.
It is the source of your problems, IMHO.

  • I am unable to open certain pages on sites. I have to switch over to IE because the new Firefox update is not accomodated on their websites! When will this be fixed... sites included Ameritrade, FAFSA, and others...

    Question
I am unable to open certain pages on sites. I have to switch over to IE because the new Firefox update is not accomodated on their websites! When will this be fixed... sites included Ameritrade, FAFSA, and others...

First and foremost, you should update to 3.6.17 because the version you're running at the moment is insecure and exposes your system to attack. Update via '''Help '''| '''Check For Updates'''.
That may even fix the problem since several minor bugs were also fixed in later versions.
Similarly, after updating, go to the [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ Plugins Check] page and update those which are necessary.
If the problem persists, try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.
I didn't experience a problem myself accessing any of those sites you mentioned. See screenshot.

  • I am unable to open a favourite website on my Mac.

    Hello!
For the last week or so, I have been unable to open one of my favourite websites on my Mac. It says that it cannot connect/find the server to this website. When I go on any other computer, I can access the site no problem.  I even tried using another internet browser, Firefox and it still would not connect.  I have cleared the history and the cache and it still doesn't work. Any suggestions?

If you are running OS X 10.9, I believe the upgrades are free (they were for me).
