Unable to paste album artwork to selected albums

I've noticed that, for some of my albums in iTunes, I am not able to set any album artwork. I can copy it (from the web) or download an image (jpg), but even though I paste or add it, the artwork does not stick.
I've also noticed that some of the tracks *do not* allow me to add artwork at all (the Artwork tab is greyed out).
Any ideas on why?
Thanks,
Michael Frankel

I only just noticed that I've got the exact same problem. So far I've only found one example, but that's because I just don't feel like going through my entire library just to see how bad this is.
In my case, iTunes simply deleted the artwork from an album that's been in my library for about a year already, and it steadfastly refuses to let me paste it back in.
Frankly, for an app that always functioned perfectly in the past, these bugs are starting to get irritating. I haven't yet had time to correct all the track info that had characters altered by the last iTunes update, and now this. What is going on?

  • Unable to view album artwork

    Hi there,
I am unable to use the album artwork feaure to it's full capacity.I am able to view only selected artwork. For example, I'm able to see all the album work from the songs I bought and downloaded from iTunes. But I can't see the artwork from audio cds in which I imported into my iTunes library. I already updated my ipod to 1.2, my iTunes to 4.9 and checked the box where it states "to view album artwork" and still nothing. In addition, I noticed that when I try to view the artwork when I actually place an audio cd in the computer and click on "show artwork" I get the following message "Album artwork is not modifiable."
Before I got the ipod 20gb with color display, I had an ipod 20gb...could that past history be part of the reason why I'm unable to view the artwork??
    Please Help. Thanks.

    Please help.
    Thanks.

    Erica,
It sounds like you may not realize that for CD's you add to iTunes yourself, you have to add the artwork yourself as well.
One way to do this is to find the album cover at a web site such as amazon.com. Save the artwork on your computer, a new folder called

Now it's time to get the artwork into iTunes. Select

    b Browse
icon in the top right corner of iTunes.
Now select the CD in the Browse pane and press the

    keys at the sqame time.
After confirming that you want to edit information for multiple items, you will be taken to the
    i Multiple Song Information
    window. Double-click the large
    b Artwork
box and then navigate to the image you downloaded from amazon.com and confirm that's the image you want.
You will now be able to view the artwork in iTunes by selecting Edit menu > Show Artwork and it should be on your iPod the next time you synch with iTunes.
I hope this is the answer to your problem. If not, post back.

  • Unable to add album artwork to iTunes

Try as I might, I'm unable to add album artwork to an album that I have in iTunes.
I've bought up the Info dialog for the album by either command + I or from the context menu to get the info for the entire album - and then I've tried dragging the album artwork as a JPEG, PNG and a re-saved JPEG to the album well or copying it in Finder and pasting it onto the well - and I've also got the open file dialog to appear by double-clicking on the well and picked it that way ... And nothing, I just can't get the artwork to appear.
Is there something that I'm not doing or is this a bug? It's very frustrating.

I have the same problem -- it used to be so simple with the previous version of iTunes.

You can only join tracks when importing from a CD and likewise, the Options button is also only visible when importing from CD.
When the CD is in the drive and showing in iTunes, you will see Options, CD Info and Import CD choices. If you select Options, the Join CD Tracks option only appears when you have two or more adjacent tracks selected. See the screenshots below:

  • Copy and Pasting album artwork

I'm trying to import/paste album artwork from the internet. How do I do that?

Short version: Get the artwork onto your computer. Then open iTunes, select the songs you are adding the artwork to. Do a Get Info on those songs and you will see an artwork box. Drag and drop the artwork from your computer onto that box. OK out of the Get Info screen.

  • Ipod in the phone is unable to load album artworks

ipod in the phone is unable to load album artworks, and when songs or videos with album artworks or thumbnails selected, it automatically returns to home screen. can it be fixed?

You are not addressing Apple here. If you have a problem, describe it and someone might be able to help. Just to be sure, the wi-fi on the phone will go off after the phone goes into sleep mode unless it is actively being used. This is a battery saving measure. If you are actively using the internet, and the phone is still awake, then the wi-fi should remain connected.

  • Paste multiple artwork to album

I have several artwork for an album/several songs. I have not found a way to paste an artwork to an album/several songs without entirely replacing artwork that already exists for that album. In other words, when I select multiple tracks, do a "Get Info" and then paste artwork for those multiple tracks, it replaces the existing artwork.
I have about 10 albums I'm working with and each album has three artwork.
Any clues how to do this?

You can just drag and drop each artwork directly in the artwork viewer in the lower left corner of the iTunes window.
Just select all your songs for which you want to add artworks, make sure the artwork viewer is set to "Seleted Songs" by clicking on its title bar (to toggle from Now Playing to Selected Songs).
When an artwork is already present, the new picture will just add and you will see arrows in the artwork viewer title bar to view them all.

  • After upgrading I can't paste album artwork.

Ever since I have updated iTunes to 10.4.0.80, I can't paste in album artwork. After I try to paste in my artwork for an album, the artwork is all black.
Here is a screenshot of what I see after I paste in my artwork:
I never had this problem before the most recent update. I am on Windows 7 64-bit with all the latest updates.

It is a bug in the new iTunes release.
Paste has problems, but either of the following will work.
    (1)  Drag-n-drop (rather than copy/paste) the artwork into the box.
Or (2) save the artwork as a file.  On the artwork tab, use the Add button and point it to the saved file.

  • Party Shuffle: "iTunes is unable to browse album artwork on this computer"

    Hello
I have recently had to completely wipe and reformat my hard-drive, after the Operating System started running really slowly. I'm now back up to speed and everything's great, including iTunes.
However, when I go to run the Party Shuffle, I get the above error message showing. Whilst this doesn't interfere with the functionality of the application, I was wondering if there was perhaps some additional component that needed to be installed in order to make iTunes able to display the artwork. For what it's worth, I can view the artwork in the Artwork Browser, just not in Jukebox mode.
None of this is a showstopper, but I know that I used to have this functionality and now I don't.
    TIA.

Is it no longer possible with the updated software ??

Correct, Apple have removed that feature. However, you can still see the artwork of the song that's playing; it's shown in the Now Playing indicator at the top of the iTunes window. It is small, but if you click on it, a larger version pops up.
Also, in Albums View, you can see the album artwork.

  • Why can't i directly cut and paste album art

The older I-Tunes was able to cut directly and paste album art pictures, (when the find album album art auto feature failed) I now have to save album images to my hard drive,' Apart from the new coloured (I spell Colored with a "U" as I'm British)  icon Red instead of blue the rest of it is just the same

The new iTunes 12 Get Info dialog lacks right-click context menus (at least for now) but it still accepts most standard keyboard shortcuts and drag & drop actions.
    Delete Artwork
On the artwork tab of Get Into, tap the image in question, use Backspace or Ctrl+X. Delete doesn't work.
Or, tap the image at the top left of Get Info, this time use Backspace or Delete, it is Ctrl+X that doesn't work.
    Add Artwork
Select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the center of the Artwork tab, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the small image area at the top left, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, you can drag & drop to, or sometimes from, the same locations.
You can also copy artwork from the Get Info dialog to Windows Explorer with the keyboard shortcuts.
If the source image is on a web page right-click and use Copy Image rather than copy. (With Chrome I get a one pixel wraparound so tend to go for a temporary local copy anyway - not sure whose bug this is, but it isn't new.)
If you have multiple images embedded drag the one you want to be the primary artwork to the leftmost position.
    Replace/Remove All Artwork
The top left image box can be used to add or delete art from multiple tracks. In either case all existing artwork in all tracks is replaced/removed.
    Old Style Get Info Dialog
Select some items, right-click, hold down shift, then click Get Info from the context menu. (Use alt/option on a Mac)
The new icon is the least of the changes.

So I can copy and paste on my Windows version of iTunes 12.  But I can't copy in paste album art from the web on iTunes for Yosemite.  I have to save the image to my laptop and then click the add artwork button inside Get Info.

  • Why can't I copy/paste album art in latest version of iTunes?

I have the latest version of iTunes and I am unable to copy/paste album art from the internet.  Whenever I try to copy/paste album art from Amazon, it just displays a blank box.  I was able to copy/paste album art just fine before the last iTunes update.  Any suggestions?

Artwork seems to cut/paste in my situation, but does not "attach" to the file so the icons appear as generic in a list view or when viewing the file using "get info".  Also noticed that cut and paste does not work for text in the comments window either, especially if the copied text contains style changes (underlines, etc.) or hyperlinks.
Also, if importing AIFF files into iTunes, the song that plays upon import (usually the highest numbered track) will not accept artwork no matter what, unless you convert to another file type (like AAC).  The only workaround is to make a copy of the last song, rename it with a higher track number, then import both at the same time.  Then just delete the higher numbered track.  This has been an on again/off again problem for at least the last 3-4 versions of iTunes.
