Unable to pause/rewind live TV

Can anyone help? Since the last software update I can't pause or rewind live TV. Its OK on the recorded one. Any clues?

There is a wee bug with the current software which means if you take the Try Again option the box forgets how to do trick play. The workround is always to take the Recorded TV option and use the exit key on the remote to get rid of the recordings screen. If you've already used Try Again your ability to use trick play will return after the next attempted or successful channel change provided you don't use Try Again again. No need to reboot in this case.

Why can't we rewind/pause live TV any longer? This just started late last week. We get a message that states "Unable to rewind live TV at this time. Please try again." This has been going on for nearly a week now. Thoughts on how to fix this? Thanks

There is a very short period of time when starting a new channel that it will not work. But, you are talking later, after it is available.
If this is on other than the actual DVR - Try a whole house reboot to synch everything. Pull power on all boxes.
Restart RG - wait for all green
Restart DVR - wait for viewing.
Restart all others.
If it is happening on the DVR , do just the DVR.
After that you may need a new DVR.

Anyone else haveing trouble pausing and rewinding live TV???

This is very frustrating, seems to be HD more than anything, you hit pause and 30 seconds later it pauses then try to rewind and it takes a minute to rewind about 10 seconds. I'm not new to this, there is a decent buffer when I try this and I have reset the receiver, to no avail. this has been an ongoing problem for a while now and is very disappointing especially during NFL playoffs and especially since Verizon is charging us money to do just this. Verizon, don’t advertise being able to pause and rewind Live TV when we cant and don’t charge us for it, THIS NEEDS TO GET FIXED!!!

the pause and rw functions work fine. If you are having a problem with it, call tech support. Think about it, if there were problems with the funtions, Verizon would not be able to rent DVR's. While the DVR's do have some problems, the storage is too small, there are issues with the HDMI cables, the guide is frequently wrong, and the multiroom functions can be a bit flaky but the basic functions work normally.
Before calling tech support you can try this...
go to menu--->settings--->system information
when on the system information screen type these codes....
8888          this will flush crash logs that may be filling up the memory
2617            this will clear the nvmem
2601            this will reboot the stb
There are other codes but I've found that whenever my stb starts acting up, these 3 in this order will fix the issue. cant hurt to try.

New channel guide push wiped our dvr and pause / rewind of live tv doesn't work anymore

The new channel guide, which I am not fond of, we found out the day it appeared had wiped out all of our recorded programs, all of our recording schedules and the pause / rewind does not work on our dvr anymore. This would normally be ok waiting for a representative to contact us but having an autistic child at home and having to try and explain why all of the programming we allow him to watch has been wiped has caused a serious problem in our house. If we could have had warning that this was going to happen or even be a possibility we could have tried and done something to work with the situation. Now we are left with a situation where all we are doing is trying to calm our son down. Not fun...

We determined what the problem is. When the channel guide was pushed down, we were remodeling our master bedroom and had the receiver unplugged and unhooked from the wall. Our dvr was acting like a receiver with no hard drive. I plugged the bedroom receiver back in and rebooted the dvr. The dvr is acting as it should. Why would a push reprogram a dvr to act like a diskless receiver?

Pause / Rewind is unavailable on this channel

Since we have received the new software download, at the end of June, (TVclient version: 2.0.26479.145) that includes the addition of iplayer we are no longer able to use the pause or rewind live TV, a message on an orange background states 'Pause is not available on this channel' or 'Rewind is not available on this channel' has anybody else experienced this annoyance or offer an explanation. Other than this thank you for the iplayer and the other goodies like recorded programme 4 x super fast forward, and multiple programme recorded deletion in a single button press.

it can take a while for the system to catch up. i have just pulled the plug on my ethernet to my box and the system still says its connected
but in my defence it wasnt stated that iplayer was used just that it was there
no trees were harmed in the sending of this message but millions of electrons were terribly inconvenienced

How do I get the QT controller to show (play, pause, rewind, etc.)?

Hello all. Usually I don't want the QT controller to show up on the video I have on my website. I want viewers to watch the short clips complete without messing around them. So I did something (who knows what) to ensure that the controller would not show or that viewers could download (Kiosk mode I think).
I have now added a client only section to the site where I want to add the controller back so that clients can review work and make edit notes, etc. For this they need to be able to pause, rewind, etc. I can't for the life of me figure out how I get the controller to show back up. All the trues, falses, etc.
The video is encoded as h.264. The player shows up when played native from the desktop in the Quicktime Player - just not when it's on the website.

You need to add 16 pixels to height dimension in your html code (a 320X240 video would use 320X256).
The controller is on be default and no html tag is needed. To remove the controller you would use controller="false". So you must remove those lines in your page code.
Kioskmode doesn't remove the controller. It prevents downloading of the file.

Unable to create windows live id

Im not able to login to Market Places in my nokia Lumnia 800 handset to download network setup applications. I am unable to create windows live id.

You cannot download from Marketplace without any windows Live ID as your ID will reflect purchases you made on the store. To help you with your concern, If you have Hotmail or MSN account, you can use that as your LIve ID. You can also use WLAN connection to download Network Setup from marketplace.

Pause rewind fast forward ?

Our sale person sold us on a DVR set top bpx and two now DVR set top boxes for our three sets... she said we could do what we did with DISH...pause rewind and ff or jump forward. I cant figure out how and your web site doesnt seem to documment how. Is it possible we we mis lead for a sale. I hope not because weve already given up a lot to go with Verizon... its like stepping backword in time poor remotes poor customer service and poor user interfaces...

Download bar not moving for hours and unable to pause or resume

hello,
i'm trying to download a trial vsn of AE 5.5. i have installed the download assitant application, however, when i start the dowload nothing happens at all. it claims it is in the download queue and i can see it in the queue, however, it's progress bar does not move at all or give me an indication as to how long it is going to download. i am also unable to pause or resume it ?
any help most welcome.

Unable to connect E Live (Premiere 13 Evaluation) to internet

Although connected to internet (via aol/BT) when selecting E Live it says I have no internet connection. Is this a software fault in the programme or am I doing some thing wrong?

I attempted using it again today and to my surprise this time it worked!!
I don't know what was wrong but may be there was a site problem.

Unable to pause App update

Why am I unable to pause my app updates? Recently I got an opportunity to update a few apps when I was connected to a wifi network (since two of them were over 50MB), but they were never able to download. I decided to cancel them since I figured they were slowing certain things down, but I found out I couldn't, so I decided instead to pause them and wait until I was connected to wifi again, but when I tap them to pause the update, it was unresponsive. It just said "Waiting...". I restarted my iPhone and then tried to pause them again, nothing happened. What should I do?

Same problem here as well. Typically happening when connected to a bluetooth player in the car; sometimes even shutting down the phone won't cut it and it inevitably becomes a waiting game. The music app unfreezes after about 3 minutes, but it's happening with more frequency. Any advice on whether this is systemic or something wrong with my phone would be appreciated!

NC6000 laptop-unable to hear online live radio

I can play tv programmes through IPlayer but am unable to listen to live radio or old programmes.
I've downloaded Windows media to no avail.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Maybe someone else know of a quick fix, not me unfortunaley, it is also a while since I used 10.6.8.
At least the audio system works correctly.

Do you have any extentions in Safari preferences, such as Ad block, Flash block etc, these can stop streaming working? I cannot remember if these extentions were available for Snow Leopard.
Did you use a Proxy server in your network settings that as been disabled by the software upgrade, or have they set one up for you in network settings to use the school network?
Do use a particular station, if so what is it and I will try it on my computer. It may give some pointers to what is stopping on your computer.
and I should have asked this before, can you steam radio from other locations, say at home etc.

Can't Pause or Rewind Live TV

That doesn't work on my box. I still get the circle with a line through it.
Adding to what Robert suggested, you need to access what you want to pause etc, through your recordings, not while you watch it live

I know that this is highly technical but lots of people (contributors) here are technical and more info is better than no info. Yes, and I do know that for whatever reason comcast has turned-off that design feature or has accidently set the TSB Enable Status to False, OR changed Max Duration of TSB to 0 minutes (TSB = time shift buffer). It also is currently unknown to us the size of the removable SD card in GB that is provided with the xi3.

I am unable to use the Live View function when working with JavaScript in Dreamweaver.

I am currently trying to set up my own website with dreamweaver and am very familiar with Java and JavaScript. However, whenever I try to use the Live View function it never lets me. Additionally, I am unable to preview my work in a browser as the option to do so is greyed out.
However, I have noticed that when using html in a project, all these functions are available. Any ideas how I can be able to use these functions?

Is it possible you meant to say you were "very unfamiliar with Java and javascript" in your initial post?
Javascript doesn't do anything without an html page to affect.
Java and javascript are not the same thing, they're really not even related other than browsers can be made to render both. Java is its own programming language while javascript is basically html's helper monkey. I don't think it's even feasible to "understand javascript" without knowing html. My last post still stands, if you are coding javascript, you need an html based page to turn it into anything but plain code to a browser, so the option to view it will never come up. When you preview the page it's attached to, it will function correctly (as long as it has been attached to the page correctly).
Java on the other hand can create programs that run without a browser at all and I've never gotten close to touching that monster.
You may need to explain what you're trying to do and post the code here to get the help you need.
