Unable to play/transfer new purchases

I just purchased 4 songs. 2 downloaded properly to my lap top and ipod and the other 2 have an exclamation point after the numbered song under my purchases. Also, I can not drag them to my ipod nor can I play them on my computer. When I try to play them on the laptop, a window pops up and says"original file could not be found, would you like to locate it?" Yes, I click, then a bunch of numbers come up and I have no idea what to do after that. Help!! I am VERY frustrated!!!

See if you can find the file on your hard drive with these directions.

  • Automatically transfer new purchases...

Two computers running Snow Leopard, fully updated to 10.6.1 and iTunes 9. Both on the same WLAN (Time Capsule) and home sharing is configured using the same iTunes Account. Home sharing is working fine. Under "Settings" I checked to "Automatically transfer new purchases" and then proceeded to purchase the new Jay-Z album on my iMac. I see my MBP scrolling "Checking for new purchases" in iTunes, but then nothing downloads? Anyone have any idea whats going on?

Same situation here. I set the two computers up for Home Sharing, but when I purchased 4 songs from the iTunes store, form one computer, nothing showed up on the other computer.
What gives? Same account used on both machines, home sharing enabled, and transfer new music checked in Settings.
P.S. Actually it does work. The songs just do not appear under Purchased on the other library but in the Music library itself.

  • Home Share - Automatically Transfer New Purchases

Does Home Share's  Automatically Transfer New Purchases option transfer 'new' content, or just itunes purchases?
I have a few Mac, one RIP a CD with songs, do the other's get the music?

home sharing copies purchases from the iTunes store only !
music you add yourself must be transferred manually.

  • Transfer new purchases to different computer

I been using ITunes on my desk top at work. I purchased some songs from the ITunes store. Now, the computer does not have ability to burn CDs. I want to take my new purchases as well as the entire library and use my IPOD shuffle in sync with my home laptop. I have been able to transfer all my library ...except my purchases. How can I do that.

If you were to go to the top of this page and click "Support" then type "itunes transfer purchases" or similar you would get several articles from Apple on how this could be done.
    Here is one such article:

Your System Details List shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time Firefox starts.
The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be there.
You can check its content with a plain text editor (right-click: Open with) if you didn't create this file yourself.
The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.
You can delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.

  • Laptop crashed and how to transfer music from ipod back to laptop and won't transfer new purchases to ipod?

My laptop crashed about 2 days ago. I got it fixed and had to reinstall it. I had to reinstall itunes all over again. How do I transfer all my songs from my ipod including the ones that were from hardcopies and by hardcopies I mean cds I bought in real life and is on a disc. All of the songs are still on my ipod so how do I upload all of the songs and videos (purchases, music/songs from hardcopies/cds uploaded not bought from itunes, etc...?) How would I upload all of that back to itunes on my laptop? Another question is for some reason when I hook up my ipod to my laptop, I recently bought 23 songs about a day ago and it won't upload those purchases to my ipod, is it because I have all the hardcopies and downloads on my ipod that the itunes library doesnt have? Also, how would I sync my newest purchases to my ipod efficiently without deleting any of the hardcopies I uploaded before my laptop crashed?

If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.

  • Unable to play apple tv purchased movies in itunes

Movies purchased on AppleTV appear in iTunes movies but refuse to play.

In my case, it's because my credit card is maxed out and the last attempted purchase was declined.
I am currently bashing my head against the wall with itunes who state "since you have an unpaid order on your account, you are then responsible for processing the payment (of a declined purchase) to ensure that you have paid for the content that you have already received.
WHAT?? You're telling me itunes does not know I bought these movies?? There is not a single person on the planet ( I will lay money on this statement) who thinks a customer may not access to any of his/her purchases because the very last one was declined. Oh wait, except for some genius at itunes.
I have paid for and watched these movies for years. I have over $300 in movies that I cannot access because my last purchase was declined. This is the sort of thing that's makes apple easy to pick on.

  • I am unable to play a previously purchased item due to an authorization error

I just went to play a song that I previously purchased and get back a "This computer is not authorized to play this content error". But when I attempt to authorize the computer I get a "this computer is already authorized to play this content" response. Only any attempt to actually play the content brings back the first error.

    Hi,
Delete the track from your itunes library and move to trash. Go into itunes Store > under quicklinks > select purchased then tab Not on this Computer then redownload track.

  • HT203167 I set up a pc with iTunes and have my library but cannot get to new purchases, I get a pop up that says "computer not authorized" How do I authourize?

I set up an PC with iTunes and have my library but cannot get it to transfer new purchases, I get a pop up that states "computer not authorized" how do I authorize computer? account originated on a Mac

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

    Hello Fanzaria,
Congratulations on your new computer!  It sounds like you are trying to transfer your iTunes purchases from your iPod to iTunes on your computer, but you are repeatedly getting an authorization prompt.
Is it possible that some of these songs were purchased with an Apple ID you may have been using at another time?  You mentioned that you don’t see these purchases under your past purchases in the iTunes Store.  I recommend checking to see if they are hidden under your current Apple ID using the steps in the section titled “To unhide your purchases” in the following article:
iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4919
If you are not seeing all the songs you expect to see after checking for hidden purchases, I recommend searching for an older Apple ID that you may have used.  Use the steps in this article to find your Apple ID:
Apple ID: How to find your Apple ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5625
If you find an alternate Apple ID that you used, authorize iTunes with that Apple ID:
Authorize or deauthorize your Mac or PC
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1420
I also recommend reviewing the following article for the issue you are experiencing.  I recommend reviewing the full article but specifically the section to Remove the SC Info folder:

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.

    Hello, Jagatheswary.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The most common cause for this issue would be media or Apps present in your library that is purchased with another Apple ID.  The article below will walk you through the process of verifying if that is the case or correcting the issue if not.

  • The transfer of purchased music to a new iphone fails. What to do?

After the home key on my old iPhone 4 failed I bought a new iPhone 5S. To transfer all purchased content to the new device, I transferred the purchased content and pulled a backup from the old unit, then restored the new unit from the backup I just made. All contacts and settings were tranfered successfully, as were all apps.
Ringtones and all purchased music, however, could not be transferred. The files show up in the iTunes library all right, and I can play all content there, but I cannot transfer any of it. Trying to retore the music through the iTunes Store by selecting "not on this iPhone" brings up the following message: "all available content transferred". Yet the library on the phone is empty.
It seems to me like all purchased content (books, music and films) is impossible to transfer or recover. Does anyone have any suggestions other than switching to pirated content from here on forward?
    Many thanks.

Anything you want to transfer, just copy it to a USB flash drive or external hard drive, and from there to the new computer.
If you want to keep your iTunes library intact, as far as playcounts, playlists, etc, a few extra steps are required. First, on the old machine, run Library > Consolidate. Then copy the entire iTunes folder to the external device, and from there to the new machine.

  • How can i transfer my new purchased itunes apps to my itunes library

actually having several problems, installed itunes on a new computer, have transfered/sync all of my existing ipod touch apps/music successfully. I purchased new apps and a movie, but they do not appear on my itunes library, how can i transfer these new purchases, to my new itunes library on the new computer, so they can be synced to my ipod touch. also, my computer is online and my ipod is online, but when i connect the ipod touch to my computer, and i try to update the software update, it says it cant because its not connected to the internet?...any info on either of these topics. thanks

    Welcome to the discussions,
as already mentioned, use File->transfer purchases to copy your apps and bought media to your computer, or right click on the device in the device list and choose "transfer purchases"
