Unable to power up MBP from battery

I disconnected my MagSafe power connection and left my MBP in sleep mode. When I returned and went to wake MBP, I noticed that the power was completely off. I am unable to start with battery power, but am able to power up if the MagSafe is connected.
The battery is a recent replacement, appears to be charged and calibrated correctly. I also tried resetting SMC and PRAM. All to no avail.

Thanks, S.U., for your feedback.
After trying all of the suggestions I read in the forum, I decided to take my MBP to the Apple Store for some help from one of the Geniuses. He had a battery tester that indicated that I had a bad battery. So, I "bit the bullet" and purchased a new Apple battery to replace the "aftermarket" battery I purchased from Amazon.com. I had only had the latter for about six weeks, so I was surprised that it went bad (or was defective). Now, I'm hoping that I will be able to get a refund from Amazon. Moral: Beware the inexpensive substitutes!

my phone unable to power on. and the battery always low. when i charged my phone, still can't power on. what should i do?

Visit an Authorized Apple Service Provider to check the battery, you can also contact Apple Support and talk to them. They can check the battery online.
Or visit this page to do that: iPhone - Contact Support - Apple Support
Click on Apple Support, then on ->Battery, Power &Charging ->Battery questions and troubleshooting, and follow the instructions.

I am planning on buying a new MacBook Pro later this year, but for the meantime I'm not sure if I should buy a new power adaptor, or if this is a problem with my MacBook Pro. Also does anyone know where I can buy a battery in the UK for 1st Gen MacBook Pro.

OWC has batteries for 1,1 generation MacBook Pros and they ship internationally - http://eshop.macsales.com/.
Your best bet for a power adapter is to get one from Apple. Third-party adapters just don't seem to be reliable (or safe). You can also buy a replacement battery directly from Apple, of course, but they're a bit more expensive.
    Good luck,

  • From Battery power to running off the mains.

    Hi guys
Just wondering - when I'm running my iBook off the battery and then decide to run it off the mains again, do I need to shutdown and then turn on the mains and then restart? Or can I just simply have it running off of the battery and then turn on the mains switch when I want to goto mains power?

You can just plug your iBook in whenever it needs to be charged. There's no need to restart/shutdown when switching from battery to power adapter.
    Hope this helps,

  • Peep sounds when working from battery power

    Hello
    I bought a new HP DV6-1340 laptop
I hear some strange peep sound from the notebook hardware when its working from battery power.
When working from outlet power there is no peep sound from the hardware.
Maybe its because the battery is new or something there wrong ?
    Thanks in advance for help

I solved it my self. It was OK (no buzz and fuzz) when it was plugged in (when the electicity line was down once and I was running on the UPS battery).....

since installing Lion, I am unable to add to iPhoto from an e mail or desk top. Something about power pc.  I thought I had a Mac! What should I do to restore the facility?

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • When running on battery power, my MBP shuts down after 30 mins..please help

this has been happening for the last two weeks; whenever i run my MBP on battery, it goes blank/shuts down after about 30 mins...would start back on, but shut down even before the login screen comes! i checked the battery display under the laptop-it showed 3 green lights!! TIA!! i bought my MBP off the apple website last september!

With your symptoms, most likely, yes. If you have a 17" MBP, you are out of spec (based on Apple's specification of 80% health for 300 cycles). If you have a 15" MBP, you're in spec (84% health), but your symptoms indicate a problem (i.e. a defective battery). So, contact AppleCare!
You can't calibrate now. I asked because if a battery goes too long (150-220 cycles) without calibration, the "sudden loss of power" can result.
    Hope this helps...
Graham, that's why I inquired about calibration, but with the OP's cycle count, that's not the issue. Also, FYI the "battery condition" information is part of System Profiler with Leopard; the OP lists Tiger, and did post all the information available under Tiger.

  • When charging and using, ipad 2 is 100% battery, does ipad use the power from the power adapter or from the battery?

I have a quention, when i am charging and using my ipad 2 at the same time, if the battery of ipad is fully 100%, does ipad use the power to work from the power adapter only or from the battery only or both? Thanks!

YOu don't have to have your receipt. Apple should have a record of how long you've had the device. If you bought it in april 2012, then your 1 year warranty against manufacturer's defects is almost up. You should find your local apple store, make an appointment and take it in.

  • T61 leds from battery, power, USB and Ethernet blinking

I've cannot run laptop with and without battery, it's not charging and not power on without battery and on ac. When I plug in into AC thouse leds still blinking but computer don't run?
    Know some solution?

Your question is not very clear here. I believe you're having power issues with the unit?
If your laptop can power on with the battery and not with the AC adapter, you may need another AC adapter. If you have a spare AC adapter, try to swap adapters and see if this fixes the problem. Tech support can order one for you if your unit still has warranty coverage.
You may also want to check the yellow AC port (called the DC-in cable) on your unit to make sure that it is not loose. If your AC adapter fits very loosely when it is connected into the AC port, you will need to replace either the DC-in cable internally or replace the systemboard
If you laptop can run off the AC adapter just fine, but loses power the moment you remove the AC adpater with just the battery still in, you will need another battery.
If the battery indicator is always flashing yellow and the battery doesnt charge at maximum capacity, consider replacing the battery.
    Hope this helps,
    Mark
Do NOT PM me with technical issues. Post in the forum for assistance. Thanks

Do not seem to be able to backup iPad via iTunes on to my PC.
Message after connecting is "iTunes was unable to load class information from Sync Services, Reconnect or try later"
Have tried that but get the same result.
    Remedies I've tried are:
    wait and try again
    reboot
    reload iTunes
NB hp is a relatively new machine and has previously backed up quite happily.
    Can anyone assist?

    RHoodnkt-
Try rebooting the iPad.  Hold down both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow.  It takes a minute or two to restart.
Also be sure your iPad battery is not completely discharged.

  • My late 2013 MBP Retina battery gets only about 4 hrs. What might be wrong?

My late 2013 MBP Retina battery gets only about 4 hrs. What might be wrong?

    I found a solution!
Perhaps this is just temporary, but I have my display up and working again.
Although the symptoms are different were a bit different, the solution here worked:
    http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/120259/grey-screen-after-login-blue-scr een-of-death-from-cmdr
As I was able to connect to my HD via an external monitor, in the finder, I went to:
    1. Macintosh HD --> System --> Library --> Extensions
    2. From there I moved all of the files that started with ADM and ATI (19 in total for me) to a folder on my desktop. (You will need to enter your admin password for this)
    3. Next was a restart.
    4. Then my display started working again.
    5. After that, I transferred the files back into my Extensions folder.
    6. I then did another restart with my fingers crossed and breath held. It worked.
Also... During the last few days of trying to find a fix, I restored a Mavericks backup to my computer away from Yosemite.
I'm very sure this problem occurred when I put my MBP to sleep, disconnected the power in its sleep, while something was connected to a USB port and unplugging the USB device (for me an iPhone charger) while the MBP was closed.
I hope this helps the next person.

  • HT4061 iphone 4 crashed, unable to power on?

My phone was on. Then suddenly, it started vibrating, black screen. Unable to stop the vibrating which after 2 minutes stopped on its own.
Now the phone is not charging and I'm unable to power it.
Am I on my own with this problem? Any advice welcomed.
    Thanks

    Hello Audrey,
I would be concerned too if my iPhone was not powering on.  I found an article with steps you can take when you encounter an issue like this.  I recommend following the steps below:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • 17" MBP Uni - Battery (mAh): 12000 or 17000 - Check your batteries!

    Hey All,
This may be very premature, but it would seem some people are reporting 17000(mAh) on their batteries after calibration, while most are reporting 12000(mAh) or so.
The few with 17000(mAh) are reporting a pretty significant battery life extension over the other people, but it has yet to be determined if this is due to proper calibration, or some lucky users are getting better batteries.
I encourage you all to take a look and post your results. Also, be sure to post whether you have calibrated the battery or not as it may have something to do with it.
    Here's how you do this:
    - Goto The "Apple" in the Top Left Corner, select "About This Mac"
    - Select "More Info..."
    - Goto "Power" on the side
    - Copy all info from "Battery Information" (Don't need System Power Settings)
    Thanks!

I think somethings wrong with this MBP, It's been slow since day one. I haven't calibrated the battery. I am assuming that in order to do so correctly you just follow the instructions that come up when you search the desktop help...
Also, for longevity and battery health, should the computer be plugged in and charging anytime it is possible or is it good to sometimes let it run off solely the battery??
How do you all treat your batteries?
    Thanks in advance.
