Unable to print any PDF file on my laptop computer.

I get a response on my screen that says 1 - the document could not be printed and 2 - there were no pages selected to print.  Of course I made sure to try all types of page print selections to no avail.  What is funny, though, I can print any other type of document - word, excel, email.  What can I do to remedy this problem?

Hi  Not much help to you maybe but I have what sounds like the same problem. I can open ANY PDF file but they will not print. I can send them to my Son's laptop and he can send them to our wireless printer and they print - no problem. Like you I can print other formats of docs. I've asked all sorts of people "in the know" (supposedly !) and nothing that I have tried has worked. re-booting , re-installing,trying different versions of Adobe Reader,anti-virus , spy-bot , C-Cleaner - you name it , I''ve tried it and NOTHING !!  I'm just wondering if it's a breakdown of component in the tower?   Sorry I can't help you.   Regards Mark

    Here is what worked for me:
      My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

    According to your User Agent you posted this question using Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8.1. Are you having a problem with Firefox? What Firefox version?
    You said you are having a problem opening PDF files on your system. Can you explain that better? Mozilla Support can help you with opening PDF files in Firefox, which uses a built-in PDF reader. Maybe one of these articles will help?

    Suddenly I'm unable to print any pdf to any of my 3 printers. Running Windows 8.1. I did have Acrobat 11 installed. When i would  try to print I receive the message "unable to print document". When I click OK i then get a new message stating "no pages were selected to print". However, the dialog box clearly indicates that the proper pages WERE selected to print. i finally decided to uninstall Acrobat. i reinstalled Acrobat DC and still nothing prints.     Juanrva is correct, the kb document is of absoltuely no help. I already found the link to the KB document and  performed all those suggestions. Actually, I'm a bit disappointed that I'm referred back to a troubleshooting link that I was already referred to! All of my drivers are up to date and, like Juanrva, I, too, can print from any other software or program. My issue, though, developed 2 days ago with XI. When I couldn't find a way to fix it, I uninstalled XI with the intention of reinstalling it but DC was the only install option. After installing DC i tried to print again with the same results. I then tried to print as an image and that doesn't work either. I'm tempted to say that I'd like to go back to XI but I don't think that's a good solution. There was no warning, I could print from Xi on Wednesday at 7:44 PM but could not at 8:15 PM. I didn't upload or download anything, did not install anything new and my security and anti-virus program indicates there has been no suspicious activity. In the meantime, I have people sending me PDF's daily, all of which I need to print but cannot.

    Your ps file should be good, the problem likely resides elswehere. Maybe in your acrobat install, distillers settings. what error did distiller give?
    Mine ran good and got a multi page document, here is a screenshot to help you troubleshoot.
    On mac go to system preferences / print and fax / and change your default printer if you have another option. I know sounds like this should not help, but there are problems like Illustrator for example not making .pdfs if you do not have a printer chosen or an old or corrupt .ppd assigned.

    Can you try the following things
    1. Open Reader XI from the Reader dektop icon or through the programs menu. Open Edit > Preferences > General > 'Select Defualt PDF Handler' > select Reader XI and then click Apply.
    If step 1 does not fix the problem then try repairing the application using the following steps.
    Repair Adobe Reader XI from Control Panel > Programs and Features > Select Adobe Reader XI and click on Change and then select Repair

    Starting on Friday all of a sudden I am unable to print pdf files.  I get several messages that pop up like "the document could not be printed" and immediately after this pops up "there were no pages selected to print" Sometimes I get this message as well "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (0:104)  What happened?  I never had problems printing pdf files in the past.

    Operating system?  Reader version?
    Did you search the forum for this problem?  I don't know how many hundred times I have already given the answer to the same problem.

  • Can't print any pdf files

    Using Windows 7 Home Premium Operating System.
    I open pdf file and go to File/Print.  Nothing happens for few seconds, then doc closes up.  Not just on a few files, but all.
    Printing works fine on MS reader and all program files.
    I uninstalled all Adobe programs and reinstalled Adobe reader.  Same thing.
    Any suggestions?

    I can access through the url that server.
    From my desktop I access through an url my Oracle APEX application.
    It has been configures with:

    Print Server Protocol: HTTP
    Print Server Host Address: the IP address of my BI Publisher server
    Print Server POrt: 9704 (from instllation of BI)
    Print Server Script: /xmlpserver/convert
    On the page I want to print, it is configured with:
    Download:
    PDF option is checked.
    When I click on Action -> Download -> PDF for this page, I get the error:
    <file>. pdf file can not be opened because the file type is not supported or because it is damaged (because, for example as an e-mail attachment is not sent and correctly decoded)
    Does someone has an idea what the problem is and where I should investigate further?

    If you are trying to print to the Adobe PDF printer and that fails, try using print-to-file. Then open the file in Distiller. If the result is the desired PDF, then check for AcroTray running as a background application. Sometimes it has to be restarted, but should be in your startup (you can check msconfig from the start>run menu to see if AcroTray is there).

    How very frustrating. I'm not aware of any system outages. Have you tried signing out, and then signing back in? I would also suggest that you clear your browser cache. Are you using the same web browser as you were when you able to convert without issue?
