Unable to Print from iPhoto from MacBook

Trying to print from iPhoto using MacBook Intel. In version 5 there was a print button on the tool bar. In version 6 there is no print button on the tool bar and when I go to customize the tool bar, there is no printer option to choose. So from there I just went to FILE, PRINT. Nothing will print on a networked HP laser jet printer from iPhoto. If I drag the picture to the desktop, it is a JPEG and prints w/o any problems. However, I'm not able to crop the photo because it opens in Preview view. Has anyone had problems such as this printing directly from iPhoto itself? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. How are you connected to the printer, wired or wireless?
They did away with the Print button but just type Command-P to bring it up. Try going into the Print Setup menu and selecting the printer before starting the print cycle. Try repairing disk permissions with Disk Utility.
You might try removing and then reinstalling the printer driver for the HP with Printer Setup Utility.
What version of iPhoto and the system are you running?

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. I am unable to print color photos from i photo using a Brother MFC-6490CW all in one. The photos appear to be in grayscale. I have checked the printer settings, but for some reason I am not able to access the color management on my printer from printer set up. It only gives me the standard option. I have spent hours checking Bother's website and Apple's and I am not able to come up with a valid answer. I know that the color print works. If I print something from the internet of from outlook it will print in color. I know all of my cartridges are in working order, I have cleaned the print head on my Brother, but I am still not able to print photos in color!!!
What puzzles me the most is why I am unable to really access the color management menu on my printer? It just does not come up. I have the option from paper handling to print photos, but this has nothing to do with the quality. I have also tried printing the photo from an Adobe PDF file and I still have the same problem. In the Print dialogue box click on the little triangle to the right of the name of the printer. That will expand the dialogue box.

Connect the iPad to your MBP and open iTunes. In the photos section of your iPad in iTunes you can choose selected albums, Events or the entire iPhoto library to sync to your iPad.

I am running Acrobat 8.0 on windows 7. Toshiba Qosmio 64 bit. I am unable to print to pdf from any of my applications. Office, Mozilla, Lotus 1-2-3 and others. When I choose the print option. And from the drop down menu choose Adobe PDF as the printer. And when I click to continue I get the little metered bar showing it's working, but then I get an error in the printer que. I don't even get an option what to save it as or where to save it to. It just goes straight to the metered bar showing its working. And it does this for all my programs where I can print to pdf. Can anyone help me? Also, this is a student version. Could the student version be unable to do this?

Although Acrobat 8 is not supported on Win 7, you can try a few things. First, apply all updates to Acrobat 8. If this doesn't help, check to make sure that the PDF port was created. If not, you can try:
Open Control Panel, select Printers
* Click Add a Printer
* Click Add a local printer
* Select Use an existing port (should be preselected), change the port to "Desktop \*.pdf (Adobe PDF Port), click Next
* On the next page, click Have Disk...
* Click Browse and browse to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF (or wherever you have Acrobat installed), click OK.
* It should now show a series of "Adobe PDF Converter" entries. Select the first one and click Next
* Change the printer name if desired, uncheck the box to use it as a default printer, click Next
* Do not print a test page, click Finish
* Find your new printer in Printers. Right click on it and select Properties, Advanced
* Click "Print directly to the printer", click OK

Unable to print to pdf from a pdf

We're having a issue where we're unable to print to pdf from a pdf with acrobat 9 std, so far a 64bit machine. We get the following errors
"the document could not be printed"
"there were no pages selected to print"
We see the issue with all pdfs. Acrobat 7 std works fine, as does printing to pdf from other applications with 9 std. So far it only effects acrobat 9 std. We've repaired the installation and updated to the latest. We do have however only see this with one machine, but we haven't looked past this one machine yet...Any ideas?

XP pro 64bit. Just updated to 9.3.3, still have the error being thrown.
The user fills in a form from our intranet and then prints it with the adobe printer creating the illusion that its write protected. I'm not one to stop them, given the forms are low value and all. Possibly if the process is uncomplicated (that's key here) then saving the document to the desktop and making the change and write protecting it there before transmittal might be an alternative, as long as it doesn't rely on passwords and keys...

My approach would be to Print to PDF, use Preview.app to export the PDF to PNG and drag the PNG file into iPhoto.

I am unable to print pdf files from any website. Suspect an incorrect setting; but, not sure how to correct it.

Back up all data.
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

You will need to access that PDF on your computer first, before you can print it — unless that PDF is corrupted, which occasionally happens. Your printer needs to be configured and working.
Default PDF web-browser plug-in in Safari, latest (Firefox/Chrome) also built-in.
Click on the remote PDF link to open in browser
On Mavericks, you will need to click through security challenges for the PDF
File menu > Print
Right-click on remote PDF file and then choose Download Linked File As...Open that file in /Applications/Preview.appFile > print

With PDF imaged in browser, either select print icon from the plug-in toolbar, or mouse over the bottom one inch of displayed document and you will see a printer icon in the popup toolbar. Use that.

After installing update 11.0.07, I have been unable to print pdf douments from websites displayed in I.E. 11

I just installed 11.0.07 and since then have been unable to print pdf documents from websites displayed in I.E. 11 (32 bit). The problem did not exist until I installed the update. Opening the same sites with Chrome solves the problem, but some of the important sites I use, (FAA WebOPPS for instance) don't work with Chrome or anything other than I.E. for that matter. Does anyone know if Adobe is aware of the bug and working on a fix?

Let me put it in context.I am a developer, and in my work we create a flex application a few years ago and we are providing support to this application. Since 2 days ago th button we create in our application for View PDF just stopped working. We use this code:

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

Unable to print Contact Sheets from iPhoto

Hi there,
Since installing Lion 10.7.5 on my Mac Pro I no longer get the option to print Contact Sheets from iPhoto. I'm running quite an old version of it I think (Version 6.0.6), however this was no problem before the upgrade.
Can anyone suggest a solution for this?

I just fired up my iPhoto 6.0.6 under Mt. Lion and I have no contact option in that version either. You'll have to upgrade to at least iPhoto 7 (08) in order to get contact sheets back. So you might as well upgrade to the latest iPhoto from the App Store.
If you also want the latest versions of iWeb and iDVD (which have been discontinued by Apple) you'll have to purchase a copy of the iLife 11 disc from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: iLife 11.

I have used my MacBook Air to organise photos whilst away into events and entered descriptions. Now I am back I want to move these events as they are to my Apple Mac. How can I do this and keep them in their original events?

You'll need to use iPhoto Library Manager to move the Events from one Library to another. It's the only way to move all versions and metadata between Libraries.
If you don't want all versions (and so lose you non-destructive editing facility and some metadata) export from iPhoto on the MBA and then import to the iPhoto on the iMac.

I am unable to print (any website) from the latest Firefox, but print fine from Internet Explorer. Using Windows Vista on a desktop machine.

printer advances page and spits it out with either nothing or a single garbled line printed on it instead of a whole web page. This is independent of which web site and even happens with web sites that have a specific PRINT or PRINTER FRIENDLY VERSION button. Printing is fine from Internet Explorer. Unsure about Chrome. Printing from Firefox worked fine until I downloaded newest version. Operating system is Windows Vista on a 64 bit desktop computer.
