Unable to print to any session mapped printers

Hello,
I've got a new, Azure VM set up and I'm trying to get it to print to any of the printers that have been mapped through my RDP session.  However, whenever I try to print a test page -- regardless of which printer I choose -- the print job always fails,
and there's no detailed information provided by the error to identify the issue.
I'm trying to print to a network printer that prints fine on the host I use to connect to my VM.  It does appear to map the printer fine and it even appears online as I can view the printer's properties.  I just cannot print to it or any of the
other mapped printers.
What are some common solutions to this problem?  If I can't print from my Azure VM it is largely useless to my business.  Please help!

Check the Canon and OKI printer websites for Mountain Lion driver support. Hopefully you can download the drivers from there.

  • Unable to print in Illustrator CS3

I am now encountering my recurring problem - trying to print one of my maps.  To give some background, this is for a boardgame and consists of almost solely Illustrator effects.  There is a small amount of material from Photoshop incorporated.  It consists of some 20 layers of various effects, and was generated in Illustrator CS 3 (13.0.2) under Mac OS X 10.6.8.
Over the years, I have generated a number of large maps, for various efforts.  These range in size from about 6-12 sq.ft.  All the maps are generated in Adobe Illustrator, ranging from Illustrator 10 to CS3.  The maps are generated on beefy hardware platform (MacPro, various iterations, lots of RAM), with no problems in generating the map artwork.
However, over the years, when it comes to trying to print of of these  maps, I am almost completely unable to print them.  I dont have access to a large format printer, so I try and print these using various small size printers, and tiling the pages.  However, this inevitablely fails.  I am unable to print on any printer, under any OS (Mac OS X or Win XP), with any hardware, with any settings I have tried.***
The current effort is an .AI file of about 100 MB is size. I have also saved this same file as a PDF (flattened layers from AI, ~100MB in size), and as a PDF without Illustrator editing capability (this reduces the file size to 12 MB).
I have tried using Illustrator or Acrobat to print these documents.  At best, I can sit there and watch the status bar creep to 100%, and then sit there for 15 minutes, at which point I give up.  At no time do any of the printers show any activity.
I have tried printing just one tile (page) of the map, and it does the same thing.
This is of course intensely frustrating to encounter this again.  I cannot figure out why this is happening.  Is there some sort of pre-press operations I need to do ?
    thanks,
    Tom
***  There is one exception.  I have a small Brother HL-2270DL printer attached to my home network.  Using Illustrator, I can print the entire tiled map in a matter of a few minutes.  I have no idea why this works. Acrobat still totally fails.  As satisfying as actually printing something out, I need a color print.

Mike, while I am currently struggling with this one file, this same issue has dogged me for many years, over several different files, with, as far as I can tell, nothing in common, other than I generated them (the problem lies between the keyboard and the chair ? : )  Each of these maps is heavy AI work, with gratuitous use of textures, patterns, swatches, brushes and feathering effects.  There is a little bit of PS Placed artwork, but not much.
I will see if leaving out the placed artwork makes things work better, but the amount of Placed artowrk is pretty small.
What really baffles me, is that in its most distilled format (PDF with no Illustrator editing), the file is only 12 MB.  I cant fathom how a 12 MB file can present a challenge to any computer made in thre last 5 years.
I havet not yet explored the Advanced printing options, and I dont know what most of that does (even after doing AI for 8 years or more, I am still a hack).
Is there a good book that explains the different printing options and strategies ?  I am flying somewhat blind when it comes to something other than simple printing.
One further data point:  I opened up the previously mentioned 12 MB PDF, using Photoshop.  I rasterized the document to the tune of 300 DPI, and then saved it as a Photoshop PDF.  My thought was that opening in PS destroys any vector information and saving back out as a PS PDF then puts it into a form I could print from work.  From work, I opened this file on a Windows machine with plenty of horsepower and resources.  I attempted to print to a beefy Xerox 7xxx series office printer.  I tiled the document an hit "print".  The progress bar stayed at 0% for 20 minutes.  During that time, the CPU load ranged from ~5-20%, and the free RAM stayed at about 1.7 GB.  I checked the printer during this time, and it registered a print job, but no progress was made.  I gave up after 20 minutes.
    thanks,
    Tom

  • Print from Win XP to printers on Mac 10.4 network

I have a small home network consisting of an iMac and two G4 Powerbooks all running OS 10.4.4 with three printers all connected to iMac host computer. Powerbooks are connected via DLink DI-524 wireless router. I have no trouble printing to any of my printers(Epson Stylus 740, Lexmark X75, HP Photosmart 8250)from any of my computers (either wirelessly or directly conected). I just purchased a notebook running Win XP(SP2)and tried to connect to my printers using Bonjour for Windows. Of my three printers, I can only get one (Lexmark) to print using the Bonjour address. So the other printers I tried configuring to print via the 631 port; however, when I attempt to print this way, the material spools and says "printing" (on both printers) but nothing happens. Any help will be much appreciated.

Did you ever solve this? I have virtually the same problem. I have an HP Deskjet 895 C connected via USB to a G4 running 10.3.9. Two ibooks connect via Airport flawlessly, and I can even share files between them and a Dell running XP professional, but no printer.
The solution you used for your Lexmark might be good enough to solve my problem, but I'm not sure how to do even that.

  • NT_STATUS_NO_MEMORY errors when printing in Tiger to Windows printers

I cannot print to any windows printers using Tiger 10.4.4
Here is a list of printers I have tried:
HP Laserjet 4100N served from Windows 2003 server.
Xerox Docucenter 2240 PS served from Windows 2003 server.
HP Laserjet 4000N served from Windows 2003 server.
Samsung ML-1710 served from Windows XP Professional workstation.
I will get either one of the following errors:
    NTSTATUS_LOGONFAILURE
    NTSTATUS_NOMEMORY
This happens both at home (the XP workstation) and at work (the win2K3 server). None of the Macs at work (6 all running tiger) can print to any of the printers, they all could print under OS 10.3.9.
Something seems really broken with the Samba printing subsystem.
I can mount fileshares off the same machine with the same credentials so I'm quite confident it is not an authentication issue.
I also have no difficulty finding the printer, I simply cannot print to it.
I have used native drivers and gimp-print drivers all with no success.
Also note that gimp-print drivers do not work on Intel based Macs (they just crash).

I can't use the HP JetDirect protocol for some odd reason it fails to connect when I specify the IP address of the printer.
I get a NTSTATUS_NOMEMORY error printing to the LaserJet 4000N next to my office using the SAMBA printing mechanism. This occurrs with every Mac in the building.
It would be really nice if Apple could update the samba version to the latest release from samba.org to at least see if this fixes the issue.
From the looks of these forums, there appears to be plenty of problems with Windows printers with the 10.4.4 update.

When I click OK i then get a new message stating "no pages were selected to print". Juanrva is correct, the kb document is of absoltuely no help. I already found the link to the KB document and  performed all those suggestions. Actually, I'm a bit disappointed that I'm referred back to a troubleshooting link that I was already referred to! All of my drivers are up to date and, like Juanrva, I, too, can print from any other software or program. My issue, though, developed 2 days ago with XI. When I couldn't find a way to fix it, I uninstalled XI with the intention of reinstalling it but DC was the only install option. After installing DC i tried to print again with the same results. I then tried to print as an image and that doesn't work either. I'm tempted to say that I'd like to go back to XI but I don't think that's a good solution. There was no warning, I could print from Xi on Wednesday at 7:44 PM but could not at 8:15 PM. I didn't upload or download anything, did not install anything new and my security and anti-virus program indicates there has been no suspicious activity. In the meantime, I have people sending me PDF's daily, all of which I need to print but cannot.

  • Unable to print to Adobe printer in any program including Office 2010

My sustem is a Windows 7 64 bit.  I have Office 2010 installed as well as Adobe Acrobat Pro X ver 10.1.3.  I am unable to print to the Adobe PDF printer.  If I select it in Notepad it is Greyed out.  If I select it in an Office product like Word or Excel it shows that it is READY.  However if I select it so I can print to PDF I get an error message "Word cannot print.  There is no printer installed."
If I got to Devices and Printers Adobe PDF is listed.  If I right click on it and select "Printing Preferences"  I get an error message "Operation could not be completed."
If I select Printer Properties I get an error message "The "Adobe PDF Converter" printer driver is not installed on this computer.  Some printer properties will not be accessible unless you install the printer driver.  Do you want to install the driver now?"
If I click YES a wizard pops up, the Add Printer Driver Wizard.  I select Next, choose either any of the Adobe PDF Converter Versions or HAVE DISK, the NEXT.  If I select have disk I go to the proper place "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF" and select the file AdobePDF.inf.  I then select the top Adobe PDF Converter and select Next.  It says You have successfully completed the Add Printer Driver Wizard.  You are about to add "Adobe PDF Converter, x64, Type - User Mode.  I click Finish and get another error.
This error says "Unable to install Adobe PDF Converter, Type - User Mode, x64 driver.  Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000002)."  I select OK and Adobe PDF Properties pops up.  It has tabs like General, Sharing, Ports, Advanced, Color Management & Security. I can click on any of them and make any changes but once I click on OK and close the window and then Right Click on Adobe PDF there is no change to my results.  I still get all of the above errors.
I have tried deleting the Adobe PDF printer and then selecting in Programs & Featues (Old ADD/REMOVE) the Adobe Acrobat X Pro item and right clicking on it and the selecting Change.  It goes through almost a reinstall, it adds the Adobe Printer back but NO CHANGE.  I still can't print to Adobe PDF.
    Can someone help?

Can you try 'Print as Image' (Advanced button on Print panel).

  • Unable to print to pdf from any of my applications

    Hello,
I am running Acrobat 8.0 on windows 7. Toshiba Qosmio 64 bit. I am unable to print to pdf from any of my applications. Office, Mozilla, Lotus 1-2-3 and others. When I choose the print option. And from the drop down menu choose Adobe PDF as the printer. And when I click to continue I get the little metered bar showing it's working, but then I get an error in the printer que. I don't even get an option what to save it as or where to save it to. It just goes straight to the metered bar showing its working. And it does this for all my programs where I can print to pdf. Can anyone help me? Also, this is a student version. Could the student version be unable to do this?
    Thank you,

Although Acrobat 8 is not supported on Win 7, you can try a few things. First, apply all updates to Acrobat 8. If this doesn't help, check to make sure that the PDF port was created. If not, you can try:
    Open Control Panel, select Printers
    * Click Add a Printer
    * Click Add a local printer
    * Select Use an existing port (should be preselected), change the port to "Desktop \*.pdf (Adobe PDF Port), click Next
    * On the next page, click Have Disk...
    * Click Browse and browse to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF (or wherever you have Acrobat installed), click OK.
    * It should now show a series of "Adobe PDF Converter" entries. Select the first one and click Next
    * Change the printer name if desired, uncheck the box to use it as a default printer, click Next
    * Do not print a test page, click Finish
    * Find your new printer in Printers. Right click on it and select Properties, Advanced
    * Click "Print directly to the printer", click OK
These last steps are detailed in the following discussion.

    Hello,
It isn't the fw in Network you want o use or look at, that's for something completely different.
My first suspect is the Power Adapter on the LaCie has gone.
At the Apple Icon at top left>About this Mac, then click on More Info, then click on Hardware>Firewire, what is listed there?
    Reset the Firewire bus
If your Firewire or USB isn't recognizing any device.  A solution which has worked for some whose hard drive became invisible in 10.4 was simply to follow these four steps to reset the Firewire/USB bus:
    1. Shut the machine down.
    2. UNPLUG the power lead to the computer and any firewire/USB drive or devices.
    3. leave it for 10 minutes.
    4. Connect back up and reboot.

  • Unable to Print to Epson printers using LPD on PPC, works on Intel

After updating to Leopard, I am unable to print to my network printer Epson 870 and CX6400 from my G5 Imac. Everything worked fine with Mac OS 10.4.x. It works from my MacBook running Leopard. I am unable to select (even using browse) the appropriate Gutenprint V.5.1.3 driver. It fails to output to print server. From my MacBook all my network printer works - Samsung ML-1710, Epson 870 and CX6400. From the PPC Imac, only the Samsung works.
If I share the printer from the MacBook, the iMac sees the printers and automatically selects the appropriate Gutenprint driver. I am using IPD. I also tried Window. I can not select the Gutenprint drivers. For the 870, I tried selecting Epson Stylus Color and Photo series 1.3 and Epson CX6000 series driver.
I've reloaded the drivers from Apple and also tried Epson's drivers. I haven't tried loading the standard (non-Apple) gutenprint drivers.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have the answer. It took quite a while but I know why the 3880 won't print from Photoshop 4 with Maverick. It is due to the Epson .icc page description files. The way to solve the problem is to make your own .icc. OK, so you don't know how to do it. This is what I did so now I get the quality prints I expect from an expensive printer.
You need to go to www.datacolor.com/spyderprint and purchase the Spyderprint hardware and software. It comes as a package for $300 to $350 depending on if you get a sale. The software will print on the 3880 test sheets of color blocks. With the hardware reader you then read the colors on the test sheets printed. What this does is match the monitor image with the printer, ink and paper you used. It makes an .icc page description file for you to select instead of the Epson .icc file. When you print again select the new .icc file and also choose "Printer Manages Colors" instead of "Photoshop Manages Colors" I know this is usual but it works. When you are done you will be smiling too with your beautiful results.
One other thing. If you want, it is optional, also purchase the Spider 4 Pro for $150. It calibrates your monitor and helps make excellent prints.
I understand it is more money and you already probably have a good computer, expensive camera to go with the 3880 so spend the extra money so it all works together.
    I hope this helps.

    Hi John,
I've solved my problem. The Black Print cartridge was defective.
When I removed the black ink cartridge, the printer message stated it was

  • Major Printing Problem - Can't Print in any App, with Any Printers

I help my Aunt with her three Macs (2 eMacs, 1 MacBook, all running 10.4.8 right now) at her office, and she had me come to help recently because one of the eMacs stopped printing anything; here's what happens:
In every app besides Word (e.g. Safari, TextEdit, AppleWorks, etc.): If I click File>Print... or press 'Command-P,' the cursor turns into the spinning rainbow for a few seconds, and nothing happens (meaning I can do anything I want in the application, as if nothing at all happened).
In Word: If I click File>Print... or press 'Command-P,' Word sits for a minute with the spinning rainbow, then locks up and quits itself. BUT, if I click the little 'print' button in the toolbar (the one that bypasses the print dialog box), the file will print.
I tried resetting the printing system, setting up different printers on the computer, printing over the network and over USB (directly connected to port 1 on the eMac), and re-downloading/installing the printer drivers for the Brother 5250DN laser printer AND the HP LaserJet 1200 laser printer, but all to no avail.
I can run the Printer Setup Utility and recognize the printers (via Bonjour over the network and via USB), and the computer can run the printer setup utilities, so I know the printer communicates fine with the computer. I also can print to the printers (both the networked one and the Brother) from any of the other Macs (including my own laptop) over the network. But I can't get the print dialog box to show up for any printer on the one eMac.
I'm determined that this problem lies within the OSX printing system, but reinstalling the whole OS is not an option, as I would have to re-setup all the software, user accounts, special network settings, etc. (even if I do an Archive and Install). Is there anything I can do??? (I seem to recall someone else having this problem, but I can't find that thread on the forum).

There's another thread describing this same problem. I am having the issue too. As I posted in the other thread:
"Well, I did a full Archive and Install, with restore user settings, and the thing still won't print! All apps crash when trying to print (except Mail.app, which is odd). So it appears all of the files required for printing are there since Mail.app works, but I still can't print from Safari, Firefox, Preview, TextEdit, etc etc. ARGH!!!!
Next step is to downgrade to 10.4.8."
If that doesn't work, I guess an Erase and Install would be th next step.

  • Can no longer print on any network printers or on printer wired to USB

I changed the printer to "Select printer"  save as PDF
since then i can no longer print to any printer on network
also I tried to connect a printer direct to usb. still no luck.
I have tried to update software
I have tried to select different printer on network
I believe the problem is in a setting that automatically changed when I selected "Save as PDF" as one of the printers.
there are so many tabs and locations on this system I just don't know where to start

First thing to try is go into your system preferences using the little apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen. Go to printers  an see if your printer is listed there. Go through the settings looking for something that would lock it to acting like a PDF exporter all the time. Sometimes the printer utility will have a "Print Test Page Option".
Installing some software, like Adobe, will also install dummy printer drivers that show up as "PDF Printers" in the Printers listing. This could be set as the default printer, but shouldn't stop you from selecting a different printer at print time.
If all else fails, you could try removing all he printers from your System Preferences, then reinstalling your current printer with default setups after restarting the computer. When it sees the "new" device it should start the install process like it did the first time. If you are not comfortable doing that, better to wait for better help or you could end up being worse off than you are now.
I too print to PDF often by selecting the option at the bottom of the print page. But it doesn't lock into that mode. It prints to the printer by default.
    Good luck.
