Unable to print to Canon ir2022i after 10.6.7 update.

Ever since the latest system update we've been unable to print to our imagerunner 2022i.  We've downloaded and installed the latest driver (2.24) to no avail.  We've downloaded and installed the driver update package from Canon...no dice.  The only way it works is to setup the printer with a generic pcl driver, but the quality is terrible.
Are we stuck until canon updates the driver or apple updates system software?  Not being able to print in a small office for over a week is insane....

The 10.6.7 update introduced an issue with the UFR2 v2.23 and earlier versions. For the imageRUNNER devices, a window would appear stating that the Graphics Mode needed to be changed from UFRII to Raster. If you then opened the Quality menu of the UFR2 driver and selected the Quality Settings tab, here you would see the Graphics Mode section and enabling the Raster radio button would allow the job to be printed.
This issues was resolved with the release of the UFR2 v2.24 driver. But this driver does not completely overwrite the older version, so it is necessary to trash the older UFR2 driver before installing the v2.24 driver. The following steps will remove the UFR2 driver from the Mac.
1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax, select the UFR2 print queue and press the - (minus) button to remove the queue. Exit from Print & Fax
2. Open Finder and navigate to HD > Library > Printers > Canon and trash the UFR2 folder
3. Still in Finder, navigate to HD > Library > LaunchAgents and trash the file "jp.co.canon.UFR2.BG.plist". Exit from Finder.
4. Open Activity Monitor and select the entry "UFRII Backgrounder" and then Force Quit. Exit from Activity Monitor.
The Mac is now ready to install the new v2.24 of the UFR2 driver.
If your issue is not the Graphics Mode message appearing, then can you please describe what error you are having.

  • Unable to print with Canon iR2018 after updating OsX Mavericks

    Hi,
there's anybody who can help me in finding canon ir2018 drivers for osX Mavericks?

Here is a link to the Canon UFR2 v10.2.0 driver that supports your iR2018 on OS X 10.9.
Please note that when adding the network printer you must use the LPD protocol and select the correct printer model, which will be listed as "Canon iR2018". Do not select the iR2018 that shows UFR II in the model name as this will be for the older v2.43 driver which is not compatible with OS X 10.9.

I am using reader 11.0.10.32 in Win7 Professional 64 bit.  I am unable to print from Reader.  After selecting print all pages, the progress bar goes through the proper page count. After that a pop up window appears with the message: The document could not be printed.  After pressing the OK button that pop up closes and the next pop up window appears with the message: There were no pages selected to print.  After pressing the OK button, the pop up closes and the pdf document is still visible in Reader.
I can print from other programs to that printer.  I can print from Reader to other printers.

  • Unable to print to Canon iR 2380/2550 after upgrading to Mavericks

    Hi all,
At work here in the UK, we upgraded our machines to Mavericks OS X 10.9 and since then have been unable to print to our office printer. The only work around we found so far was to print through Google Cloud, and only in black and white.
I have ready a lot of posts and tried different options and advice but no joy so far.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    George

For anybody having the same problem, one of our IT guys found the needed driver in the Australian Canon website - seem they have a lot more clout than US and UK customers.
Printing is now working as it should from my machine.
Download the driver from the link below:

  • Cannot print to Canon iR2022i

Our Canon iR2022i printer was connected to a router with the ethernet cable and we could print without problem from Windows.
We recently replaced the router with the new Airport Extreme (with 802.11 a/c). Attaching the printer to Airport Extreme via its USB port, we can set up and print from Windows through Bonjour. But I can't print from my MacBook running Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8.4).
I installed Mac_UFRII_V243_uk_EN and can print without problem if it is connected directly to the MacBook's USB port.
Connecting to Airport Extreme's USB port, I had no problem "adding" the printer in System Preferences. It saw the printer. I picked "Canon iR2022/2025/2030 UFRII LT (UK)" when selecting the printer driver. Setup went without problem. But then it shows this error message:
I tried using Printer Utility to "get the printer information" but this error message appeared:
I'm now saving documents to the cloud so that I can print from Windows! It's very frustrating. Does anyone know what the problem is? Thank you very, very much!

(No luck setting up the printer if I connect it to the Airport Extreme via ethernet cable (Mac and Windows.) I don't know a thing about networking but i didn't expect that Airport Extreme would make it so hard. )

Your issue is a result of the UFR2 driver for OS X. Because the USB port of the Airport does not support bidirectional communication, the UFR2 driver is not able to get information back from the device - as you found with the UFR2 Printer Utility.
So the solution is to connect it to one of the Ethernet ports on the Extreme. By default, the iR series is set to use DHCP, meaning that it will request an IP address from the Extreme. So providing this setting in the iR has not been changed, you should only need to connect the Ethernet cable from the iR to the Extreme. Note that you should have the iR2022 power turned off when you do this.
With the Ethernet cable connected you can turn the iR2022 power back on. The next step is to check what IP address it has acquired. If you need instruction on how to determine that then please reply.
Once you have the IP address of the iR2022 you can then add it on the Mac. Note that this model does not support Bonjour so after you click the plus button to add the printer, you will have to select IP then LPD for the protocol. Enter the IP address, leave the queue name blank, change the Name to iR2022 and select the iR2022i UFR2 driver in the Use menu. Click Add to complete and now you should be printing again.

  • Can't print to Canon LBP7200Cdn after Lion upgrade

Since upgrading to Lion, I can't register (and therefore can't use) my office printer, a Canon LBP7200Cdn.
I tried for weeks to get it to work with the interim driver Canon released with Lion, then gave up and waited for the full driver. Then that didn't work either.
Installation of the driver appears to work fine, but once the printer is registered, printing from any program gives me the error message "/Library/Printers/Canon/CUPSCAPT/Bins/capdftopdl failed".
The problem is the same whether connecting via USB or IP.
I had the same problem when I updated to Snow Leopard 10.6.7, but installing Canon's new driver fixed it. Now nothing works and I haven't been able to print since the summer. No other Mac users are having this problem (but I'm the only one running Lion). Would welcome help from anyone.

  • Unable to print to Canon iR-Adv C5045 from MacBook Pro that is connected to Windows computer and shared on the network

I am unable to print to a Canon iR-Adv C5045 from a MacBook Pro (OS X 10.9.4) that is connected to Windows NT computer and shared on the company network.  I am connected to the network by ethernet.
I was able to add the printer manually by going to Advanced, Windows printer via spoolss, smb://computer name/printer name and used the Canon iR-ADV C5045/5051 driver.
When I print it appears to be printing but nothing comes out.  I checked the completed jobs from the Print Queue and the job is listed.  Checked the print log on the printer and it isn't listed.  Is there a different driver I should be using for this configuration?

You may not have a choice as to what driver you can use. If the ADV C5045 only has the default UFR2 printer kit, then you will have to use the UFR2 driver - which is what you are using now. If you can access the copier, press the Counter Check button on the control panel. Then on the display you will see an entry labelled Check Device Configuration. Select this and scroll down through the pages. You are looking for an entry called PS. If you see it then the Canon does have the optional Postscript printer kit enabled and this will let you use an alternate driver. One suggestion would be to create the printer again using the same setting that you have done already but this time select the Generic Postscript driver included with the OS rather than use the Canon driver. This will help to determine if the driver is the cause.
If there is no PS option you will have to use the UFR2 driver and this could be the problem, as the Canon drivers don't always work well on a Mac via a Windows share. As a test, are you able to create a print queue directly to the Canon rather than via the Windows share? If you can, then this will let you check if the driver currently installed will work, as there can be settings on the copier that can block/stop you from printing. Assuming that you can print to the Canon with a direct connection from the Mac, then we can work on getting the printing via the shared queue. But if it doesn't print directly from the Mac, then it confirms that it may not be the server and more to do with the copier.

  • Unable to print on HP J6480 after installing Snow Leopard

After installing Snow Leopard I've been unable to print from my HP J6480.  I get an error message saying to check for updates from Apple and the manufacturer.  Apple shows no more updates.  I've added a printer driver v2.6 from Apple, but that hasn't helped.  Had no problems printing before this.  Any suggestions?

Never mind.  Just went to Hewlett Packard site and the suggestion was to reinstall the printer.  I did so and it now works.  Of course, the reinstall wiped out other printers I had on there....Adding Snow Leopard has resulted in much more work than I thought it would be!

  • Can't print to Canon IPF610 after upgrading to Mavericks. HELP!!

Since updateing to the OS 10.9 Mavericks, I am no longer able to print to my Canon IPF610 Large Format Printer. I tried upgrading the driver at the Canon website for the OS 10.9 but it's still not working.

I already know about this and this solved my problem 2 years ago when I hooked up the printer for the first time. Now after installing the Mavericks update, it keeps saying the printer isn't connected. I tried using a different ethernet cable, unplugging and plugging printer back in and still the same problem. I can still print to it from my old Apple G5 tower using 10.5.8 and was even able to print with no problems on my Intel iMac using the 10.8.  I installed the updated driver for 10.9 on Canon's website and still get the same problem.

  • Not Able To Print w/ Lexmark X2600 After Recent Airport Firmware Update

    Hi,
So, after the recent firmware update for the Airport Extreme (802.11n), I can no longer print to my printer share. The device is recognized in Bonjour, and I use the correct driver as I did before, but when I send something to the printer, it just reads:
    "Connecting to MyNetwork.local...
There is a problem communicating with the printer. Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to the computer. Delete or hold the job and try again."
Now, if I connect the printer directly to my computer and set it up with the same drivers over USB, it works just fine. Can I get some support on this?

    Hi,
    Have you tried this?
To change the printer’s network settings:
    1. Open the printer's embedded Web server.
    2. Click the Networking tab. For wireless settings, click Wireless. For IP settings, click IP
    Configuration.
    3. Change the printer's settings to match the settings of the network, then click Finish.
    4. Close the printer's EWS, then disconnect the Ethernet cable from the printer.
    5. The control panel lights will cycle.
The previous procedure is from the Wireless Printer User Guide for your printer.
    Best regards,
    erico

  • Printing doesn't work after 10.1.3 update...

We did a deployment with System Center 2010 and the majority of our workers cannot print from the reader.
The solution for now is deleting their profile. As you might imagine it's not a great solution.
We didn't had any issues with the 10.1.2 but now we do... you say the printing issue is fixed but for us the printing issue just started after 10.1.3.
Anyone found out which file \ configuration \ registry key is making this happen? We tried deleting the adobe reader folders inside the user profile but didn't solve the issue.
    Thanks.

Any update to this?  I have the same issue with 10.1.4.  If I disable protected mode it works.
Also other users on the same machine can print the same PDF with protected mode on.

  • Cannot print to Canon iR3380i after Mavericks update

We have a small office network.  All machines print to our Canon iR3380i copier.  The iR3380i has a static IP address in our internal network.  All machines currently use OS X Lion.
I updated my machine (2011 MacBook Air 13") to OS X Mavericks last night and can no longer print.  Here are the error messages and steps I've taken:
    1) First I got "Error 16801"
To solve this I visited the Canon site to download the latest UFRII driver (v10.2.0) for the iR3380i
I removed the current printer, updated my driver with the new UFRII driver
    I re-added the printer
    2) Next I got "The printed output may be incorrect because the printer information has not been acquired. Start Printer Utility to get the printer information."
The only option at this point is to hit "OK".
    3) Next dialog box says "Cannot communicate with the printer, or the printer is not supported. If the printer is supported, check the printer connection and add it again, then start Printer Utility to get the printer information."
Again, the only option I got was to hit "OK".
The printer icon appears in the Dock with a PAUSE symbol and the 1 Job Pending alert.
Opening the Printer Queue box shows one job in the queue.
Hitting "Resume" generates the dialog box "Cannot communicate..." again.
And that's it. I cannot figure out what else to do. Help please!

I think your issue is that even though you have the latest 10.2.0 driver for 10.9, you added the printer using the previous v2.43 PPD. So open Print & Scan, remove the current printer for the iRC3380 and click the plus button to add again. After selecting IP > LPD and entering the IP address, ensure you select "Canon iR C2880/C3380" in the Use menu. Note that there is no mention of UFRII in the model name, as is the case with the previous UFR2 v2.43 driver.
Thanks for the suggestion.  I did that this morning (see Step 1) and deleted the existing printer before re-adding a new printer and using the newly updated driver and printer description.  Here's what I get:
You can see my model number is listed in there as is the the proprietary Canon UFRII language.
Once added, here's what happens next:
So it would appear, at this point, that the printer is installed and communicating and that I should be good to print.
Alas, I get the same error message I've been getting.  back to square one.

  • Text won't print on Canon LBP5050 after software update, Text won't print on Canon LBP5050 after software update

I'm running OSX, 10.6.7 on a Mac mini and on a macbook pro. Since I've run an update, neither of them will print text, only pictures, on my Canon LBP5050 printer (which I bought from Apple). I've checked the drivers, and I'm already using the latest. I've reset the print process and that had no effect either. Anyone got any ideas? It rather makes the printer useless.
    Thanks,
    Ariane

Solution found! Delete old printer driver, restart machine then go to http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0900772205.html
With the CAPT driver installed, to add the printer, you do need to click the More Printers button. This will be located in the bottom left hand corner of the Add Printer browser.
Restart machine again and turn printer on, hopefully then you'll be able to print text and images without any problems at all! works for me and I'm on a Macbook Pro running 10.6.8

  • Printing to Canon iP4000 after 10.3 - 10.4 upgrade works

I got a new Canon PIXMA iP4000 printer and connected it to my Airport Extreme Base Station.
I downloaded and installed the 2.6.2 drivers from Canon's site on my iMac (upgrades from 10.3 to 10.4). When I tried to add the printer, using the Printer Setup Utility, it would not automatically select my printer driver. Only a list of GIMP drivers would appear for Canon.
I download the latest Canon printer drivers and Bonjour for Windows onto my Windows XP ThinkPad. Installed them both and printing worked flawlessly. I was glad, but not to happy about my Mac.
Next I installed the Canon drivers on my new iBook which came preloaded with 10.4. The printer setup utility found the printer and it's driver just fine and printing worked fine.
I then compared my iBook's /Library/Printers/Canon directory to the same directory on the iMac. There were not a 100% match, and the timestamps on the files did not match up at all. I crossed my fingers and deleted the Canon folder, then reinstalled the Canon driver I downloaded, and rebooted.
This time the Printer Setup Utility found the driver for the Canon and printing works fine now!

Nevermind. I discovered the problem was not properly closing the inner cover of the printer when I changed one of the ink cartridges. It had nothing to do with the recent upgrade in the system software..
